Review Ovo Boteco - Sydney

This restaurant is amazing. I had Brazilian food twice in my whole life. The staff was very great. The toilet is super clean ever. Of course, the food was fantastic ever. We finished every single dish. My friends and I had a great time there and love their food so much. If you are so new with Brazilian food please ask them to recommend you so you won't be disappointed. The dessert is also great. It made me so full. Some of good red wines and cocktails I really like it. I highly recommend to try it. Also good atmosphere. Make a booking first would be great ideas.

Attended Ovo Boteco's Friday Rodizio night ⁣"all you can eat". Wait staff cruise by diners offering trays of delicious Brazilian tapas - until you say stop!!⁣ ⁣ There are 17 dishes to try; many feature vibrant grilled vegetables and salads alongside big flavoured rice dishes and skewers. ⁣ This is a fresh take on Brazilian food. Drinks and atmosphere are as colourful as the delicious cuisine - well worth checking out. I am keen to go back and experience the regular menu - the Sunday breakfast buffet also looks good. Kindly invited.

Located downstairs in a large space off Bayswater road in Potts Point, you’ll find Ovo Boteco, which is a new take on Brazilian food in Sydney. Completely unlike other restaurants of Brazilian influence here. This is typical of street food you’d find in Brazil. The restaurant has a fun vibe, and staff are keeping to theme, sporting colourful beaded necklaces over a white shirts and they’ve got fun personalities to boot. There’s roving service and all dishes are served to you by the wait staff regularly, where you make your our selection as they move about. The fact that the restaurant was filled with Brazilian diners must be testament to the authenticity of the food. Given the style of service , a lot of the food is finger food and since it’s very vegan and vegetarian friendly. They do offer an ala carte menu but we were here for the Friday night Rodizo. They offer the basic for $20, and premium for $29 which we think is great value. The price here is so reasonable and you can really eat as much as you want (or can fit in). We recommend wearing your stretchy pants. Completely opposite to what we expected. We thought the menu would be packed with meat, but rather, plenty of chicken and cheese croquettes, polenta balls, rice, salad and some amazing mortadella sandwiches. On the Premium Menu, you also get: Picanha gratinado, chorizo and onion, grilled corn, chicken eschondidinho (chicken shepherd pie) isca de frango (fried chicken) baiao de dois (rice and beans), vegan mouqueca (casserole/stew) pudim (dessert). The cheese balls are out of this world and what could be better than also dipping them in cheese sauce. The place has a good atmosphere to it, with live music several nights a week and loud chatter happening from plenty of groups out for a good night. We like the decor, with exposed brass pipes, mosaic floor tiles, an eclectic mix of trinkets and dim lighting, it is really fitting with the Brazilian experience. The space is huge with three separate dining rooms and we think it would be a good place for an event too. We recommend getting the train or Uber and taking advantage of the amazing cocktails on offer, making for a exciting and fun filled night. We had a refreshing Caipirinha (Brazil’s national cocktail) but there’s so many to choose from! For the non drinkers or designated driver, there’s plenty of juices too.

I went to Ovo Boteco with couple of friends. Very spacious and cosy place with friendly staff. Nice variety of Brazilian dishes full of flavour with fair price. Depending the day of the week there are specials with good discounts! The regional dishes are excellent and shows that the Brazilian cousine is more than just bbq.

Wow! The food is 100% DELICIOUS here and so authentic. What an upgrade from their other little beloved Ovo Cafe which is equally amazing. The food and space a little better. The service is so intimate and the layout of the place is gorgeous. This takes me and my Brazilian partner back to Brazil each time, except it taste and experience even better!

Very cosy atmosphere and delicious Brazilian food. The music selection is amazing and there is also live music in some days of the week. I totally recommend it!

I love coming here, and visiting their sister venue ovo cafe. This boteco differs to their cafe in being a bar/ restaurant. There's excellent Brazilian foods and regional dishes, and top notch caipirinhas (l think the best I've had in Sydney) and other drinks. Service is warm and friendly, with staff very helpful in explaining the menu, and with ordering. I've been here twice, once in a big group and another time with my partner, and the place has been fun for both occasions. I must come back and try their feijoada buffet, their breakfast menu, and their live music evenings. There's a lot to like!

Beautiful Brazilian food cooked to perfection in a happy, colourful and vibrant setting. Very friendly and kind wait staff. Will be back to try breakfast.

Espetinhos : 😁 Great
Camaro na morgana : 😍 Amazing
Moqueca Vegana : 😁 Great
Mojito : 😁 Great
Nha Chica : 😍 Amazing

Brazilian cuisine at its finest. Chicken on the skewers were cooked to perfection. Camaro Na Morgana (Prawn & Pumpkin) was to die for. We scraped every last bit! The Monqueca Vegana was definitely something different and I was glad I tried it. Banana in a stew is not something I’d typically eat or cook but it was worth the try but it was, however extremely salty. Even the rice couldn’t save my lips from getting shrivelled. Cocktails were very pretty and tasted amazing. Highly recommend the Nha Chica if you like fruity flavours. Service was great too. 100% will return for more.

Staff are attentive although at times we felt forgotten. To us the food was all new and as it was our first time having Brazilian food we didn’t have high expectations. Everything was delicious but unfortunately the Camaro Na Moranga and Banana Vegan stew was very very salty. The chicken skewers were cooked to perfection but the beef was really tough. Currently the menu is different to the one posted, but we weren’t disappointed.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend of mine, so she took me there, and I'm so glad she did. The whole venue is welcoming and has some old school and earthy traits to it, with colourful tiles layed on the floor, beautiful rustic furniture and images of the 'Baianas da Bahia' which brings out part of Brazil into this spot in Sydney.
Regarding the food, we asked for 'Gratinado de picanha com catupiry', 'Escondidinho de carne seca com mandioca' and a side of 'Feijoada'- Brazilian black beans, no rice needed. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS without a doubt, combining beautiful rich flavours which was more than enough for 2 people. It's the place to go to eat comforting soul food.
I must stay that the staff was very very very friendly, giving their opinions on which dish they recommended and even offering to take pictures of me and my friend to capture this moment.
Probably, it's because I am of portuguese descent, but I did feel at home

While craving some brazilian food one afternoon I came upon Ovo Boteco in Sydney. This is a pub style restaurant that only opens at 18:00 during the weekdays and at 12 pm on the weekends. Depending on the time you want to go you may want to make a reservation because it does get very busy there a little later on the night. I decided to try their Galinhada & the special that the waitress had recommended was carne cozida and polenta. My uncle makes one of my favorite galinhadas at home, so I have a good idea on what it should taste like. This one tasted very similar to his which shocked me but I'm so glad I decided to try it out. Now the best dish of the night we would've never known about unless our lovely waitress had recommended it. This carne cozida and polenta was the highlight of the night. The polenta in the bottom and the slow cooked beef were a perfect combination. If you do visit Ovo Boteco it's the one dish I highly recommend to get. They said they will be putting it on the menu soon but if you don't see it than ask your waitress about the special. You always need room for dessert, so we decided to have the flan. The Flan (pudim de leite condensado) had caramel popcorn and vanilla ice cream on the side, which was something different but balanced the dish well. They have a wide variety of food options, from tapas like coxinhas to main dishes like moqueca. This is a place you can take a date with but if you want to experience all it has to offer, I recommend going with a few friends to get all different dishes and try a little bit of everything.
