I’ve been here a few times now for breakfast and lunch and quite like the place
The bacon and eggs, for breakfast is a good choice with a good portion size.
The burger here was fantastic, the shake was pretty decent too. The coffee here is pretty good.
The price was a tad more then I was willing to spend but worth it. The service was ok, nothing special. I wouldn’t mind trying it out again sometime soon.
Excellent muffins and proper chai lattes. They make their own food rather than buy it in from some dodgy cafe supplier. A big plus for Soma’s kitchen. This is why it was packed. They should open up another in the cbd.
Small cafe on a corner but handily situated near the Ultimo TAFE and UTS (and the ABC studios). A short but healthy menu (with a couple of staples and treats in the cold display). I had the kale Caesar salad. The salad was vegan so I added chicken but to be honest, it would have been fine without. Serving size was huge and I can honestly say it was THE most amazing Caesar salad I’ve ever had! I will definitely got back to try other items, or just for that salad again.
My soy flat white was perfectly not butter, hot and filled with caffeine. Good service and prompt coffee orders. Great corner shop with a slightly dark atmosphere but convenient and friendly.
Happy friendly staff and really efficient service :-) Great Rwandan on the single origin today and the sourdough bread they use is perfect. Not usually one to write a review but my pit stop here this morning was an absolute day maker. Thank you Soma !!
Found this cafe in Chinatown which serves vegetarian & vegan food as my colleague is a vegetarian. I liked my Kale Caesar,
chopped kale & cos, croutons, crispy capers, beetroot, bacon & creamy cashew dressing. Felt super healthy eating it! It enabled me to indulge in a dark chocolate macadamia brownie which was addictive. My colleague liked her nourish bowl too. A place to keep in mind for healthy food!
Formerly Mecca Ultimo, this recent expedition maintains its roots in fantastic coffee while also adventuring into newer pastures. I would highly recommend their ice teas, sold in small glass jars, they have some interesting mixes that delight. The crowd is always an eclectic mix of students, professionals and entrepreneurs, which always makes for interesting conversation!
the coffee shop is just opposite my school so it's really handy to go. Staffs was nice and polite, drink was great but i cant say the same for the burger, it was a little bit too salty, but overall nice experience
Shakshuka eggs and double espresso. Eggs were delicious, and runny - amongst a rich chunky tomato sauce. Dish was spiced well and was great. Only thing letting it down was the average pitta. Double espresso was a little short but had a great finish. The place is trendy with dark colours, and had a relaxed vibe. Would recommend.
Good coffee - popular amongst workers & uni students in the area. Went for morning breakfast and ordered poached eggs on sourdough with extra bacon, wait wasn't long and service was quick.
Good, reliable coffees can be found here alongside some pretty friendly staff. Food is pretty average though - especially considering the prices they have mains at.
Pitaaaa, Chicken Pitaaa oh how I adore you. Chicken was nice-cooked&tender the whole dish was flavourful with spices, reminding me of indian food😁😄
To go with that was the cold-drip coffee ☕ served in a jar which was coool though I wasn't sure if putting sugar in a cold beverage would dissolve sooo...hehe I decided to face the bitterness full on! More bitter than I expected it to be 😂
Staff were really nice & patient, food came out really quickly and portions are decent sizes~
Pretty, pouting staff in black dishing up usual cafe fare, bae roll, croissant, kale super salad, shakshuka. Latte a tad too creamy and weak for me. Nice packaging though.
The service was great and the food was delicious. We ordered ham and cheese croissant and the egg & bacon roll. Staff were friendly and food was prepared instantly. They don't take eftpos which was okay because they have their own ATM :) Overall it was a great place to have breakfast!
I have coffee here nearly every day, being just around from my uni campus. The coffee is always great and the staff are excellent. It's perfect for a quick lunch too!
Serving Bircher muesli in a jar is an interesting idea but not very practical given that the spoon i received didn't really fit inside the narrow vessel.
Overall, Mecca is kinda brilliant. Its balanced coffee is a winner with a very fruity, well-developed flavour – just drinkable. Whilst the coffee shop feel may not suit everyone (food is a little lacking, I reckon, to score best café ever). There is simply nothing in the area that to compare it with and coffee-wise little in Sydney to compare it with. It would be an insult to call this the ultimate Gloria Jeans, but shit it should be, wish all chains would pull this weight. Mecca will leave you highly satisfied and will surely draw you back, if not for the coffee, but even just for the free coffee cupping sessions on Fridays.
Mecca is one of the prettiest cafe I've ever been, and I strongly reckon that they should also win for their amazing iced chocolate.
The flavour was creamy and rich and it was nice to sit for a while and not worry that we were taking up a table. I’m used to the cramped cafés of Newtown and surrounds which are generally pretty tiny, not the kind of places where you could spend the whole morning.

Mecca coffee is worth the accolades - full-bodied, intense but balanced and without any residual bitterness. We've gone through a range of flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes and iced coffees. Even the mocha gets a chirpy thumbs up by the Sugar Addict, revelling in the rare marriage of strong coffee with bittersweet chocolate.
First visit and disappointed (Breakfast). Whenever I passed by Mecca Espresso it seemed to be always packed, even at a 07:30 weekday morning there were already a few people inside. The environment itself is quite inviting and the staff was friendly, however when the shakshouka came whatever good vibe I had about the café went down the drain. I had expected to enjoy rich flavours with this dish but all I received in my mouth was an overwhelming saltiness, and to my horror there were small bits of eggshell as well. Considering the popularity of Mecca Espresso and the cost of this dish, I was certainly quite unimpressed. Coffee was nice though with fruity aftertaste.
I just made an urban spoon account then so the world could know that the kale super salad with chicken from this place is OFF THE CHAIN. My insides are smiling. Coffee is rad too.
Limited menu but consistently great coffee. A great place to buy beans and get them freshly ground to take home too.
Had a lovely breakfast here with my husband. We both ordered a brekky burger although I had gluten free bread with mine (which was really good!). They had a varied and tasty looking menu for breakfast, lunch and casual coffee with croissants and sweet treats. It's a shame that I'm not in Sydney for longer otherwise I would happily come back again. The lattes were very nice and the service was friendly and efficient. There's a decent amount of seating and the atmosphere is calm and quiet. A nice place to meet a friend or bring your book/laptop. Highly recommend :)
Excellent coffee, nice setting and good prices. Will come again in the future.
Great batch brews consistently. Also sells Mecca beans which is very convenient for your coffee bean fix
Great affordable coffee. I stuffed up my order and they fixed it no hassles. Appreciate it
Really good coffee with a nice atmosphere. Location makes it easy to spot. In terms of food, breakfast is offered before 11 and lunch is offered after 12. In between, there are only sandwiches. The place gets a mix of working professionals and a younger crowd.
Great coffee, great atmosphere! All you could ask for in a great cafe!
