Review Sush Track - Hobart

Darius Cheesman
Great fun. Select from menu on screen or from Sushi train. I particularly like the Sake tasting offer. 3 Selected Sake to taste with information about each.
Xfactor
Great place and very fresh nice sushi & other entrees & mains
Christine Andrews
Good service. Fast and efficient. Food is authentic and good quality. The rice in the sushi is perfect and the soy sauce is exactly how it should be for sushi. The gyooza was nice but more steamed than pan fried and the pastry a bit thin. I loved the nigiri tamago, it's just like what you would expect in Japan. We were very happy. Perfect for a quick and cheap meal.
Karen Li
Expensive and small portions but fresh and authentic. Super busy most days so be prepared to wait.

First time here, if you are planned to come around peak hour, you might expect more waiting time. However, the food and service is good and fresh.

Really nice place for dinner, good size portions and the sake taster was nice. The prices are really great too and the staff are really helpful and nice. The toilets are really good it made you feel like you are on a train in Japan haha

Lovely sushi train spot - I could eat a dozen of their grilled salmon nigiri! It was also the first time I've ever had tempura banana. Staff are welcoming and friendly, and the dining environment is clean.

Excellent little sushi train restaurant. I always return to this restaurant when I am in Hobart. Suggestion for change is the booking of tables, for such a small restaurant, having booked tables turns me off as a customer just trying to get a quick healthy bite in. Also, the period of time when the order is placed until it arrives at the table.

This has to be the funkiest eatery in Hobart. We had the honour of attending a 'practice session' prior to opening and we were delighted. The food is worthy of a Tokyo sushi-ya, the tap beer is genuine imported Asahi Super-Dry, the decor is elegant, the staff quietly supreme, and the toilets politely inform you of what bullet-train station is coming next. That's got to be useful in some universe or another. There's even a clever five-minute-warning reservation system, where if the place is full you go on a list and Sush Train will text you when the seats become free – you have five minutes to claim your place – a good idea when there are plenty of drinkeries nearby. We stuffed ourselves and our bill was $20 each (and beer is reasonable). Great stuff, chaps.

Today was the first time my wife, son and I attended your fine establishment, and it is the best eatery I've ever been too. The sushi was not only the tastiest on earth, the selection was incredible. The waiting time was very reasonable considering we rocked up at 12:30pm and the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. Shout out to the guy in the Garfield chef's pants. I'll be coming back very soon!

It was one of the best food experiences I have had. Great food great, atmosphere and friendly happy staff.

Very poor customer service to walk around at 3pm and say you wont get the lunch special if you dont pay right now. We got there at 2.35 and hadn't had a chance to eat what we wanted. We would have spent more money but decided to leave to avoid being charged extra for each plate. How ridiculous.

Love a place where we can go as a family and all find something we love to eat. Friendly, efficient service and the food is fresh and delicious. Love.

Beautiful staff great location super fresh delicious food

No wait time on food (unless you order), drinks and ordered food take 10-15 minutes depending on how busy it is. Worth every $. Even the food I don't like is good, quality stuff. 10/10 will eat there again... many times.

The tempura veg was great. Octopus was nice flavor just a bit tough. Drinks are a bit expensive. But great food . I will be back.
Veronique Trudel
Loved it! Fresh food, good location. Would definitely eat there again! Can we have one of these in Launceston?
Anna Renata
Yummy fresh sushi with matcha cake, mini spring rolls and a Tasmanian twist- oysters:) Set in a nice location just opposite the Hobart Harbour area- Brooke street pier etc. And it's always nice and quick to get a spot when dining solo lol. Definitely recommended!

The food was great - but I requested Tempura Prawn and was told you don’t make it which was disappointing. Overall 4/5
Mark Walker
Small serves but excellent food and service
Codie Harris
Amazing food and amazing customer service thanks for a great night
Kim Barnes
Amazingly cheap, tasty and I could watch the train going around all day!

Some of these reviews are either fake or people are really missing out on good sushi places. Nothing positive to report
Jess
Seems to survive due to location only - no sauce provided on any dish, all condiments like wasabi and ginger need to be ordered separately and some are charged.. the food that does come out is mediocre quality at best. Disappointing considering the seafood quality in the rest of Hobart is top notch

Nice basic sushi train spot, not a great deal of variety especially in the sashimi aspects. <br/>Green tea wasn’t included and really a bit too washed out unfortunately. <br/>Matcha and sesame cheesecake was nice, biscuit crust a bit on the harder side, would be great if a bit more thawed before serving! <br/>

Had tea at Sushi Track tonight with the family. 5 kids wife and myself. Was busy and had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. To me that’s a good sign that they were busy on a relatively quiet Friday. Clean restaurant with efficient staff. Had a special dietary request that was not in the menu but was catered for. Overall we all ate and were very pleased with the quality of food. No complaints which is rare for us and all wanted to go back again the next day for lunch or tea. The bill was less than expected so happy there too. Special mention for the sashimi tuna. Waiter made mentioned that it was Tasmanian waters freshly caught tuna. Generous serve with good quality wasabi (not from packet) caution very hot. Very tasty tender sashimi best I’ve had but I’m no expert. Highly recommend sushi train restaurant.

A great place to get your sushi fix in Hobart! I went there after a long driving journey so it might be extra tasty for me. (I think it is even better than the popular sushi trains in Melbourne..) The ingredients were very fresh. Price was reasonable - $3.8- 4.8 per plate. I really enjoyed the egg roll, unagi roll, mushroom tempura and tuna salad gunjan. Highly recommended.
LaunnieFoodLover
The service was fast. A good range of sushi available. The only improvement would be if the chicken etc in the sushi was more freshly made but otherwise I thought the overall sushi fresh and delicious.<br/>

Sorry <br/><br/>I’ll try and be as constructive as I can<br/><br/>I didn’t order the sushi <br/><br/>Maybe I should of<br/><br/>Ordered teriyaki chicken <br/><br/>Very very mediocre <br/><br/>In fact horrible <br/><br/>Have a look at the photos <br/><br/>Boiled chicken tossed in a wok for color with hardy any sauce - hence - flavorless <br/><br/>Never again<br/><br/>Toodles

Wonderful place with a upbeat yet relaxing vibe. Food was fantastic. Freshly and tasty. Highly recommend you visit this place for lunch or dinner.

Lovely little sushi place with a train and ala carte menu. Not too expensive and the staff are super friendly. Sushi was nice and fresh. Right on the wharf so it has nice Views too.

Good price and food! I was there for lunch special. All plates are $3.80. Staffs are very nice and helpful. The wasabi was quite strong in flavour. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Came here with my friends twice, sushi were delicious 😋 lunch deal is great for $3.8 each, I can tell which one is my favourite, cause I love all of them!!! Green tea ice cream taste so good, friendly service
Cullen254
Really good lunchtime choice with a bargain price - less than $4 a plate for everything on the menu. Not stellar quality, but super fresh (made in front of you). Great variety, tasty, kids love the counter train. What’s not to like? Be prepared to queue on busy days. That’s not a problem, it’s an accolade. <br/>

The best part of this restaurant would be the staff. They're all quite friendly and energetic. The food is reasonably priced and it's quite nice. Definitely a good experience if you've never tried dining at a sushi train restaurant before
Katie Sutton
Sushi was so fresh and delicious, but some aspects of the service seemed a bit disorganised - we had to order ginger via the iPad and it took a while to come - we had finished half our plates before it arrived! Would rate it higher if they could make the service a bit more slick. Everyone was friendly and we came here twice on our short holiday, so this says something!
Swechha Shrestha
I've never been disappointed here. Their salmon sashimi is the best in town. Usually there is a bit of a wait before you can go in but totally worth the wait.
Travelling Pom
Came for lunch and seated quickly. You order everything through an ipad when ours wasn't working we tried to call over a waitress who didn't come help us for around 5 minutes. Service really wasn't fantastic but the sushi really was amazing. A little on the pricey side at $4 a plate, but really was delicious. Also had to pay $1.50 for wasabi which I'd never encountered before. Food would be 5/5 but all the other things lacking takes it down to 3.5
Hello Miss May
Freshest sashimi you can get in town! The locals totally recommend Sush Track. And it did not disappoint. Hehe.<br/>Went with my family and we ate everything up. Yum!<br/><br/>And I even had green tea ice cream afterwards. The soft serve was the perfect end to my lunch. Would love to come back again to Tassie.

Went here at 9pm, was seated, ordered, and then was told the kitchen had run out of rice for the night!<br/><br/>The menu is also quite limited, just a handful of rolls and sushi available. So if you're thinking of going, check out their menu first online, to see if there are dishes you like before you go.
Jack Towns
Arrived at 8:25pm today with 4 bits of sushi on the train, to be told that the kitchen closes at 8:30. Surprising given the website has 11am - 9pm. No offer to make items off the menu. Waste of time.

I've eaten in many sushi train Japanese restaurant around Australia and was disappointed that sush tracks didn't have the bento, udon and rice combo option. Lots of sushi option (cold) but not enough hot options especially they are locate in Hobart (cold state!).
Food Glorious Food
First of all, I must say I am quite critical about sushi trains. Probably because I've been so fortunate in the sushi train choices I have back in Brisbane.<br/>Prices are a little steep compared to what I'm used to. $4.20 instead of 2.80.<br/>Sashimi salmon was a little tougher than I'd liked. Probably because the fish is fattier here. Green tea was not refillable. <br/>Food wise, not amazing but not bad either. Not s spot I'd rave about. <br/>Service was pleasant as per usual in any Japanese eatery

We found this place by chance. We were just walking around the waterfront searching for an eating place for dinner. We had tried numerous sushi train before and we thought, we should check this place out. We were greeted by the staff and asked to chose a place to sit as I think they just started serving dinner. I found it very satisfying. You can order a meal or just pick what you like from the arrays of sushi on the belt. Once you are done you can ask for the bill and someone will come to count how many plates did you take and you will asked to go and pay in the counter. Such  a neat place, you should check it out if you are in the area and you feel like eating japanese cuisine.

Good ambiance but fills up rather quickly . Decent pricing and walking distance from bats and night life. There was pretty limited dishes on the train belt (more if ordering from menu)<br/><br/>

Loved the food here. Everything was fresh and tasty. I especially liked the scallops and the beef tataki. The tablet was a very convenient way to place orders and service was very efficient.
LivingLovingHobart
Raw fish and rice rolls, Australians have grown to love them. Fast, healthy, and multicultural food, sushi ticks the right boxes. For a long time, sushi was overwhelmingly popular in Hobart, as elsewhere. Sushi takeaway places were popping up everywhere, everybody was eating it, loads of people were making it at home and Habitat sold sushi-rolling devices.<br/>It’s fully licensed and unlike other trains with colour-coded plates, every plate at Sush Track is $3.80, easy-peasy. Your bill will be calculated in the multiple of empty plates left behind. It makes Sush Track affordable if you have self-control. But that’s the secret of the sushi train success – the fun in excess. You can even post a Facebook pic in the competition for the highest number of empties.

I love this place. I have been a couple of times and haven't been disappointed. All the food is great quality and quite reasonably priced. It's such a nice place to go not only for the novelty of the train but for some really nice Japanese!
TINA JOHNSON
The highlights of this place is that it uses fresh Tasmanian salmon in their sushi. The price however is too high, and the portion sizes are not very big. However, since Hobart doesnt really have other real japanese sushi places, this may be the best place to experience sushi.

Communication is the name of the game. Went for lunch, after 15 minutes of pretty uninspiring poorly presented dishes, ordered from the electronic menu. In all of the many sushi train themed restaurants I have been to if what you would like is not coming around on the conveyor belt you can order it. waited 20 minutes nothing arrived, called up the electronic bill 3 items were sitting there with the wheel in motion. Called for staff member, "these aren't available to order, they have to come on the train". Will you be putting any of these interesting dishes on the train ? "No not at lunch time". If you want just spring rolls, wantons and poor sushi dishes don't go here. If you want some of the nicer dishes, don't go here at lunch time. Needless to say we didn't get the cringeworthy japanese team chant when we left.
Jess
Great little sushi train at Franklin Wharf. Loved the iPad service concept, really helps to streamline service, particularly when it gets busy. Lovely diversity in the food, all prepared with a smile. Authentic and tasty food, well worth a visit if you enjoy Japanese cuisine.

Finally :). Love the sushi train experience and food, went on Sat, hard to park but had a great time there, super friendly staff. Tried to go Sun but was not open and no store hours on the window, tried again Tues for lunch, still closed. I have now located opening hours and will make another attempt.
Nice Sandwich
Really cool place. Love the feel of the place and the friendly staff. The train was good fun. The food was excellent and affordable.

A very welcome addition to Hobart's culinary scene. Being a huge fan of the mainland Sushi Train franchise, I was looking forward to the opening of Sush Train with great anticipation. I was not disappointed, but some of my fellow diners were. They had only been open for three nights, so the following comments should be viewed with that in mind. <br/><br/>If items are offered as "train items only", they cannot be ordered. Some of the basics, like regular salmon or tuna rolls, belong in that category. We brought kids with us, and they had to sit there waiting in the vain hope that some of this more simple fare might be placed on the train. It never appeared. Eventually we pleaded with the waiter to ask the chef to oblige. She agree to do so, but by the time these items were produced, the adults had finished their meals. I'm not sure I understand the rationale for this approach because it will inevitably lead to some diners feeling short-changed. It's as if they're saying "We offer this on our menu but you can't have it because we don't feel like making it right now. Maybe if you come back another time...."<br/><br/>We sat in the booths which were comfortable enough. But the low seating position relative to the train makes it difficult to see what's on offer. The train is obviously designed to be at "serving counter" level to make it easier for the kitchen staff. Perhaps the booth tables should at the same level, with raised stools, instead of benches. A minor complaint - only because my son had to keep jumping to his feet to see whether his (absent) salmon rolls were on their way.<br/><br/>One minor gripe about the soy sauce. It was VERY salty (for our taste). So salty that I intend to bring my own next time I go. This is the saltiest soy sauce I have ever tasted.<br/><br/>On balance, we really enjoyed our meal at Sush Train. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and so, so delicious. The service was great. I wish they would open at lunch time. I'm really looking forward to returning - but may do so later in the evening in the hope that more of the "train only" (???) items will be available.

Excellent, speedy & friendly service, great ambience & the freshest sushi in town. Great range and value at $3.80 per "train plate," plus a la carte options. Top beverage options too, including sake & plum wine, though I'd like to see more Tassie whites on the menu (a Riesling for instance). Can't wait to go back
Bossy
Disappointing. Went there for the first time tonight and wasn't happy at all. Due to a few reasons. I went there with every intention of destroying Gyoza dumplings, only to find to my dismay that you can't order them even though the iPad menu lets you. After 10 mins of waiting for them I called the staff, She informed me that those are train only. Which means I have to wait there and hope that they appear on the train at random. This is not how sushi trains on the mainland work. Any and every dish is order-able and made to order on request. <br/><br/>The second being those stools around the train itself are horribly uncomfortable to sit on, I'm 6 ft tall and my feet didn't reach the weirdly designed foot rests. Upon discovering the stools, we asked to be moved and were informed that we couldn't because our iPad menu had already been setup. <br/><br/>Also the drinks available wasn't impressive. 6 dollars for 250ml of juice is a joke. How about just a fridge filled with soft drink and ice teas. All I have to compare this place to is mainland sushi trains and this place doesn't compare. Not even close
Kuu
Great and not bad. If we must make comparisons to "mainland" sushi trains (come on, pull your head out), I would say Sush has done a pretty decent job. The food is good. The Aburi was delicious. The selection of food is more than adequate and obviously you need to be patient if there is something specific you want (or you know, you could try not being an absolute spanner and ask if something can be made, just like any other sushi train).<br/>The place is modern, the staff are friendly and I love the location.
Cscarr
Good but not great. If you compare sush train Hobart to sushi train in the mainland, there are some obvious downfalls. For example, the rice isn't cooked fresh and seasoned like authentic sushi and definitely not as much variety as you would get in the mainland. Front of house needs to be managed better as we
Kegs.sutton
Can't wait to go back with the kids. Really loved the concept. Service was great. Food was excellent. If I could give some constructive criticism I would say it would be nice to see a bit more variety on the train. There was no sushi with the seaweed on the outside which would have been nice. After a while it was the same stuff going round. Given that it was the first week I'm sure they'll get that stuff ironed out. Service was very friendly and efficient. Maybe they need more than one person to seat new patrons as people end up stuck in the doorway which keeps <br/>opening. Overall really great meal. Not overpriced. Looking forward to going back again :)

So much fun!. Sush Train was awesome!! It's such a fun and lovely environment, with beautiful views of the water front... Not to mention the food! So good!! <br/>How much can 4 girls eat... 24 plates it was SO good!
