Review Burger Got Soul - Hobart

This place got great selection of burgers and also gluten free bread is so tasty! Lunch deal is so nice 😊

I ordered Beef Soul Burger I was disappointed. The meat was swimming in the mayo and wasn't warm. I would say the e taste is comparable to Hungary Jack's just more expensive and smaller. There are definitely room for improvements. I paid $12.50 per aburger and is not worth it and too heavy in my tummy.. There are better burgers on the market.

I ordered The Illusion (fake chicken burger), the 'meat' was as tough as old boots and swimming in mayo, the toasted bun was good. The other burgers are likely to be much better, but I'd recommend avoiding this one, especially given the high price.

Ordered on the buger got soul website for a 6:30pm pick up and travelled from Howrah because my son really wanted to try the mac and cheese burger, when I arrived at 6:35pm I was informed my order was missed and it had not been prepared. Staff were unapologetic, manager apologised and refunded the transaction.

Best burger in Hobart. All the sides and sauces were perfect. Burgers were juicy, delicious, buns still firm, so tasty.
Suze Peach
Clean, Friendly and Really tasty food. The prices are a little steep on the side dishes is my only problem. The Burgers are Excellent and well worth the $$.... We had 2 burgers and chips for 2 @ just over $50. Enjoyed every bite.
Tanya Curry
Amazing burgers. They are big so have an appetite. Milkshakes look impressive but the cream and decorations on top take up lots of room. The chicken with peanut butter was a huge winner.

I ordered 3 burgers and chips it took 30 min and they forgot one burger do not recommend very disappointed it used to be awesome the lady was very disoriented and bossy

I went to Burger Got Soul with my lovely Wife and I'm impressed. My Wife ordered the special, 3 burger patties, onion rings, cheese and a nice Mayo sauce they use. Hers also came with a nice Pickle on top. I ordered the Soul steak which was a delicious steak burger, they actually know what Medium Rare is my Steak was cooked so perfect I slowly felt the depression settling in as I neared the end of consuming my delicious cattle between two Turkish pieces of bread. We also ordered 2 Milkshakes, she had a Caramel one which is really refreshing and I went with the Chocolate one which had ripple bickies in it, it was perfect. I also ordered a side of chips and they were really good too, the seasoning they used was very tasty and we had them with a sweet chili mayo. They have quite a nice selection of sauces. Overall really impressed and the staff was pleasant, The woman at the register was really informative and took great care of us and the chef can cook a steak and was kind as well. All in all I give this place a 10/10 would Burger again. Cheers!

Good quality burger components and good flavours severely let down by cheap nasty bun. All 4 burgers we ordered fell apart way too fast. A burger should be able to be picked up and eaten with the fingers, not need a knife and fork. A few nigella seeds does not make a "turkish roll", they forgot my pineapple but charged me for it.

My family go to the north hobart store quite often and have never been disappointed. The burgers are the best as are onion rings and chips.couldnt get better service either.my only bad point is PLEASE fix them bloody tables.

Just had the yank tank burger with sweet potato chips and both were to die for. My husband loved his soul steak burger with sweet potato chips too.. Well done, definitely will be back as they were cooked to perfection and well presented at the Devonport store.

My partner and i came into burger got soul North Hobart today at around 3pm. We both got the steak burger and after waiting like, 30-40 minutes we got our meals. Just to say it was packed inside, we got the last inside seats, most people already had there meals apart from a few. We cut our burgers in half the steak would've been lucky to be medium cooked as it was still pink after we asked for well done. To also top that of there was green tomatoes that wasn't ripe on both of the burgers. It was definantly not upto standard with the sandy bay store.

The Birds of a Feather with a schnitzel and some extra charred capsicum is a winner! Chips are super crispy and the chipotle mayo has just a hint of heat to it which goes great with a beer.

With high expectations, i was left with a somewhat sour taste in my mouth after my recent experiance at sandybay. After ordering hawaiin honey and funk south brother dissapointment barely discribes my feelings. The thickeness of the chicken could be meassured in MM and the ratio of bbq sauce was 8:1 thats all i could taste.. The beef patti on the other hand was of a regular thickness.. However... Bland and tasteless ,unseasoned and lacking in any "SOUL". Attempting to cover this inadequacy with copious amounts of sauce failed miserably. Wont be rushing back.

Dear Burger Got Soul, Last night I did an over night shift and came home this morning and slept for 17 hours. After waking up, I was absolutely starving and wanted nothing more in this world than to have a delicious big burger and onion rings from your shop. I did this through Uber Eats and unfortunately got a first time driver who clearly can't use a GPS and made me walk 2 streets down the road in the cold, wet, rain. I was already super unhappy but I just knew that these burgers were going to make me feel happiness again. When I took my first bite, I realised there was no burst of happiness as I desired, but in fact I copped a big mouthful of disappointment. #burgergotnosoul #therewasntevencheese

We went for dinner tonight. Ordered 2 burgers, an onion rings and chips. They both came out around 10 mins before the burgers, but we didnt mind. We live in Melbourne and this place is better than alot of burger places weve been to

Seeing this establishment advertised on TV numerous time, thought we would try. Mustard and pickles burger was yummy

Came into the North Hobart Buger Got Sole on the 18/3 both my partner an i ordered the soul steak after how nice it sounded well we got our meals 30-40mins later it was packed but only a few was waiting on there meals well as we cut the burger in half it would've been lucky to be medium cooked when we asked for well done it was still really pink/tough and fatty steak for the price and to top it off the was also unripe green tomatoes on both burgers would much prefer the extra travel to Sandy bay

My Husband and I had our first burgers at BGS - we had The Original Sin and our daughter, who is a regular got her favourite chicken schnitzel. All I can say is that we will be back - A LOT!!! The burgers were the best I have eaten in years. Great value and nice comfy seating. Loved it!!!
Marissa Brown
Had one of the vegetarian burgers and sweet potato fries. They were awesome. Will definitely be going back.
Mashedpotato
Awful burger. bun was dry, beef was over cooked, cheese not melted. There are plenty of other burger places to eat, I would miss this franchise. Tasted like a fish and chip shop burger, that does burgers on the side as an after thought. Cheap and nasty tasting chocolate shake.

This place is absolutely fantastic! Great, friendly service with generous portions. Unfortunately I was unable to complete my meal because I was so full but you definitely get your money's worth. The food also tastes fresh and absolutely delicious. Would definitely go again if I ever visit Tassie again.

I had to get my burger on while in Tassie staying in the Hobart area and there was a brochure in our AirBNB that proclaimed Burger Got Soul had the "Best Burgers in Tassie." I devoured the FUNK SOUL BROTHER - Double 100% lean beef, bacon, tasty cheddar, egg, smoky BBQ mayo, caramelised onion and relish.
It was quite tasty but sauce heavy for me and I did find the meat a little over-cooked, I did love the caramelised onion and the egg was the winner for me. I liked that you could choose your own buns but overall I wasn't hugely satisfied.
I will give it credit though for the burg looking so bloody sexy and for the venue catering to vegetarians and with plenty of Gluten Free Options.
Sadly mum's lamb burger was a letdown and even though we also smashed their incredibly delish fries we were both unfulfilled after and went out for further snacks. I would compare them to Grill'd from the mainland and if I lived in the area I would return and eat all their burgs - it's very hard to fully judge on one burger smashing when they have so many to offer.
Steve Roy
Solid hamburgers which cater for Vegetarian and hand have GF options. The wasabi mayo is not on the menu anymore but is still available and a must try with the hand cut fries. Service is freindly but be prepared to wait a little for the burgers. Offers a range of local alcoholic beverages all set in a contemporary casual fit out.

Came here with my mate for a late lunch and was not disappointed!!

The staff was friendly and lovely, creating a calm yet fun atmosphere along with the music. Entertaining menu with so many possibilities.

I ordered the Soul Mama and it really hit the spot! Spicy to the right amount, juicy and delicious- very glad I picked it. We also ordered a Body, Mind & Soul and once again it exceeded our expectations.

As a visitor to Tassie, we recommend this epic burger restaurant

Burgers not bad but quite expensive especially with the public holiday surcharge of 15%. Not sure if there is a better place in the area. Chips only average. Nice service though.

To cut or not to cut is the question when it comes to burgers at Burger Got Soul. The burgers are huge! I love the mountain of freshness with my burger (perhaps I am greedy and want to fit in much as I can in a burger). I am a regular here & it is the go-to place if you feel like a good'old fashion burger.

I have tried various burgers but I still go back to the Tassie Tempter, it is my definition of a burger (warning it is hard to eat without the fillings falling out - so not a burger for dainty eaters).

The only downside is the chips - no matter how many times i have ordered them, they are soggy & soft, not very tasty. I have taken 1/2 mark off for that.

The wait for the burgers can be a tad long. But they are being cooked to order so that it is fresh. To avoid the wait, i order ahead for takeaway.

Give it a go when you feel like a satisfying burger.

Great little burger joint nestled within Sandy Bay. Discovered this while working in Tasmania on business and have been going here every time I'm down in Tasmania! The satay burger is my absolute favourite!
Leon Ha
The staff here is so nice and the burger is so delicious!! I ordered the Tassie Temptation and the beef is so juicy and tender! The lettuce around my bunless burger is so crispy and fresh.
Emily
Tasted both the Tassie Tempter and Hawaian Honey with lettuce instead of buns with a side of french fries with Soul Mayo (house mayo)
Really good generous portions. The fries are a must have... especially when they're hot!
However it is abit on the pricey side customer service was not the best ive experienced...and the chicken in the Hawaian Honey burger was a bit overcooked and hard
All in all.. fries definitely must try.. portion wise..very generous but price wise.. abit on the pricey side (compared to other burger joints in Tasmania only) and service wise... sub par at best

Love the burgers here. Service is mostly good. Waiting time can extend past 45 minutes at times. Never been let down with the quality of the food there.

This outlet is by far the most consistent in the state. The lettuce is always fresh and crisp, and the chips - oh gosh, they're to die for - ALL the time. Definitely recommend this joint if you're a fan of burgers. Don't expect the fancy combinations you might get on the mainland (e.g. Pork belly, pulled pork), but for a no-fuss burger, definitely worth a visit.

I didnt really have any kind of expectations on this place. Burger was kinda average and wayyyyyy too many chips. Couldn't even make a dent in those chips. I also found this place a lot pricier to other burger places I've tried I'm Hobart. Bottom line, very average.

Despite having nothing to do but watch the somewhat morose and disinterested counter staff during the 30 minute wait for our burgers, we were reasonably satisfied in the end. Burgers were of generous proportions, although the bun was too light and fluffy to last the distance without disintegrating. Chips were good enough and plentiful (although in deference to those who are making comparisons, they don't even come close to the quality of Grill'd).

Can't say it was the best burger I've ever had, but you could do much worse.

We had read mostly positive reviews and wanted to see what the online-chatter was about. We were fairly hungry when we visited SO we were more than happy with the size of our two burgers - I presume all burgers are larger sizes. The quality of the Salmon meat was high [4.5/5] but my wife wasn't as impressed with the chicken [3/5]. I can fully understand why some people would be unhappy paying the prices for burger only BUT since I'd prefer a large filling burger without chips than being offered some chips [as other cafes/pubs generally do]. It's not my place to tell a business what they should charge. The customers come back or they dont. My wife said she wouldn't go back Because there are "too many other places to try for the first time especially when we were on a holiday" while I would be a little more likely to revist. This might not seem like a glowing review BUT I defiantly don't want it to be taken as "bagging" the business. Rather people should try it for the first time and make their choices about 2nd/more visits.

Best burgers on the south side of Hobart. Great burgers - filling, wholesome & imaginative. Ingredients fresh, wide variety to suit all palates and dietary requirements. Handy to the University, too!
Isubmittocoffee
Tasty burger. Had the mustard and pickles beef burger. Wholemeal bun was yum, salad fresh and pickles crunchy!

Very hyped and the "go-to" place if you want burgers but don't want HJ or McDonalds.
As far as a their burgers go, hard to eat with an average taste. Fries are actually decent and a nice selection of dips to go with them. Service can be very slow at times due to the amount of phone orders they take.

I'm from out of town, saw good reviews here on urbanspoon so decided to give it a go, when I looked at the menu I thought "is this the hobart version of Grill'd just with a defferent name?" Coz the menu is about 80% the same just more expensive. And I found out that's not the case. I had a mustard and pickle burger, the beef pattie looked really flourey...and tasted like that too. Mega disappointed!

Not worth it - a real disappointment. We had looked forward to visiting Burger Got Soul's Hobart location for many months. We were fooled by the hype and came away very disappointed.

On-street parking can be scarce so be prepared for a walk. The shop itself is neat and fairly clean. The person taking orders was either new or clueless, resulting in a painfully long order process.

Orders seem to be prepared in a piecemeal fashion. Our chips (fries) came first, and they were the best part of the meal. The chips come with a tiny bowl of tomato sauce - if you want more be prepared to pay for it.

The "milkshake" was, well, milk. With a lump of ice-cream stuff floating around. And the taste (we had ordered a chocolate shake) was difficult to determine. Not worth the cost - if you want something to drink, grab a soda from the cooler.

The last act in this food-based tragedy was the pair of burgers we had ordered. We are still not sure what was inside of the stale, tasteless buns. The "patties" were more like little hockey pucks. Dry. Hard. With a bizzare flavor that left a lingering and unpleasant aftertaste. Putting some of the tomato paste on the patties only made them seem like some sort of experimental meat-loaf-gone-bad.

Burger Got Soul has a huge menu offering various sorts of burgers made from a wide range of meat-based and vegetarian offerings. And the place is sort of a hipster's refuge. But if your desire is a red-meat burger this place fails to deliver.

Burgers. A terrific experience. Need to make sure you are hungry and will finish the giant burger. We had ordered a vegetarian burger and chips. Could not finish the chips and the burger was very filing. Fantastic to taste.
A must visit. Enjoy!!!!!

Food was so good we ate here twice even tho we were only in Hobart for 4 nights. Wallaby burger was a fave. Teen boys loved the portion sizes.
Sarah Pinto
Delicious burgers and nice crunchy chips. Though very filling if you have both.

Great Veggie Burger!!!. My boyfriend and I come here regually and we love it!
The food is affordable and really tastey. We prefer to just share a burger because they are so huge, I really recommend that! I really love the chips they do, they are the best chips I've ever had!
The service is nice, they are always friendly.
I will be back again!!!!!!!! :)

Overpriced and over-rated. I've never understood the hype of this place. Every time I've tried their beef burgers, the patty has been really dry, tasting like it was consisting mostly of flour or bread crumbs. For the price I would expect a lot better. The often 15+ minute wait time would be acceptable if it tasted like a freshly made burger, however I'm yet to experience this. If this is Hobart's best burger, I'm pretty scared.
On the plus side, the service is always top-notch with very pleasant staff.

Best burgers in Hobart!
Jess
Horrible customer service by the tall girl. Enough to not go back.
Good simple burger though :)

How can you call it CHEAP EATS?. Great Burgers, tasty flavorful and big, chips are not bad but pricey for the portion, but enough as the burgers are huge haha.... My personal favorite is the SOUL MAMA, spicy and just down right yum, my huband likes it too as he is Korean and loves spicy food.

The only quam i have with Burger got soul is the price and they say they use free range chicken and eggs etc I would like to see the proof in that.

,2 meals cost over 30 dollars in total that includes a portion of chips and 2 drinks and 2 sauces costing a dollar each ( i recomend the combo of tomato relish and lime mayo)

Service has always be great and food comes relatively quick...

Here on Urban spoon why is Burger Got Soul classed as cheap eats? but for the quality i am willng to pay.
Evanna Watson
Best burgers. Somewhat expensive, but good quality food. The chips and soul mayo are amazing. Wait time can sometimes be a bit long though. Nonetheless I will be back.
Nick Lalic
Burgers are great, big, tasty & fresh.
Jessy Saville
Great burger joint. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Chicken burgers are great, beef burgers are lacking a little. Would recommend the Breezy Brie burger. Chips do not disappoint. Atmosphere needs some attention.

Just like Grill'd - Except with an extra $3 on the price. For those who've lived on the mainland, you might be familiar with Grill'd. Well guess what - Burger Got Soul is almost exactly like Grill'd in every way - Same appearance, same decor, and same decent, good tasting burgers.

Except... the difference is in the name and the prices - unfortunately everything on the menu is $3 more expensive than what those in Melbourne/Sydney etc will be used to with Grill'd.

But hey - I suppose having $3 added to the price is unfortunately the story with all food down here in Hobart - sigh!
Anna.e.nicholls
The menu here is extensive, with many choices to suit, including vegetarian. The only thing that I found disappointing about their menu range is it stops at beef, chicken and lamb, without any fish or game options. I had a Summer Sun burger, which I definitely enjoyed out in the summer sun. Made from Tasmanian beef, It was very filling and all ingredients were fresh, including a generous layer of ripe avocado. There is room to improve, with an extras list, and I decided to add a dill pickle to invoke that classic burger taste. Those who are used to fast foo
Fork And Foot (formerly Two Clowns Tripping)
So overall I was pretty happy with the meal, but for $13.50 I was expecting much better.
Too Many Pies
A uniquely Tasmanian burger store (with a sister restaurant in Launceston), Hobart's Burger Got Soul offers a great range of tasty burgers that certainly satisfy. Somewhat similar to mainland chain Grill'd they offer diners a choice of Wholemeal, Turkish, White or Gluten Free buns and promote that their burgers use quality ingredients (presumably aimed at those looking for a healthy alternative to some other take away).
The Burger Adventure
If you’re after a cheeky burger in Hobart, most will tell you that Burger Got Soul is the place to be. Even before they opened up their Hobart branch, Tasmanians would’ve told you that the original in Launceston was well worth a visit. Family friendly and catering to everyone’s tastebuds, they offer an extensive burger list that is made up of over 30 burgers options with beef, chicken, lamb and veggie. There’s burger inspired free-hand art on the walls, friendly, enthusiastic staff and an all-round relaxed atmosphere at Burger Got Soul. After trying to work out exactly what I’d order I decided to go for their name sake and tried the Soul Burger that comes on your choice of bun (I went Traditional) with 100% lean beef, lettuce, tomato, relish, soul mayo and tasty cheese.
