Review Jackies Cafe - Sydney

We had a wonderful lunch at Jackie’s Cafe. Sashimi, gyozas and sushi all well made and delicious. I enjoyed a guava kombucha and an iced latte. The chocolate brownie is also divine!! When we visited the cafe was super busy but the wait times for everything weren’t too long. We even ordered more than planned. We’d love to come back and try some breakfast dishes another time!!

Nice and cozy coffee shop. We were there first time and liked it. The coffee was rich in flavor and very tasty 😋

Its a lovely setting with a lively atmosphere. The coffee is excellent. My ricotta pancakes were fantastic. The other brunches were fine but not very inventive. I would go back for lunch next time as they have a Japanese style menu for lunch.

food is superb. im not usually fond of salad but this salmon salad is really good, delicate taste and full

Fine food, average service (initial waitress seemed bothered by our arrival but follow up waitress was lovely and doing her best), seems more friendly and welcoming toward couples with dogs as opposed to those with babies or young children. Don’t have high chairs for use which I think says it all. Had a super relaxing brunch while my toddler was therefore squirming on my knee grabbing at everything on the table.

Best scrambled eggs and sides I've had in Sydney. Bacon was crispy and flavourful, tomatoes were roasted to perfection and the eggs were soft and fluffy. Their salad bowls are great too. The homemade tumeric and ginger shot was a real winner, intense flavours and fun to drink. Staff aren't particularly friendly or attentive, but you soon forget about their misgivings when the food comes out.

Good vibe and coffee, but I felt that the food was not value for money. $29 for a sashimi salad that was pretty skimpy on the sashmi. But then, I decided to eat in Paddington, so there's that. Ingredients were fresh and tasty, staff were attentive and good service.

What a fantastic little cafe. Friendly service in a cute little courtyard amongst Paddington fashion shops. Parmesan eggs were fluffy and delicious and pancakes were heavenly. We will be back.

A pretty nice cafe to bring people to as the interior is quite nice. It's a place that gets busy and I really like the concept of sushi and cafe. The dishes are a unique take on dishes e.g. breakfast ramen. Although I enjoyed the traditional ramen more I could see this being enjoyed by others who do not like the traditional style of ramen.

The other dishes look great too and can recommend meeting people here if you're in the area.

5 stars easily!
The staff were extremely helpful and kind
The setting of the cafe is really nice . A mix of old sandstone and new more modern outdoor area.
The food was delicious.
- latte’s were a great temperature with a fantastic taste
- I had Jackie’s salad with shredded poached chicken. For someone that eats a lot , I couldn’t finish it .. but it was very very nice.
- my friend had the tuna poke bowl and loved it
- the miso soup was very flavoursome and refreshing

Loved it !

Cafe by day, Japanese restaurant by night, Jackie’s Cafe has now become an all-day dining venue. Sashimi, carpaccio, nigiri, inside out rolls, a great selection of classic Japanese flavours get our dinner underway. We asked to exclude kingfish from our mixed sashimi ($21.60) and the restaurant kindly accommodated.

Hard to find but hard to forget once you've visited. Amazing food which attracts large crowds so make sure to arrive early if you want to get a table straight away. The menu is on the pricey side and be aware of the 10% surcharge on Sundays. Great brunch spot, would recommend.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Delicious and a must when in Paddo! I’m so happy they’re now open for dinner too because the outdoor courtyard pairs perfectly with their fresh sushi and cocktails 😋 We especially loved the dry aged sirloin tagliata and crispy king prawns! SO good! Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu 💕

Went at dinner time with a friend. Overall the food was delicious, all fish tasted extremely fresh - fish of the day + mixed sushi platters were a highlight! Prices are on the higher end but the quality of the dishes are probably the reason for this. Would go again. Only issue we faced was 1 dish took a while (or was initially forgotten about) but as soon as we asked the waitress, she made sure to get it to us ASAP.

A friend recommended Jackies for Lunch and it did no disappoint. A great and varied menu from fresh sushi from the sushi bar and other items from the main kitchen - there is also an all day breakfast menu. We had the sashimi salad and balmain bug pasta which were both very very good. They also have a good wine list, we chose the Provence Rose which was superb sitting in the sunny courtyard. Will be back soon to try dinner.

Great service, food and drinks in a beautiful courtyard setting. Simple and delicious - a fantastic addition to Paddington nights. Parmesan eggs for breakfast, sashimi salad for lunch and pork for dinner!

👍🏼- Popped in for a quick lunch here and it was lovely! The atmosphere is nice and the space is cozy. I ordered a soy latte which was nicely made and a plate of veggie sushi as well as edamame. I loved it, some of the best sushi I’ve had however I don’t know if it justifies the high price point. The service was okay...it was busy though so I can’t be too harsh. I do think it is one of the best cafes in Paddington and the presentation is wonderful. I would most likely return in the future!

👍🏼- Not the greatest service however it was a busy day and i haven’t returned since then to know if it is reoccurring or not.

Food: 5/5
Presentation: 5/5
Service: 3/5
Location: 4/5

We had brekkie here recently, while catching up with a friend from Paddington. Cute café with some absolutely stunning food. Food that looks good, and tastes even better.

While one of us had their chia breakfast pudding, the other had the amazing toasty granola with berries and yogurt. Highly recommend their coconut and chia breakfast pudding with fresh and dried fruits, and edible flowers and almonds. Also recommend the granola, and their avocado on toast with a poached egg.

Also recommend sitting outside, where you can brunch with your fur babies, and feed them some treats and water.

Nice coffee, alright food. Service not so good. Me and my friend were made to feel like we didn’t belong there and weren’t good enough... in comparison to the service by the same lady to the people next to us. That’s all I’m gonna say!

Pleasant experience sitting outside with delicious food a good coffee. Service very friendly and quick. Had scrambled eggs with avocado 🥑, so simple but yet so tasty. Nice summer spot for brunch.

I visited Jackies cafe when I was staying in Paddington for work. The first day I stopped in at 7:25am and was informed they were not opening for 10 minutes. I asked if I should come back or take a seat, and was told I could take a seat. This wasn't a problem, but when they did open and other customers started coming in, I sat there while several other people were served who came in after me. Most of these customers the waitress knew by name, so I think the best service is reserved for the regulars. Unfortunately, this poor service made me late for work. I returned the second day I was there as I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. The service was marginally better (atleast the waiter wasn't rude like the waitress on the day before), and the food was much better than what I received the day before. Working in Paddington, I have tried much better places for breakfast so doubt I will return. One suggestion is that I think the staff from 7:30am to 8:30am may be a little short with new customers as they only have one waiter/waitress, yet it's quite busy. Perhaps they should consider putting a 2nd person on during this time.

Popped in for a quick lunch at this little unassuming cafe nestled away. Sushi and salads were fantastic and fresh- really enjoyed the food. Only slight downside was service, we sat ourselves after a while and it's not really appetising seeing the waitress petting and feeding dogs then serving food.

Food & menu was great, coffee was alright. It was very loud though. But still a great spot in a nice area. Came recommended by our friend and I would recommend.
Those Who Love To Eat
Nestled amongst the up market boutique clothing stores of Paddington, lies this incognito cafe. You could easily walk past it if you didn't know about it. We didn't know of it either, I just happened to have spotted walking along Oxford Street.
The service was good, we got seated under the awning, menu and water came shortly after. The menu was limited consisting of mainly scrambl@ed eggs of various types, on Turkish. The price is a tad more given the location, it is to be expected. What was off about this place is the fact that they have a surcharge of $5 for dining on Sunday. Like what the hell? It's not like it's public holiday or anything. That was slightly annoying.
Anyway, we ordered the scrambled eggs with spinach and pancetta, and dill scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The eggs were scrumptious though, fluffy and airy. The portions are also a good size and ingredients were fresh.
The cafe was nice and food was good, but it felt so pretentious. It's worth a visit if you are after the perfectly cooked eggs, and don't mind a small surcharge.

This trendy eatery in Paddington sure knows how to please! A generous sized portion of porridge washed down with a super hot chai ☕️ certainly did the trick. Meanwhile my finance hardly drew breath amongst what I think were scrambled eggs that he inhaled.

Popped in for a quick lunch here today. The sun was shining, the sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the staff were wonderful. Great spot.

Love Jackie's! Great light food, great coffee and great service. Especially love sashimi salad, pumpkin and goats cheese salad, chicken baguette. They also give my dog treats :) quintessential Sydney cafe.
Nourishment Bowl
Love coming to this pocket in pedi from. I normally come for lunch but today I came for breaky. The service is impeccable, the food delicious. I had the scrambled eggs with feta and spinach and mushrooms. It was creamy and oh so yummy. The mushrooms were delicious too, perhaps a bit too much butter but still great. If you do come for lunch, check out the sushi bar, is awesome!

This place was yum and cool. Very mod and fresh atmosphere. Affordable 4 u. Would recommend anything on the menu, can't go wrong. Watch your head on the shade thing tho

All in all, Jackie’s is a great place to fuel up on a simple, tasty breakfast before a shopping stroll in Paddo. There won’t be much to annoy you.

Disgraceful. Who does Jackie think she is!!?
Speaking to patient and polite customers like they are dirt. How does she even have returning clients? Wait .. does she?
I did not even get served. I waiting patiently at the register to order take away with a smile on my face, understanding its a busy time of year and absolutely happy to wait, to be rudely stood down and spoken to by the owner of the restaurant.
Awful service, haven't even tried the food, looks uninspired. NO ONE, (especially someone who's business you were up until then happy to support) should speak to another person how she spoke to me. She should be ashamed. I am appalled. Will never be returning, will tell everyone I know not to eat there. Its simple, treat your customers right and they will be loyal and kind back.

Pleasant. On Saturday morning I came here for breakfast with my sister and 11 month old baby. The staff were friendly, the service was good, the food came out quickly and both our meals were delicious and decent sized portions (scrambled eggs with salmon and porridge).

My only complaint is that they do not have highchairs - no big deal seeing as my daughter sat in her stroller and ate her breakfast. The waitress was able to give us a table that could accommodate a stroller.

Rude staff with undue attitude. Staff are so over efficient they bring the bill and wipe your table without offering a second coffee or checking to see if you are finished. It was a very quiet Monday morning so was not like they needed the table, totally rude and very bad etiquette. I have spent plenty of $ at Jackie's over the years but can honestly say if you have a child with you they go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome and today will be my last visit. There is so many great places to have coffee in Paddington and surrounds don't give Jackie's your $ it's not worth the attitude!!!

One of the yummiest dishes I've had in a long time! Highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli it was sooo delish! Coffee is good too. Only issue I had was the $5 Sunday surcharge... The meals are already expensive enough

My friend treated me to "late"lunch on a Saturday afternoon;even though I dont consider 2.30 late for lunch. The noise from the Staff was unbelievably loud; between their shouting, banging and slamming things. I felt like my head was inside the coffee machine. We were asked 3 times in 5 minutes for our order. The meal was slammed on the table with a loud "here we are" and the table was wiped down before we got up or paid...even though at least 6 tables were still occupied. It was exhausting! However, the food was excellent.

The owner was so rude to her staff, in front of everyone and it was so embarrassing for everyone!. Yesterday my friend and I went to Jackies for lunch - the food was nice but I couldnt get out of there faster.... as soon as i finished my last mouthful, we ran out. The owner, Jackie was speaking so rudely to her staff, yelling at them, putting them down. Basically bullying them infront of us. She was bulling a young girl the whole time we were there and treating her like scum. It was so discusting and I felt so angry that we were giving such a cruel person our money and business. Never going back again.

Do not come here. Disgraceful attitude towards mothers with newborns. Don't bother with this overpriced hole.

My friend was there on the weekend and was kicked out because she had a crying baby! That is a horrible thing to do to a new mother, this was obviously very upsetting and humiliating for her!
My friends and I will never go back to this cafe ever again!

The Turkish bread with the breakfast is way too tough. Fast and efficient service but overpriced and a $2 surcharge per person on weekends.

The food is nice enough but the service is HORRIBLE! Never in my life have I felt like such a second class citizen than at this restaurant! I have tried more than once to like Jackies but regrettably each time my experience is the same. If you don't care about terrible service then the food is certainly worth it. I just simply find the poor service insurmountable.

The worst customer service, over priced & surcharge on weekends!!!
Not only do you get charged $2/person on a normal weekend (doesn't make any sense when the weekend would be their busiest days), however an extremly small portion of scrammbled eggs and a piece of toast sets you back $19, without sides!!!
We visited friends in Sydney who took us to this cafe as it WAS their local Brekky joint. Firstly they brought out the wrong breakfast, after correcting this we all looked at the $19 plate and were in shock at the small amount of eggs sitting on the plate. Our friends very politely pointed out to the waitress that the eggs we received were about half the size of their normal portion, as they always order them. The waitress then advised that she would bring out a side of eggs, we thanked her. Then the manager - most likely Jackie herself, came over to the table and rudely said "you asked to see me" we all looked at eachother confused and responded "no" as we did not ask to see her. so she walked away. We all finished our breakfast and the extra eggs promised to us never showed up! When our friends went to pay, they very quietly had a word with the manager and just pointed out that the extra eggs never came out. She then very rudely advised that she came over to see us and we turned her away. My friend explained that we thought the problem was taken care of as the waitress was bringing out our eggs. We were appauled at how rude this woman was, and how she offered no apology, which is all we were after. Turns out she canceled our additional eggs and did not bother to tell us when she came over to the table. Our friends advised that due to the way she had handled herself they would never be returning. The manager did not seem to care at all - makes tou wonder how much money they are making. An apology would have cost Jackies $0, but instead they chose to lose regular customers!!

The sashimi salad was the tastiest dish to ever touch my taste buds! Nice service too and an excellent ambience
