Review Zabou Bar & Grill - Sydney

Excellent food thats good value for money. I’ve tried their “Dirty Bird” chicken burger which is my all time favourite burger. They do a Monday Madness pub meal for $10. A couple of burgers, Schnitty, fish and chips and Caesar salad to choose from. Food is plentiful and the service is great. A good find in the heart of the CBD.

Club York. Zabou’s Bar and Grill. Very conveniently situated near QVB. On the first floor, Zabou’s is a great place to eat in the Club. Extensive, very different menu with very reasonable prices. Order at counter and the meal delivered to table. We had a group there for lunch and everyone was more than pleased with the meal. The meals were delicious and substantial. There were a number of groups so advisable to book. Small yearly subscriptions worth joining for discounts on food and drinks.

Food is killer and good value. Drinks on a weekday is basically free. $3.50 schooners Monday- Wednesday you can't beat that. Classy and humble place

The food is always good but the guy serving us Tuesday was the best. Top quality hospitality at what's a hard time for these guys.

I think the quality and quantity of the servings are reasonable, given its a bistro attached to a pub. I wish the kitchen would remain open between 2 and 5 though, as there is a lack of late lunch spots in this part of town. Worth signing up as a member for the discounts

Have you ever felt insulted for dining at a restaurant? Usually it is because of the service or because of the portion sizes. At Zabou it is because of the quality, or lack there of. I ate here for the second time and ordered the Hotdog. This is a $13.50 hotdog ($15.50 if your not a member) so I assumed it was a gourmet hotdog like you see popping up all over the place. No. No no no. What I got instead was a footy frank (easily identified by its red sleeve and bland taste), a Coles bun and Masterfoods brand of ketchup and mustard with a bit of cheese - and yes you can absolutely tell all that by the taste. To be generous, this is a $1 hotdog sold for $14. I wasn't expecting much but I left feeling cheated. The first time I ate here I ordered the burger, It was so bad that I left it half finished (something I rarely do). But let's be honest you don't eat her because of the food, you eat here because of the location, its where the drinks are at or because of the pokies. Its a shame because most places like RSL's have great quality food, but not Zabou. Here it is on par with a bad hospital cafeteria. My recommendation - if you are here to meet with friends walk one minute to the corner and eat at Vapiano - food and atmosphere is great. If you are at Zabou during the weekday and want something quick, go to any of the 15 other cafe's on the street (and even right next door) who actually care about their food, or go to the Myer food court and pick whatever you want. I 100% GUARANTEE you that it will be a lot cheaper and of better quality. The only way I would eat here again is if they dropped their price by 75% and I couldn't be bothered to be too far a way from the pokies. The service and fries were fine.

Really loved the ribs (paired perfectly with a nice house-made smokey bbq sauce), the buffalo wings (with house-made special marinade) and the super crunchy sweet potato fries (though I would've liked these to be paired with the smokey bbq also!). The frappes were also quite enjoyable - I believe I ordered the Lulo which wasn't too sweet, while my cousin quite enjoyed the mango frappe, which was actually quite thick due to the use of a lot of mangoes!

Amazing crispy, juicy, chicken schnitzel and a great salad that goes with it. Excellent value and top notch pub cooking.

I went twice lately:

First time was a great lunch. Everyone in my large group was full of praise for their respective food - barramundi, normal fish 'n' chips or burgers. You can even take a wide variety of drinks from downstairs up.

Second time was at night after work. There was a limited dinner menu. However, the four items they did which included steak & chicken schnitzel were very good from my experience and the looks of the other dishes in my group. (They also had a variety of snacks/chips dishes that aren't sufficiently substantial). Live music was good.

Tucked away upstairs in Sydney’s CBD at Club York is the new and improved Zabou Bar and Grill. Inspired by New York City, Zabou’s new menu features an eclectic mix of cuisines and influences (as well as some very clever puns), just like the melting pot that is the Big Apple.

We tried a variety of hotdogs, burgers and milkshakes, all of which were presented beautifully and tasted just as good. The Red October hotdog contained an insanely juicy kransky with sauerkraut and sun-dried tomato pesto -- it’s a handful of a dog but every bite packed a wonderful punch. The DIrty Bird burger is a must-try for anyone who fancies themselves as a burger connoisseur. It is a monster of a burg; a huge piece of crunchy tender fried chicken is sandwiched between a soft and sweet milk bun, accompanied by cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles and a beautiful chipotle mayo.

The milkshakes are also a very decadent sweet treat. We sampled the Peanut Butter Maple and Salted Caramel Pretzel shakes -- just reading those words on the menu felt naughty. They were amazing shakes; super tasty, with many dimensions of flavours. If you’re after something from the bar, Zabou’s cocktail menu is also quite fabulous. Our favourite was the Frosty Fruit, which tastes just like your favourite childhood ice block, except it will get you tipsy -- and now that you’re a grown up you can have as many as you like!

Zabou has gone through a highly successful reinvention. The menu reflects current trends whilst also having its distinct twist, and there are many menu items which I think have the potential to become new classics in the Sydney foodie scene, particularly in the burger community. Zabou is the perfect place for lunch with the coworkers or 5 o’clock drinks and nibbles with mates. It’s a relaxed and casual place in the heart of the city so there is really no excuse not to visit!

Thought this place was fantastic! Service was amazing, and I was overall extremely pleased! We met the owner and the chef, and it was great to see how passionate they both were about serving good food! Headed down one night and we had "The In-Fidel" which was delicious and my personal favourite of their burgers... the "dirty bird" which looked and tasted outstanding! It had southern fried chicken, crumbed cheddar, lettuce, tomato, bacon and chipotle mayo! Holy moly! What a burger! My fabourite meal of the night was their BBQ baby back ribs... they are slow cooked in a chefs special bbq sauce basting, which are then chargrilled. This BBQ baste will change your life. I could not get enough of it! And the seasoning on their chips... don't even start me! So flipping good. Dip the chips in the BBQ baste an you have yourself ultimate happiness! Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

🚩🚩 @zaboubng X @papayapr 🚩🚩
🍔 DIRTY BIRD: southern fried chicken, crumbed cheddar, lettuce, tomato, bacon, chipotle mayo topped with Brooklyn pickle 🍔
.
💙 Solid dirtiness/ 10. Loved the kick in the chipotle and the fried cheddar patty. Little bit of salad to offset the heaviness of it all and a good coating on the chicken breast. Bun held well, seasoning on chips was off tap 💙
