Review Yama Gardens - Sydney

Great little Japanese bistro serving all of the favourites. Popped in here for a quick bite + say at the bar before heading to our main event. Premise was clean with an open plan kitchen. Ordered the Agedashi Tofu, karaage chicken and the Salmon Lovers plates. Service was prompt and friendly! Great little date place with good value.

Great food, good price. Try the octopus balls and the funnily cut cucumber 🥒. Also try the Tokyo sake, very nice 👍

They have a bar that overlooks the chefs cooking the meals right in front of you. The meals are amazing. So much flavour! I ordered the green tea seafood gourmet pancakes, Tasmanian salmon sashimi, soft shell crab with yuzu sauce and a semi dry sakura-masamune "edoiche" junmai sake ^_^ Excellent service! They cook the meals in front of you at the bar. Love it. And you can notice the difference in the quality of their products such as the premium soy sauce and wasabi. The service is outstanding and they have a really nice selection of sake. Recommended for special occasions as they are a bit pricey but worth it for the quality of the dishes they serve. Try out their signature mousse desserts. So creamy! Perfect.

A wonderful Japanese restaurant with more uncommon dishes offered. Incredibly attentive staff and a crispy light tempura style. Highly recommend sitting upstairs and people watching the people below as you take a trip to Japan through the wonderful dishes provided.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Sydney. We have been coming for 3 years and never been disappointed. The food is delicious, beautifully presented and always fresh. The staff are friendly and kind and the venue is lovely. Sit upstairs and you can enjoy a conversation and overlook Darlinghurst. Choose the sushi and tempura platter for two and you won’t look back. Enjoy!

Came for dinner last night. We were directed upstairs to a table. The ambience was nice and relaxing, the lighting was really low with a candle at the table, giving off a romantic feel. We both had a bento box. I had the Wagyu beef one. The beef was light on the flavouring, but really really nice and tender, however there were only four slices... My friend had the teriyaki chicken and it was also tender and very well flavoured, the sweet and salty flavours were well balanced. They were a bit more generous with the amount of teriyaki chicken served. The sashimi tasted fresh and each slice was pretty thick. The salad dressing was delicious. The bento box also came with miso soup which was nice, nothing too different from other Japanese restaurants. We had one of the sakura sakes, it was meant to be fruity. I think there was a hint of fruitiness to it but it smelt and tasted so strongly of alcohol, it wasn't to my liking. Overall the meal was tasty, and the portions of everything was good except for the wagyu beef slices. Would definitely come back again.

Having walked passed the restaurant many times before, I finally stopped in for some lunch. Sitting at the bar was lovely, we were able to watch the chefs preparing the food and the service was very good! The food was delicious, we tried a number of things and I especially loved the sashimi, the tofu and the seafood gyoza. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

I already came here several time at lunch time. And i am never disapointed. The sashimi are particulary fresh and tasty. And the hot meals are different from other menus which i like. The dressing is well made and the portions are quite big. The place is huge so you can cole with lot of friends and during sulmer you can enjoy the bacony. You should give a try.

3 overall for my dinning experience considering the atmosphere here was fantastic. However food itself was only worth 2. To me, it's a bit over priced and Sashimi is not that fresh. It's the first time i saw some chefs will get together and took a pic on the plate they prepared before serving, it looked not that professional. Also it is the first time i had a bento box but rice is not included.
PS, this is a Japanese restaurant run by all Korean.

Came in for dinner tonight, and so very glad we did! Everything was fantastic. The soft shelled crab was cooked to perfection, and the gyoza was one of the best I've had. Part steamed, part grilled.. Perfect textures. My partner went for the salmon main and loved it while I opted for the wagyu bento box so I could try the sashimi as well. The meat was cooked perfectly with such amazing flavour, and the fish was so very fresh and delicious. (Oh, and the idea to marry prawn and egg sushi into one amazing layer cake of nigiri goodness is genius!!!) The miso side was rich and more-ish... One of the best I've had in years.

Bang for your buck? We walked out full and satisfied for about $40 a head. BYO wine suits us to a T. Fantastic value for quality!

All sweetened by lovely staff who made us feel welcome, and chats with the owner which proves that the love we could taste in the dishes goes all the way to the top. I wish this team all the best, I hope you stick around for a very long time. We will be back soon!
