Review Post Street Social - Hobart

Ordinary .. very Ordinary. Two stars is being generous. Food wasn't even hot. At first we thought it had come out if a microwave... but the temperature was pretty consistent throughout... all luke warm at best. The chicken wasn't crunchy and the dressing made it even more soggy. The lamb was just mush, cold and just not enjoyable. Staff... need some serious training, even given the current circumstances we all know about finding good staff, it's no excuse. I'm sitting with a drink in front of me... my wife waiting with nothing in front of her and he (Lightning McBartender) bolts in out of nowhere like the building is on fire and drops the drink in front of me without even a glance or collecting anything (including the order number flag) on his way through. Next thing you know they are out of flags and need to do a quick gather up. Given so many food choices in the area... you need to lift your game. If you were understaffed, understand this, but don't go and put live music on your deck to entice people in. Worst meal (snack, as we didn't even eat it all) we have had in Hobart.

The vibe was good due to the guy singing and playing his music, but would not advise to eat there if your expectations are to have a nice meal. Food was very poor. Chicken was dry, chips cold and one meal and drink was missed. We should have read the reviews first before making this choice to dine there.

While the tacos we had were absolutly delicious and the mocktails were really nice. Once nighttime comes, the loudest and most obnoxious music gets blasted in your ears which makes you want to escape the bar.

A great place to enjoy a pub meal. Large outdoor area with water views, fresh air (and heaters for those cold days). I got the chicken parmigiana and loved it. Generous size, moist and packed full of flavour. Came with salad and chips.

Great position with nice views over the pier. We sat outside underneath the heaters and enjoyed our drinks and pork crackling which was pretty cool. Good place to chill and people watch.

Tasty and fresh food! The bar/restaurant itself is lovely and cosy with a great outdoor area overlooking the harbour. Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly which is apparently very hard to come by these days! Definitely recommend.

Came in tonight excited to try the food and left immediately because of the overwhelming smell of urine. Maybe that’s why it was empty?

Ordered a couple of the taco's (lamb and battered fish) both came out on stale tortilla's and were lukewarm at best, a very unenjoyable dining experience with so much dining competition around the establishment.

We had a good time and the food & drinks were good, and the staff friendly. However just as we were paying, I realised I forgot to mention that we had an entertainment book, but they said that as the payment had already gone through that they couldn't do anything. I found that very strange given that in situations in the past where I have forgotten the book or card, the restaurant or cafe has usually been really good about it (Sapa Rose being one example), and in some cases I have been able to go back the next day or even several days later and they have reimbursed me the difference. Considering that it was about $20 that would have been taken off the bill, I was pretty annoyed and it put a bit of a dampener on the evening. It would probably be the main reason we haven't been back, as much as I liked the venue.

Great location and atmosphere. This summer we have lunched outside and last weekend enjoyed drinks with visitors inside. Such a fantastic vibe with this venue, friendliest staff and great service. Highly recommend whatever the occasion! We will be back!

A friend who was visiting really wanted to check out the Hobart water front. After wondering around a bit we liked the look of the Post Street, Clean, Vibrant, Energized and not to crowed. Oh boy!! What an experience, the staff we talked were extremely friendly and the most professional I've ever experienced. The food was amazing and honestly the 'helpings' were enough to feed an entire army. All in all my experience at the Post Street Social was great, It shall now become my local watering hole.

Awesome vibe, fantastic warm friendly staff, possibly the best music ever!

Had a fantastic late lunch. Calamari was cooked to perfection and the beef burger was juicy. All freshly prepared Staff were friendly and welcoming. Only miss was the wine which was poor.

Great location with a very stylish and modern interior and friendly staff. However the meal portions were very small which was very disappointing. I am not a big eater but after eating the soft shell crab I was still very hungry. I was with three others who also ordered the crab and they were still hungry also, as was the other person who ordered the pork belly.

Held a birthday party there on saturday night.....impressed with how helpful the staff were and what a great night.

We would give a quarter of a star at that. The food was tasteless & slopped together. Prisoners would get fed better than what they serve there. Definitely no love on those plates, I would go so far to say bitter resentment

My First time in Hobart. What a Great town. And what a lovely relaxed establishment. Excellent location, amazing staff, nice cold beer, and the food is to die for. Try the Spring Bay Mussels, and thank me later. :-)

Great staff, good food, but for New Year's Eve music was horrible !! Never again

Great spot for an after work drink! Beautiful glassware (little things make a big difference) We grabbed a cheese platter to go along and selection of cheeses satisfied all and condiments that went along were a surprising treat! Service was helpful and prompt! Thanks for a lovely end to a day!

We had the social lunch and it was absolutely fabulous. Visiting from Victoria I would highly recommend a visit to this place. Very yummy.

Post Street Social is one of the place that makes Hobart CBD “alive”, literally. As most of the restaurants close early, we decided to stop by this bar/restaurant.

We had deep fried calamari, Korean fried chicken with cumin, and chicken burger. Like most of the food I’ve tried in Tassie, the food here were also mediocre and expensive.

Service was indifferent. If I were the owner, I’d make sure my customers, especially the tourists, have the best impression of my business so that they could return. Well, not in this case. We were politely urged to “have the last bit of our food” so the waiter could clear out the table.

Stopped by here for some evening drinks as most places seemed to be closed on this public holiday evening! It’s located on Franklin Wharf and has some nice views from the wharf to the water.

As we’re in Hobart, it’s all about the whisky and gin. In our case Gin & Tonics as well as Lemon, Lime & Bitters. Order up at the bar and find yourself a seat to enjoy the drinks at. Service is friendly and drinks made well so we were happy campers. There is indoor and outdoor seating but since it was a lovely night, we chose to sit outdoors.

Good spot for a beer. Not food though. Had a group that sampled most things on the food menu. Most things were actually inedible and we left most of it on the table and went and got something else despite being very hungry. Honestly don't eat here. Every single place within walking distance is better

A bar. A location. And surprisingly good food.

We ate here in a rush. Almost deserted when we got here on a cold and wet Monday night. But got busier later. They have spent a lot of $ on the fit out and it deserves to succeed. The menu is designed around sharing. Staff really very good and happy to discuss beer recommendations and the bar food. We had Pork Bao ( spicy, tender pork and very delicate buns), Pot stickers ( served on a crisp batter pancake which tastes better than it sounds ), Green beans with spicy pork
Mince ( vaguely Szechuan and a big hit) and some deep fried Calamari ( ok but screaming out for some aioli ).

Cost was $100 for 2 including a couple of pints of cold pale ale.
