Really understated pub. I've been a long long time ago for a work lunch and it was completely different to a dinner here. Really wholesome/homey vibe, cheap beers (For most pubs now) and the food was incredible. Wide menu but everything ordered was excellent, would highly recommend coming for a drink and casual dinner. One of the best burgers I've had recently and mate said one of the best pub feeds he's ever had. Decent atmosphere in a hearty pub.

Awesome English-style pub with great food and beer offerings.
Better suited to winter months because it's cosy, however also great for any time of the year. Perfect stop off for a beer on the way to the game or as you walk around Surry Hills. Recommend.

Good old “Shakey” pub with a lot of history.
Very lad back staff, girls pouring beer nice and friendly.
Chicken Parmigiana was ok. I like going to the kitchen part, picking up dinner . There was a nice lovely bunch working there and they were lovely. Overall fun experience 😀

Possibly the rudest staff in Sydney a man spilled his drink on my table I politely asked the young man serving at the bar to clean it up. He said yes then starting flirting with his staff who I now know to be the manager. Because I asked her for a clothe to clean it up which I did. I then went back to the bar for a drink she ignored me completely and served another patron next I said who is the manager she said me gives you an idea of her attitude If your not a local steer clear.

A classic pub with a real local feel. It can get very crowded, particularly after 5.00pm. Fridays and nights that there is football nearby are particularly crowded.

Super poor staff and hospitality.
I visited this venue last night looking to continue a chill night with my group of friends but the night turned into a 6minute visit to which we were kicked out for no obvious reason.
My group of friends are not a rowdy bunch and we aren’t the most threatening-looking people either. We were respectful to the staff when ordering our one round of drinks, we listened to them when they said the upstairs area was closing and we had to move downstairs, and we followed the lead of other patrons to have our drinks just outside the venue. When we moved outside to where customers had been standing, within seconds a bar staff came out to not warn or politely ask us to move inside or to another area, but to reprimand us and kick us out of the venue with no proper reasoning.
Was it a licensing thing? Was it a COVID capacity thing? Or was it a way for the staff to clear out and close early? We don’t know! The staff member was persistently angry towards us without giving reasoning and (without wearing her mask) kept harassing us to leave the venue, not finish our drinks, and not have the opportunity to process the events and figure out next steps.
This venue needs signage, consistent policies, and the staff to know how to enact those policies. The Shakespeare was a nice place with nice vibes but was ruined by the rouge and impatient acts of one staff member.

This place is trash. Stay far far away. They accepted a booking (including my money) for a day they were not open. I arrived and the place was closed and locked and left me out the money and standing in the rain. I have traveled through 30 countries and not encountered such a tacky shoddy practice. Was informed by an employee the owner just doesn’t care enough to manage the place well. I have more to say but that’s all for now. Avoid!!!
