Review Thai Rock - Sydney

Food presentation are suck. Veggies for presentation weren't fresh at all. Food was missing main ingredient, reported, no offered add on, waiter dropped half of the food in the plate on the table but no offered of changing dish. This is really poor customer service and unacceptable I won't go back there again.

Absolutely delicious Thai food with excellent service and a smile to match. Deep fried Barra with papaya salad is always a favourite, as well as their traditional curries. The only thing slightly disappointing we’re the Roti’s, which were almost too crunchy, and shattered before even getting them to the sauces. Will be back no doubt

The food was amazing. Pineapple fried rice with crab meat is divine! 😋 And oh! the pork sausage too. Yum! 😋 Friendly staff. Warm welcome. I'm not sure with the sticky rice. It's fine but may be not the best.

Hello, I have celebrated my birthday on last Thursday at Thai rock - Potts point. This lovely restaurant. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Location was perfect to chill-out. The owner(Stephanie) was wonderful person, Sam was great host having great taste of cocktails and party shots. Lastly, I would like to thanks bar tender (slim thi ) he made the best party shots. OH MY GOSH!!!! The food at this place is amazing! My parents and I have been looking for a genuinely good Thai restaurant for years, and I know we have DEFINITELY found it! The green curry chicken and the fried barramundi are, without question, the best we have ever had (the Mojito cocktails are amazing too)! Stephanie and her family are delightful and great hosts. This is our new family Thai restaurant, for years to come! Could not possibly recommend it more highly.

This place might have been good once but something has gone terribly wrong. Virtually non-existent service and completely uninspired and lacklustre food. Sadly this has been my experience in two visits in last three months.

Food is great and delicious. The place is nice and convenient. They have happy hour. Customer service is good. Will surely recommend and go back with friends and family.

I dined at the Thai Rock some months back, at the time I wasn't inspired to write a review, but given the events of the last few days I decided I owed to the community to do so.

The Thai Rock COVID-19 cluster has today reached 85 cases, the largest in Australia outside VIC. This cluster has spread the virus from the Western Suburbs to Potts Point most densely populated area in Australia. Numerous local business have been forced to temporarily close as direct result of this cluster. There will undoubtedly be a lasting impact by association on the innocent businesses in the area. Perhaps worst of all, It is now reaching a statistical probability that people related to this cluster will die. Think that over while you crunch on a bland spring roll or a "highly authentic" Seared Scallop with Seaweed.

The Thai Rock restaurant group has at best lacked diligence and at worst been grossly negligent. I'd suggest patrons spend their hard earned money at restaurants that care about the communities they operate in.

So, onto the food, supposedly Issan focused Thai, what it actually is, is an insipid mix from the suburban Thai Food playbook all dished up at inflated priced. Served (oddly) alongside everyone's 80's favorite, volcanic rock steaks. Totally unremarkable, hardly food worth dying for. Look elsewhere.

Fantastic westernised Thai food with more authentic twists than most. Absolutely terrific atmosphere suited to family meals and intimate dinners with the service of a genuine family owned/operated business that compliments a tge fine dining atmosphere. Food & Drink follow suit with extensive import and local beer and wine as well as a reliable cocktail menu w/ a Thai Themed section.

Looking forward to my return!

Amazing food but the waitress was so rude, rolled her eyes, ignored us when we called her over so we had to walk over and approach her looked like she didnt want to be there

An absolutely sensational dining experience. Beautiful flavours, perfectly executed dishes and stunning presentation. Thai Rock is a beautifully fitted out venue where there has been a great deal of effort put in to attention to detail from the interior and furnishing all the way to the crockery. The staff are friendly, attentive and provide exceptional service. They have an extensive gin/drink selection and I can say with confidence the ingredients and botanicals used in the drinks will ensure you're getting the best gin you'll have ever had. The food is masterfully prepared, and the dishes we had were full of flavour and very well balanced. One of the stand out dishes for me was the Lao papaya salad. Thai Rock is definitely a venue that'll you visit more than once.

Pineapple Fried Rice : 😍 Amazing
Seafood Steam Curry : 😍 Amazing
Roast Duck Curry : 😍 Amazing
Thai Papaya Salad : 😍 Amazing
Vegan Fried Ice Cream : 😍 Amazing

An exceptional experience from beginning to end. We were greeted by beautiful smiling waitstaff and the wait for food was not long despite the fact that the restaurant was packed out. Beautifully cooked food with traditional Thai flavours that also cater for vegan eaters. I highly recommend the Roast Duck Curry because it was without words, amazing. This restaurant also has a 100 Gin Wall with so many different options to choose from. If you’re not sure which gin to choose, you can ask the bartender to surprise you and you will not be disappointed. Outstanding everything and highly recommended.

We were so excited to go and have a beautiful Thai dinner and unfortunately the food and service was a huge let down. Very basic food and alarm bells will be ringing about the talent in the kitchen when you see chips, wedges and garlic bread on the menu. Disappointing to say the least after reading about the amazing introduction to Ancient Egyptian and Viking influences of fine cuisine that we were expecting to taste ..... it was not scintillating as expected.

I love this place!
The food first, is my favourite in the area. I love the fact that they have laotian sausages on their menu - I die for them!
The place is immaculate and there’s a great vibe to it.
The staff is also amazing. It’s a family business. David - the owner - is always coming to your table to greet you and tell you a little story.
I’ve also tried them take-away and the quality of the food is great too!

Enjoyed a fantastic evening at Thai Rock for a Isan Thai Banquet, The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. David and Stephanie and the team did a wonderful job of welcoming us and making us feel at ease and well looked after. David's recommendations from the bar paired perfectly with the food and enhanced the experience. Will definitely visit again.

When east meets west, you are presented with Thai Rock - Potts Point . Nestled in the leafy inner city suburb of Potts Point, Thai Rock is serving up predominately Thai food with their unique twists on some of your favourite dishes!
At Thai Rock, you are not confined to just the one cuisine as you will also notice some western dishes appearing on the menu. The one that will catch your eye is the option to cook your own meat on a volcanic rock that heads up to a whopping 400 degrees celsius! A real crowd pleaser!
This venue also has the thirsty humans of this city covered! An impressive bar stocked full of just about every spirit and liquor you can name. Oh did I mention Thai Rock also stock 132 different types of gin?

Amazing vegan menu with so many options! Love it. Tried the laksa which was decent, although was missing a slight kick. The curry however had the kick and was really nice. Also tried a couple of thai cocktails but they weren't particularly exciting. Keen to go back and try more of the food menu.

Feeling bad and boujee? Hit the town tonight at Thai Rock in Potts Point, the most luxurious Thai dining experience ever to exist.

With a family running the business, you know that the food and drinks will be made with love, full of flavour and integrity to the Thai culture. The bar is stocked with over 132 varieties of gin amongst other poisons and each cocktail is dressed to order with the crowning jewels - dried fruit, chilli etc. There is also a guitarist strumming to old classics to set the mood!

Menu is quite extensive but I can guarantee that each and every dish, that I’ve tried at least, is a 10/10. My recommendations are the satay chicken skewers, seared scallops, salt and pepper tofu, Thai beef salad, pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and eye of fillet on a volcanic rock.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

My thanks to FCBA and Thai Rock Potts Point for the invite!

Not your typical Thai restaurant. If I could have this as my local, I’d be chuffed! The moment you step into this restaurant, the ambience and decor is wonderful. Lots of rich woods and Thai decorations adorn this venue and the bar is quite spectacular. It is not just a side things but definitely a centrepiece as their mantra of this restaurant is that the drink is just as important as the meal. They specialise in lots of gin based cocktails and they all looked wow. Service is wonderful and it is definitely a family affair here.

As we were a largish group we got to share lots of dishes. The quality and presentation of the meals were top notch. It is definitely plated much better than most Thai restaurants but price wise it is very good value for money. We especially enjoyed the Satay Chicken Skewers. Succulent pieces of chicken threaded onto sticks with a sticky satay sauce was moreish. For the vegetarians out there, the Salt & Pepper Tofu would make an excellent starter. Crispy battered pieces of silken tofu were a delight to eat. For the inner chefs in you, the Volcanic Rock may be to your liking. A hot stone plate is brought to the table and in our case, Eye Fillet Of Beef was accompanied by chips and a mushroom sauce. Slice the pieces the cook it to your preference. Quality ingredients made this a highlight. Pineapple Fried Rice was a crowd favourite too. Not only was it tasty, it was neat that it was presented in a half pineapple. I also enjoyed the Pad Thai With Beef a lot too with just the right balance of flavours.

Thai Rock at Potts Point newly opened with traditional Thai dishes and with a spin on some western dishes! The food here was phenomenal with indoor and outdoor seating, its a place to bring your friends and family for an unforgettable feast! There is live music on weekends and the bar serves 132 types of gin.

The duck curry was a standout for me, plenty of flavour with a kick of spice! The pineapple fried rice tasted amazing too. The scallops is also a must have entree. Theres always room for dessert so if you order the Mango gelato with coconut sticky rice you wont be disappointed!

Thanks Thai Rock for the invite! A+ service and A+ food!

This is a THAI-RIFFIC feast I can’t stop thinking about!

This newly opened Thai restaurant 🇹🇭 in Potts Point features an ‘east meets west’ menu with traditional Thai dishes 🍽together with some western influenced dishes which uniquely offers something for everyone.

Owner, David and his family run this second restaurant branch of Thai Rock (their original restaurant is in Wetherill Park), you can see the special touches and love that they have put into the restaurant. Everything from the curation of the menu dishes, the finishings and layout of the restaurant (including an outdoor terrace area and private dining areas), to lime and betel leaf plants on the terrace and the wine and liquor selection to pair with the dishes.

The ‘rock’ part of Thai Rock refers to the specialty volcanic rock (from the Vikings!) that’s heated to 480 degrees where you can cook your meat or seafood 🦞 to your liking! This is perfect if you’re sharing dishes as each person can enjoy their steak the way they like. The difference between this volcanic rock and Korean BBQ is that you don’t end up smelling like meat afterwards!

We tried the following dishes (asterisk indicates my top picks):

Seared scallops on a bed on fresh seaweed and Thai Rock special sauce* - the scallops were super plump and succulent, cooked perfectly.

Potato skins with grilled cheese and chicken - the perfect entree or snack with a cold beer (this was one of my hubby’s fave dishes).

Aged rib eye steak cooked on volcanic rock* - as explained above, the steak is cooked to your liking. It comes served with a choice of sauces and crispy (addictive) fat chips. I actually really enjoyed eating the steak just with a touch of sea-salt that was sprinkled on so you can taste the natural meat flavours.

Pineapple fried rice* - firstly, it’s served in a pineapple! I was impressed with the flavours and loved the cashew nuts and raisins added to the rice. Choose your choice of protein for your fried rice.

Pad Thai noodles - a crowd pleaser at any Thai restaurant! Presented elegantly with a thin layer of egg omelette on the top, when you peel it back it reveals a mountain of tasty noodles. Again, choose your own protein addition.

Yellow curry with chicken* - first time ordering a yellow curry and not my last! Enjoyed the mild, creamy and lightly spiced flavours, this curry is not very spicy and is full of flavour.

King prawn salad - fresh and zesty salad.

Mango gelato & sticky rice* - this gelato is served in an elegant mango shell coating made of white chocolate and on a bed of white sticky rice. The gelato is refreshing, the sticky rice went well with the dish but I thought it was slightly a bit too heavy and you don’t need too much rice.

Fried ice cream in crispy filo pastry - unlike most deep fried ice creams which have a thick crust, this is a joy to eat as you break through the crispy filo shell to reveal the creamy ice cream inside. What a great twist on the traditional version.

I recommend you order dishes to share as there are so many tempting menu dishes, I wanted to try almost everything.

My verdict? I was very impressed with the delicious food and the extensive drinks list, they have over 130 different types of gin alone! If you’re a gin lover like me, you will be get excited to see the jars of various botanicals that can be added to your favourite gin liquor. Ask the bartender to make you your favourite cocktail or let him whip up a cocktail creation for you.

I would highly recommend 👍 a visit here and I can’t wait to bring my family and friends here for a Thai feast 🍽 and some cocktails 🍸.

Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

Came here for dinner over the weekend, and had a completely unique and memorable Thai dining experience. Located a few minutes from Kings Cross station, this restaurant is both designed and decorated beautifully, it’s perfect for groups of all sizes – from spacious outdoor seating to cosy booths for a little more privacy.

The bar really had us impressed, it’s decked out with an extensive range of colourful gins plus we found out they de-hydrate their own fruit (which smelled amazing might I add) to pair with the alcoholic drinks!

The food itself left us feeling very satisfied afterwards, for entrees we opted for the prawn cakes (they make it from scratch and the batter is fried to a crisp perfection) and seared scallops. The scallops were our favourite savoury dish of the night and would highly recommend you try this if you come here – very tender and plump, and the sauce gave it right amount of seasoning. We were so sorely tempted to get another one!

For mains we ordered:

Pineapple fried rice with prawns – I love how it came out in a carved-out pineapple and overall had great flavour, personally could have done with more pineapple pieces however they were very generous with the prawns which were quite large also.

Seafood laksa – Laksa had good flavour and the soup base wasn’t overly creamy either which I preferred (they also make the laksa paste in-house), and had a great seafood mix of squid, mussels and prawns.

Roast Duck Salad – This salad complemented the rest of the mains really well, quite refreshing whilst packing a punch of flavour. If summer were a flavour this would be it, the duck was so tender and juicy as it soaked up the flavours of the dressing, plus the coriander and mint added to the freshness of the salad.

Finishing the night on a high with dessert, we shared the black sticky rice pudding (they did this classic Thai dessert justice) and deep-fried ice cream. The deep-fried ice cream was a complete hit – wrapped and fried in triangle shapes meant that there was a perfect pastry to ice cream ratio in each mouthful! Would go back just for this!

The service and wait staff are very efficient and friendly. Special shoutout to David who made the night so memorable with his passion for the food, the restaurant and his vision of creating a positive experience for each diner was so special. We definitely had a great time over delicious food, and look forward to our future visits.

Thai Rock Potts Point is an awesome venue located not far from Kings Cross Train Station.
With East meets West cuisines, their extensive menu delivers unique dining experience and caters for many delicious dishes you crave!
The restaurant itself has elegant decor with Thai inspired touch, which is exotic and traditional at the same time.
Seating area is large and the venue can accommodate up to 200 guests.
Their full bar really caught my attention with those colourful and very large range of gins (125 types to be exact!).
Let’s talk about the dishes now.
Their Volcanic Rock was definitely the star!
Not only I loved the theater, it was nice to enjoy a hot slice of this age rib eye of beef fillet every single time! The rock cooks the meat to the perfect temperature.
The other dishes I tried were also fantastic. Loved their seared scallops, Thai Rock special fried rice (spicy) and choo chee prawns. Really flavoursome.
Before enjoying the dessert I tried their dessert wine from Keith Tulloc. So good!
As for the desserts, I really loved their fried ice cream and mango gelato & sticky rice. Both were so delicious and indulgent.
Highly recommend.

Awesome food. Good price & friendly service from the family.

David & Stephanie (the team behind Thai Rock in Wetherill Park) have recently opened up Thai Rock Potts Point. The same quality Northern Thai food is available, however, they have introduced an 'East meets West' theme. They have put a lot of thought into making it fit into Potts Point. Tables to suit couples & groups and bamboo garden out the back.
A full bar with unique beers and spirits. With over 40 flavours of gin to choose from, take a risk and let the bartender make you something that not only suits your taste but compliemnts Thai food. My favourite was the 'ink' gin, that changes colours when you mix it.

Dishes are designed to share and my favourites were
- Entrees: seared scallops (MUST TRY DISH), satay chicken skewers & moneybags
- Mains: duck curry (good portion of duck & sweet with lychee), whole filleted fried fish (super crispy and served with a fresh and sweet apple salad), pineapple fried rice (beautifully presented in a pineapple!), Thai Beef Salad (they nailed the classic)
-Desserts: Mango gelato sticky rice (this one is shaped like a mango & covered in white chocolate). Coconut pannacotta with passionfruit (wobbly and coconut flavour is strong).

The service is what really makes it a 5 star rating. David and team gave good suggestions on what to eat and drink and made it an enjoyable experience.
