The mini assortment of sweets are phenomenal, I get them EVERY Christmas Eve for my party and they are a hit! Two days ago, I thought I would try the cakes, they honestly were not as good as the mixed sweets, the Black Forest and tiramisu were not good. However the cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate “mice” (not sure why it’s called that) and the ferrero cake were good!
I personally would stick to the mini Greek sweets on the top shelf, those are the hit of the show 10/10!

Was gifted a box of the almond biscuits. I’d never tried them before and wow! I couldn’t stop eating them! Delicate, a little crunch from the almonds on the outside and chewy on the inside! So moreish! They’re generously sized cookies and I think I ate about 4 before I realised!

The cake shop in itself is wonderful with it's displays of sweets and cakes. The sweets are alright too.
The customer service is abhorrent. Upon asking about the ingredients of a certain sweet I was demoted to 'not worth my time' behaviour. I was left to wonder what prejudice was causing such treatment as she was relatively decent interacting with all her other customers - though a bit curt.
So if you're politely wanting to be informed of a list of ingredients and be served as a customer should be... this may not be the best place.
It was spoken highly of. How disappointing.

Hi every Easter and Christmas I always buy the traditional Greek Easter and Christmas cakes “ as they r so yummy to eat. But every time I drive past this shop I always see the line out the door of the customers waiting to enter this establishment as they have good customer service and beautiful cakes and sweets on display.

I have been coming here for years and must say they have the best spinach and feta pie I have had . The biscuits, pastries and cakes are also so fresh and delicious
Everytime I have come I have always been served by lovely and kind staff . It is always a wonderful experience in Athena cakes for me

Lovely shop with a good range of Greek pastries and cakes. The Greek coffee was good although they could only offer takeaway on the Easter Sunday. The pastries were nice.

Best tasting cakes, tiropites, pastitsio, etc, everything I've tried from Athena's has been amazing, I'm addicted to their paximathia, the best I've tried so far! I eat a kilo per week 😔 and drive a good 25min each way to buy them, so worth it!! The staff are lovely and very helpful. Please don't ever change! 😊

Perhaps the best yoyos in Sydney and the pastes are of excellent quality! So why the three stars? 1. Main lady behind the counter seems grumpy and annoyed while serving and occasionally has a slightly condescending tone which should not be the case and 2. when you take into consideration that the place is quite pricy.

Love their cakes - especially their baklava. Great decor. Shame it's quite expensive given that staff slave away and get paid below minimum wages.

I love popping into Athena Cakes whenever I am in Marrickville. I love grabbing a freshly made spanakopita (pictured) or baklava or a bougatsa (pictured). It’s pastries I would never make at home and they are always consistently good! #athenascaleshop

Profiterole, almond cake and coffee - $5.40.<br/>I had to ask them whether they got my order right. Where I’m from a coffee costs that much, but you guys are giving me 2 cakes as well?! I love the suburbs and this is a great little cake shop that is obviously great value for money but makes great cakes as well. You can tell by the constant thoroughfare of people coming in, queuing up and moving on. There aren’t many seats so it seems to be revolving door of passers by.<br/>Nice people working here and very patient as they watched my 5 year old try and make up his mind, lol.<br/>

First time buying from this shop. I bought the red velvet cake for a function. AmaZing value for money. Great size and extremely good value. It looked stunning and was absolutely delicious and the entire thing was gone within 10 minutes! Will certainly be back.

I went for the old faithful baklava, galaktoboureko and kataifi. Pretty good but very sweet and syrupy, with not quite enough flavour. I've had better custards in other galaktoboureko. I'll be back to try other cakes though.

The honey biscuits were out of this world, gooey and oozy and divine with coffee. The profiteroles and cannoli, however, were a source of debate amongst the group. Charles and Camilla were clearly divided about the custard filling, and I was with Camilla in the ‘profiteroles should have crème pâtissière’ camp. I’ve got a lot of time for custard, but I didn’t like this custard, and I didn’t like it in the profiteroles or the cannoli. It was a bit gluey, a bit jelly-like, a bit of a funny taste going on. Charles was all over it though and thought it was just right.

What a wonderful cake shop!. Lovely cakes and I have to say something about how much I love the spanakopitas - very very authentic and delish! Also the whole feel of this shop. Love it! I will return.

Disappointed with the Cake. Bought a Tiramisu cake as a gift on a cousin's birthday. It was her favorite flavor. The cake looked really nice. But sadly it was nothing like any tiramisu I have ever had, rather tasted bitter . I was really embarrassed.
