Review Wings And Tins - Sydney

Lorenzo Nevin
I'm a vegetarian and thought to bring my friend who is from Canberra this place to finally try it. The service was average. I was told that we didn't order the sweet potato fries so I went to order them and we got two anyway (fairly certain we paid for both). The fries were crispy which I loved to their credit. The 2 sets of wings that I ordered for me were average. The chickenless chicken was dry and the cauliflower were better but nothing to write home about. My friend said hers were pretty nice but we wouldn't go back. Atmosphere was pumping so you did have to raise your voice to be heard. Think it's more aimed for the carnivorous crowd but I was left with a pretty heavy stomach with not much to cut through all the fat I'd consumed 😂

Gotta say, the place was a little difficult to find. Hidden behind a back alley, eventually found it thanks to Google Maps. The House Buffalo sauce was really delicious, but the chicken was a bit of a letdown because it came delivered to the table a little cold. The chips were nice and crisp. The flavouring was on point. Self-service water was cold which was refreshing. Might reconsider visiting again? Don’t really see what all the hype was.

Really cute venue. The lady who served us was lovely and made great suggestions of what to try. The vibe is great and the wings were yummo! I had the Smokey Chipotle 😋

Every time I come here the wings, tins, service and music are great. Especially the Buffalo wings 👌. I miss the buttery lemon wings but what can ya do?

Great staff. Went for wing night. Good wings, but not much for spicy flavours with the exception of doom juice. The doom juice is really hot. You have to mix it with the other sauces then you can have every flavour but spicy. Definitely be back sometime for some more doom juice.

Did the beer and wings tasting, it was absolutely delicious and amazing! Highly recommend going even on a normal night. 10/10 will eat and drink there again!

Wings and tins had a strange atmosphere that wasn't welcoming at all.the staff seemed like they didn't want to be there working. The chicken wings were overcooked and the batter was soggy. The loaded tots with aioli and buffalo sauce was poor as all the melted cheese was on on the bottom of the tray and not actually ontop of the tots Don't understand all the hype about this place which is disappointing

Amazing wings

Great concept, hilarious owner and simple choices.

I had the Windjammer beer can while listening to some 80’s tunes.

I’ll be back for the wings for shizzle.

Super cool place to come to with your friends for a casual night out. A huge selection of canned beers behind the bar. Lots of options and flavours for wings- definitely recommend the Cajun ones. Overall funky little place to come to if you’re into cosy chill places.

If you love all things wings, this is your place. If you love all things foreign alcohol beverages, this is also your place. Huge selection of both items in abundance ensures there’s always something different to come back for

Real rating: 3.5/5
It’s super easy to miss the entrance of this hidden bar. The interior is awesome, love the vibes. The wings are pretty good, not mind blowing though. They’ve got a large range of different and interesting sounding sauces and spices for the wings so I would definitely come back to try the other flavours!

Great selection of Tins and Wings to choose from. Ordered quite a few of each to try. My favourite were the maple whisky which were sweet and Smokey. The wings are actually really salty especially the dry rub ones. I get that they’re probably salty to go with beer, but they were definitely more salty they what would be ideal.

Went in for wings special Wednesdays. Love the options for beers, great wings. The personalities of the different booths make it interesting as well. Would recommend the smokey Chipotle wings, all time favourite! The house buffalo is another one I enjoy every time.

Sneaky little dive bar with some really good chicken wings. They are a bit pricy but they are maximum tasty and there are fk loads of choices for flavour. They get wild spicy as well. I would head back for sure. I am a fan of early rather than late. It can get a bit busier later. Go on a Wednesday for half price wings and you are in heaven!

Does exactly what it says on the tin (get it?! 😂). I absolutely adore the decor here. Amazing place to chill and catch up with mates with wings and tins. Sure the wings aren't exactly mind blowing but they're decent and pretty reasonable in price especially on wednesday nights when the wings are half price. This deserves at least a 3.5 but since we don't have that, I guess a 4 would do. I don't tend to go back to places but I'd go back to this one.

The entrance needs to be more visible, the seating is cramped and uncomfortable, the wings where good but nothing to go crazy about all in all a decent experience but not amazing

Awesome place for a relaxed but fun time. Have been twice so far with small groups and have had such a fun time both times. Cheap food (love their version of Franks original wings), amazing selection of beer and the tin crushers are so fun. Some nights like half price wing night on Wednesdays can get really busy (we got there at 7 and had to wait an hour and a half) - so get there early and don't be surprised when the staff are run off their feet. If you're after a quiet night and refined table service this is not the place - expect loud music, quirky decor and sticky hands and you'll have a great time!

Staff were nice and helpful! The place is a bit hectic the music is extremely loud for a group it would be a nightmare to try and talk to everyone, it’s literally blasting. Luckily there was just two of us eating so we could chat ok.

Good prices for food, beer is on the expensive side for the Tinnies but for cheap tasty chicken wings and fries look no further I will definitely be back!

Also don’t be put off by the less than impressive exterior!

After more than 2 years living in Sydney and starving of wings - I am so glad that this joint has opened up! Wings and Tins hits the spot and it is definitely a place that my old Brissie mates and I could go on many adventures!

There are a good range of saucy and dry wings options. I went with a few friends and we got a few different flavours - alfies hot sauce, chipotle bbq, lemon pepper cheese (or something like that... too lazy to check the menu right now) and cajun rub. All delicious and the servings are decent. I think each basket comes with about 10 wings (could be wrong).

Could be considered a little on the pricey side but I don't mind paying if it tastes as good as they do here.

They also have side options. We got shaker fries and tater tots. Tater tots were overcooked but the shaker fries were mad decent! I can't wait to try their cheesy fries.

Last but not least, a great selection of tinnies to round off the experience. Definitely coming back... was mad decent!

*****
Take note that this is of course all based on my unqualified opinion!

My considerations: 1. Food 2. Value 3. Service 4. Atmosphere

Venture through their hole-in-the-wall entrance in the dodgy back alley, up the stairs and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how cozy the place is inside.

Wings are obviously the focus here and they are damn good. Pretty extensive choices for all tastes. Smoky chipotle BBQ, house buffalo and Cajun spice rub (although abit salty) are standouts. Alot of sides available too, only tried the truffle parmesan fries and the shoestring was cooked perfectly. Pretty big range of tins on offer, staff were helpful in helping pick and service was just very friendly in general.

Although a little on the expensive side for wings, this place is definitely one of the best openings of 2017. Definitely will see me back here often.

This place does its wings very well, it’s tins very well, all in a lively, vineyard atmosphere. Highly recommended and a great addition to the Sydney small bar scene.
