Review Priscillas - Sydney

Ella Linden
We came from Brisbane so we booked in for Drag’N’Dine and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was amazing and the entertainment was incredible. We were looked after by James that night who made sure we were well taken care of and was super friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back again when we return to Sydney!

A whale of a time! This is one restaurant that lives up to its fabulous namesake! The highlight of the evening is without a doubt the hourly drag show, so choosing your reservation to start with one will mean you might fit two shows into one night! The food itself is exquisite with great effort put in to create a delicacy, but take note you pay what it's worth so don't expect a cheap night out. It's mostly vegetarian but there are some great meat dishes as well. I recommend trying their amazing selection of cocktails, or if you don't drink the bar will whip up a bespoke mocktail to wow you!

There are SO many negative reviews on the Imperial, Priscillas & Drag n Dine pages mentioning the “appalling” “power-tripping” “rude” staff and I can confirm this is exactly what you should expect if you come here. I booked Drag & Dine for a hens night 5 months in advance, paying a deposit of $800 and the treatment we received on arrival was shocking. Specifically by the manager Zoe Simmons. I read a review about this manager which was posted a year ago (under Drag n dine) but i decided to still go ahead and book assuming it was a one off incident. It was NOT a one off incident, I had the exact same experience. I have since spoken to another person who experienced the same appalling service by Zoe 2 weeks prior to me. I have been in contact with the Sydney Collective and after a week of ignored emails, Laura from reservations who was extremely helpful escalated the case for me and I was refunded the deposit after i was told by Zoe that I would “absolutely not” be receiving a refund (we never actually attended Drag n dine as we were refused entry). Clearly there is a customer service issue at this venue that needs to be addressed and I would strongly advise against going here until management are replaced.

Came on a Sat night with a group of 6 and the place was jumping! Reservations a must but plenty of large group tables were available. The food was really delicious and they've completed a wonderful makeover from before. Nachos, crabcakes and paella were the highlights, but everything else was tasty too. The cocktails were creative and named after the drag queens. The service was attentive but not intrusive and it's a pity we missed out on the entertainment as we were leaving. Amex not accepted. Will definitely be back!

Don't judge a book by its cover. This traditional looking pub has been transformed on the inside. A little bit French, a little bit modern & a lot of quirky sassiness. Priscilla's offers drag & dine - beautiful food, a lot of which are plant driven & have South American influences & different drag performances every night. There is a huge menu to choose from which are all designed to share. Start with the signature zingy guac or one of the delicious ceviches. Move on to the vegetable driven section full of delicious items that even a carnivore would approve. Cauli & broc "wings" have a beautiful charred flavour then lightly coated & fried or perhaps "crabless" fritters which you won't miss animal protein, or the eggplant parmigiana - thin & crunchy. There is also whole fish, chicken achiote (which is so tender you can cut with a fork) or steak that are great to share, as well as paella both traditional and vegetarian. Don't leave without the lime brulee tart which is so tangy, so creamy & so delicious. The pineapple upside down cake is also a hit especially with their house made ice cream. Or end your night with a kick in the chilli choc brownie. With a fun cocktail list & wine list, coupled with entertainment & amazing vibes & food, Priscilla's is where you'd head to for a all rounder good night.

Fabulous place to dine and be entertained by a crazy and funny show. The staff are very lovely. The food is incredibly tasty and healthy. They are so willing to cater for all different diet requirements of my guests. Most of all everyone is very welcome from both the LGBT community and their friends.

Seeing all the good reviews, we must have just been unlucky. Booked the “drag and dine”. Paid $300 for an unworthy experience. Food was average and meh. No communication. You can’t call, email or reach this restaurant. The only good thing about this place were the drag queens- everything else, totally not worth it.

Signed up to Zomato just to write this review: I have NEVER had a bad time at The Imperial Hotel. I have been here countless times since the refurbishment - in all areas of the venue. I have brought my parents here for lunch at Priscilla's, I have brought my brother and his partner to Drag N Dine, I have celebrated friend's birthdays, danced my little heart out downstairs, seen amazing pole dancers mid-week, enjoyed Bingo at Imperial UP, joined an embroidery group downstairs in the atrium, you name it. The events, the regular entertainment, the bar menu, Priscilla's menu, the upstairs pizza and schnitty menu, I cannot fault The Imperial for anything. It is great for GF, vegan, vegetarian, or even just fussy eaters. The staff are welcoming, PATIENT (I have seen some doozies and the staff always handle it discretely and with self-respect -some customers can be just plain rude!), and friendly.
I always feel safe and comfortable and most importantly - included.
Am so proud to call this my local and if I ever move away, will make the trip back to visit time and time again.
Thanks for being rad Imperial!

We had booked a large table and organised a menu and to be upstairs. However this was changed and when we got there there was not menu organised for us. We were told that we just had to order off the normal menu. An announcement was made during the show being performed in the restaurant about a special but when we went to order it we were told it was only if you were sitting in the bar. We ordered some dishes for the table like potatoes skins and a king fish cheviche. However there was so much onion that you could taste the fish and the potato skins were such small pieces and crumbly that you couldn't pick them up to dip into the sauce. A couple of us ordered the slow cooked lamb which had lots hard dry bits. The cocktails were good as was the wine selection. The show was not what you would call interesting. However the performer Peaches had a few good moments.

There is a fantastic waitress with lovely short curly peachy hair and glasses who was an absolute dream! So helpful and attentive! She really made our night. I don’t know what her name was, but I look forward to coming back and being served by her again. I haven’t received such amazing service since I was in the states. Girl, you are an absolute pleasure. Thank you very much. I hope you read this one day.

One of the photos here is from their Rood Food menu, a roasted carrot with two zucchini herb balls with a creamy sauce, and let’s not get into interpreting what the rest of it was. Except to say: it was delicious. This menu was only on as a ‘pop-up menu’ on Mondays and Wednesdays for a month from 10 September to 10 October and also featured pannacotta breasts and other genitalia-inspired desserts and mains (and were accompanied by kinky cocktails).

The Imperial's a longstanding gay pub and most customers are gay but anyone can have a good time there. They've done a really good job on the main bar's ceiling and lighting - just walking past makes you want to go in. Friday night has a drag show in the main bar. The food's rather fancy and ludicrously expensive. We weren't there to eat but someone ordered the fries - perfectly cooked fries with nice herbs and a good spicy sauce but it cost $9 for a small bowl of fries...

Made this a Birthday dinner for 13. The veggie menu at $45 a head is so good value. I"m not a vegetarian but didn't miss the meat at all. So worth while. Service was also excellent.

Wow! The Imperial Hotel had a big makeover and the ground floor’s now huge with lots of dining options and even a sweet new outdoor area at the back. We’re impressed with all the veggie options and iconic drag queen cocktails. They plan to makeover and open the rooftop soon too! 🌈
