Review Meet Fresh - Sydney

Camille
My go-to dessert place on a hot summer's day ! I enjoy their mango bingsu, definitely worth the money as portions are good for value. This place holds many memories, and is pretty spacey. They have an upstairs and outdoor seating area perfect for big gatherings. I personally love their original taro ball shaved-ice dessert. Thanks Meet Fresh !

I would give minus rating if that option available. Taste: imagine a bowl of watery ice with thin coconut milk dumped into it. That's pretty all there is, regardless of what you order. The pictures totally deceiving. Service: very unfriendly. Ambience: sticky tables, none of the food has oil, otherwise tables would be greasy too, too cramped. Price: overpriced for what you get. Also only WeChat Pay, Alipay and cash (AUD, not RMB) available. Don't accept payments by cards. It's like this store think they were in China.

Meet Fresh offers healthier and more delicious alternatives to traditional desserts such as cakes ice-cream. It offers a number of different ingredients such as Taro Balls, Pudding and Jelly combined with Ice. This means the desserts offer less sugar and is more delicious as well.

Authentic traditional Taiwanese dessert including shaved iced, frappe, cold and hot sweet soups. Quite enjoy flavours of home without having to fly all the distance!! Very generous serving size. Newly renovated. Minimal table service.

I like their herb bowl as well as the mango ice crush. I ordered the big size of mango ice crush and I really recommend that it's the best for 2-3, not 1! I like their herb desserts, most of them!

I’ve been to here multiple times, and I noticed that the seats downstairs are getting dirty. So we had to move upstairs and I accidentally touch the area below the table and my hand was full of dirty things and I have to wash them as quickly as possible. The desserts still tastes good. Except for the sticky rice with red bean, there was only a super thin layer of coconut milk, and after two scoops, the milk was gone, and we have to ate the remaining in the bowl without any coconut milk!

Have tried Meetfresh many times over the past years and it used to be a quality dessert place. This time I ordered the mango coconut sago with extra taro balls and was disappointed. The staff completely missed out the taro balls and the quality overall was lacking. The dessert place around the corner is much better.

A good dessert place for some traditional Taiwanese sweet dishes. The iced herb jelly with shaved ice is quite popular in Summer. You can also get Asian-style warm deserts during winter.

perfect to share with a friend! can't go wrong with the $7.5 signature taro ball

Quality and service wasn’t good at all. Ice was minimal and completely melted when they served it. No wonder all their stores are closing

My favourite thing to get here is just the herbal ice! I know it sounds weird but it's something about the flavouring that makes it so addictive. This time however, I got herbal jelly no 3 which had red beans, pearls and peanuts which tasted great! Perfect for summer!

Always a great way to end off any trip in the city. Every dessert has a great mix of textures, flavours and even temperatures! Would definitely recommend getting a few of the classics and just sharing it with a few friends.

I’ve been craving for meet fresh for a week and it was the time where I had the chance to eat it. I ordered signature herbal jelly and they’ve got herbal jelly, pearls, and taro served on top a shaved ice and they got you a small cup on milk for you to pour it on top. It was very nice as the shaved ice has a lot of flavour in it, I think it was because of the simple syrup they put in. I really liked this and it’s recommended to try

I absolutely adore Meet Fresh. I love the grass jelly, the pearls, the shave ice, the taros, and taro balls. It is a perfect treat which I come back again and again, I can’t get sick of it and it’s such sad news to hear that there are only two franchises left.

Had the Mango sago pudding. Wasnt all that but i will be back to try more desserts including the drinks! Location is in the centre of Haymarket and the ambience is very spacious and nice. There is also an upstairs.

Told the lady I wanted a regular milk tea and she gave me a lemon tea, I don’t even understand how a regular milk tea is interpretated into lemon tea. I told the staff that my order was wrong and that I ordered a milk tea and she said she confirmed my order which she did not and said I ordered lemon. Which I did not know they even had a thing called lemon tea????? They were so rude and just stood there and did not fix my order. I am so disappointed.

The apple fruit tea was nice and refreshing and funnily enough the same price as the Taiwanese shaved ice pudding, but wasn't too bad considering that neither were too expensive. The shaved ice with jelly and pearls was good but they skimped on the shaved ice, which is apparently atypical. The service was speedy and the overall experience and taste was pretty good, but didn't live up to my expectations as much as I'd hoped it would.

The Meet Fresh in Melbourne closed down, but we figured we would give this one a try when on the hunt for a place to have a sit down dessert (rather than wander around busy streets with ice cream in hand).
It was full on a Friday night, with the tables upstairs all occupied (and the area very noisy). After a short wait, we opportunistically snapped up a table outside as it was vacated. We went inside in search of copies of the menu to take back to the table to work out what to order..only to find that there were none. There was just one laminated sheet with descriptions of the items that had to stay at the counter, and other items on rotating display on the screen above the counter (but not listed on the menu).
We decided what to have after watching the screens go through options a few times, and after placing our orders were given a buzzer to take back to the table.
We returned to the counter to pick up our orders when the buzzer went off, and found that they bore faint resemblance to the pictures displayed.
The mango sorbet, mango pieces, black sticky rice, and coconut components were served on a rectangular dish. The milk had no coconut aroma. The sorbet had fine grain and tasted of mango. The mango pieces tasted like they had been sweetened though, and were overly sweet. The black sticky rice was appropriately chewy and sticky.
The mango and coconut sago had similar components, really, only with more coconut milk, and sago instead of the sticky rice.
Overall, it was alright, but not spectacular. Being outside meant that we could actually hear each other at the table, but were often exposed to cigarette smoke from people walking past.

Look at this dogshit of a food at Meet Fresh Haymarket Chinatown Sydney... Ordered a King Mango, and got something similar to a plate of disgusting puke... at least give us the full amount as advertised. No wonder all the Meet Fresh stores are closing down. Absolutely rubbish.

Tofu red bean peanuts is very very good. Very warming when served hot. The shaved mango ice was huge but tastes rather refreshing. It was more of a eye grabber of a dish. Mango tasted a bit off but maybe it is because I am so spoiled by high grade mangoes. I think Xi wanted to test my belly but I survived... Phewww

Nice spot to enjoy some Taiwanese desserts. We sat on a table outdoors. Ordered the tofu pudding combination and mango shaved ice. Generous portions and reasonable prices.

More photos in blog :)

Not being a native Sydney-sider, I was unaware that MeetFresh was an institution. From what I gather, I think it is similar to how we have associated Dessert Story in Melbourne with a place to chill after dinner, a stopover for a late night adventure. The MeetFresh store in Sydney’s Chinatown certainly has the space for it, being a two-level store.

I always go here with my family and friends. It is a great place to hangout or to have a meet up with some old friends. The taste is delicious and addictive. I’m craving it right now 🤤
Foodie1993
This place is really good. Love their winter melon tea. So refreshing and clean tasting. Really nice after an oily dinner or in summer to cool you down

C: Ordered a lemon tea after a long hot day making it super super refreshing. It’s very authentic lemon tea as well, might be too sweet but you can also order half sugar. The portion sizing was huge so it took me a few hours before I finished it all making it worth it for the price. Good place to sit and chat with friends so overall worthwhile experience :))

I ordered the hot red bean milk tea and the signature tofu pudding , and the portion so poor, tasted very soso. the dessert didnt look as good as in the pictures
Michreviews
Actual rating: 3.5/5
Been here several times but this is my first time doing a review for it. Ordered the signature herbal jelly, realised that pearls portion has lessen and the texture is no longer that chewy. Other than that, the taro balls and herbal jelly was good.
JuYeethejoey
It is conveniently located in Chinatown and open till late night. The cafe is packed with people although it is late night. We tried the hot soy bean pudding taro on a cold windy night and it was so comforting.
Eunifoodie
Awesome dessert place - quick service and decent prices. Their herbal jelly is awesome and I definitely would recommend the mango shaved ice!

The food, prices and portions were pretty good. There's a dining area upstairs, as well as outside. Only faults are that most of the menu is in Chinese, there aren't any prices listed and it's cash only.
Nice place to try at least once if you're after some Taiwanese desserts.
Garry Huang
Classic Taiwanese dessert and super convenient if you’re craving shaved ice. The flavours are fresh and the variety of toppings is great. Nothing to complain about the price, it’s pretty cheap. The bowls are less than $10 but the shaved ice can be more expensive, though its good to share.
William Wu
I frequent this shop because it offers cheap desserts and also plenty of seats. It's a good place to take a brief rest, or to have something to discuss with friends.

There're 2 floors. Order at the counter and you'll be given a bell. Once it rings you should go there again and pick the order up by yourself.

{Red Bean Taro Coconut Black Sticky Rice} is a very warm winter dessert. It would be better if coconut soup could be more. But overall it tastes OK.
Adi Marco Tobie
The Signature Taro is sooo good! One of the best Taiwanese shaved ice I have had. The taro balls are chewy and the tapioca pearls add a nice touch. The shaved ice has this black sugar taste that is yummy. I also ordered the Silken Tofu which is ok. The ambience of the place is nice and cozy, with Mando pop music playing in the background. Great place to chill and hang out with friends.

Love it!
Mango sago was delish!
Those mango gelato is delicate, smooth in texture.
Signature tofu dessert also enjoyable.
Have alfresco sitting and also sitting also available on second floor.

Was wandering through Chinatown and when I came across MeetFresh I knew instantly I would be back for dessert that night! Coming from Brisbane, we had one here, however, it shut down! I ordered my go to herbal jelly signature bowl and my partner ordered the coconut mango sago bowl. Both desserts were great tasting! I will miss this place!
Tanya
Meet fresh is such a great ending to a good meal! So refreshing and light with all the right Asian flavours. The Chinatown store is the best one I’ve been to. Some of the other stores can be hit and miss with the taro pieces and quality of the other ingredients.
Kristen Chan
Delicious Asian desserts at a really affordable price. The service is normally decent, there's lots of comfy seating here and portions are great for one person or to share
C.L
Came here for herbal jelly and taro balls many times, really like their stuff and also bean curd jelly. I went to four meet fresh in NSW and I think this one is the best.
Manz
Can't say I'm a huge fan of most Asian desserts to start with, after eliminating mango (allergy), red bean, green beans & taro (just don't like), it actually wipe out most of the menu. Still full from lunch, wanted something light for dessert. But it was just frustrating to see want they actually offer on the menu, which is on a flickering screen behind the counter, and doesn't tell you what variations or toppings they do. In fact I just wanted a plain tofu pudding with no toppings, but it's not on the menu & not clear whether it's available. There were also no prices. Overall the food & drinks were alright, but just not an enjoyable experience.
Brekkycakes
Great for asian style desserts. The shaved ice desserts are great for a hot day. Got the red bean ice($9.80) which was a massive serving plenty for 3 and with generous amounts of red bean. Interior is nothing too special but there are plenty of seats and not bad for a catch up.

Mango pomelo gak enak biasa aja encer jus nya ,

Es campur nya lebih parah gak ada rasa

Doesn’t meet expectation with the name fresh

Terlalu biasa ..

A good dessert place for some traditional Taiwanese sweet dishes. The iced herb jelly with shaved ice is quite popular in Summer. You can also get Asian-style warm deserts during winter.

I come here for the herbal jelly desserts. The oolong milk tea and other bubble teas are great. But the mango shaved ice contains chopped up peaches (instead of real mango) and mango syrup.

My partner is a strawberry lover and likes to come here for the Pink explosion.
E
Refreshing and not too sickly sweet which is good as these certain desserts often can be an overload of sugar. I enjoyed their tofu pudding and tried some of their duo deluxe pudding. Serve size could be more. Their top ten list is helpful.
The Sydney Tram
Been to different Meet Fresh stores but the one in Chinatown serves the best Taiwanese desserts. Perhaps the variation in taste depends on the staff who prepare the ingredients. The herbal jelly, tofu pudding, and taro balls are my faves! They simply delicious and refreshing. Tried the giant shaved ice mango bowl but it was way too sweet and tasted a little bit artificial. In the meantime, I'll stick to the handmade dessert bowls.
Foodie In Paradise
A very busy Asian dessert place in Chinatown on the weekend. Tried a few of their dessert and drinks, there were quite similar to the dessert that we could get at dessert story and taro taro. The dessert taste average but refreshing.
Mizpiggy
A really good value place for Asian desserts in the heart of Chinatown in Sydney CBD.

We went for their signature mango ice blend which was huge - great dessert to share between 2 or one person who can eat a lot and love sweets. I also went for their wintermelon tea which was quite refreshing and nicely brewed.

Overall great place for a dessert stop anytime of the day. Good value for money for some yummy traditional Asian desserts
Hmasknoxinator
Clean and quiet dessert place - staff are especially attentive with up to three people serving one customer at any time! Great value for interesting Taiwanese shaved ice combinations.
Joey Anderson
lovely dessert soup, try that herb jelly for the first time, very strangely satisfying, I had a warm one, like soup but sweet and herby, and all the chewy bits, sweet potato balls, red bean, intresting!
MealzxD
Still, no place does asian desserts better than meet fresh. It has a vast menu of drinks, and shaved ice with various textural toppings that keep me coming back. It's just a great place for some yummy refreshing dessert. The ambiance is also nice being more quiet in the afternoons, and bustling in the late night. Personally, I love the signature herbal jelly. I have to say though, it's kinda inconsistent as sometimes you get smaller portions than usual which is pretty disappointing.
Pignic_
Meet Fresh is my go-to dessert place for Asian desserts! It is right at the heart of Chinatown, so it's really easy to find and there's always a lot of people, especially during late nights. Their 'signature tofu pudding' with taro balls and pearls is simply awesome. It makes me wanna revisit Taiwan everytime I have it.
Genevieve
I absolutely adore Meet Fresh! It's a great end to a night in Chinatown. It's usually packed whenever I've been there but we still manage to get a seat. Service is generally friendly and punctual, however I do have a slight issue with their menu - It's not made particularly clear and a lot of it is often in Mandarin, which is great if you can understand the language - not so great if you can't. That being said, my usual order is the mango coconut sago which is really good - a bit inconsistent though, sometimes certain elements will be missing - for example the sorbet isn't always there.

Despite the flaws, I'll still be returning to Meet Fresh in the future :)

So good!! So clean and the staff are so friendly. It's a little gloomy in here, especially up top if you like a lot of sunlight. The waffles were really good and the milk tea as well, the mega one is only $6.8 and you get so much tea!!

Getting worse and worse and worse
Especially the take away and delivery, can't be worse
送它三个字,洗碗水 。。。。。。。。。
点个外卖等了一个多小时 就一碗洗碗水。从最初的红豆沙 做成红豆汤 再做成红豆泡水。 无良的商家。
Lonelymoon
This was pretty good and wasn't too expensive. We went during non-peak time so there were no lines and no rush what so ever. It's a great place to talk and at the same time chill with your friends. The mango shaved ice was really nice and very sweet.
Luna Bento
Super refreshing and relatively cheap, one bowl of shaved ice with toppings can easily feed two people. Not overly sweet, but can always satisfy my sweets cravings :) I love herbal jelly, so we usually get Herbal jelly + tapioca balls + red beans + taro (No. 4 from Herbal series). We also tried red beans + tapioca balls + taro balls, which wasn't bad but the lack of herbal jelly simply doesn't suit my taste. Not a fancy place, but I would come back regularly to have one of the best shaved ice in the city.
Samantha Loy
Visited on a friday night and the place was packed. Dessert was good and the portion was acceptable, want to try the mango dessert on next visit
Sophie 👑
Good late night dessert option! Always get their herbal jelly desserts which I love (particularly Herbal Jelly No.4 because I love red bean) and if in a big group, it is always good to pitch in for the crushed mango dessert. The service here is quite slow but it is understandable because of the huge groups at night
Tran Julie
This place is always popular and busy. When it gets super packed, it gets awkward waiting for a table to be vacant on both floors of the venue. I usually enjoy the signature herbal jelly and the tofu menu items here. Service is pretty average and sometimes staff is a bit slow to clear and clean tables after customers leave. Nonetheless the menu is super affordable and the desserts hit the spot after a good meal ~ヽ(・∀・)ノ
Unvenomous
Did I mention I love Sichuan hot food? Especially the Red chilli Next to it?

this shop is my savior after I finish my hot and spicy Sichuan food!

don't forget their "one whole orange tea" on Friday Chinatown market.
Fatty Lam Chop
Good chinese desert bar. Speedy service. And good seating outside and upstairs.

On a hot day the shaved ice items will cool you down and when it's cold the warm chinese desserts will keep you warm so there is something for all weather conditions at meetfresh.

Mango sago. Cant go wrong
Atashi New
Terrible service. I've been waiting for a cup of milk tea almost an hour. The staff not even said sorry. Their milk tea tasted really bad. It's the worst milk tea in my entire life! NOT RECOMMENDED!!! I won't go back again!

My friend ordered choco blast, to be honest it tasted very very simple, not worth for the price. This one came quick but looks like it's already melted before serving. again NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
HungKiat Lam
Just order and mega winter melon tea at chinatown here and we wait for 18 mins for this. However, 2 more customer after me get the dessert before which make me feel so dissapointed on the customer service at all of they provide.
Tulika Kabra
A great dessert place!! The options for the desserts 🍨 are vast and different. Loved it!!! Service was quick and ambience was great too. Overall a good place to quickly grab desserts with friends and family. Will definitely be back guys!!!
Don C
Great place for a sweet tooth and something to cool you down on a hot day, if only you're willing to wait. Their shaved ice bowls are excellent in portion size, and while the toppings are a mix of fresh and not-fresh, they are still tasty.

Their hot dishes are also not too bad, with their silken tofu in ginger syrup very reminicent of my childhood. I'm not a huge fan of herbal jellies and teas in general, but the ones offered here are nice enough that I'm also okay with having them if they have something special as a seasonal dish/drink.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Good late night dessert option. We tend to always get the mango flavoured desserts as they are familiar and refreshing. Service was a bit slow the evening we visited but there quite a few large groups.
Novi Sumarto
I have had the original one when i was in china. Its my fave treats on a summer day. Or they can serve some items hot, to warm your winter day.
It's still taste the same as the original. Just more pricey here in syd。
But it's supper yummy, love the texture of the taro and sweet potato balls.
Miffy7
Needing a refreshing dessert we came here and decided on their mango shaved ice which was a generous serve that is best for two and we added some additional topping of taro balls and sago. My husband also wanted to try their mango, coconut and sago which was a perfect size for one person and was probably the best out of the two.

We have been here before (years ago) but noticed now the store doesn't have proper menus. They have a screen with some menu items and print outs of what's new/special which became annoying when we arrived and wasn't sure of what we really wanted. If they had full menus available it will make the queue move faster.

Good place to visit in summer when we want a lighter/refreshing dessert that is also reasonably priced.
Melissa Gabriele
Their dessert is all right, however it is not amazing. For that price, I find the dessert worth it though. It is a perfect hang out place if you just want to chat and order something light to share with friends.
The Happy Tummy
Well I have been planning for a long time to try out Meet Fresh's King Mango Crush Ice. So off we go to Chinatown one winter night to fulfill my promise to myself. I immediately ordered their King Mango Crush Ice. I know the serving was big but didn't know it was huge! It's enough to feed four people.

The shaved mango ice on top was velvety and creamy. While the bottom crushed milk ice provided the crunch and subtle sweetness. It came with a few pieces of mango that gave it a fresh taste. The calories from this one are totally worth gaining for. The only thing you'd want would be more mango pieces on top!
Melisa
MEET FRESH. our to go dessert at late night ( closed before midnight i think - Chinatown branch ) and such spacious place so can fit more people. :D
basically i (almost) always order signature herbal jelly ;p thats goooddd. taste great. but i have tried some other menus such as mango/ strawberry crushed ice.. and etc
Miki Lim
Get the Duo Delux Pudding Drink!!!

Always full of chinese people getting desserts (red bean on ice with black jelly and syrup etc.) or pearl/bubble tea

As someone who is not a big fan of patbingsu (korean name for red bean on ice) or any of these similar chinese desserts they serve at meet fresh, I sometimes dreaded going here with my Chinese or Taiwanese friends, knowing I wasnt a big fan of their desserts.

They have a drink with milk jelly, yellow pudding pearls etc and Ice cream on top called Duo Delex. It will literally save your day when dining here with Asian friends. Totally delicious compared to the ice beans.

They also seem to have introduced mango desserts. Pretty sure a mango smoothie type thing will beat the ice beans too.

Don't give up on meet fresh because you dont like ice beans. Look for the tastier options!
Trang Diem Tran
Service is very poor. There was so many staff in the kitchen but not enough staff in front of the counter. I wasted my time coming here should go to Cha time or gong Cha better at first. The language that the staff can only speak is either Chinese (canto/mandarin) no one can speak English so there is a lack in their own language background. Overall the staff is not sufficient enough to help a customer out.
Jmanchatty
Good for a late night dessert and a different type of dessert from your normal chocolate dishes. Love the squishy cube things (taro) and pretty delicious when you add the (flower?) Milk. Recommend the dishes with taro and grass jelly
LingLing
1.5 ☆
Disgusting. Would never come back to this outlet again, it's disgusting. Should try another meet fresh. The thing they made me tasted like they had it made already and it's sitting on the bench for the past hour.
Kathryn Koo
As displayed and as served!! Where are the diced mango?? Over priced at 12.80 charged. Attitude of the guy waiter is not friendly at all. Others are average.
Mat
Came here after dinner to try out Asian styled dessert. I'm usually a little hesitant when it comes to Asian desserts as menu's are usually extensive and listed with very foreign sounding dishes lol. This time I referred to the pictures and decided to order the 'herbal tea'. When this item arrived I was a bit overwhelmed as I saw corn flakes on top of ice cream and blue berries ... Underneath it was some herbal jelly like substance ... It surprisingly tasted good! I'll probably visit place again soon!
Hello. Imnikki
The first time I tried Meet Fresh was in Taiwan and I was very much impressed. But for some reason the craving never came when Meet Fresh opened up in Melbourne and instead, it was Meet Fresh in Sydney that brought out that craving. So when we dropped in, the bar was already set high. Big mistake. Firstly the price was not shown clearly so there was some confusion when ordering. Secondly the cashier forgot to put through the order before mine and was accidentally added onto my order, but kudos to her for realising it. Lastly, the coconut mango sago and herbal cup that we ordered was nothing but sweetness. The herbal cup at least had crushed ice to neutralise the sweetness but the coconut mango sago was just hard to swallow. The canned mangoes may be the culprit as canned mangoes would have absorbed the sugar syrup in the can. The only upside was that its presentation was more visually appealing than lump of ice cream on the herbal cup. That lump of ice cream however did taste very similar to a Macca's soft serve which to me is a plus. I'm sure their signature taro ball series of dessert cannot be as bad as our unfortunate choices so I guess lesson learned - stick to the signature dishes.
Take And Eat
Signature Taro Balls and Coconut Mango Sago.

+ The Coconut Mango Sago was refreshing and packed full of flavour.
+ Large portions at an affordable price.
+ Tastes almost as good as my favourite sago dessert from Hong Kong.
+ A lot of seats to cater for different group sizes.

- Signature Taro Ball dish was a bit too bland- needs more syrup.
Green Lee
Terribly service, terrible attitude. It had been serval times that they made mistakes on content or providing inadequate add-on content. That's okay. But they always try to deny the mistake first or argue with customers, ruining customers experience and their time.
Those Who Love To Eat
Came here with a friend after lunch. Can't say that I'm a huge fan of Asian dessert but they had some really refreshing desserts here. We ordered the coconut mango sago and the taro special and they were just delightful, though I prefer my friends signature taro special( I think it was called) well, that's what I remembered it to be anyway.
Their beeper pager means that you can grab a seat whilst waiting for your order, which means you're not blocking thoroughfare. Bonus! As the counter and waiting area is quite contained and the walk way, narrow. They have an upstairs sitting area with cool air conditioning. Not much to comment about the deco. There wasn't any! Just uniform white tables and chairs thrown together to form some sort of seating. Come here for the dessert, that's what this place is all about!
Salena
This branch of the Meet Fresh chain is the best I've ever seen. Last time I had the mango crushed ice, there was barely any mango to flavour the crushed ice so we had to ask for syrup for the ice. This time the mango was abundant and it was a good dessert.
Corinne Liu
Meet Fresh has become my favourite dessert. I don't know what it is, well I do. It's the chewiness of the taro balls, texture of the red beans & taro, and the sweetness of the syrup drenched ice. My favourite by far is the Signature Taro Ball: pearls, taro, red bean, taro balls & ice! You essentially make your order, receive a buzzer, and collect your order once the buzzer rings. The idea of a refreshing dessert = yes! Definitely try it, don't be afraid to. I certainly was.
DroolWorthyWorld
With the raging heat in Sydney over the past two days, the refreshing drinks and desserts at Meet Fresh were much welcome. In Chinatown, there's a huge and very busy Meet Fresh branch with two stories for dining. You pay at the counter and receive a buzzer. I discovered my new favourite iced tea drink - the Meet Fresh Green Tea which is uber refreshing and has that subtle bitterness of the Green Tea. Their mixed berry waffle is really colourful and pretty. The taste though could be better, the waffle was somewhat a dry and even with the addition of syrup, it didn't soften it up. I much prefer my waffles to be fluffier. I have tried the mango iced dessert before which I also highly recommend. It's basically a huge tower of yummy mango bits, mango syrup and shaved ice. Very good to share with a bunch of friends!
Monica
The place to go if you are after some Taiwanese desserts after a meal.
My go to is the Signature Herbal Jelly Bowl (hot or cold) with tapioca pearls, sweet potato and taro nuggets.
The sweet potato and taro nuggets are chewier than I had it last time, but other than that, everything else is delicious.
MsK
Place is spacious with limited seating outside but plenty inside upstairs. Music is a little too loud causing patrons to have to speak loudly and when everyone is speaking loudly it's quite jarring to the ears after awhile. Was good to have the cold herbal ice tea after a long day of shopping whilst others had the herbal jelly with taro and red bean and milk tea.
Orange_tree
First visit to the Chinatown branch after their renovations. I'm not certain this makeover has been for the better and this rating reflects my experience. Menus are now rotated on LCD screens behind the counter so you pretty much have to stand for a few minutes to wait for the screens to cycle through. Imagine a few people doing this all along the counter, the same place where others are ordering at the cashier and you can see how quickly that maybe this wasn't the best idea. To top that, prices aren't displayed for most of the menu items which probably breaks a couple of laws. I ordered an herbal tea (grass jelly) which was ridiculously sweet as my request for a less sweeter version was met with flat refusal. Ended up tossing the drink away because sugar water is not good eats.
FoodGloriousFood
The desserts here are pretty good value and really refreshing. You can get a whole bowl of refreshing herbal jelly for about $6.50. The taro balls are confusing because they don't taste like taro- they taste more like chewy rice cakes. I normally just get the herbal jelly bowls because their other desserts are pretty expensive for what you get.

Addicted to meet fresh! My obsession with meet fresh has been an enduring one,,, through the good times and the bad times we meet again and again...

My favourite to order is always "signature herbal jelly" without pearls. Lately I asked them to add green beans + barley + vanilla ice cream. Plus a dash of milk when I eat it's the best Asian desert imaginable ;)

The business is obviously thinking strategically by expanding offering of deserts in both hot & cold. Pancake based deserts looks vibrant and mouth watering with a good serving of fresh fruits or rich chocolate! It is never boring at Meet Fresh!

However the environment although a good improvement still little messy and chaotic! They also need to be less strict or stingy with their milk pockets (strictly 1 per eligible order) ;( seriously?! Take it easy!
Gummi_x
Love their signature grass jelly dish + taro balls + tapioca. Got takeout the first time we visited in Sydney but the portion seems to be a lot smaller than if you were to stay in. It was so good that we have to eat it again the night before our flight home!
Catherine C
As an Asian, I don't really like this one 'pancake'. Green tea ice cream was too sweet. It lost the real green tea flavour. I would rather go to Japanese restaurant to have green tea ice cream. Everything inside was just too sweet, nothing special.
FoodsterAu
Located in the busy Chinatown.. you would have probably seen it if you're walking by or waiting in line for Mamak (right next door). The concept of bring Asian style desserts into Sydney was genius. when it first launched the lines were out the door... and for what?? piles of ice with a side of dessert? I think the multiple times I've come here I don't think I've really enjoyed any of their desserts but yet I keep coming back to try and find something I will. It's a shame as asian desserts is something I love when I'm overseas but this place is just too commercial and there's not enough love in their food. I mean it still gets its fair share of diners but that's probably due to its great location. Personally I'd give it a miss from now on... but ey.. if you're curious... then give it a go.

Delicious!!
Love their coconut mango sago and mango milk crushed ice!
I've always walked past Meet Fresh but never gone in. This was my first time having it and absolutely loved it.
Its relatively cheap and fast service.
I will definitely go back to try their other desserts!

The first time I encountered this banner was in Sydney when I walked pass the corner of Dixon and Sussex Streets. There were lots of people lining up to place orders. Traffic was packed but services are so systematic. I took a tray and walked up to upstairs dining area, where was so packed with happy customers. I am so proud with them to set up such sweet treats outlet and introduce different food culture to Australia.

I'd say this place is really for Asian people.
I doubt any westerner will like the kind of dessert they serve here.
I ordered hot desserts, red bean hot soupy things and herbal jellie soupy things. and they weren't bad I guess - but they were more like another small meals rather than desserts. I don't see myself visiting here anytime near future but I thought it could be a good breakfast - it tastes like porridge made with red beans.

Meet Fresh, Haymarket offers simple and sweet options without any fuss. The is some variety (including the option between cold, with ice, and hot, with sweet red bean soup), with an option to customise your dessert dish, and the prices are reasonably inexpensive for dessert (cf. ice cream). The options are not exceedingly saccharine like Western desserts and there is a handful of ingredients that go into each of them (e.g., barley, sago, tapioca balls/pearls, taro, honey dew) which add to the textures.

The service at the Haymarket location has been consistently solid but, sadly, the ambience has been rather lacking both outside, with smokers and so much foot traffic, and inside, both downstairs and upstairs. There is a lack of seating downstairs, whereas upstairs has felt fairly muggy or stuffy.

On balance, we would probably patronise Meet Fresh again, in large part because there are few other good options available.

I usually love taro, pearls and crushed ice. Unfortunately, the dessert here is just not for me. Found it bland, watery and overpriced for what it is. Pass!

Throwback to high school days when I would frequently visit Meet Fresh in ridiculously sized groups because they could cater for us. When I found out that the Meet Fresh had renovated with a fresh look, I decided to check it out again. For those who are unfamiliar, Meet Fresh specialise in Taiwanese desserts consisting of shaved ice, herbal jelly, taro balls and much more. Signature Herbal Jelly Layers of sweet herbal jelly and taro balls are topped on a bed of herbal ice. The jelly has a mild sweet taste, fun to eat with the chewy taro balls. The herbal ice is also great for a hot day, a great alternative to ice cream. Contributed by Katrina

Yea it's exam times again, but I've already knocked off 3 so only 1 more to go! Just hoping I won't have to sit supps. So this post is well from about 2 months ago, when I was back in Sydney, in time for my friend's birthday. We wanted to try On Ramen's ramen burgers, however, they weren't on the menu, so normal ramen will have to do. p.s. just like all my over super overdue posts, I may have forgotten the prices somewhat, so they are all estimates, but a rough guide is better than no guide right? Japenese Curry Ramen - $13.90 I do love my japanese curry, but this one was the type that had that slight sour/bitter flavour. I don't really know what ingredient it is but I have tasted it in a few curries from different Japanese restaurants. Apart from that, the serving was ginormous. Plenty of noodles, but I would've preferred more meat and carrots. There were heaps of potatoes though, Ramen Set - $18.90 Your choice of ramen with 2 sides, salad and sashimi featured here. Didn't try this one, but bet it was better than my choice. Free Icecream! So the above set comes with a scoop of ice-cream for dessert. The flavours featured are black sesame and green tea. The flavours weren't bad but the texture was quite heavy and hard. It was probably stored at too low a temperature and had been repeatedly taken out and put back in. Lychee Cake from Savoy Bakery - $22 Of course, what would a birthday be without a birthday cake. This was our first lychee cake ever and I loved it. You know that egg white cream most Asian bakeries use? Well I just hate it, it takes like plastic, no offence, But this one, the cream was so smooth and a nice sweetness. I also liked the little pieces of lychee jelly throughout. And the sponge cake was really light Plus the flavour was evident, but did not taste artificial at all. Just LOVED it! Also a good price and great last minute find by me :P Taro Crushed Ice - $8.80 Of course a trip into Chinatown would not be complete without Meet Fresh My friends j

Herbal Jelly no1 is my all time favourite. They recently have a new menu called taro crushed ice which is my no2 favourite in meetfresh. their taro balls are chewy (yummy!) and said to be made using natural ingredients only ^^

Meet Fresh offers unique Taiwanese style desserts and I guess they are good without any real competitor in the market. The Western offerings such as the waffle above attempt to give an alternative to those that find these bowls of foreign material too challenging. However, it is only the signature bowls of jelly and taro balls that are worth trying...

Ahh, Meet Fresh. One of my favorite places that i went to in Australia. Wish we had one in Alberta. Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese desert chain that offers reasonable prices for their deserts. The name threw me off at first, i thought it was Meat Fresh - some weird butcher deli shop. But now that I look back, I laugh, Its a cute name. Deserts with taro balls, yam balls, nuts, red beans, ice cream and grass jelly among the many. They provide you with the little packets of cream if you wanted to add it to your already yummy desert. Most people mix it all up but I personally, like to just keep it like it is. You are able to order most of the deserts hot or cold, suiting the weather. I usually went to the one in Haymarket and it was always packed. Even though there is always a huge line, the staff is efficient and the line goes by quite fast. My favorite part is the shaved ice with herbal syrup, its quite refreshing and tasty. Reminds me of my childhood. They have a great menu, many items that

Everything at Meet fresh has a different texture to normal food. Some of the ingredients (honey, sweet potato, taro) seem normal but have been transformed so beyond recognition it ends up feeling quite fun and exploratory to eat. When it comes to actual taste it’s a bit harder to judge. Some things like honey taro balls are great but others like mashed Taro clash with the other ingredients.
