Review The Saffron Indian Restaurant - Hobart

Favour
It was a beautiful evening spent with family and friends for a birthday dinner. Staff were lovely and helpful, every item of food cooked beautifully and didn't take forever to come out. Salmon curry was spectacular. Kids friendly and at a beautiful waterfront location. A surprise special birthday day song was played for the birthday boy which was very much enjoyed and appreciated. I didn't give a five star to them because, it was the first time I ever had to buy curry that wasn't served with either or both rice and nan bread. We had to buy rice and nan bread separately. Overall, a near perfect experience.

I don’t usually post unless I hate the place or love it but this place is a hidden gem! The restaurant is such good value! Each dish we ordered was so tasty! We couldn’t fault it. Have been back again and is now our go to Indian restaurant. We used to go to Other places to have authentic Indian but now have found a much closer local place :)

Food was good but quantity was very less. We ordered full and and dal but it was enough for 1 person only. Staff was very nice. Food quality was great. Location is outstanding.

really nice quality food with reasonable pricing. couldn’t get over how fluffy the rice and naan was and flavourful the curries were. food did take a little while but worth the wait. only thing was we had to choose a table and get the menu ourselves which was poor customer service

Arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. Apparently they did not have our reservation at all. As we had our 1.5 year old daughter with us, we asked for a high chair. We were then placed in a dusty dirty corner with no view at all. We waited over an hour and 40 minutes for a serve of Butter Chicken, A Prawn curry and rice. Due to our parking spot running out of time(we had 2 hours!) and being ignored by staff. We left after paying for our entree. Which in hindsight should of been offered for free. Nearly 2 hours for a simple curry is outrageous as we ordered well before other diners even arrived. Upon letting staff know we were leaving, we were told it was magically ready right now and we can have it as Take Away....Seriously?? Staff also seemed to care less about our long wait and obviously flustered young child. As they said nothing at all. So all in all my wife's Birthday meal was a disaster from start to finish. Thanks Saffon! Please AVOID!!!

The food was absolutely amazing fresh and very generous serving size . The service was outstanding. Honestly I couldn’t be more happier at a dinner service. Most definitely will be back when I visit Hobart next.

Delicious! The best Indian meal I've ever had! We also appreciated the sustainable packaging for takeaway. Can't wait to return. Thank you🙂

Food was aweful. Meat was tough, dry, old, tiny and unrecognisable. The share platter for 2 and other entree was barley enough for 1. Plus dessert and a pepsi (which didnt come), the meal was far too over priced. Don't recomend. Ordered from Menulog.

One of the best Indian restaurant in Hobart, I visited there last week and I had tandoori chicken and veg curries and I must say it was delicious and service was good. It is the only one stop for best food.

Had the butter chicken which had a nice bit of heat to the sauce. Hubby had lamb korma sauce was flavoursome and tender meat. Cheese and garlic naan with shredded cheese was the best we have had from them tonight. Drinks topped up regularly with busy service in restaurant

The food is AMAZING and the service wonderful. I love the atmosphere & how the tables are spaced out - you aren't sitting on top of each other. The table is attended just enough, not over kill or left with no service. Our favourite Indian restaurant! They went as far as giving us 2 bucks for the parking meter outside as we didn't have any change & were going to ask for cash out. Saved us time and just added it to our bill. We dined from 530pm til 730pm and were not rushed to leave. It can get busy & meals can take longer (we found in the past) but nothing too bad. We booked earlier this time and had no issues. Love this place and the food is second to none

Absolutely amazing meal and the service was brilliant. All the staff were friendly and were only too happy to make sure we had the best time ever. It was my Birthday and they even surprised me with a dessert with sparklers and candles. These guys are the best !!!!!!

We love Indian food so we were thoroughly delighted with the divinely spiced curries and mouthwatering naan at Saffron this week. The service is prompt and very friendly and the whole experience was lovely. We will certainly return to Saffron when we are next in Hobart.

Went last night with hubby and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly and food was delicious. Couldn't finish I was so full! Pricing was on par with most nights out to dinner, so couldn't fault them! When offered the pappadums and condiments on entrance, I fully expected it would cost me, as it should. Imagine the cost if they gave that out for free to every customer that came in? It's a business, not a charity. Would absolutely go back again.

Absolutely putrid. Service was terrible, charged for papadums and corkage when the waiter didn't even poor the wine for us. Massive black hair in the curry, the owner suggested it was a blonde one and insinuated we put it in the bowl. Poor table service. First and last time I go there. Disgusting!
