We came here for our last meal before Melbourne was locked down again. We were running a bit late but the staff were very accommodating and allowed us to stay past 3pm (closing time).
We ordered the beef set with the kimchi pork stew and added a side of marinated pork as well as the soy garlic fried chicken. All of the food was delicious! We loved the variety of side dishes - there aren't many Korean BBQ restaurants that offer this much variety and they were all really nice to try. The meat was so tender and they were quite generous portions as well. The fried chicken was also so tender and flavourful! My friend and I both agreed that the kimchi stew was the best we've ever had, it was really flavourful and had the perfect amount of spice and paired delightfully with a side of rice.
We left feeling very full and satisfied. It only cost $60 each as well, which we thought was very reasonable for the amount of food we got! We will definitely be back!
Loved the extensive meat selection on the menu here. Various and generous serving of condiments to go with the bbq which I loved.
Staff are very friendly and helpful!
We went with a meal set which provided all sorts of meat and hotpot and it surely satisfied all 3 of us! Really loved the beef!
4.0 Very Good
We arrived at 6pm and it was still relatively quiet, as a result we had excellent table service throughout the night and didn’t do the cooking once.
The spread of banchan is impressive, 11 small plates to pick at between bites. My favourites were the pickles of radish and onion, pa muchim (scallion salad) and of course kimchi.
Main focus was KBBQ where they use a mixture of gas and coal to impart on the meat. They used a thin mesh for the beef cube roll (scotch fillet) which is the best cut we had that night with its high content of fat, just a small dab of salt and you’re good to go. We also had unseasoned ox tongue which had a nice chew to it and plain pork belly, I do wish that we were given more lettuce (and larger ones) and condiments (such as garlic and chilli) for our ssam (wraps).
The marinated beef short ribs and marinated pork had a similar flavour profile, sweet and salty. Went well with the plain rice as the flavours were quite strong. It may have been better if they put the pork in a chilli marinade to give the meal set more variance.
We also shared some bu dae tang which I’m guessing is Korean army stew which consisted of a lot processed and packaged items such as spam, sausages, baked beans, ramen and tasty cheese. The ramen and cheese combo always delivers and I’m tempted to start doing this at home to my Shin Ramen! We did leave it on boil for quite awhile and it did get a little saltier than intended, oops.
A few things I’d tweak as mentioned above but overall a solid KBBQ spot. I left with barely any BBQ smell on my clothes so that was a bonus. If you want exceptional service, come early!
