Review Frankies Empire Coffee House - Hobart

Katie Henderson
Good staff, alright food. Excellent allergy options. Life drawing classes and art shows regularly. A little bit of a weird vibe. Would be good to offer more of a tappas option and specialise instead of branching to do everything.

Best Cafe in town. Bill Longo on piano is a treat. Cheap, fresh food that's very tasty. Lots of vegan/vegetarian and GF options. Edit: RIP. Edit 2: RIP Frankie's not Bill Longo (that cat is still kicking it in South East Asia)

Fantastic food with awesome pakhoras and curries on a monthly rotation. Friendly staff, vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options, and a monthly art exhibition. Worth checking out.

Fab, actually Had the red lentil soup and shared a veggie fritter. Both top notch :) Also, our octogenarian companion rated the tea as 'best she has ever had in a restaurant' Brillo folks!

I followed a lead for gluten-free food from Lonely Planet and was pleased with my experience at Frankie's Empire. I had a gluten-free, dairy-free cardamon and rose water biscuit and soy latte. It was a wonderful combination. I never had cookies with spices like that before, apparently it is an Iranian cookie. Very yum.

More over, I loved the jazz music. It really brought something unique to the cozy cafe.

Frankie's Empire is featured in a picture blog post of traveling and eating gluten-free food in Hobart and Surrounds. Nonexistent service We walk.... Nonexistent service
We walk in to be greeted by the most grudging hello I have received, 8th noted in favour of a mate and a chat about a gig and then ignored as we left. I would like to review the food and coffee but I can't as we weren't offered any.
No surprise it was empty.

Love this place. It's so rare and so nice to find a cafe where the owners seem part of a strong community and know how to create a comfortable and welcoming space. The ginger/molasses cake was surprisingly moist, light and delicious. Buckwheat crepes with mushrooms also very nice. It's easy to see this is food cooked with skill but also to nourish body and soul. I Like the music selection, art on the walls and child friendliness. Babycino is best in Hobart for sure. Thanks Frankie's.
