Review Mai Viet - Sydney

The most satisfying beef pho ever. It's near our bnb house and we just decided to walk in one night. Their beef pho is really delicious, and the portion is big!! We like it so much that we went there for dinner the second night. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything looks so good.

Great value, local dinner. Serving sizes were generous, chicken crispy, delicious dry noodles and side soup, and spring rolls were spot on. Will definitely go back again!

Decent for quick eats but it isn't anything special. I was disappointed due to the 4+ Google rating. We had the prawn rice paper rolls which were very fresh with a peanut sauce, but then we followed with the vegan spring rolls which didn't have huge flavour and the salt and pepper squid was under cooked. Overall the restaurant is clean, staff are friendly and food is quick. I was disappointed there was no Bahn Xeo on the menu. I probably wouldn't come here again.

The meal started strong with the great tasting prawn rice paper rolls. However the next two dishes were rather disappointing and I'd not recommend them. The vegan spring roll was lacked a quality taste and overall I just did not enjoy any aspect of them. The salt and pepper squid was a bit chewy and should have been deep fried longer to allow for a more crispy crust. The atmosphere of the venue is nice and allows for quick takeaway or sit down food. They tend to play up beat popular music which I found to be a positive. Finally I would say that the staff is very friendly which did make the experience better. Unfortunately, I don't know that I would come back here again...

A modern take on traditional Vietnamese. My favourite is the Beef Pho for lunch, a squeeze of lemon and some chilli satee complete an amazing dish. I love it when the chef puts the raw beef in at the last second before serving! Great priced lunch specials. Great vegan options too. Clean place and the food is excellent. This may be the best pho in Sydney!

My girlfriend and I found this lovely shop by accident. Then we came here very often. The coffee and coconut juice is amazing. This main dish, pho is also very delicious. Highly recommend.

Solid vegan pho - filling, tasty broth in a generous serving size. The salt and pepper tofu was also amazing. Super crispy and flavourful, piping hot on the inside. From a non vego

Great spot for lunch! I got the beef and brisket pho which was available as a lunch special. The broth was really flavoursome and the portion size was generous

I've had the vegan pho here 3 times. It's delicious and full of flavour. Staff are nice and service is quick. Highly recommend if you feel like some vietnamese food. If they've made a vegan pho this good I'm sure everything else on the menu is great!! I'm just a sucker for a good pho!!!

Really fresh ingredients at Mai Viet. I had the grilled chicken vermicelli salad and I loved the option to add more salad. The chicken was a decent portion also. All in all a tasty meal that you feel good after eating.

Pho is good , recommend the pho . In terms of the other items on the menu the quantity is very less. Even the meat in the pho is barely there. They have a 10 $ lunch menu of which all are average. Go there just for pho rest are passable.

Great food, fresh ingredients and great staff - take all my friends here on a regular basis, that pho has cured almost every cold I've had. Spring rolls are personal fav :)

Mai Viet is a new Vietnamese restaurant among the many (delicious) Lebanese places near my office. It doesn’t look like much on the outside but on the inside, the fresh, clean and modern decor is pleasing to the eye. I found the ambience to be very pleasant with a lot of natural light, bright fixtures and tasteful artwork. In some ways it was slightly tacky but I would rather tacky over a dingy hole.

Since I was still hungry after eating at a fancy restaurant, there wasn't much to eat around there apart from Lebanese food. But I need something that wouldn't be too heavy for me,thank goodness Mai Viet is open

The interior had some paintings on the wall and colour but it felt bare in there

My vermicelli with roast pork (not grilled pork) and spring rolls were surprisingly better than my expectations. All the ingredients are fresh, they added garlic to the fish sauce and the spring rolls must be home made because I have not eaten a spring roll with this unique taste before,I enjoyed my meal greatly

But it doesn't score higher, just like Me Oi in Strathfield the prices are a psychological barrier to me especially when you eat at Bankstown or Cabramatta for cheaper and you get free tea. Admittedly I don't know if they have free tea here but no cannister was on the table and it wasn't offered to us. It's the main barrier for me to come back

Love this place. I would recommend the claypot fish and also the braised pork. The spring rolls are great too. Still working my way through the menu. The pho is not my fav but still good. Great service. A regular takeaway place when I walk back from home. Thanks guys!

i used to drive all the way down to Cabramatta each weekend (up to 35km) from the city... Now i take a bus down to surry hills! Love it! The food is authentic vietnamese at its core and it tastes just like Cabramatta!
Better yet, you could tell the quality of the ingredients differ and fresher (bo kho) with less fattier and off cuts often used back else where at vietnamese restaurants.
The staff there are very helpful and often hear/ see them explaining some of the dishes to newer visitors.

Well recommended!

Great new Vietnamese in our neighbourhood. Fresh and delicious food, with a no fuss sort of atmosphere - spotlessly clean and with great service and good prices to match. My only suggestion would be to dim the lights slightly to give it all a softer edge. Otherwise I loved my experience of this place - highly recommended.

This is fresh tasty food. You'd think you were in Hanoi except for the seat height. And a lovely, dedicated team running the place. And reasonable prices.

The food is amazing. The braised fish, pho, braised pork is very authentic Vietnamese and delicious. The crispy chicken has got to be the best I've ever tried and they have good variety of fresh rice paper rolls. I also loved the spring rolls!!
Excellent for group bookings too as the prices are inexpensive.

The braised pork! The waitress was great at recommending dishes and I am so glad she convinced me to give it a try as I have never been a fan of braised foods especially pork belly but OH MY, I dream about it day and night! Will happily come back time and time again!
