Review Ito’s Malaysian - Sydney

Great Malaysian food at a great price. The Chicken Laksa was rich, creamy and fresh. Service was very quick. Food court was nice and bright with natural light and air coming through the open window.

Underwhelming. The broth is creamy but bland and the chilli paste while nice in flavour didn't mix into the laksa very well so it's hard to use as an addition. The prawns and tofu puffs were good but the grilled battered white fish was soggy and flavourless. It would benefit from the addition of some greens to add texture and appeal.

The food here is edible and tasty no doubt, but the process of getting an order in and queuing up really tires one out. Avoid lunch time totally, unless you want to line up with 10 people chaotically. There’s not enough staff taking orders, and everything seems random. The hot food bar is normally unattended, and it seems impossible to just buy a few snacks easily and quickly. Update: ordered eat in noodles and needed a small plastic cup to share the noodles with a child.. the staff waitress was quite rude and charged me $0.50 for one small cup.

I'm a regular customer and I love their beautiful laksa! It's rich and creamy! Definitely recommend! I go at least 3 times a week. I love the food here. I've been to many laksa places and I love this one the most!

Really good food at great prices, the laksa is really cream compared to others I've had that were really watered down. Staff is always very polite and friendly which makes the ordering process really enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this place.

Loved the laksa here - it was super rich and creamy. I dont like spicy foods but this was really delicious. Really great place for lunch at budget prices in this area. Would recommend!

Disappointed I have high expectations going here It is NOT bad but yeah if you can go couple blocks further you’ll find a REAL good laksa 👍🏻

Laksa was okay at least better than malay chinese takeaway imo.

This is not like I was expecting after reading the review.
First, laksa it’s not authentic Malaysian laksa, I’m expecting that broth are is full of spices and deep flavour.
Instead, You will have a little blend broth, and filling was only decent amount of Chunk of chicken, a little bean sprout and also 2 pieces of tofu.
Well, I’m not sure if they were having problem in the kitchen, maybe different chef was making my meal?
Not sure
Probably more 3.5 if I could award that. Located in the Foodbase food court, it sits amongst some other food outlets in this not so busy food court. Even at peak lunch times there seems to be seating available.

Ordered off an app to pick up for takeaway and it was available at the specified time. I had the Satay Chicken With Fried Rice. They had packed the chicken in with the rice and asked if I wanted satay sauce on top which I did. As there was space to sit down I had most of lunch there. As I could see the satay sticks and rice in the bain marie, it wasn’t as hot as what I would like it to be. The flavours were nice and not spicy. Rice used a short grain instead of usual medium or long grain you’d find in a normal fried rice.

The laksa at Ito's is a far cry from what you will try at Malaysia. It is milder and does not add enough fried dried shrimps. The fried beancurd was not fresh either. You may wish to visit Malay Chinese Takeaway for an authentic bowl of laksa.

I call this the unknown foodcourt because even when it's busy, it’s not really that busy. But it is definitely much better this way as you can always find a seat and eat in peace.

Ito's offers relatively cheap food with decent portions. I've tried the laksa and a customized stir fry noodle and both were enjoyable. It's not anything out of this world but it serves me well for lunch and they are reliable. I would not hesitate to go back again!

I used to visit the North Sydney shop regularly when I worked there, glad they have a branch in CBD close to my new office. I am a big fan of their laksa and decided to try Har Mee for a change. Har Mee has quite pungent smell as the broth is made from prawn heads, it is definitely an acquired taste. The broth should have a perfect balance of fishiness from the prawn, heat from chilli paste and sweetness from palm sugar. This har mee I ordered was probably the hottest one I had tried, I didn't even add extra chilli paste. It could use a bit more sugar to balance out the saltiness as well. Overall it was good but didn't blow me away.

Ordered the Hainan chicken ($9.80) and chicken laksa ($9.50). Both great dishes. The Hainan chicken was moist and tender...almost velvety in the mouth. The laksa was quite coconuty. The broth is certainly different from other laksa joints with the specks of herbs adding a subtle flavour. It was also quite spicy without extra chilli. Overall an awesome lunch spot.

Heard about the famous Hainan Chicken Rice of this food outlet and try to explore. Walked from the Town Hall station across the road up the hill from Woolworths. Eventually, turned around the corner where the Starbucks located, I found the food court where this food outlet located. It was quite busy there and I ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice and Laska at once. Well, the chicken was good but not to the extra-ordinary standard and so as the Laska. However, I do like the idea of DIY on choosing the types of noodles, ingredients and sauces from the menu. It is so interactive between chefs and diners subject ot individual tast buds. No wonder they are so busy.

Top tier and great value chicken rice in the CBD, Prawn (Har) Mee is in the same league as Malay Chinese. Exclusively serves the CBD lunch crowd so likely to be inaccessible for those working in the ‘burbs.

Ito’s Malaysian Hainanese chicken rice. Yum! Tucked into the underground food court at 201 Elizabeth St is Ito’s Malaysian. It’s run by the same couple who used to run To’s Malaysian Gourmet. Word is they sold that business and opened Ito’s. The Hainanese chicken was tender and softly ginger flavoured. The rice was delicious and salty. The sambal was perfectly gingery hot and all in all it was a perfect meal. I chose the drumstick rather than breast as I like tender meat. It cost $8.60. I’m already planning my next trip. View Larger Map Tagged: elizabeth street , Hainanese chicken rice , malaysian , sambal , Sydney

The menu isn't particularly extensive with a couple of noodle dishes, satay and a couple of curries in the bain maries, but we still took quite a while deciding what to have since everything seemed so good! I usually prefer dishes cooked to order over those pre-cooked and sitting in the bain marie but I made an exception this time because the beef rendang looked pretty tasty.

Any diehard fan of To’s Malaysian Gourmet in North Sydney may recognise some familiar faces at this place in the city.

Penang Prawn Mee still the best around.. While there are many places around offering this dish, Ito's transports me back to the streets of Penang. The prawn soup is delish, sufficient prawn and pork slices and the sambal paste has a kick and is a must.

Excellent Food. This old team from "To" North Sydney still got it - the best Har mee in town - haven't found any comparable ones in years. Thanks Irene!

Wonderful & Authentic. I have been a loyal customer of To's Malayian in North Sydney for years but was really disappointed when the original To's left last year. Anyway quite by chance today I came across them here when I went into the CBD for a work meeting. They are now Ito's Malaysian at 201 Elizabeth (food hall) and it was really great to have the originals back. The laksa was authentic and delicious as usual and I will be sure to be visiting Ito's Malaysian whenever I can now. Excellent place to eat and highly recommended.

Great laksa!. Love their laksa, especially with chilli on top. Generous servings too!

Awesome Malaysian Food. This is the new food place run by Irene and To who used to own the famous To's Malaysian in North Sydney. Their laksas, prawn mee soups and Hainan Chicken Rice are still amazing.

I highly recommend this place for lunch!
