Got a box of 4. The donuts are soft and hit you with a lot of sugar, but if you like that then it's fantastic. The fritters are intense (we got apple crumble and blueberry), loved the glaze and filling. I also enjoyed the cookies and cream one, if had the perfect balance of crumbs, icing and fluffy dough.
I would go back just for the fritter. The fritter was so soft and fluffy. I forgot what flavour it was (may have been a white choc blueberry) but it was hella good !
The doughnut with the pink icing and sprinkles was a take on the Simpson doughnut. I found it overly sweet but that may have just been me because I had the apple fritter before it (I’m the type of person who can’t handle too many sweet things at once).
The service was great. If i ever go back to Sydney, I will definitely visit Grumpy Donuts again.
I am not a donut lover but then there aretimes you have this sugar rush and you want to escape but its best done if in right quantity!
We ordered 2 peanut butterbing and snorkers both of them were like the best thing we had in this last one week.
Supergood !

Grumpy's donuts are some of the best, if not the best, donuts in Sydney - take it from someone who has ashamedly eaten a lot of donuts!!
Buttered toast and apple fritter are my two favourites.

I'm not usually one to have vegan or gluten free food, but these donuts were amazing! I had the chocolate & mint donut, as well as the peanut butter & chocolate donut, both of which were amazing! They weren't too sweet but weren't overly savoury either. The only thing I could note to improve on was the packaging of the donuts, I wish they could be in a box of some sorts, but they were just placed one on top of the other with some paper in the middle and put in a bag. Other than that, it was perfect!
I donut really care about my donuts… jokes!!!!! I love my freaking donuts!!! If it’s 2 things that I care about is my chicken and waffles and my donuts! Hands down I think grumpy donuts has the best fatty maple bacon donuts! I mean yeah shortstop is great as well but grumpy donuts is a typical American donut joint! I have to say the flavour and presentation is on point. It ain’t dirty and pleasing to the eyes. I had the maple bacon donut and man it’s huge!!! The crispy bacon on the top is glazed with maple syrup.. omg.. amazing.. it’s like a maple bacon jerky. So chewy and crunchy at the same time. The donut perfectly fried and fluffy. The maple glaze is like maple syrup in an icing format. Not too sweet. Just perfect.
The fritters are my favourite!
- Blueberry White Chocolate Fritter (4/5): The fritters basically taste like donut holes stuck together to form a Fritter - what more could you want! The Blueberry White Choc is lovely because of the lashings of white choc sauce on top of a glazed fritter littered with blueberry bits.
- Apple Crumble Fritter (4/5): The caramel sauce on this is so buttery and delicious! It could use a few more bits of apple because it tastes much more like a caramel fritter than it does apple but hey, I'm not complaining.
- Fairy Bread Donut (3.75/5): The fairy bread icing is sooo creamy and lovely and it really makes the donut! The donut itself is nice and fluffy but not as delicious as the texture of the fritters
- Toasted Coconut Donut (3.5/5): The coconut flavour is there on the topping but not that noticeable in the donut itself. The shredded coconut gives it nice texture but as a coconut lover, I wanted more coconut flavour!
Always enjoyed your donuts. Love how the flavours are on rotation as it keeps it interesting. Personal favourite is the buttered toast brown butter frosting with brioche crumbs. Yum!!!
Grumpy Donuts in Camperdown, Sydney, is a place I recommend if you want an old school doughnut. You know the ones, they have a light and fluffy centre. As opposed to the cake like doughnuts served at so many places these days. “One of everything thanks” was our order. I forget this isn’t a normal thing to do so the reaction you get is always interesting. It’s usually a mix of surprise and asking are you serious?!
That donut on the logo sure looks grumpy. Odd location because there were not many other food outlets nearby. It had a spacious interior because there were only seats around the sides. Coffee and donuts seemed to be their only menu items. Staff were friendly and helped me make my decision. I wanted to share it with the fam so I got 6 donuts take away. It came in an awesome box, it was extremely colourful and had their logo in the centre.
There were 5 different flavours but the flavours weren't pronounced enough describe each one. Generally the donuts were superb, each one was soft, fluffy and light. The toppings were underwhelming and lacked distinguishing factors.
Them grumpy donuts are ones that are not to be missed!
With big portion sizes and ever changing flavours daily, you can never be bored nor disappointed!
I would highly recommend the burnt butter or smores (for those chocolate addicts at there) but then again, I LOVED every single bite of every flavour!
Can't wait to get myself back to Camperdown to get me some more! Next time, I might even go the dozen 😜
Plenty of parking this area of Camperdown, right near the bright pink Grumpy van, this store is tiny, enough to grab donuts and go. Few tables outside and a brekkie bar style inside. Flavours change daily and the donuts are fresh as! Loved the donut holes and that awesome coffee machine
A small corner store, only made conspicuous by the bright pink donut van parked across the street, the Grumpy Donut has a changing daily selection of delectable donuts. How do you choose between sweeties with names like Snorkers (chocolate ganache topped with crushed peanuts and caramel crispy pearls), Peanut Butterbing (dark chocolate ganache with crushed butterbings and a peanut butter drizzle), Raspberry Lime Grumpy (Raspberry icing topped with handmade lime flavoured stripes). Maybe just revert to the traditional Vanilla Glaze. The raspberry jam donut is given a slight makeover with a sour sugar coating. Or just try them all.
Very creative and tasty donuts here. I had this peanut butter and chocolate number and when I was done could have easily gone back for another. It's a small little hole in the wall place on bridge road, but not hard to miss with a massive neon donut sign in the window. It's a crafty place with good friendly neighbourly service.
This is by far my all time favourite donut shop in Sydney so far.I absolutely love these donuts, theyre exactly what I imagine when I think of donuts. They're pillowy soft and chewy, not fried too much and covered in all sorts of fun glazes and sugars. Their texture, the perfect dough of the donut is what keeps me coming back. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful too!
Every day they have different flavours and keep coming up with better ones, I'm a sucker for seasonal specials like their rainbow mardi gras one! Every day I check their instagram stories to see what their flavours are. My personal favourite is the buttered toast donut and the classic cinnamon sugar donut. I guess the downside is that you might need to check daily to see if they have your favourite today. I'm always up for trying to new flavours so I don't mind. Byebye summer bod.
You may want to arrive before noon, some flavours sell out quickly and they're best when they're fresh!
The donuts are awesome but the last time I visited, it was an hour after their opening time and they only had 3 donuts ready for purchase with the others being a minimum 45mins away. Kinda annoying.

The last time I mistakenly thought it was Doughnut Time, I was proved so thoroughly wrong, I started to doubt I even liked doughnuts anymore! As you age your tastes do change, and eating those doughnuts made me wonder if I'd finally hit the point when sugar coated rings of saturated fat no longer appealed. So despite them opening their first bricks and mortar store right in my Inner West ‘hood, I put off visiting Grumpy Donuts for months. Eventually curiosity got to me, and I entered this online and café-based business’s first bricks and mortar store. With white paint and tiles, the clean lines of the store direct your attention where it should be – onto a marble display board showing off the day’s doughnut selections. Doughnuts are divided into Rings ($4 - $5.50); Filled ($5.50); Bars ($6) and Fritters ($6); with no discounts for purchases in multiples of six. You do however receive your half-dozen doughnuts in a groovy pink box that conjures up memories of The Simpsons, and the pink-doughnut-loving Homer. To begin with, these doughnuts are...
