Review Sydney Porkrolls - Sydney

Wow their prices have really risen in the last couple of years. At $7 for a standard pork roll or $9 for roast crackling pork they’re now as expensive as Marrickville pork roll but definitely not as high quality. Still an OK option but far from the standout bargain it once was. Bread is a bit too light and full of air to be truly satisfying.

As a vietnamese myself believe me when I tell you this a poor pork roll place. Bought a BBQ pork roll with can of drink. First thing I noticed when I was given the roll was that it was actually pretty small in portion, both the bun and fillings. I asked for an extra slice of cucumber while it was being made and was denied and told I would have to pay extra, so already there was a first sign of stinginess. THEY INTENTIONALLY BAKE THE ROLLS SMALLER. Not only small but less DENSE. I've held these baguettes all my life and have never felt one so LIGHT and small. Everything was less, from the amount of carrot, lettuce to bun. And the taste was very below average. Below average because so many other places have lifted the standards high. This place is not representive of what most banh mi places offer and even without the comparison it was still a poor quality sandwich in it's own right. Not made with love from the beginning to the end. And it shows. First and last time I will be buying from here. Shameful. Skimpy and stingy in every way possible.

A very very good pork roll! Still among the cheapest in Sydney they don’t skimp on quality though. Try their crispy pork banh mi.

Very nice crackling pork rolls. You will love it since it has the most amazing crunch. This is a one in a lifetime opportunity to eat very nice crackling pork.

Very nice and friendly staff. One of the best rolls in town. Hot bread and fresh pork. Must try roast pork.

Worst pork roll in Sydney. They use 10kg of butter and it’s flat. No meat or ingredients. Very low quality. Go to Mericville Vietnamese a few metres away it’s full of meat.

Very impressed with the roast pork that was delicious. Very nice staff. Next time I will try the meat balls.

Another food app which says they are putting the control back in the business’ hands without charging exhorbitant commissions on generating new business. Still, Ritual plays on our need for convenience and we still have to physically use our precious lunch hour which immediately shaves time of our lunch hour the second we leave our desks. Pre-Order, linking orders with work mates – it’s like car pooling except for lunch – and you can take turns with the pick ups and earn reward points the more you do.

This was ok. The roll wasn't crunchy and was a bit chewy. There was a lot of good ingredients packed into the roll though and they were very liberal with the chilli. $5.70 is a moderate price but you can get a much better roll at the new Marrickville Pork Roll place in Darling Square for just 30c more.

Crispy bread. Tasty egg. Bacon was overly fatty. Overall quite good breakfast roll at competitive $5 price. I ripped out all the fatty part like Xihuahua 🐶 does.

This place has seriously gone down hill. I use to alway get a pork roll for breakfast in 2016-2017 and they pretty good. Recently the taste has changed and the portions have shrunk.

came here for breakfast and ordered the bbq pork and roasted pork roll. both are good, but i preferred the bbq pork since it was more tasty. ask for chilies if you like spicy. bread has a good crunch.

Love this place.

Bbq pork roll and normal pork roll is quite nice.
The crunchy of the bread, taste itself - Yummy 😍

Bbq pork roll$6.00
Normal pork roll $5.00

Overall ok.

I was going to take the short to Marrickville Pork Roll at Steam Mill Lane but thought I’d give Sydney Pork Roll a go.

Are they as good as Marrickville Pork Roll? Well, no bit they are a fair bit cheaper and if you factor price into it, they are a bit of a bargain! I got the roast pork and it was excellent. The bread roll isn’t quite at the standard of MPR but it was still good. The serving of meat was generous and it had a good balance to it overall.

Wouldn’t hesitate to go back!
The Fatty Chronicles
Your standard banh mi vendor, i ordered the grilled pork roll for $6, it’s no Marrickville Pork Roll but definitely satisfied the craving and offers a cheap lunch.

Their bread rolls were a bit of a let down, a bit dry and didnt have the crusty outside/soft texture feel. I saw they pre-pate’d their rolls so wondering if the premature cutting and pre-prep may have led to this? Not really enough to deter me, was still a tasty lunch and i would return.

Kinda spicy porkroll, but definitely tasty, reminds me of the vietnamese banh mi (or it might be). Price seems reasonable considering how much meat they put into the roll

There is always a line outside this little hole in the wall but is it worth the wait. There are a couple of places to get Vietnamese pork rolls in the city but this is by far the best place. The bread is fresh and the crust is crunchy. Tastes as good as any you would get from Cabramatta!

I love this place, it's my go to for a cheap quick lunch.
I have had better but not for under $10 let alone under $5, you can't argue with the value for money here. Ive tried all the rolls and they're all really good but my go to is the BBQ pork with or without double meat depending on how hungry I am.

My only issue with this place is that on several occasions when asking for no coriander they would smile and nod yet there would still be coriander on my roll, not a huge issue but it gets a little frustrating getting a mouth full of soap.

Edit 2019

This place has gone down hill. They intentionally overcharged me and the roll itself is not like it used to be.

The CBD has few quality Bahn Mi spots, let alone ones for under a tenner. This hit the spot, at under $5. No is is certainly not the greatest but it is pretty damn good. The standard pork is the pick.

This place is super cute and super cheap! I love the chicken roll and the bread is really fresh and soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Everything is made very fast.

If you enjoy super delicious pork rolls, definitely visit Sydney Porkrolls! I ordered the chicken and the bbq pork roll and found both equality as good. So much work goes into making these rolls (I was quite observant whilst waiting for my rolls lol). I can't wait to come back again!
- UPATED- we've eaten here 4 times this week

BANH MI baby! Hit me with your best BANH MI! Sydney Pork Roll is a hole in the wall on George St, Sydney.Sydney Pork Roll gets a lot of human traffic being situated on the main strip of George St and also having a bus stop right outside. It's been around for years and is known for having a for value Vietnamese pork roll (Banh Mi). The Pork Rolls these days are $4.50.

Best pork rolls in Sydney! Always order the BBQ pork roll. The paté they use is next level and the pork is full of flavour. Always a line but always worth the wait!

The very large sign out the front says it all - Pork Rolls $3.95. Its a simple shop with a simple offering - pork rolls for $3.95. It was a tasty roll at a very decent price. The queue also showed others like it too.
Bitemeshowme
For $3.50 the prices are even cheaper than the ones at Cabramatta! The bread roll is huge, at least 1.5 x larger than the normal bread rolls you would get. It got me so excited!

For a quick and cheap eat this place seems to hit the mark. Perhaps not the best in Sydney but seems to use all the right ingredients to satisfy a banh mi craving.

Have you been to any of the these pork roll places? Which one is your favourite? Are there others to add to this list? Now it’s your turn, go out and eat!

I love the pork ball rolls here! By far the best in the city!

Wow!. I had never eaten a pork roll before, until I walked past this place and decided to join the queue. Why did it take me so long to try a pork roll?! This was the best! It was so fresh and tasty. I went back again the week after and it was a party in my mouth :) Highly recommended.

Best pork roll in the CBD and I'm saying that as a Vietnamese.
