Good place to enjoy a big family dinner with close friends. Tasty soup and fantastic selection of seafood. Recommend to go in a big group to choose as many ingredients as possible. Service could be better though.
Nice experience. Really elegant place for meeting friends. Decent waiters. And the foods are above normal standard. Best to try their 油条 super delicious!!
Fantastic time. First time going to this hot pot place with some friends had never been to one before and we were not disappointed. It was fantastic. The food was fresh and it offered a vegetarian soup base. The staff were friendly, fast and helpful. I'd forgotten my Cardigan and they chased after us to return it. The food is pricy but well worth it, quality over quantity. I'm certainly going to be coming back and again and I can't stop raving about it to my friends.
Yummy food, but bad customer service. I love eating hot pot here, as it's so comfortable on the private booths with the couches and beautiful decorations. The food is great, with lots of variety and thankfully it's fresh too. There does become an issue when communicating with staff as they can not understand english very well, and might miss things or make mistakes. But other than that the food is still very lovely and just remember that to be patient while your cooking your food!
Absolutely amazing hotpot! Especially the pork bone soup base was just lovely!
Overall, if given the choice, I'd probably veer towards all you can eat hotpot's as they range from $25-$30 with pretty much the same selection. However, the quality and presentation of meats and vegetables did seem a lot cleaner at Flavour Town, but given its price tag - expect to pay $40-$45 pp, I would expect no less. Be careful with the order forms as its so easy to get carried away!
A different way to have an evening meal. One of the things that I love about going out to meals with friends is that they end up taking you to places where you normally would not go, and this certainly is one of those places. Mind you this place is not the type of restaurant that you would generally go by yourself simply because of the way they serve the food.
First you order a broth, which is put into a stove on the table and heated until it is simmering. You then order a number of uncooked dishes, namely meat and vegetables (and you can also have dumplings) and you put them into the broth. Once they have boiled quite nicely you remove them with your chopsticks (if that is a way you enjoy eating – which I do – otherwise you have other implements to enable you to get the food out of the boiling soup) and proceed to eat.
There is one warning that I should pass on though. If you like spicy food you better be prepared for some really, really, hot broth, because when they advise you that the spicy broth is mild, that means that it is the upper end of mild. If you go for the super heavy spicy then be prepared to for a broth that makes beef vindaloo seem mild in comparison.
Absolute my taste. This Hotpot place is so nice!! I went there with a group of 8, we're all very satisfied. From the environment to the foods and the service we are very impressed (because the tiny entrance I wouldn't expected too much but I was wrong). I'm a big fan of hotpot and I absolutely love this restaurant! Fresh veggies lean meats. Better than most other szechuan hotpot places in melbourne. Definitely will go back again.
Best hot pot in town!. First discovered this place through the purchase of a Scoopon. This was one of the best and most unique experiences!!! If you are new to hot pot, ask for help - they will explain it, don't know what these other reviews are talking about. For those with iron guts, must try the szechuan soup base for the hot pot, absolutely delicious!!!! Only negative is that when you order your plates of meat and vegies, they usually tend to forget to bring out things you have ordered, so double check.
Hot to trot pot. The place was starting to get a little busy as we sat down for our Saturday evening booking. The décor was great with booths and also round tables for large gatherings. The waitresses seemed attentive at first but we lost her attention as the place got busier. The Spicy Szechuan broth was oh so spicy (but I loved it!). The other members of our part found it a bit too hot until later in the game when it mellowed out a bit after some diluting and flavour mixing. As long as you do not mind crunching on the Sichuan peppercorns and numbing out your mouth you will be ok. The Pork Bone broth was in contrast very bland to begin with but as the flavours combined it became quite tasty and definitely recommended for all palettes. We had a variety of meats seafood and veg to add to the pot and these went down really well. Don’t let the razor thin meat slices boil for too long in the pot otherwise you’re in for some chewy fare. The dumplings (although suspiciously store bought) went down a treat once boiled in the different broths. The entire meal cost just over $100 and all appetites were well satisfied. The down side was the service. Definitely a lack in communication somewhere as we waited ages for rice and only when we asked about it we were told they had run out of rice for the night. We asked for forks but were told that they ran out of them too, a dessert fork had to suffice (miserably). The manager apologised for the lack of service and said they will work on it. Overall flavour town packs a good hotpot. If they step up their service then they are sure to be a winner.
