I haven't been here for quite some time so I thought I was about due to have a meal here.
Staff were friendly enough and I decided to go a parma which I hadn't had for awhile. It was served with fries and salad. The food didn't take long to come and was quite delicious. But.......
It did seem like the place could for with a good clean as the first table I came across was quite sticky to the touch. So much so I had to move to another table which seemed to be better, but not by much. Would I go back again? Not sure about that. Doesn't have the same feel it had a few years back.

Great music, good wine, good stout, pub snacks and meals, but please clean the tables properly so that you don't stick to them.

Very average overall I am afraid, tables dirty and sticky. We were there to watch the state of origin NRL match and the bar tender decided to turn the power off to the TV half way through 2nd half and ask us to leave? Very poor customer focus. If you do not want customers to watch the football, don't have it playing. Pretty simple.

Definitely not the pub it used to be, unnecessary aggressive bouncers running around the place, fights everywhere completely killed the vibe!
Much nicer places in North Hobart to go.

I love to go there when its quiet but you never feel pushed to order ...... Love the couch/old mirrors/chandelier corner and the drinks are quite well priced. Happy customer.

Went for the Hobart Jazz festival. This was organised in a professional way. The venue was packed and there was a 50% deal for main meals. Staff are down to earth friendly and really helpful. I highly recommend going here during happy hour.

I usually go here on Sundays and it’s amazing! But I went here on a Wednesday night and got a few drinks 2/5 drinks I purchased had lipstick stains on the glass and all the bartenders had to say was that their dishwasher isn’t the best or oh my gosh!

Loved this place years ago with the local gigs including Leo Decastro and Dutch Tilders - today was terrible - 3 times had to remind staff to serve pre paid and ordered drinks and 60 minute wait for fish and chips - then they tried to blame another team of venue for the delays. Stand up staff and do your job….. grr

Seriously.. best meal ive had in hobart for a while. We ordered the seafood platter for 2, drank red wine and enjoyed the atmosphere.. cheers for the excellent service.

Fathers Day! packed house! Perfect service. Our meals were amazing as always! 10 happy family members able to relax and be satiated too! Huge shout out to the seafood platter for 2! Made my "dads day!" Mum was pretty impressed also!! Rack of lamb special amazing! The Tassie scallops and pork belly special went down beautifully. Otto your service was outstanding as usual. Thanks for a great day Republic bar! The girls that delivered these delicious meals were so very friendly and efficient. There's a very good reason this place is" my local"... Even though we don't live locally. Great atmosphere, fantastic, friendly service. Amazing food. Great beers on tap, so dad tells me... Thanks guys

everytime I go in the staff are so friendly and also professional. Who ever does the hiring does a brilliant job and management must be good too. Happy staff have a good manager. Food is great. Brilliant music, great mix of ages and music tastes. My choice of a local. Hint though: next time if you get our number wrong and give away our pizza and make us wait 45 mins maybe give us a comp drink?

Had great night. Good food and a really swinging jazz quartet only downer was I left my favourite multi coloured woolly scarf on back of chair and someone pinched it. Bought it in Finland so sentimental value big time. Would love to be reunited with it ......

i can not say enough good things about the bar....the bearded licensee is a great bloke ...i asked for a newspaper once but he did not have one, it was very busy at the time and 10mins later he found me and handed me the paper...this says alot about the service....the staff are great on many levels ...the food is great the loo is always clean....u feel like your having a beer with a group of mates...12 stars ...and thats just the staff
