Finally made it to Chicken & Sons and boy it did not disappoint!! Truth we were well tipsy after 5 pints but my god how amazing that mac n cheese went with the juicy chicken burger. We inhaled it within seconds. Still dreaming about it!! And the chips are crunchy and bloody amazing too! Go get it, honestly the best thing that happened in my life! 🍔🍟

The chicken burgers are a solid 7/10 and are definitely big but not the best out there, chicken breast is used in these burgers with a thick batter that lacks flavour and is a little oily. It comes with medium cut chips which are nice and crispy. Stay away from the wings, they have thick batter similar to the burgers and are really oily, we couldn't eat them. We also tried two salads, they were all rice. I would go back for the burger if I was in the area but wouldn't travel for it.

The burgers are quite pricey (however they include chips) and the chips are average. The chicken in the burgers are big with a lot of batter but the chicken itself is quite plain. The service is good and the food comes out quick.

The fried-chicken burgers here are perfect - crispy, non-greasy buttermilk crust and hot, juicy chicken. I have a dietary requirement that means I have to ask for a change to the order and they always deliver and never make me awkward about it. 10/10 every single time and great service from the bar staff at The Horse!

Burger was ok. No sesame alternative for the bun, so had to have 2 pieces of lettuce. Both the chicken and the chips were cold. It came really quickly though. I guess they didn't reheat it long enough.

I’ve been there 3 times before but today was the last one. I ordered 2 burgers and both were flavorless, dried beef and burned buns. Also, chips were below average and poor quality than before.

Food was superb, The Duck Burger Special this week was excellent. I cant speak highly enough of all the food we had.

My fiance and I had lunch at the Surry Hills store yesterday and it was fantastic! I ordered the Big Bird and she ordered the wood smoked free range 1/4 chicken. We shared the truffled mac and cheese.
The burger was massive and it tasted delicious! It was like a chicken big mac but on flavour steroids.
We would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Best jerk chicken I had in a long time! And topped it of with truffled mac and cheese

Chicken and Sons Surry Hills is a Sydney institution of chicken and burgers. Chef Adam is truly a Sydney Chef/ Burger personality and his fine dining background adds a level of nuance that elevates the venues from the norm. If you live in Surry Hills or don’t mind some travel hit them up for the roast dinner on a Sunday and if you like decent burgs then get to any of their locations stat! Tell them JK sent you so they can say “who the f**k is JK?”

Excellent lunch here today, loving all the mixed spices and dressings used here, look forward to returning to try the rest of the menu out.

The seasoning on the chicken was delicious and cooked perfectly! However, to me the slaw and house-made pickles lacked flavour. Overall though, still a delicious burger!

Great menu! Burger paradise! Their fried chicken is amazing and could eat it endlessly! Hack your burger and make a tower! Get as much chicken on as possible! You won’t regret it! Once you been once you will be a regular

Quite conflicted on the food here (Chicken and Sons, which has now replaced The Horse's menu) The burger I had I felt was fairly average. The bacon tasted overcooked which I understand is part of the "smokey meat" thing the chain is aiming for, but I just found this really derived it of flavour. The decision to stack chicken on top of a beef patty also felt a bit strange. On the contrary, the fries were some of the best I've had in my life, no exaggeration! They had the perfect crispy exterior that was slightly chewy, which I know mightn't sound great on paper but trust me, they're amazing. Also had the perfect amount of salt, which seems to be quite rare most of the time in other restaurants. You know what? Right now, until I find something that can top these, I'm gonna say these are the best fries you'll find in Sydney. Big claim, but I'm very serious lol
As for the atmosphere, technically this is The Horse's establishment, so I'll review that seperately.

The White Horse hotel in Surry Hills is a great pub venue with a pleasant outdoor dining area upstairs. Service is friendly.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great Chicken and Sons experience with the Mother Clucker, a burger of ample proportions piled high with grilled spiced chicken breast, cheddar, lettuce, bacon, tomato and tortilla crumble, and doused with Mother Clucker hot sauce. Not entirely convinced about tortilla chips on a burger; they were chewy (stale?) and didn't add anything to the burger. Next time I'll stick with the buttermilk fried chicken.
