Review Rude Boy - Hobart

came at 6 without a reservation but they seated us as long as we could finish by 6:45 took quite a bit to get someone’s attention to order and the food took ages. definitely make a reservation if you’re keen to come and prepare to wait for your food. cocktails were nice and decently priced during happy hour. chicken is amazing. got 2 10 oz servings bone-in, salt & pepper + gravy and hot + garlic ranch. both were tender & juicy, superb.

Really cool venue in midtown offering boneless chicken and drinks. The toilets…wow! My cocktail was fabulous, and the menu layout is great. My chicken was dry and unlike all the boneless chicken I’ve had before. The sauce helped a lot. The corn side was tasty and juicy. Service wasn’t awesome but it did feel as though the team was understaffed for an unexpected busy lunchtime shift…

Top 3 must eat spots in Hobart. What a shame that we only found out about third on our last day of the trip. I’d give this spot 6 out of 5 if I could. The absolute best fried chicken I have ever had in any restaurant ever and that slaw. The cocktails were spot on and the their smokey take on the classic pina colada was amazing. Over the top theatrics (which I absolutely loved) and such a balance of flavour wow. Kudos to the guys behind the bar. What a spot.

If I could six star this place, I would. Succulent, juicy chicken perfectly coated with a thin, gold and crispy armour of batter made for one perfect bite after another (the "Almost Whole Bird" option is pictured here). We couldn't get enough of it and ordered extra Spicy boneless chicken breast bites with Rum BBQ sauce - an absolute banger of a choice , with the spicy coating and tangy-sweet bbq making for a sweet little dance of flavour. The sides were also spectacular - nicely grilled, buttered corn kernels plus crispy-out and tender in sweet potato fries to round out our fowl-mouthed dinner. Would definitely recommend a try (and many more)!

Maybe it’s the dark & stormy talking but damn that chicken burger was good. For $16, I’m so full! :) delishhhh Also super calming sensory toilets and fun atmosphere

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious cocktails and chicken with sauces to die for…what more could you want? If we lived near here, we would eat here way too often!

A beautiful space and helpful friendly staff. Love the cocktail list but a little on the steep side. Fried chicken is delicious and great options on sauces and sides! Will definitely return, love the vibe

So good to see North Hobart stealing the spotlight from the waterfront! Amazing food, cocktails off tap to die for (I could have had more and more of that delicious Rum Groni) and friendly and attentive staff. Couldn't ask for much more but the decor sets a funky vibe and we found it the perfect place for a girls night out mid week. Keep up the good work guys �

Delightful Caribbean inspired bar that constantly yields surprises - from bathrooms that offer subtle tropical bird noises to French fries with generous lashes of home made seasoning, or delicately crafted soda that graces the extensive, authentic and creative cocktail list. Whatever your style this place welcomes you in, gobbles you up in its goodness and leaves you feeling fuller in all respects.

A great place for young and old to meet enbibe , Libate and take in the atmosphere ! Excellent hard working staff and great menu and drinks selection. Another fine addition to the Elizabeth street cuisine culture.

Just amazing. Great recommendation from our wonderful waitress at Franklin. Loved the support for each other's venues. Delicious food and tasty beverages. Bar staff have extensive knowledge and acceptable banter value � Well worth a try.

The food was great, which is the only reason I've given you a 2 and not a 1. Customer service, non existent. I had booked a table for 11 people. I was told at the time of the booking that they would be able to accommodate for a group that size, only to arrive on the night to be sat at a table big enough for 8 people at max. Thankfully a few of the guests could not make it which meant we were then not so squashed together. Once we were seated a female waitress came over to ask if we would like to order some drinks, to which we replied yes. Said waitress then walked off without taking our drinks order. We finally managed to get some drinks, however apparently supplying straws for cocktails in tall glasses is an issue. When we asked for some straws the waitress advised she would have to "check if they have any available". We ordered our food, thankfully this was an easy process and food was brought to our table in a timely manner. However the waitress only supplied us with enough plates and cutlery for 6 people. We then asked for some more cutlery which again seemed to be such an issue for the waitress to sort out. No sooner had we finished our meals, we were very quickly rushed off the table as they had another booking to fit in. We then went to the bar to pay for our bill, only to be told that we still owed $80 in drinks that we had already paid for. We were made out to be liars by the staff, until we all took our receipts out, added up the total and in fact it worked out that we had paid $4 more than the total bill came to. Still, the staff insisted we owed $80 (because apparently you employ staff who can't use a calculator) we then had to add our receipts up in front of your staff to prove that we had in fact paid for all our meals and drinks, including $4 more than we needed to and that we did not owe $80 more. This was my first time at Rude Boy and most definitely the last. Such a pity as the food was great, but your lack of customer service completed ruined the experience for us all.

Loved the food and all things alcoholic. The were staff were lovely and I know this is weird I loved the toilet �bird noises in there and tropical stuff in there �

The food was fine, small dishes though. Waitresses were awful and made us feel as though they wanted us out as soon as possible even though we had a booking. Booked for 12 but was given a booth that would fit 8 at most. Very unhappy. Especially because it was for a friends bithday. Would not recommend.

Rude Boy was a very enjoyable experience. Great quirky decor, different seating arrangements to suit everyone's needs. Friendly, efficient staff , tasty food options and a varied drinks menu.
