I have been to New Kum Den a few times and each time the food has been great! The restaurant is clean and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend, everything on the menu is yum!
Wandered into New Kum Den on a Sunday night. The dining room is nice, well lit and clean. The front of house was friendly. Being off little Bourke St it is a little less busy so getting a seat was easy.
Food was very good. The 3 dishes tried of Prawns with Snow Peas, Salt & Pepper Pork Ribs and Duck fried rice were all excellent. The impression left is the food is fresh, well cooked and tasty.
The Duck fried rice in particular was a stand out, plenty of shredded duck meat and some spicy XO Sauce.
Highly recommended, sadly though there is no Hong Kong style Roast Pork :-(
Hidden away in a street off Chinatown's little bourke St is this authentic Chinese restaurant serving up your regular dishes with quality produce. We came here for a birthday dinner with 11 and ordered mud crabs with ginger and garlic with saucy egg noodles.
The eggplant with minced meat was perfect, beef with black bean sauce, crispy duck, seasonal vegetables were all delicious and cooked very well.
The establishment also provided complimentary black sesame soup with 'tang yuan' for dessert which was very nice of them.
Great service and would come back with a big group.
Always enjoy heading out with friends for some casual and authentic Cantonese. Wait staff are super friendly and always have a smile. The food is a good honest representation and never disappoints. Highly recommend their versions of Peking Duck and Xiao Long Bao - fantastic!
One of my local fav, spacious and big portions with great flavours. It’s a hidden gem given it’s in a side street. Definitely worth the visit.
Nice place for Chinese dishes. Love the sweet and sour pork as it is a traditional dish my family would order. Near the place where I used to go for lion dance training in Chinatown.
Very attentive n friendly staff to start off with my meal. Ordered a banquet a with my friend. The taste are amazing. Took me a while to find this place. Pricing? Not too cosy, affordable price. Ambience was nice as well. Definitely will be back for more.
This place is hidden in the Chinatown. Been here quite a few times. We usually order BBQ meat rice for quick lunch. Varieties of dish options for dinner, love their clay pot series. Food are always freshly cooked and delicious. One of My top 5 list in Chinatown.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.

Friendly staff, vegetarian menu available, the staff were helpful willing to discuss other vegetarian options with chef. Fry ice cream is tasty. Good experience.
One of the reliable spots to grab some Chinese lunch in a spacious restaurant, clean outfit and proper tea service.
Enticed by the hanging roast meats my friend helped himself to some roast pork and BBQ ribs that of which he enjoyed. I had enough roast meats in the past week and was craving something salty and fried, salt and pepper chicken ribs. Plenty of meat on the juicy ribs as well as garnishings of fried shallots, peppers and onion. A nice salty and spicy treat.
It's not a place that sees much foot traffic like on Little Bourke Street but still manages to attract some loyal customers.
