The service was outstanding with the bartenders not only showcasing their knowledge but also being friendly and happy to have a chat when suitable. What a great find! With friendly and knowledgeable staff, a great environment, superb cocktail and drinks list .. and on the night we went a fantastic jazz trio (the young lady singing was amazing!)... There was no better way to spend a couple of hours on a Friday night!

What a beautiful little bar with fantastic service, a huge drinks list including an amazing range of wine and last, but not least, an amazing live jazz band! It really brought the house down without being too overwhelming for the relatively small bar - amazing!

Not big on cocktail bars.......but this was the exception. Lovely setting great location and exception drinks on offer.
However......a bar is only as good as the bartenders and Jackson is a cut above.....great fun night out. Look forward to visiting again soon

3.2<br/><br/>This is a small but attractive bar attached to the well known art hotel. Good selection of alcohol here including a rather fetching calvados that brought back memories of a Normandie trip long ago and visits to local calvados makers. <br/><br/>Service is a bit variable at the IXL bar. We ordered a cheese platter and were solemnly promised by the bar server that the platter would be delivered to the seating area in the hotel reception just beside the bar entrance. We went to that area because the bar itself was very busy. However, the cheese wasn’t delivered as promised and on enquiry we found the lost platter ourselves lying forlorn and forgotten at the far end of the bar. Not good. At least the local cheeses on the platter were very good highlighted by a spectacular blue. Overall, it was a good platter. <br/><br/>Note, an unexpected advantage of sitting in reception is watching the guests wander in and out. Speaking of art, who remembers Mr Curly and the great impressionists?<br/><br/>I’d give the bar another go perhaps.

With one of the best bar tenders in Hobart this bar is a welcome relief from the cold. The variety of local Whiskey, Gin, Moonshine and other spirits was impressive as was the addition of many local Australian spirits.

Had the best drink of my life here. My husband and I stayed at Henry Jones for our honeymoon. Popped in for drink before going out for dinner. I asked the bartender for something bright and sweet-sour with gin. She made something with fresh lemon, mulberry juice and local Poltergeist gin which was so good we delayed our dinner reservation so I could have another!! Our only complaint is it was absolutely freezing inside - no heater or fire to sit beside and the leather seats made it feel even colder. Add some space heaters and it will get a 5.0 rating the next time we're there.

We really enjoyed this little wine and cocktail bar. Cosy feel and great service by experienced barman. We were repeat customers during our stay.
