Love this place. Brilliant wings, a great assortment of American classics on the menu and tremendously great staff.
I’ve meant to try this place for yonks. It’s fun. It has an American theme with American craft beers on tap, which are tasty. For a nightcap, it was perfect.
The Surly Burger : 😍 Amazing
The Kenny Powers : 😍 Amazing
The delicious, juice-dripping Surly Burger is a must have if you’re here. A classic that just tastes soo beautiful especially if you’re hungry. They don’t call it crack sauce for nothing. The Kenny Powers Sandwich also didn’t disappoint with its soft, juicy pulled pork. What more can you want ?
Amazing experience here visiting from Byron Bay- loved it- super welcoming and fun. AL the host was a total legend! Wings- basketball & fireball! So so good.
Like any good BBQ place, the meat is sold by weight. And of course, the first thing I want is 200g of Sliced Brisket ($16, 100g). Sliced slightly thinner than I had expected, the meat was nevertheless smoky, buttery, and everything you want in a mouthful of BBQ brisket. Slather it up with your choice of sauce (they have several on offer), and away you go.
Good time bar with a great atmosphere (including free arcade games and live music when we visited) and tasty food. The mac n cheese balls were very arancini-esque with a delicious crispy coating, and paired well with a sweet cider. The burgers looked amazing too.
The menu here is really extensive of all the murican goodies you can possibly dream of. Only wished there was fried chicken! But they did have a southern fried chicken burger which scratched that itch for me. I heard great things about the Mac n cheese, so I had to order it when I came. The Mac n cheese was a great balance of creamy and cheesy! The place also has great vibes. My partner and I came here on a Friday to get us hyped for our end of year USA trip, we left satisfied, belly full and super hyped.
I think we all agree that we can’t say no to a good burger!
Well, this place is one of best burger joint that serving American style burger and smoked house.
“Handsome Mike” for example...hands down one of the best burger around.
Chopped beef brisket ( you can buy as its own, and comes with sides), and Mac & Cheese combo... boom! A winning combo to me.
Buffalo wings also pretty good.
The next time I come to this place, I will get 500g of their sliced brisket (because that's probably how much I can afford on my salary). I will lightly salt it at the table. And then I'm going to embarrass myself.
I might also get a poutine just to fill the void that is my stomach just a little more.
The brisket is fantastic. The rest of the things on the super platter are succulent but can't quite compare. But the brisket. *slobber*
Their brisket is the kind of thing that makes me wish I was a professional food blogger that got invited to American BBQ to try brisket for free.
(sorry I didn't take any photos of the meat platter I ordered. Was too hungry. Been trying this thing called intermittent fasting!)
Great vibe and even better staff!
Surly's has your usual selection of American BBQ classic hits and plenty of local and international beer to wash it down with.
Of the dishes we had the BBQ chicken thighs were the highlight. Highly recommended!

Dreaming of going to America? Or have you already been and miss the amazing food? Surly’s does a damn good job of bringing great American food, with large portion sizes, to Surry Hills. Tucked up on Campbell Street, Surly’s has a great vibe with its neon lights, large sports TVs and games area upstairs. And topped with super friendly staff, you’re bound to have a great night.
Went here on a Friday for lunch at 12:30, even without a booking, we found a table for 6. Ordered a burger, 'The cowboy' , that comes with shoestring fries. The beef patty was well-seasoned and cooked medium well, and the horseradish mustard goes very well with the brisket. There was a lot of meat in the burger but I don't feel too heavy after the meal. The portion was quite huge and very filling.
Tasted some of the 'Surly's fries' - the Surly's seasoning was delicious and has a subtle heat.
Reasonable prices and lots of options on the food and drinks menu. There are different special combos everyday - will definitely come again and try out other food.
Came here on a very stormy afternoon. Only one other table , staffs were very friendly and chill. We ordered a beer and a Dr Pepper and 2 burgers
Really tasty burgers and fries. American/hipster atmosphere ! They do Wednesday half price wings all day ! Will happy to return !

Walked in and was greeted immediately, good taste in my mouth already. Service was nice for a Monday, wait staff defs knew what they were talking about. Felt like I was in one of those American pubs you see in the movies - kudos for setting up a good atmosphere.
Mate ordered nacho salad and I got a slow smoked beef brisket sandwich with fries. Food apparently is hit and miss here... the beef brisket was rather tough and hard to chew. Worth a try.
A fan of all things Southern? Surly's is the place for you! Grab their fried chicken and Handsome Mike sanga for a moorish Southern experience, and on the weekends you can indulge in their SMASHING house BBQ! But get in quick because it doesn't last long!
The best place I've ever eaten at! The toilets were the cleanest toilets I've seen at a restaurant and the customer service was beyond amazing and the food was definitely worth the price would recommend to everyone
Food was good except for when I ordered chilli fries I didn't expect there to be meat on it as it didn't state that on the menu.
Not exactly vegetarian friendly but food was tasty and atmosphere was like a bar you see in American movies.
Price was okay and definitely recommend it if you're into spice.
Located just off Crown St. in Surry Hills so it's not hard to find.
Came here on a Friday night. It's such an American bar. The decor, food etc. We ordered the beef ribs, lamb sausage, burger and chili nachos. Can't say the nachos were great as there was hardly and filling on them but the rest was super tasty. Would come back
The food is definitely flavorful here, i tried the chill cheese nachos and the fried chicken so i can't comment on anything else on the menu but it was good. The bar and wait staff we're all top notch.
I'm a fan, great American BBQ and good choice of beers. We had the brisket and pork ribs, sides and Young Henry's, yum! Book via the Qantas website to collect Qantas Points.
Fantastic Americana vibe. Super friendly staff. Attentive service, and probably some of the best pork rib I've ever had. Sides were great too, Mac n cheese and the beans are brilliant! They ran out of brisket which I was bummed about but there is a good reason it ran out.... It's freakin amazeballs! (my mate got the last order and I stole some)
Sound burgers, tasty fires, no takeaway for the other items. This is a bar, not a restaurant. Tried to go there with a baby, too loud. Go for it young people. Cover yourself in American BBQ. I would love have tried the brisket etc.
Surly's is how you would expect an American diner or pub to look like - complete with sports on the multiple TV screens, counter/ high stool seating, neon lights and a chilled atmosphere. I don't know how they normally are during the week, but they were pretty busy throughout the Saturday night.
The menu is your typical American foods such as burgers, meaty sandwiches, fried chicken, buffalo wings, nachos etc. But we were there for the American BBQ. We ordered a serving of the pulled pork (100g), beef brisket (100g) and beef ribs (350g). All plates come with some cornbread and optional sides for $5 each. For starters, we decided to try the buffalo hot wings + ranch sauce.
Food didn't take that long to come out and I liked the fact that the starters actually came out before the mains, giving us time to enjoy the food. The wings were decent on their own, but 10x better when dipped into the ranch sauce. The plate of BBQ meats were also quite good. Meats were really smoky and tender, and I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available on the table. These included a tomato sauce, 2 different house-made BBQ sauces and a couple bottles of hot sauce. We ended up mixing up our own concoction to our preferred taste and used it to dip the meats in. Although I really enjoyed the food, I felt the meats could have benefited a bit more from additional spices or marinades.
The selection of meats we ordered + the side of chips ended up being a $50 plate. If we had not ordered the wings to start, I don't think that plate would have been sufficient for 2 people to share. For future reference, we would probably order some other meats or larger servings of the ones we liked. I would also like to try the other sides of slaw, BBQ beans, mac and cheese, green beans or potato salad. Although the food is reasonably priced, I felt the drinks were a little overpriced. The wine list is very small with bottles averaging at $50. Cocktails were $18 each, so including drinks, the bill can significantly go up.
Tried platter , with 3-4 non veg dishes in it. It was well prepared and sufficient in quantity for 2-3ppl. Good location, be on time to avoid waiting.
I found my way to this place on Easter Saturday, after the Chooks v Manly game at the SFS. I had been made aware of this place from someone I follow on Instagram and had to check it out for myself while over there. As it was late, they advised me upon arrival that they had sold out a number of items. As I was specifically after the veggie burger, they said no worries. Cheer meat eaters!Service was excellent and prompt. They got to my order before I had even sat down at the bar. Then I ordered a drink. I wish I could remember the bartender's name. He was awesome. Knew what I wanted and how to make it properly. I could see I wasn't the only one he was looking after well either. This guy was just good at his job and seemed to really enjoy it.The food came pretty quick and I got started on the crinkle cut fries. Good stuff. Not overly salted like a lot of places seem to do these days. The burger was awesome. Fresh salad and reckon there was some pepper in that burger or something. Very nice indeed. All up I ordered the burger and three spirits and I couldn't believe when they told me it would only be $35! $15 for the burger and only $20 for three spirits? With service that good and pricing that's not stupidly outrageous, I'm already booking it in for the next visit to Sydney as a must go.
American diners are the newest fad to hit the inner city. Some are hits and some are missers, Surly's is definitely in the hit column. Tucked away in Campbell Street this unassuming diner portrays itself as a sports bar with various football codes displayed on various monitors around the room but it is so much more. As well as burgers and sandwiches this place specializes in American bbq. We ordered the pork ribs, pork sausage, cornbread, coleslaw and the best mac n cheese outside of the USA.
What places this diner above others is the service. Manager Will who has been there less than a month had such a great "can-do" attitude, something missing from lots of restaurants these days, who even after the waitress told us the kitchen was closed managed to get one more order in for us.
The only reason I rated this 4.5 and not 5 is because I'm not a personal fan of sports bar concepts.
Will definitely be back and I urge all my friends to check this place out.
Picked up the Chopped Brisket Sandwich feat 4 pines pale ale (on tap) and my mate grabbed a Handsome Mike's Sandwich. Not too pricey (A$15 for the sandwich and fries) and definitely hit the spot.
Brisket could use a bit more fat and moisture but was splendid nonetheless (4/5 brisket). Fries need work.
Would be great for BBQ meats to be available throughout the day but I can appreciate that it takes time to prepare.
Sat at the bar and was served by friendly staff immediately with food coming out in less than 10 minutes.

I have a couple of friends who really enjoy American BBQ and to be honest, it’s something I used to really love as well! Well I still do technically but I just don’t partake these days. I don’t usually expect places that primarily serve up meat to have anything on the menu for me to eat but I’m very thankful that Surly’s in Surry Hills actually does! It’s nice to be able to go and have a drink with friends and enjoy a meal without going hungry or god forbid, being limited to sides.
Probably the rudest bunch if staff in the whole of Sydney, and that is saying something. I'm not sure if their obnoxious attitude is put on on purpose to keep with American theme, but if so, they do a splendid job.
In saying that, the food was amazing and so much so, it was worth being treated like a major inconvenience by the disgruntled front of house staff. Well done to the kitchen staff, you make the rest of them look good! Sort of.
I have only sampled their vegetarian burger (humorously begrudgingly offered at that) which I have to say is really, really good. The patty is fried to perfection with a very crisp outer layer and soft inside and the rest of the fillings complement it well. It hits the spot every time!
We ordered a veg burner, Mac n cheese, Mac and cheese burger and coleslaw with chips. Overall the food was alright, nothing special in my opinion. The Mac and cheese wasn't really nice, coleslaw was too sweet, veg burger was nice but not enough flavour. I wouldn't mind coming back just to try out maybe some other things though. I just really wish their Mac and cheese was what I hoped for
Wait staff amazing food amazing, small mistake with ordering but rectified with great attention!!! I can't recommend this place more highly :) 10 out of 5
The wings. THE WINGS! Also the chips. Came here for a work thing and pretty much just ordered wings, chips, and beer. They were all goooood. They don't take bookings apparently, but they made an exception for us and put a table on hold for us. The staff are lovely and friendly, the service is great, the food is also great. Really nothing to complain about. Just need to go back and try more of the menu really.
I love American style food and these guys do it well. The only let down was the pork short rib plate that came out was cold. The beef burger with extra patty and bacon was a little on the expensive side ending up to be $26. I think it's a little steep for a burger. Anyhow it was nice to go and try the food
Really did feel like I was back in America: Dark, period-style woodwork, natural light / dim lamps, American sport on TVs lining the cornices. Lonely country music filling the bar. Makes you thirsty.
Ordered Pulled Pork sandwich and beers. Beers are a dollar or two cheaper than I expected; some decent craft beers available. The chips that came were disappointing (apparently they were made in-house, but we thought they were frozen). The smoked pork was passable though not seasoned enough; slaw was lacking flavour. So-far not great in the food department..........then we tried the house-made sauces. They were absolutely exceptional—especially the chilli BBQ sauce. I want the recipe! After assaulting the food with said sauce, I enjoyed it; If we happened to be there when specials were on, even more so—might be 4 stars then.
Time it when the specials are on and you'll have a blast. #saucy
Am I still in Surry Hills, am I still in Sydney Australia or am I in middle west America? On the old site of table for 20 and stitch bar, we have Surly's. Everything from decor, staff, clientele, sports channels to beers and menu screams America.
To add to authenticity i ordered American BBQ plate. It comes with two sides of which I chose Mac n cheese and coleslaw. When it says smokey pulled pork, they mean business. The meat was so smokey that I could smell it throughout the meal. It was tender too as how it should be. Sides were good and corn bread was dense.
Not bad place for an American dining experience.
Came with a big group. Really accommodating and knowledgeable on the menu for "special dietary needs" people. Great drinks. One of our group was a Cajun and he said it was the best traditional American BBQ he had eaten in a while!
What a fun place to spend a night with your friends! They have amazing Philly cheese steak! Amazing beers! And! They have these old school games to recall your good old times!
Less an American family restaurant and more a loud bar with table service and high prices (the food alone was over $60 for 2 people and we were full but not stuffed), and serves food until 11pm. Most of the food was excellent, especially the bbq offerings (which can run out by late in the evening) and sandwiches, but the sides were hit and miss (mac and cheese was great). Buffalo wings were excellent as a starter but the fried chicken was pretty ordinary fried chicken that cost $15 for two pieces. They definitely need more, and better, American beers. Still, I had a great time and could go here regularly.
Excellent food, fantastic value, good service and has to take the award for most American looking bar in Sydney. Buffalo wings, Mac n Cheese, cornbread, smoked sausage & brisket and Philly cheese steak were all great.
Great atmosphere, very relaxed. Great food, tender ribs, moist chicken wings and awesome potato salad. Great staff, very happy to advise and proud of what they serve. All round great night.
My favourite burger in Sydney. Absolutely delicious, american gooey cheese, smokey bacon, nice juicy meat pattie and a soft bun. Great choice of beers too. It's set up like a dive bar but that's part of the appeal.
DIMMI got us here and we liked what we ate. We ordered CHOPPED BRISKET Sandwich and SURLY'S FRIED CHICKEN (4PCS) for Today's Lunch. The Brisket was tender, lean and creamy but not the one that makes you bloat. Cool place, with good service & good food, we will come back again to try different things. Good for casual outings or pub lunch fix.
Been here a couple of times with workmates now, and this is definitely a good entry into the currently trendy genre of Americana dude food. Philly Cheese Steak was delicious, as was the Bloomin', sorry, Buddin' Onion. Chips and Wings very pleasing also. The staff LOOK surly as hell, all wifebeaters and tattoos, but are actually super friendly. And the beer list is a mix of craft beers and mass-produced Americans - both ends of the spectrum!
Tried the fried chicken which had a great crispy coating and the chicken wasn't dry. I would like to come back here to try the bbq and definitely order the chicken again (although it can be on the pricier side). Also tried the 'Handsome Mike' sandwich that had their bbq meat with mac & cheese - bun was light and soft and was toasted just right to give enough crunch. The service was friendly & attentive with the food coming out pretty quick. I do recall someone giving a bad review of the service (which did turn me off going here for a while) but I can happily say that it is now good!
Surly's absolutely nailed the American sports bar vibe, it brought me right back to New York. The brick walls, exposed beams, and dim mood lighting compliment the classic American menu. Serving up glorified cheese burgers, fried chicken, spare ribs, and crinkle cut fries. Don't go easy on the condiments - the sauces are standout. Blue moon, coors and pabst are just a couple of the beers on offer. If you're after a little taste of Manhattan, do yourself a favour and stop by. If I had to pick something which didn't hit a home run for me, it'd be the chips, but all in all, an authentic Yank experience!
Love this place. As close to US style fried chicken as you can get. I'll admit, the chicken is greasy. But in a good way. I mean, what's a little bit of finger licking greasiness when it tastes that good. The pork ribs with a great dry rub is great but absolutely love their sausages. Spicy, fatty and meaty. Too good. The burgers are good but prob at the bottom of the list for me.
Love the decor in this place - they've really nailed the American sports bar complete with animated neon lights. The food is finger licking good with home made sauces, spiced fried chicken and the amazing slow cooked dry rub smoked ribs.
Super fried chicken! Dope place with cool staff! Cool fitout! The fried chicken day um! Up dere wit da best! Want more! Need more! Very yum!
Tried the Chopped Brisket Sandwich. Very wholesome - decent size meal and reasonable price for what it is.
Make sure to try the two amazing sauces available on the table.
I came here for a zomato meet up a couple of weeks ago and it was great! Inside is massive with plenty of little areas to congregate at. The food is wonderful. I highly recommend the fried chicken. I definitely need to go back to try the burgers .
I have been to Surly's a few times now and I can not get enough of what they are putting down!
So far I have had the Surly's burger, chicken wings, mac and cheese, dry rub ribs and a few sides.
My favourites has got to be the Dry rub ribs, It's not often you see in Australia do American style dry rub ribs well, which is probably why it's run by an American.
If you are a fan of smoked meats, BBQ sauce and great vibes, go to Surlys you won't be disappointed!
Great Americana bar for catch-ups with mates in hipster Surry Hills. Beards aplenty here. Service was speedy and I especially liked the Batch dark beer. Good fried chicken, okay mac n cheese. Chips could have been crispier. Recommend adding cherry pie to the menu for a more convincing American diner experience. The bahn mi was an unusual addition.
The food was amazing. Fried chicken with crispy and seasoned outside and juicy inside, and the best smokey ribs I've ever had. Great atmosphere with typical American fee. Would go back for sure.
Surly's in Surry Hills was on my list of places to dine at... and then when I discovered the latest Zomato Meetup was being held here I was even more happier to partake.
The Zomato crew and Surly staff set up the function room upstairs to cater for the bloggers and Zomato staff. In front of each seat they had takeaway boxes (which held wipes), some special take-home BBQ sauce and a customised menu. The little gift packs were a nice touch.
The details gone into the night included the hand-made labels for each sauce bottle (Surly's will soon sell their own sauces as well) and also made the table cloth for the occasion.
It was fantastic to meet the staff at Surly's and after mentioning my interest in smoking meats I was taken behind the scenes to see their commercial grade smoker and to meet their chef with a smoking passion.
It was great to chat to some fellow Sydney bloggers as well and to discover what a noobie I am to the food blogging scene. It's encouraging to know theres so much more to grow which was great as I love setting goals to achieve.
We started off with the crinkle cut chips... nothing fancy... it was great to just have something to nibble on to increase the appetite.
The thing to take note is to try the sauces on the table. They look like your normal ketchup and BBQ sauces but they're not. The sauces are mind-blowing. It really reminds me of a simple creation I make at home which is basically pepper, ghost chilli sauce and BBQ. The sauces are on the table should be used on the smoked meats as most come out without sauces. It pairs well with and for me nothing makes a meal more appetising than higher spice levels.
Next out was their smoked sausage... it has it's own BBQ honey mustard sauce that also has a fantastic kick to it...
That fried chicken not only looked mouth watering but was succulent as well. It's soaked overnight in buttermilk.. the way it should be. People sometimes have issues with that as buttermilk can leave a slightly sour linger to it but I love how it really makes the chicken juicy on the inside and a fantastic golden crunch on the outter. It's definitely up their with respects to the Fried Chicken scene in Sydney.
For me the beans and the coleslaw were my least favourite of the night. I understand it's purpose as sides and these were just simple sides to help contrast the taste of meats and sauces.
Personally the non-stop meats were not overwhelming and I loved the smokey goodness of each dish and the addictive addition of the sauces.
One of the highlights was their cornbread. So good... its fluffy and compliments so well with the meat or just as great on its own.
The smoked ribs just fell off the bone. A nice combination of fat and meat which meant on its own with no sauce and just dry rub.. it was still pretty fantastic... and if you decide to drizzle some sauce... it's just in a league of its own. Surly's provides an alternate way of serving ribs as opposed to the usual Hurricanes style that most restaurants copy.... and I think this non-smothered-in-sauce technique is just as good if not better. You really have more of a chance to taste the quality difference.
We were shocked to see our plates taken away knowing that we still had Pulled Pork coming. This was a slight mistake on Surly's part but it was great to see the chef personally come up and serve us the Pulled Pork. I enjoyed the smokey taste but it was still a bit on the dry side for me.
I loved the fact they had Coors on tap. The beer was refreshing and easy to drink and paired so well with the smokey meats and heat from the sauces. Despite it being below ten degrees outside that night, I still smashed down two cold ones quite easily.
The decor was done meticulously with the intention of recreating this North American pub scene feel... which means no fancy shmanchy new furniture. They decked it with old arcade machines and even shuffleboard tables... though maybe they should put up some rules on shuffleboard because we all starred blankly at the massive table.
The art work, neon sign, wooden bar and American flags really replicated the atmosphere that they were going for and the lights across the ceilings were a nice touch.
It's exciting to have good ol' American grub done right.. and done by people who know how to do it...
This place gives you plenty of reasons to go back... my next adventure is to go back for a burger, some Mac 'n' Cheese and the lip-smacking brisket.
I’ve long watched reality TV shows about Americans and their obsession with barbecue. Where bigger is better, and people fueled by smoke and meats. Come to think of it, its a pretty ideal existence!. So when an old Uni friend suggested Surly’s for dinner, I was SO THERE. Barbecued Beef Ribs, $25 with two sides
Love their American BBQ food! Ribs, fried chicken and sausage are all on point and had us debating over which was our fave. And the chef is from the states with a proper BBQ oven so you know it's legit (plus I definitely did enjoy it as much as, if not more, than the BBQ I had while travelling there). And the Mac n cheese!! Absolute fave!! Make sure you order extra and whack some in your burger too
“I’m not going to eat all the ribs, I’m not going to eat all the ribs” was my mantra stepping into the new American style sports bar on Campbell St in Surry Hills. I’d heard about this place. A place where they smoke their meat for up to 14 hours in a special smoker imported from Missouri. I also heard it’s the kind of place you easily loose track of time. Before you know it you’re waking up at 3am, face down in your bed, fully clothed with BBQ sauce all around your face thinking “not again”. I would not let this happen to me.
Loved it. We sat at the bar which proved a smart decision and tried the Buffalo wings to start, second good decision. Followed up with bbq brisket and pork ribs, good amount of smoke, fall apart tender meat and a choice of sides, we were happy campers. The best part was the service, chilled, friendly and welcoming. Winner!
Lots of places are doing American style but this is the only that has gotten the lighting right. Dark with a neon glow. Hockey and baseball on the screens. Pork ribs w a dry rub were delicious and while there are only three on the plate they are Flintstones sized ($20). Mac and cheese on the side please. Green beans are a winner too. Great value for money but not crazy portions so there is still room for beer. Will work my way through this menu.
As good as any bbq I've has in the USA. And I have had plenty of them. Pork Ribs were fantastic with dry rub. Chicken moist juicy and not oily at all. Hot wings just like in the states. . Brisket - couldn't keep my daughter off it. The onion - just delicious. Unpretentious, great food, simp,e service, great late afternoon Sunday feed with the family. Well priced with 5 dishes, 5 soft drinks and one cocktail all for $120. Good value and tasty family eating
Great food, great staff. A bit dark, especially in the back if they dim the lights, so a bit weird but was still okay. They stuffed up our order and we had to wait about 40 minutes but they took it off the bill and were incredibly apologetic which made a big difference. Food is basic but delicious and they have Blue Moon beer on tap with a slice of orange which is a little slice of heaven!
Surly’s is now open in Surry Hills in the spot of the old Table for 20/Sticky Bar. A couple of things, you can no longer enter round the back – there’s a coldroom there and the entry now is on the street side at 182 Campbell Street. It’s a beer hall and american BBQ joint and the startling transformation of the space is sort of impressive. A lot of flannel and cut off denim jackets when we visited; there’s a honky tonk feel very much in keeping with the stylin and the venue looks great. We wonder what happened to the attic/roof bar space.
Came here for the bottomless BBQ. The food was awesome! Beef brisket was tender, chicken was full of flavour. For $85 it is great value including all you can drinks package. Staff were really helpful and attentive, always checking if we had enough food and drinks.
Great spot to go with a group of friends. They have great value share platters available and also an all you can eat smoked briskets on certain days.
Service is good and lots of variety of food.
American BBQ at Surly's didn't disappoint. Fun and lively tavern styled decor, fairly priced menu and great staff. Grabbed a brisket box on the Tuesday special and wings in Louisiana sauce. Accommodates for couples, small and large groups alike. Will return to try their vegan menu!
I'm always looking for new places that serve poutine. We arrived before their official opening time on a Saturday and were immediately greeted by a friendly and lovely waitress. We sat outside, so yes, it's dog 🐕 friendly ❤ . We were overwhelmed with all the wonderful choices, and once again, the waitress was very helpful with suggestions and ideas on what to order. The poutine was okay, but the BBQ platter was banging, and the mac and cheese balls were yummmmy. I will definitely go back again and again.
I'd consider this a hidden gem, but fantastic bbq tasting meat! Loving the American Bar vibes! The platter just gives you a great selection of meats. And the (freshly baked) pecan cookies are a great finisher.
Tried the weekly special of 2x $200 BBQ platters. There were 8 of us, though was more than enough for for a 9th person. The portions were generous with special mention to the smoked tender chicken, both burgers, and of the sides the mash n gravy, coleslaw and super sweet corn cobs. Recommend gathering 4-5 ppl for the weekly.special platter.
As a Canadian, I went to Surly's today to check out the poutine... turns out Sunday is Caesar day! 15$ classic caesar's +8$ for all the fixings. Came with 2 chicken wings, bbq pork and a chunk of delicious sausage! I rate the poutine quite highly, real cheese curds and the gravy was spot on! Will definitely be back for the BBQ plate when I have more room in my belly 🤤 the staff are also all really lovely and chatty people, from the host James and the awesome bartender Naomi! I recommend sitting at the bar so you can talk to Naomi, she's great. 10/10 will absolutely be back.
Fantastic American tavern with to die for wings and melt in your mouth brisket, bbq and burgers. American husband was skeptical but rates it 5 stars. Trivia and free arcade games upstairs kept us entertained after dinner. Top notch service especially Tyson who was super friendly and made us feel super welcome. Can’t wait to come back again and again especially for the bottomless bbq! Super fun Tuesday night.
Definitely recommending to friends and so worth a visit!
