Review Simmone Logue - Sydney

Alice DB
My favourite cafe and caterer!! We went through Simmone Logue Catering for a recent event. Rachel Northey was lovely to communicate with! She also organised our (rather complicated!) order with ease and efficiency. The food was fabulously fresh and it was also very well-presented. The Victoria Sponge Cake, with Strawberries and Cream, was a HUGE hit and really enjoyed by all. We highly recommend Simmone Logue for fresh catering (and for tasty coffee in Double Bay as well)! Many thanks, Alice & Matthew Butler (Woollahra)

The food from here is consistently wonderful. Everything is well-presented and tastes amazing! I don't love the coffee (but that might be just me). The food is very expensive (think $14 for a bowl of porridge) but the flavour won't disappoint. Service is hit and miss - I've had a few rude waiters but most are wonderful.

This morning Tuesday 7 th May 2019 I purchased an Almond Croissant to take away. After walking to my car which was many streets away I decided to eat the purchase and to my horror it was rock hard , very stale - most likely it was left over from either the past weekend or yesterday . For the $6 I paid I was mortified. Poor standards , I will not be returning or recommending this establishment - absolutely disgusted ! Richard Neville Food and Beverage Professional Vaucluse

Thought I would take Mothers day to my Mum rather than taking her out. Made a selection from what was on offer in Simones Double Bay shop. Wonderfully delicious, beautifully prepared food. Needless to say Mum was impressed! Thanks Simone!

I had heard good things about this cafe so I thought why not try it. When ordering food, the woman running the register acted as if she could not care less that I was there, then had the audacity to make fun of my American accent. To my face. After I ordered a veggie bowl with smoked salmon and a long black, she repeated back "oh reeeally? You want a veggieeee bowl?" With the most smug put on American accent she could muster. I hoped the food would make up for the terrible service. It did not. My veggie bowl consisted of rubbery Parmesan tasting mushrooms, going off wilting raw kale, watery quinoa, undercooked eggs, and some weird lasagne tasting sauce. The coffee was not much better, as it tasted like bitter and burnt. The worst part? The whole experience was vastly overpriced at $26.90.

Great food. But weird snobby service. Have to keep on coming back fro the great food. Not a sigle dish is below a Simmone Logue quality standard. However, staff give you the most bizzare and wierd service, often can seem rude and errogant, however, as mentioned above the food is fantastic. When I die I will become a saint. :)

Ordered a coffee to have here but then the next three people to order takeaway coffee walked out before I got my coffee. Ended up having to ask for my coffee which was weak and cool. Plenty of places around so I’ll go elsewhere from now on.

First time to eat at this cute little cafe at Double Bay. Front counter staff should have basic hospitality training. Seemed uninterested with her job, such poor customer service.

Another very poor customer service experience at the Double Bay store.
The take away food is generally good, but the staff don't seem to care about customers. It has been this way for at least the last 6 years.

Simmone, please read the reviews on this site and do something to radically change the customer experience.

Alternatively, do nothing and lose us all to the red hot competition

Bitter disappointment.
Thanks for the stone cold croque Simmone. It was just terrible. Maybe next time spend less time worrying about the fried egg, and more time heating up the sandwich. I want my $10 back.

Pretty disappointed in this place as it failed to do basic things right. The coffee was so burnt and really there was no reason as the barista was not under any pressure to make it quickly. I ordered some sourdough toast with.some butter. Now the price of $8 for the toast confused me as I usually purchase my coffee and toast for under 8$ at other local cafes. But the upsetting part was the size of the serving of toast I received. It would was served on a side plate with two really small pieces as shown in the photo. Other things I noticed were the cutlery not being cleaned properly as it took me three times to find a clean knife and the cups for the water still had water inside the cup from not drying properly. Very poorly run.

Absolutely fantastic food and coffee ... We must remain patient at busy times BECAUSE the wait is well worth it come the food simply scrumptious .....

COFFEE SHOP LOOSES COFFEE ORDER AND CUSTOMERS.. Worst experience I have had- waited 30 minutes for 2 coffees to then walk in and find the waitress making herself a protein shake in a shaker out the back and to then be told they had lost my order! Not only did it come out cold, it came as regular when we ordered a large which cost $10 for two coffees! They didn't care and proceeded to insist we ordered regular coffees until we showed them OUR receipt.

Food great, service poor. I've been visiting this cafe for many years. Despite the horrific service, the food and lack of choice kept us coming back. The coffee is awful with the staff often getting the orders wrong. The staff still can't remember the names and faces of people who visit there daily.

Thankfully, Double Bay is being revived and we now will be able to get great food at other locations. Maybe these guys became to used to not having competition and will improve.

Best Caterer & Excellent Service. I was looking for best Party Caterers for my baby's first b'day. My friend referred me Simmone Logue. I gathered information about their service & experience since I was not prepared to waste my money on some low quality providers. I got positive feedback and I decided to go with them. They are really an astounding catering company with great customer service. Everyone loved & enjoyed the cake, sweets and the dinner menu. Their team of workers were very helpful and courteous. Thank you for the delightful treat. I highly recommend Simmone Logue to all.

I’m usually for trying different dishes when I go to restaurants and cafes. As they often say, variety is the spice of life! However, there are some places where I return to the same favourite meal every time. For me, one of those places is the local café Simmone Logue at Double Bay. They do one of my favourite breakfast dishes ever - the Grilled Field Mushrooms . I substitute avocado for the feta that comes standard with it and it turns into the most wondrous of flavour combinations. The odd time that I have ordered something else, I have sat there wishing I had ordered my beloved grilled mushrooms. Although I order the same items off the menu each time, it is lovely to see the different interpretations taken by whoever is cooking. I like going to places where your dish will be one of a kind rather than one of many that looks like it is precision-tested off a production line. Sometimes my plate will have slices of avocado on the side and others it will be spread on the toast. Sometime

Although Double Bay is a bit out of the way for us to do regular visits, the homemade and heart-warming meals listed on the menu has gotten us keen to come back again to explore more of what the cafe offers. Sunday Roast is currently available every Sunday at Simmone Logue Double Bay until the end of Winter. Bookings are recommended.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Popping into Simmone Logue Double Bay for a Devonshire Tea ($12/person) last month reminded me of how useful her freshly made dinner options are, particularly back when I was living alone and time poor. While I was tucking into fluffy golden scones with house-made preserves and cream, most visitors to the store were loading up on takeaway dinner, from hearty serves of chunky split pea and ham soup, to Vietnamese chicken pho to rich beef bourguignon. You can also head down to the wide, leafy tree-lined streets of Double Bay for a Sunday Roast ($27.50/person) until the end of August. After admiring their counter of sweet stuff, I’d suggest you throw in a traditional pudding like sticky date, bread and butter, or apple crumble ($5.50/person) to make the most of your Sunday away from the washing up! By the way, this popular café has both indoor, as well as outdoor (dog-friendly) seating. Simmone Logue 2 Cross Street, Double Bay Ph: (02) 9327 5700

Whilst we just popped in for a sweet treat, I can tell you the banana cupcakes with passion fruit cream cheese icing are to die for. And the Victoria sponge cake was the best I've had since being in London 4 years ago. The serving sizes were small but very satisfying and left you not feeling piggy!!

Fitting in... My third time to Simmone Logue's with my SO. The food and atmosphere camouflaged perfectly within the hip and trendy surrounding. We went to DB around 3pm on Friday afternoon for a late brunch and soon dissolved into the relaxing atmosphere; quick service soon brought forward our much needed capps after a hard week at work, We have lost track of time as we slowly sipped our capps in this winter solace and joked about, but it must been a quick 10-15 minutes before our pho and meat casserole dish came out. The pho was full of fresh Asian flavours, the lemon, basil, CHILLI!! all blended nicely in the steaming stock. Mmmm. My missus had the casserole, which the meat was not only coming off the bone, but was full of flavour! The presentation was excellent. By the time that we are done, we felt like a bunch of Frenchs after an 6hr dine, slouching in the winter sun, all warmed up after absorbing all that energy. Will be coming back again for brunch! My next question would be.. what their next set of menu would be?

There is nothing fine about the food here. I have just had the most revolting, Watery, Luke warm scrambled eggs, with smoked salmon on toast. The wait staff were quite happy to serve my food and leave a heap of dirty cutlery and glasses on my table. Don't waste your time or money, there are much better places to eat in double bay.

High Quaility. I went to the Double Bay store the other day, It was very busy but the staff seemed to have it under control. The service was unbelieveble (best I have had in a long time) even though it was busy the staff seem to ensure customer service was a main priority (which you dont find in many places).
The quailty of the foods i bought were of a high standard - clearly only the best goes into her items on the menu.
Definately will go back

Delicious in Double Bay. Cute little cafe with the most amazing food. Have not been disappointed yet. Too bad its in Double Bay and everything is super expensive.

Cafe Combined Florest?. I have heard all about Simmone Logue and well aware of their reputation. The food was quality for sure, their coffee was good but not great for double bay.
They could do with wait staff that knows how to handle a busy cafe as they can never seam to handle their peek times and leave a lot of customers forgotten.

The cafe itself was very cute, I must say I loved their outside seating and the awnings above gave a great feel. The location itself is typical double bay dining, quiet enough to enjoy but not too surburbia.

A helpful tip Simmone Logue, do not leave old flowers next to the prepared food, and if they are fresh perhaps some insect repellent? A cafe isn't a florest nor is it the wetlands for every bug/insect to thrive in.

I will return for sure, however I'm contemplating on whether to bring some Mortein insect spray.

Service is terrible!. This place has good food, great coffee but absolutely terrible service. Have been numerous times for breakfast and lunch - I never get what I asked for in full, or I am forgotten. Last time my breakfast took nearly an hour to come out and everyone else had finished around me. I'll stick to takeaway coffee from now on!
