Review Elizabeth Bay Cafe - Sydney

Selina
Delicious food, great coffee with lovely owner and staff. I had the salmon bagel and it was amazing. Great place just to sit and gaze out and watch all the dogs walk past!

They deserve a medal for the best avocado on toast I have ever had. They also have a number of delicious vegan versions of their main menu staples, including (and vegans will understand why this is so celebrated) a cheese toastie! Also their coffee is great. So happy to have such a five star local.

Had an awesome takeaway lunch at this hip spot today. Coffee was spot on, barista Phil knows what he's doing and is good for a chat. Got a Reuben sandwich to go which was packed with quality meat and very filling. Definitely adding this cafe to my rotation of go-to spots for a coffee and feed.

Love sitting in the window seat it’s the perfect spot for people watching. The coffee is great though the food is a little pricey

Great service, good coffee and beautiful food - this Sunday we were there for the third time and there is definitely consistency to their high-quality food! 🤩 Even though it’s extremely busy, I think it’s worthwhile to wait a couple of minutes to get a table (after all, the fact that people are flocking to that places signifies how good it is).

Cool place, nice and young people. I got the "bacon and egg toasted sambo" and it was really tasty. They prepare your meal fast, so if you're in a hurry no worries. The cappuccino was fantastic (I'm Italian).

Very good food, good service and you can also read a newspaper while you wait for your food. I LOVED their acai bowl.

Great flat white, that is smooth and strong as it is served in a slightly smaller cup than the usual. Food was fantastic, had the halloumi and smashed avocado sandwich with sriracha and the cheezy mushroom wrap.

My favourite cafe in the area. Great coffee and very friendly staff. Can't go past the corn fritters for breakfast or the veggie chilli bowl for lunch. The $10 breakfast specials are great value if you order before 9am.

I love this little cafe, nice vibe, lovely service and excellent quality food at a very affordable price. Their salads and sandwiches are the best! Highly recommended!

This place is very hit or miss. The kitchen is small and there seems to be a lack of ventilation inside the restaurant. On days where you sit inside, you wind up leaving smelling like the food that has been cooking. Coffee is ok, but it really depends on who is making it. The pricing of the menu items for Elizabeth Bay is very high. There are many other places in Elizabeth Bay which make up for in price, offering and staff actually having a personality than here. Go if you'd like a nice sunny spot to sit though. Outside tables and slight view of Elizabeth Bay water nice.

A great little find. The staff were friendly. The food was excellent. The lattes were smooth and creamy. It was good value for money and an enjoyable morning stop.

Super charming cafe set in an old world building with classical windows, arches and old school tiles and floorboards. The staff were also charming and perky. My piccolo was perfect - smooth, strong and no trace of bitterness. No need to ask for a double shot here. The breakfasts are also great, nice balance of flavors, all the ingredients are always fresh and full of flavor. They are the classics executed well, nothing too creative. Plates are slightly on the small side.

I was surprised to read some of the reviews as my experience was actually great... Maybe because I weent on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy? Anyway came here and ordered the corn fritters - which by the way are the best corn fritters I've ever had (with hallumi) and a mango smoothie. The waiter was super friendly and very tentative. So I will be back here for sure to eat those delicious fritters again!

Great coffee, sandwiches (chorizo is awesome) and corn fritters are my usual favourites! Place is a little crammed inside, lovely outdoor seating. Service is friendly and efficient.

Great coffee. They are changing up the menu to make it a bit more interesting. Staff are friendly. They use Allpress coffee. Gets busy on the weekend. Get in before 10am.

One of the best eggs benedicts I've had in a while. Touché to the lads for helping counteract the effects of a pesky hangover. I tip my lid....
Service was also great. Will be back for sure!

Astounded by how shocking the service at this establishment is. After initially losing the order the staff then failed to acknowledge us while we stood inside waiting to pay. Food did not make up for the inattentive and rude staff. Will never go back.

This place is garbage! Such a wasted opportunity. It pains me that such a great spot is spoilt by bad coffee, worse service and putrid food. I'm basing this off 4+ visits over a year. It still upsets me walking past on a sunny morning to think what could be in its place!

Food: Amazing! We had the corn fritters with halloumi and the veggie breakfast. Superb. Excellent coffee as well.

Location: Lovely little spot, close to the water. Great atmosphere with lots of adorable dogs!

Service: TERRIBLE! Never will I be returning, just because the service is awful. There were no wait staff, no attention is paid to the customers. I understand they were very busy, but they were rude and annoyed. They didn't come to our table to serve us. They brought the wrong food out. The cups were filthy. When we paid there was no ' thanks, have a nice day'. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Overall, the service is just abysmal that I won't be returning, no matter how good the food is. They need to get more wait staff!
Lux
Worst table service. The cafe is tiny but they can't manage to get a menu to you unless you pester them, otherwise prepare to wait for them to notice you 15 mins after you sit down, even if there are only 6 other people in the cafe. Poor attitude from staff and forgotten orders. I needed to follow up on my coffee 3 times over 30 mins before they started to make it.

If it’s a sunny, cheerful spot you’re in need of, away from the buzz of it all but not quite in the water, finding yourself at Elizabeth Bay Cafe could be just what the doctor ordered.

As indicated before, service was extremely slow and it took a while to place orders and even longer to get our food (which was surprising given that our orders were pretty simple). Coffees (Allpress) were standard delivery time and well made, however strangely delivered in the wrong cups. The long black was served in a cappuccino cup and my flat white was served in a long black cup… not quite sure what happened there! Elizabeth Bay Café also is very popular for takeaway coffees, so hats off to the barista.
Vivi
Worst service ever. Didn't want to take our order. After finally 10min nothing on he menu was available.
Cameron
No matter how good the food and coffee is it doesnt make up for the abysmal service at this place. Foolishly I've been there several times, but never again!
Sophia
Worst service ever. After sitting outside at the table for at least 10 minutes and telling the waitress we were there, we still did not get served. We decided to sit inside in hope of placing our order. The waitress walked over and then turned her back to us to take someone else's order. So rude and not worth the experience.

Food was good but not worth it for the service.
Eating-For-Me
What a pretty name for a less than average cafe in Potts Point. The wait staff are less than attentive, and came across uninterested in their customers, food and presentation. I had the Ali Baba and let's just say the flavours were confusing and just off. I can only say, refrain from eating up at the little cafe on the hill, it's just not worth the wait or the disappointment.

I heard about this Cafe on Urban Spoon.
We sat down and got served 15 minutes after asking the waitress to come over. she served 2 people ahead of us that only just sat down.
The crockery is dirty.
The food was ok. Overpriced for what it was. I would not go back to this place, or bring people here.

Really yummy breakfast & good service. Perfectly poached eggs & lovely sourdough toast! The grilled halloumi is amazing on the veg breakfast! Coffee was strong & hot.

Delicious Breakfast!! I had the Buttermilk pancakes that were fluffy and rich in flavor! My hubby had the veggie breakfast with Ham as an extra and it was really yummy as well. The service was great and very friendly staff! Will def' be back!

I've been 4 times now. Service is always poor, 'too cool for school' but Food is nice.

Love the EBC. Its my local cafe and the food is always great and coffee is exceptional, too. They get very busy on the weekends and you will have to wait for a table. Have had great eggs Benedict and beans on sourdough and poached eggs. I love the little touch of lime zest sprinkled on the eggs, gives it some edge. It is my first choice for brekky in the area.

Disappointed. Went there for lunch and after wandering around for a while had to ask to see a menu, then had to ask after 20mins to get water for the table. The guys working seemed to think they were far too cool. Service was painfully slow considering the cafe was very quiet - had to wait 40 mins for corn fritters - they were nice but nothing amazing. Would not recommend.
Dan
Very good. Sensational corn fritters
omelette was funny though - it was left in all the component parts rather than having the ingredients added to the egg. still enjoyable though.
good coffee.

Amazing beans, really nice guys who run the place.

Great Food & Coffee... But.... I rave about this cafe to anyone that will listen - I'm a local and this is one of the best cafes in the area. The food is really great. Love the corn fritters and then beans! The coffee is also excellent.

But seriously, the too cool for school attitude is getting on my nerves. The last couple of times I've been there not one staff member has acknowledge that I walked through the door! They seem to care about everything except for the patrons - very strange... Whoever owns it obviously couldn't care otherwise he/she would address the criticisms.

I don't mind waiting for food but I do mind if I have to order it myself and take the plates to the kitchen!

I will go back but only one more chance...lol
Johno
Smashed an awesome pancake and poached egg with sourdough breakfast this morning.
Very satisfied with the service and fresh food. Cheers to the girls for a job well done.

I went here on Saturday. Yes I had to wait somewhere between 3-5 minuets for a table, but I was attended to promptly and assured a table would be offered to me as soon as it became available.

The coffee was exceptional, among our table of 4 we divulged about three each. I was unsure about what to order from the menu and started to hunger panic, but the kind and patient waitress suggested the vege feast, and I went with her recommendation.

All of my tables food was served at the same time, which although should be standard, it is becoming a forgotten etiquette.

My breakfast was hands down delicious. The servings were generous and extremely well presented, it called for an Instagram moment.

I eat out for breakfast 4 out of 7 days a week and I havent had a breakfast so fulfilling in months. I highly recommend this place for taste, value and service.

As for the critique on the slow service; great things come to those who wait. A busy cafe is generally a sign of a good cafe.

Oh brother!. I can't really rate the food - placed order and waited 45 minutes. Had to leave (this is a cafe and 30 minutes for a simple egg dish should be enough time mid Sunday morning). The barista brother raced up the street insisting I pay for and take the meal in a bag (as it was finally ready). Nice one bro. They seem too busy serving take away coffee to care for patrons 'locked-in' waiting for their food orders.
