Review Gathered Kitchen - Sydney

Kat Argue
Despite being super busy for Vegan Day Out weekend, all staff were incredibly nice, and food came out very quickly. Coffees came out very quickly as well, and were very good. Three of us had a main each - we ordered the pulled jackfruit burger, big breakfast and haloumi bagel. We also shared three pastries which weren't overwhelming sweet as some pastries are - deliciously light and full of flavour. Everything was sublime, will be back for sure.

One of the sweetest vegan places in Sydney so far. Always tasty, just the waiting time - 30 minutes every visit! Please do something with it. I had to remove one star because of it. Both meals sweet and salty are great though.

Damn this place has great vegan food. It looks good, tastes good, the portions are generous and the staff are happy even when they are under the pump. There's both indoor and outdoor seating amongst an eclectic yet homely feeling decor. I will definitely be coming back for more!

exceptional vegan food! staff are very warm and helpful, and the actual interior of the cafe is gorgeous! there are seats just as you walk in, seats upstairs, or a little courtyard area out the back. in general, they are almost on the pricier side of cafes, however when compared with other vegan cafes, I'd say they're quite reasonable! they also have cheaper options like pre-made bagels with facon at the front, in addition to an awesome display pastries. I had a lovely almond croissant and my friend ordered the pandan lemongrass waffles. the food is delicious and so colourful! the place becomes absolutely packed on the weekend, so remember to keep that in mind, and go in the morning during the weekday if you're hoping for a bit of quiet.

My 4th visit to this cute cafe. My favourite is the vegan big breakfast. It's quite pricey but as a treat every now and then it's great! Nice vibe and beautiful food and smoothies. All vegan and quite a lot is also gluten free.

Totally looked too good to eat!!! But my pancakes were ultra amazing, PLANT BASED VEGAN EVERYTHING! Plenty of variety and baked treats.. Service was good, lots of indoor and garden tables, with pretty fresh plants and flowers growing. Two unisex toilets, street Parking on the main road of Glebe. Lovely area. Will be back with my friends! Thank you so much.

Classic Glebe Point Rd cafe offering a full vegan menu including sliders, bagels, smoothies and more. Food was quick to arrive and the service was friendly. Prices are reasonable for Sydney. If dining in, try to get a table in the pleasant rear courtyard.

I really love this place because they offer something different than most vegan cafes around. They have bagel sandwiches, delicious sweet treats, and best of all vegan croissants! My favorite by far is the almond croissant, the other ones I have found to be ok but not the same great texture or flavour as most other laminated pastries. Anything from the menu is outstanding, but can be pricey so opt to share some things with friends and it will be much less expensive! Overall, I get pretty excited every time I am near Glebe and know I can stop in for great coffee and a vegan pastry...check them out for sure!

Quick morning breakfast visit before the markets and we had a great experience. Freshly baked items and very nourishing and wholesome food at a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere and in a good location. Will be back to try more, keep up the great work.

This cafe is an absolute gem!! The vegan bakes and breads are amazing - the almond croissant is a must! The bagels are all delicious, the drinks are all great too

Amazing rad vacon bagel, especially when toasted. Packed with flavour, I can’t imagine how one could go wrong with this place. A must for vegetarians/vegans.

I am disappointed by this place.
A. Overpriced
B. Gave me the wrong pastry
C. Flies and insects landing on the food.
D. A hair was baked into the pastry.

Great atmosphere, excellent food, the service was fast and the staff were all lovely! Highly recommend “breakfast at Viffanys” - Will definitely be coming back!

I truly love gathered kitchen so much. I live about an hour from glebe but go out of my way almost every week just to get my gathered kitchen fix. They make the most delicious pastries that you would never know were vegan. You can tell they are passionate about their food by just looking at the way everything is presented. Due to its constant busy-ness, service at times can be a bit slow, however I can always look past this due to how wonderful my experience is every time I visit.

Stopped by this place for brunch and wasn’t I glad I did. Was particularly hungry but by the end of the meal I was probably a little too full, the servings were very generous and more importantly was super tasty too. We had the eggplant 🍆 and a dish I cannot recall the name of! (Pics attached) was 👌🏽 service was also quick and efficient and I liked that you pay up front so you are not waiting around to clear the bill! Will be back to sample more of the menu. Drinks looked interesting too although we didn’t try any!

love this place! everything here is vegan, snd they have an AMAZING menu to choose from with both sweet and savoury plantbased options. Most of their foods are very healthy and refined sugar free, and they even have a display window of fresh wraps, sandwiches, brownies and pastries. I got the Pandan Lemongrass Waffles which were absolutely delish! They were two MASSIVE waffles with slices of a large caramelised banana! It was topped with salted caramel ice cream (which was very nice and didn’t even taste vegan!) and covered in chocolate and caramel sauce and coconut flakes. It tasted as great as it looked, and was extremely filling. Their bagels also looked really nice and I’d like to go back to try it. The only reason I’m not rating it 5 stars is because the service wasn’t the best.

This resturant located in the heart of Glebe was divine. The food was wig snatching and the Black Bean Patty Burger was to die for. The fact that it was all vegan was even better as I felt full after just a few bites. Their valoumi (vegan haloumi) was my favourite part of the dish. The place is filled with plants and natural light which formed an angelic atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

👍🏼- I love this place! An amazing find if you’re vegan, even if you’re not. This cute little cafe is divided into a two story space, can be quite packed on weekends though. I’ve only visited once with my family whom aren’t vegan and even they enjoyed their meals. I ordered the classic buttermylk pancakes which were topped with vegan mascarpone, raspberry compote and delicious maple syrup... yum! It was the best stack of pancakes I’ve ever had, quite pricey at $18 however it was worth it. THEIR VEGAN CROISSANTS ARE TO DIE FOR. How are they 100% vegan, and still flakey and buttery ? I couldn’t even tell you. Their coffee was decent, nothing to rave about. Worth checking out, flavours are phenomenal and staff are sweet.

👎🏻- very tight space and from what I’ve seen, can be busy on weekends. Nothing to fault about the food!

Food: 5/5
Presentation: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Location: 3/5
The food is really really good! Come her thrice now. Service is a bit average when they are busy. Small, so I wouldn’t recommend taking large groups at peak times.
Croissants, pancakes, and tacos are great options 👍

Has to be my favourite place to eat!!! Food is heavenly, service is great and the general atmosphere is good!! I highly recommend Gathered Kitchen.

This is a very good find if you're vegan and even if you're not. A vegan friend took me here and I have to say I wouldn't have thought to go on my own. I'm glad I did. The food was excellent. I had a delicious meal of mushrooms on toast with vegan feta. It was so good. My friend had the gathered bowl, full of colour, flavour and nutrients. The environment is very hip cafe style. Relaxed and inviting. They have a small eating area inside at the front and a larger outdoor area at the back via a long hallway. Dogs are allowed in the courtyard so come along with your pooch and try something a little different. You won't regret it.

Fabulous plant based food presented with real finesse. The gf waffles and buckwheat pancakes are a stand out! This cafe is very professionally run.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
It beggars belief how a vegan croissant can be flaky and buttery but that is exactly what they are at Gathered Kitchen. A 100% plant based cafe, they offer premium bakes such pumpkin almond crunch cinnamon scrolls with orange cardamom glaze, black sesame glaze and activated charcoal cruffins with yuzu custard. Flavours are definitely not run-of-the-mill and change regularly. Definitely worth checking out.

We visited on a Sunday morning which was surprisingly quiet. The staff were very friendly and attentive. There is a lovely indoor/outdoor area down the back of the restaurant. It’s very bright and casual.

There is a lovely drinks menu with a range of lattes and smoothies. There is also a range of beautiful vegan pastries.

The food was okay. There is a lot of faux meat and cheese. I tried the feta, which really wasn’t tasty. My meal had various elements to the dishes but they didn’t gel.

We only tried two dishes but I probably wouldn’t visit again, despite my love for vegan food.

The croissants here are amazing and well worth an early wake up to grab before they're sold out. I can't believe they're vegan too! They taste super buttery and are beautifully flaky

Best food ever and great service - the croissants are amazing as is the bagel, waffles, pancakes, I could go on. DEFINITELY recommend!!!!!!!!

One of my go-to places!

FOOD:
I would recommend the Eggplant Shashuska (kind of tastes like pasta, but it’s delicious!) and Pandan Lemongrass Waffles (these do become a little dry so savour your ice cream and don’t use it up in one go!). Also highly recommend the regular croissant (if you see it, grab it, otherwise; it will be sold out). Smoothies were average to be honest (and I think a little pricy).

Would not recommend the Brown Rice dish unless you’re... 100% health conscious haha To be honest, doesn’t have any flavour and was quite bland. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was good! (But recommend the above two more!).

Yet to try the bagels which I’ve heard were AMAZING.

The dishes I received were also all well-portioned!!

AMBIENCE:
Lovely place with an outdoor area. Quite a relaxed place and great to go for a catch up.

SERVICE:
You have to pay at the counter so.. best to grab a table first before it’s gone! It can get quite busy. Waiting for food was the main downside to this place. I think it took around 30 minutes (or more) each time. If you can wait, definitely come here because I think it’ll be 100% worth it!

I went twice in one week because I enjoyed it thoroughly the first time. There's a good variety of options and the prices aren't too bad either. You must try the vacon bagel and pandan waffles, but I also really liked the breakfast at viffanys. The jackfruit slider was really nice too haha I think everything was nice so give anything a go! To live or work in Glebe would be a real treat, as they make such great lunch options and some are already in the cabinet ready to go! Anyway pandan waffles are a MUST and the vacon (rice bacon I think?) was so strangely addictive.

Great cafe environment and good food and service presentation. Came here with my mum and both enjoyed the food and coffee. Didn’t have to wait long for the food. Very diverse menu for vegetarians and vegans.

Another eatery on my recent trip to Sydney was Gathered Kitchen, a relatively new all vegan cafe in Glebe. My friend had eaten there the day before and brought home some filled bagels for our dinner before dashing to a concert at the Opera House. We had two different fillings, one was with some homemade cheese, truffle mayo, BBQ sauce and some really good rice paper bacon, the other with a sweet potato and pea rosti, cashew sour cream asparagus and wasabi mustard, both on great seeded bagels. The bagels were delicious.

The food was really tasty. However, we had to wait one hour for the food to arrive which means we won't be going back again. I feel half an hour for fancy bruschetta is long enough

Great in someways, but failing hugely in others - read this full review before you go. Food, coffee and smoothies very good, with a variety of sweet and savoury options for breakfast and lunch. Best items include the bagel, avo toast, pancakes, all pastries and coffee. Only bad item is the pandan waffles, which are soft and soggy. Most of the staff are very friendly. On the downside, food prep far too slow, such as waiting 15 min for simple coffee or 20 minutes for some avo on toast. Staff not keeping up with pastry demand. Most of them sold out by 9:30am on a Saturday, then not restocked until afternoon, even though croissants are a breakfast food. Staff need training on allocating tables on weekend. Too much confusion with the layout of the store for customers to figure out themselves, especially as you need a table before ordering. They also make you take pastries with you and don't bring them to your table like the rest of the food which is a bit odd and unprofessional. If you plan to go on weekend, get there before 10am, after lunch or don't bother. Be warned that pastries may be sold out or just unavailable at the time of day you visit and they are the best item to try for vegans.

Colourful menu. We came for breakfast which had a main focus on pancakes! The texture on both pancakes were fluffy and you wouldn't even realise they were vegan apart from not the fact they lack that bloated dense feeling you otherwise get from having a dairy and egg based batter.
We more so came for the pastries and we're blown away! The cronut and croissant was shared among our non-vegan pals and they considering how difficult it is to pull of croissants without butter or milk - they concluded that these goodies were on par with their traditional counterpart. 🥐

Very cute new plant-based cafe in Glebe. Our açai smylkies and banana bread with coconut butter were delish. Also a lovely atmosphere and super clean!

I was honestly so impressed by the variety that was on the menu, I couldn't order 1 thing! We ended up getting the bagel, breakfast and viffanys, a croissant and banana bread. A beautiful way to start my Sunday morning with my girlfriend. The service was just as lovely as the food, the Thai lady and I got along really well and started chatting in thai! I get so excited telling my friends about this place and I loved everything about this cozy, friendly plant based heaven!

Second visit +: This is now our regular cafe for vegan buttery cakes and pastries in Sydney. Always delicious and mouth-watering! First visit October 2017: I must say I gave an enthusiastic scream as I entered this cafe to find the most alluring cruffins, palmiers with passionfruit icing and croissants on the front bench and to be told they are all vegan (for my daughter of course)! I now understand how difficult it is to find top quality vegan baked goods in Sydney, so of course I had to stock up! Ordered a cappuccino with coconut milk and a pumpkin bruschetta with cherry tomatoes and beetroot hummus which was so generous and flavoursome. The staff here are so friendly and chatty that you really don't want to leave! Just as I was departing another young lady entered and screamed with excitement at the sight of croissants and pastries! "I can't remember when I last had a croissant, I can't believe it and it's all vegan". They use cold pressed coconut oil which has a similar consistency to butter so the croissants are flakey and buttery! A popular choice for locals and I am sure many drive considerable distances to eat here! Soups, shakshuka and pancakes are also popular!

Freakin delish!!! The food was beautiful and very well balanced, can't wait to make my way through the entire menu. Very friendly staff and relaxed homey vibes. My parter and I will be making this a regular stop!

For a business that has only been open a few weeks things seem to be going well. I have been a total of three times. My last visit was on yesterday during Glebe's vegan day out, the place was so packed and food took about 40 minutes. I was told before hand the food would take that long, and the staff was very nice while I waited, even giving my an update when the food was about 5-10 minutes away. Each dish I have tried I did enjoy, so far its been the classic pancakes, the waffles with ice cream, and the jackfruit slider. The slider is of course on the smaller side so do be aware when you order that to add something on. The treats are tasty as well. Most people have talked about the cruffin although i've only tried the banana bread (not the best, but still pretty tasty)0 salted caramel brownie (was very delicious however the take away bag it was package in separated the caramel from my brownie would recommend more as in house), and the doughnut ( 7/10, loved that it wasn't some over the top flavor).

This is an awesome new vegan cafe in Glebe, which has plenty of interesting options. Whilst not personally vegan, I found the food delicious and would have been fooled if I hadn't already known.
We got the Lemongrass waffles, which were apparently gluten free as well but I never would have guessed, and the Hello Rosti bagel.
They serve their coffee with the choice of soy (Bonsoy) or almond milk (and maybe coconut?). My flat white was a bit weak but otherwise quite nice (I like my coffee on the stronger side).

Especially considering they've only been open for a couple of weeks, they're doing an amazing job! And I hope they continue to do so. I think it's the best vegan-only cafe that I've found in the Inner West so far.
