A friend took me here and it was such a great atmosphere; it wasn’t super loud nor super quiet. Staff was super super nice and cocktails were super yum!! Would highly recommend!!
Loved the food here - it was absolutely delicious and really well presented.
The drinks were good too.
Service was also good and the place wasn't too packed which is always a bonus.
Ambience was quite nice.
Located under the Subway entrance so might be a bit confusing to find but other than that, no complaints!
This bar is pretty chill and for the nights that my group came here to hang and catchup, it wasn't as loud and super busy as the other bars out on Clarence Street. The venue had a very nice and neat setting and the path to the restrooms had unique framed pictures on the wall. The staff and service were friendly and very good. The drinks we ordered were decently priced and tasted nice and balanced. Great place to drink and talk about life with friends. o(^▽^)o
The Swinging Cat is an overly quiet underground cocktail bar not far from the Apple store. It has a classic yet simple decor which matches its name, although even during an evening with live music, there just seems to be an empty vibe, as if the place seems to lack personality or life. The place has a classy feel and their cocktails are divine, so I find it odd there seems to be something lacking and can't seem to pin-point it.
Lovely little bar with friendly table service and a really relaxed vibe. We visited on a Saturday and there was a band playing live music. It added nicely to the atmosphere even though the style wasn't totally my thing. Will definitely return, this place would be perfect for post-work drinks if you worked in the city.
Sydney is yet to have an officially-declared small bar precinct, but if it did The Swinging Cat would be at its epicentre. All that competition might explain why this bar excels in a range of ways. It doesnt start off so well as you have to head into the same entrance that leads to Subway, smells and all, but take a quick left down the stairs and the atmosphere changes into a friendly, softly lit venue with genuinely friendly service.
‘Mixing up new cocktails is just a lot of drinking really. A lot of drinking and talking smack,’ our bartender told us as he casually mixed up one of his brand new creations. Great hidden gem!. A great little bar hidden off King St, look for the Subway sign to find the entrance. Enjoyed a few delicious cocktails and looking forward to coming back for more. Lots of room, great place to meet friends for a drink after work. Won't stay a secret for long!
Best Bar in Sydney. I LOVE this bar!! It is so beautifully finished with comfortable furniture, elegant lighting and subtle fragrances, and the drinks are mind blowing.
The staff and super knowledgeable and really friendly. I can't fault a single thing about it.
This will definitely be my new weekend hang out.
Such a nice space for date night. Suited for catch up with friends too. We had a very nice cheeseboard and we were lucky enough to hear a jazz band play on the night we went. You definitely need a booking for this venue, as it’s quite small and very popular. Very friendly staff and they were very polite & gracious when time was up for our seating 😄
Came on a Friday night with no booking. The waitress helped us find a table with no trouble. Table service which was super efficient and friendly. Cocktails we ordered were great and would definitely come back to try more from their very interesting drinks list!
Most amazing venue I have been to in a long time. This post lockdown jazz bar is inspirational in it’s ability to have attentive table service from Sam (who was amazing by the way) as well as the venues ability to recreate the jazz area vibe. We came for the jazz but would come back for the amazing service we got from out servers as well as Shwaa and his amazing recommendations and knowledge of Cocktails. 10/10 would come back for the drinks vibe and for the music.
What a vibe!! This bar is definitely worth adding to your list of must trys. The house cocktail; The Royal did not disappoint!! Lovely staff and the atmosphere was sexy and cozy. Will be back!!
Great place and ambiance, we saw the live jazz band which was lovely! Service is a bit slow though and not much food selection. But the cocktails were great!
Went to this place for the first time last night. They managed to get us in even though we didn’t have a reservation and we are so thankful they could get us in. It was absolutely incredible. The vibes were amazing, the live music was fantastic and the cocktails were delicious. I’d love to shout out Jodie and Dan for being so spectacular all night. They were so kind and attentive and they definitely contributed to me wanting to come back here again and again. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

They have a band that plays a subtle jazz which is great. Because you have a nice music in the background and can listen to your friends as well.
This is a true Sydney gem! My new favourite bar! I loved the love jazz and it has a great moody vibe. The cocktail list is good and I thoroughly enjoyed my drinks. Didn’t eat there but I think there’s a food list (at least bar snacks). Can’t wait to go back
