Review Manjits Wharf - Sydney

Manoranjan Sahoo
This place and food is great ! Went for a dinner on a winter weekend...the ambience was chill, charming and very welcoming. Staffs are extremely hospitable and knowledgable that they literally come and ask you time to time "how is everything"...that was amazing...all the food and drinks from wide range of menu were luscious...Bamboo Biriyani is speciality of this restaurant and a must try...Overall this has now become one of my most favourite Indian restaurant in Sydney...! 🙂

Perfectly located Staff is very professional and polite Food is not extra ordinary in taste but presentation is good A bit expensive (maybe due to the location) Prior booking is recommended else you will have to wait. Good to try once.

Amazing food & mocktails. The drink we tried were something new & refreshing. The service was also very good. Both the entrĂ©e & main course was amazing. We had Rajasthani Kadhi Pakora & I must say it was so delicious & have never had anything close to this before. The only turn off for us was that the view we read a lot about in other reviews, we didn’t get to experience that. The blinds were shut for some reason which didn’t make sense as tue weather was beautiful. Also, I understand they are not obligated to do it but I read a few other reviews where they took extra efforts for someone’s special occasion, which was no close to what we experienced. Even after mentioning that it was our anniversary, no extra efforts made. Well, either you should do for all or not to at all. Would definitely not like to be discriminated like this???🙄 Regardless of this, we would be definitely visiting this place over & again to taste Rajasthani Kadhi Pakoras. Compliments to the chef đŸ‘šđŸœâ€đŸł Second Visit: One of the worst momos I had so far. And I would agree to a few of the reviewers who have mentioned about small portions & very high price. I never knew that dinner for two would cost a freaking $100 đŸ€«Okay it is a fine dine restaurant, but atleast the portion should be sufficient for the price you pay. I can guarantee that one curry will not be sufficient for two. Also, how can small 4 pieces of momos (which tasted pathetic) could cost $19??? Naan portion is very small too so you have to order more. I’ll say that this place is not for making a name for fine dine Indian restaurant, only for business. Once again
.DISAPPOINTED!!!

Some outstanding Indian food with excellent service and great water views over King Street Wharf. True fine dining restaurant. This is the 2nd time I have been to Manjits and highly recommend this restaurant.

I have a new found appreciation for every indian restaurant after visiting this place. Abhis is better than this place. This place gives fine dining food a bad name- everythings small, bland, boring and overpriced. I am here on my birthday and tbh besides the view and ambience everything else is awful. the food, service and drinks are basic. Please save your money. Zaffran is good if you in the harbour area. Other good places are dosa hut, chatkaz and taj. Even abhis is better. I saying this as a desi person to other desis or other people who want authetic good real food and want quality. I attached receipt as proof i went.let me give break down of the food: lasis got colored water, yoghurt and not much mango. Bland. Main dish was paneer with popcorn piece blobs in there and the latcha parata's are just plain rotis plain personally my rotis are nicer. And the naans are small super basic. Omg and the entree was baby size 3 mushrooms and with teaspoon of cheese/corn in each one with some peri peri sauce. Omg not worth the money. Even i could get a jetstar flight and go to a resturant with a beautiful view. Save your money. Save your time and your energy. Especially when it is special event my entire birthday lunch was awful. The goods not sharable for 2-3 people at all and thats only reason why finished. Everyone deserves better. Also the management and some of the people around are so so snooty and play politics which is awful as they do not want to serve proper, delicious and good quality good food. They also dont want to serve everyone quickly only some and the owner/management says hello to some not to others

The service wasn’t great. We found it hard to get service, we had to ask for water and knife and forks. It wasn’t busy so I’m not sure why, they also had a lot of staff. My wife loved her food, mine was ok. My potatoes tasted reheated and I couldn’t eat them. I didn’t think it was value for money.

Had delivery. Was absolutely terrible. My review seems to have been removed so here I am again to rewrite about how bad my experience was. Sent us three rice dishes and NO naans when ordered one rice, two naans, butter chicken and entrees. Butter chicken was not butter chicken. Literally the worst Indian food I have ever had and I've had ALOT of Indian food. I am a Platinum UberEats user and this was hands down the worse food I've received in my 5 years of using UberEats while living in the Sydney CBD. Got an instant refund from UberEats. Stay away... terrible food, dishes changed to rice with no explanation or compensation, and the actual dish that arrived was so bad we threw it out and got McDonalds instead. Thanks for a terrible experience.

I had a very unpleasant experience, resulting in lost time and money for an order I had booked 2 weeks in advance. <br/><br/>I placed my order at the Concord branch. When I came to pick up the order, it was clear they had no idea about it. The manager was able to arrange to fill the order but I was told that I would need to go their darling harbour branch to pick it up. Since I was in an emergency situation with guests waiting at home, I didn't really have a choice. When I got there, they told me they were still preparing my order, so I was forced to wait around the corner for 15 minutes as they finished preparing everything. I got home an hour and a half later than expected to hungry guests.<br/><br/>The kicker were the ridiculously small quantities they had provided. I had ordered 2 of their largest banquets (each serving 9 people) and received 4 Dil Bhar Tikka, 6 Fish Amritsari, and 6 Hal Lamb Dish Kebab for entrees - see the attached photo - that's it for 18 people... At best, the quantity was sufficient for 12-14 people. I had to go out and buy biryani from another store to make up for this.<br/><br/>The whole ordeal created a stressful situation for me as I ended up missing half my party running around trying to get food I had booked two weeks in advance and in the end had to buy extra food from another restaurant - wasting even more time and money.

Absolutely blown away by this restaurant! I’ve dined many times in Barangaroo, and have always had a disappointing experience. But my first incredible dining experience in Barangaroo was at Manjits Wharf. Everything from the interior, the delicious food, and the impeccable service was outstanding. It was a cold day and we were sitting by the windows and our server brought us a portable heater without me having to even ask or comment on how cold it was! They absolutely go above and beyond. <br/>We ordered the Signature Barrah Kebabs (lamb cutlets), Amritsari Machli (fried fish fillets), the Butter Chicken, the Signature Baingan Takatak (smoking eggplant curry), Indian summer cocktail, Floral Delight cocktail, the Kaala Jamun (Indian donuts) and the Rasmalai (milk dumplings). Everything was delicious, but my favourites were the lamb cutlets, the Butter Chicken, the Floral Delight cocktail and the Indian donuts.

Manjits @ The Wharf was one of the shortlisted restaurants when we were planning our road trip to Sydney late last year. This has been a place I had heard much about and I was excited to have my first experience of Indian food in Sydney. We particularly chose The Wharf location, for its ambience. Unfortunately for us, it was an unusually windy night so couldn’t be seated outside overlooking the harbour. But nevertheless, the views from the windows too were spectacular.

I love good quality Indian food and this place definitely delivers! Not only does this restaurant have a beautiful setting over looking King Street wharf, each dish is so beautifully presented, reminiscent of artwork with the use of palette like plates & splashes of colour from the sauces. There are so many delicious sounding dishes & it was hard to decide but every entree I ordered were delicious mouthfuls revving up your appetite. These dishes are small compared with the heavier, more generous main dishes which were such a highlight! The lamb shoulder curry was fork tender with a deep, earthy flavour. Utterly delicious. The Butter chicken had a rich, slightly spicy sauce & the tender, chunky pieces of chicken had a beautiful orange ring around it from cooking in the tandoor oven. The naan is so light & fluffy its easy to devour it on its own & I had to order it twice as it was so good! The Indian donuts with rose ice cream for dessert is delicious and super sweet. Loved the mango lassi here which is thick, creamy & pretty and a wine list with a great selection & prices was easy to choose from. To top it off the service was so friendly & attentive. Highly enjoyable!

Indian cuisine but not as you know it. The decor is beautiful with amazing 180 degrees water view at King Street Wharf. <br/>We spent a very enjoyable afternoon here as guests for lunch, tasting some delicious traditional dishes such as their curries (prawn malabari and butter chicken) as well as some dishes with a more modern ‘Manjit’ twist on classics, we left the decision making to the staff who were friendly and helpful.<br/>Our favourites were their modern dishes such as their layered lamb and chicken mince kebab with spices cooked in their charcoal tandoori oven and pyaaj ka phool (onion flower coated in chickpea flour topped with colourful dips) which I highly recommend. <br/>Their mocktails were also fantastic and great with the food on a hot day. Great experience, we would love to come again with a group of friends and try their banquet menu next time.

Being in Australia was so so so much fun, be it beaches , nightlife, countryside , amusement parks and specially INDIAN FOOD. We all long for delicious Indian food while travelling abroad @Manjits was a gem for a person like me who cant stay without roti sabzi. Having the view by darling harbor was a reat in itself. The ambiance was decent and staff was courteous and very helpful. So we ordered Cheese naan, garlic naan on special request , paneer spicey sabzi and few starters. One thing that every Indian restaurant should offer is masala papad..like this is too basic and a must have in the menu!!<br/><br/>This place is extremely famous for non-veg food too and have also heard its too delicious to miss out onn! Such an authentic Indian fine dining experience we had.
The RnB Diary
For a very long time, my culinary knowledge of Indian cuisine was limited to one dish – butter chicken.  I simply couldn’t get enough of that buttery sauce of cream, tomatoes and spices. That was one of the reasons we decided to visit Manjits in King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour.

We had a very unpleasant experience here. It was our anniversary and because we had our parents with us, decided to go Indian and selected this place for the view and the supposed quality of the food. It was a disappointment in all ways. We were kept waiting at our table for long uncomfortable gaps and there was no way to alert the staff who totally forgot about us, causing a long wait between placing the order and receiving the food. No one bothered to explain the dishes, were impatient when we asked a few questions and made us feel extremely unwelcome. The food was a total disappointment , under salted, bland and lacking flavour. Orders were taken incorrectly, leaving half of the table waiting for their rotis while the curries were rapidly cooling down. It was an unpleasant, disappointing experience and we did not feel justified to pay the price we did for such terrible service.
Dashmit Aurora
Had heard a lot about this restaurant, however, it did not live up to its high expectations. The food is way overpriced for its location prices...We have gone next door to Malaya, which is same area but much better value for money. The food also was nothing great and the serving were very small. Would not recommend for a group outing...

Located in King Street Wharf, this venue offers modern and exotic Indian cuisine.<br/>The place is stunning with elegant decor throughout. With a spacious seating area, the place can easily accomodate large groups of people. <br/>Every dish I tried was superb. Plated beautifully and packed with wonderful flavours. I love how aromatic their dishes were.<br/>My favourites from my recent visit:<br/>Gol Gol Gappa (crisp pastry) <br/>Tandoori Roasted Pappadums<br/>Coni Papdi with Tamarind Sorbet<br/>Pyaaj ka Phool (bloom onion)<br/>Prawn Pakora<br/>Kashmiri Chicken<br/>Imli Baingan (eggplant)<br/>The Disputed Duck Curry<br/>Mango Pistachio Kulfi<br/>And for the drinks I tried Paprika Spritz and Watetmelon Sharbat mocktails. Both drinks were so good and refreshing!<br/>Highly recommend.

The food was amazing - particularly loved the chicken tikka masala! The right amount of spicy and beautiful flavours. The service was also really friendly and accommodating. The harbour views were also a plus. Would definitely recommend visiting!

This is one amazing Indian restaurant. The view over Darling harbour is perfect for a beautiful evening! The ambience is real nice. We were a group of 6 people and treated really well. The staff definitely is good here! This place likes to experiment a lot , we ordered simple dishes but they all had amazing modern touch to them. The best Indian we all had had in Sydney with such amazing view. Will definitely be coming back for more.

Manjit's Wharf is located on King St Wharf and I would consider the best Indian in Sydney. I know it's a big call but i've always had such great food experiences at Manjit's Wharf. I was eager to go back to see what was new on their autumn menu. They also provide catering for functions including weddings
Rohan Dhulekar
The food at Manjit’s is below average. On the contrary it is supremely overpriced for those quantities. I would recommend them to improve their portions to do justice to the pricing. The mutton roganjosh we ordered seemed like the Sharwood’s paste roganjosh at coles and Woolies. We ended up paying the extra 10% public holiday surcharge for food which was the worse Indian food we have had in Sydney. Very disappointing.
Looks And Cooks
I had such a warming experience at this spot on Kings Street Wharf. Authentic Indian with a modern twist. The menu includes Indian Street Food dishes that blew me away. The menu is colourful and authentic. Servings are very generous and you will leave full! The view is absolutely stunning on the wharf, try get a window table if you can! It would be perfect for a corporate lunch or group dinner. The biggest thing for me was the service, some of the best I have had in Sydney. The team are fantastic and I highly recommend you visit the venue, you will not be disappointed!!

For an authentic Indian fine dining experience, we headed to Manjit’s on the Wharf on King Street Wharf, a creative Indian restaurant known for its hearty and delicious yet fun takes on classic Indian staple dishes! We started off with cocktails – my Rosewater Martini was a beautiful shade of pink and had a great balance of rose essence with the classic martini taste. The Sharabi lassi was a great combination of creamy yoghurt lassi with liqueur, which balanced out some of the spicier dishes to follow.

PSA- Manjits Wharf has teamed up with the King himself Mr Spooning Australia and Brown Paper Wines to bring you a 6 course wine matched bonanza! Grab your tickets here ASAP!. Manjit’s is on a mission to provide a modern Indian fine dining experience in the heart of Sydney. The Manjits team strike a perfect balance between traditional Indian cooking techniques and creative, slightly rebellious experimentation in the kitchen. The result is an incredibly unique menu that still rings authenticity.

Stumbled upon this spectacularly located Indian restaurant. The view over Darling harbour was beautiful at sunset. The decor here is sophisticated and tasteful. White tablecloths and white china serving dishes. We were ushered to a table for 4 and offered tap water immediately. The dished were modern versions of old favourites. Our dining experience here was a memorable one as we are from Melbourne. The best Indian we have ever eaten. Will visit on our return to Sydney.

Delicious Indian food! The place looks cozy and sophisticated. I really enjoyed the view of the harbor while eating dinner. Ordered chicken and tiger prawn, plus biryani rice. It was good! Spicy and flavorful! It just took some time to serve the food, but worth the wait!

Manjits Indian restaurant is a Sydney dining institution and a family run business which was established in 1984. Manjits has since branched out to include a number of locations including Balmain, King Street Wharf Darling Harbour and further south to Wollongong, and one of its northern suburbs, Corrimal.

I had been to this restaurant with my team members for the first time and then visited them again couple of times with my husband , so far I am not disappointed :).<br/><br/>I would highly recommend that, you try the king and Queens banquet (55.90 per/person). <br/>Will try the royal treat some time in future.<br/><br/>It was a treat to our taste-buds and was tough to finish, considering the quantity they served.<br/><br/>I would highly recommend this place in case you are planning to spend a romantic evening by the wharf with a special someone.<br/><br/>The only downside though is the pricing part, but once in while it is okay to splurge :P.<br/>Even the a la carte options are interesting, but pricey, :) heee heee.<br/><br/>Highly recommend- Curries, starters<br/>Naans  were average.<br/>I wouldn't recommend the biriyani though, I know the style of serving is fun and all with pot covered in pastry (looks pretty amazing when they bring this to your table), but the flavours failed to impress, try at your own risk :).<br/><br/>Final verdict<br/>-----------------------<br/>Food-4*<br/>Ambience-4*<br/>Service-4*<br/>waitingTime-3* -They are bit slow :(<br/>Price-3* (Quite pricey by Sydney standards )

Visited the place for dinner a while ago.The views are really awesome and so is the service. The staff is friendly. The food is nice.Tried some of their vegetarian dishes and they were good.To add,the desserts are a must try.

Wonderful locale for this restaurant nestled amongst others in King Street Wharf with its entrance on Lime Street. The outlook is onto Darling Harbour which is quite pretty.<br/><br/>Service is wonderful here and very attentive. Nothing is too much for them. <br/><br/>We had a wide selection of starters. Our favourites included Bharrah Kebab which were lamb cutlets which are marinated and cooked in the tandoor. Very tasty and moreish. The Fish Malai was also from the tandoor and melt in the mouth. Served with colourful chutneys, it was delicious. Banjara Tikka were tender pieces of chicken coated with a lovely purĂ©e. <br/><br/>The Naan Bread was bigger than an A4 size of paper and more than enough to feed a small family. It was great to mop up the curries. The Dum Ki Biryani was spicy and a great combo of basmati rice, spices, and chicken thigh. <br/><br/>Finished off with Mango Pistachio Kulfi and Rasmalai. The kulfi was creamy and packed full of flavour and great ending to the meal. The rasmalai are milk dumplings and quite light. Served in a saffron and cardamom milk reduction.<br/><br/>Overall worth a try if you’re in the mood for a great Indian meal.

In Short: Dining at Manjit’s At The Wharf is an unforgettable and exciting experience. The fantastic view of Darling Harbour is a bonus but the main attraction that will keep you coming back is their attentive service and authentic Indian food that excites the palate and innovates in presentation.

I went this place twice because of its delicious food that too in Sydney. The location was amazing as it was situated nearby darling harbour. ambience was nice and quite a big restaurant. it is little expensive but it is worth to go there. Staff is courteous but the service is little slow. Lastly Food is fabulous. If one is going to Sydney to visit this place

Visited with family for my mother in law's birthday. Was quite crowded for a weekday - Wednesday to be precise. Thankfully got seated promptly. The decor is gorgeous and the location is lovely, right next to the wharf and the weather was pleasant so an added bonus.<br/><br/>We started with:<br/>Malai Fish - tasted good, I may be mistaken but not sure why they used Basa when we have immense local produce. <br/>Banjara Tikka - was yumm, especially the sauce<br/><br/>For main course we ordered:<br/>Jhinga Malabari - tasty and creamy, well cooked prawns<br/><br/>Murg Mumtaz Begam - a fancy name for good ol Butter Chicken :) - my favourite!<br/><br/>We ordered Roti - good, Garlic Naan - good, Signature naan - good - can be eaten on it's own and quite filling and a Cheese naan - for my daughter who devoured it<br/><br/>We also ordered Mango lassi  which was disappointing. Served with ice so the lassi was getting diluted and the sweetness was reduced.<br/><br/>For desserts, we had the Mango Pistachio Kulfi - average and the Chai Creme brulee which was creamy and delicious!<br/><br/>The only downside I would say is the service which is a let down. Very slow and the servers although very nice and friendly, could have done a better job. <br/><br/>Overall a wonderful experience and definitely coming again!<br/><br/>My ratings:<br/><br/>Food - 4/5<br/><br/>Ambience - 5/5<br/><br/>Service - 3/5
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
(4.5 stars)<br/> Much more than just a prominent waterside location, Manjits @ The Wharf builds upon the success of the restaurant group’s Balmain stalwart. It’s the first time I’ve been back since attending their launch dinner in February 2016, and to my palate, this restaurant is eating much better than it did on that occasion.Growing up here in Australia eating his parents’ Indian cooking, Head Chef Varun Gujral brings to the table both an Indian palate and an Australian sensibility.Varun has further refined dishes like the Crab Uttapam ($19/3) I tried on my first visit. Eaten like tacos, these flexible rice and lentil pancakes now sandwich a more flavoursome blend of blue swimmer crab, green chilli, coriander, ginger and toothsome yellow split peas, into two-bite finger-food. Without imli (tamarind chuntney) the palette of Fish Malai ($16) is presented with slightly less artistic flair than last time, however it’s hard to complain when there’s so much kick in the colourful chutneys. Tender ling fillets are great vehicles for sampling combinations of these condiments, each so central to Indian cuisine. As the restaurant fills up around us on this grey and moody Tuesday evening, we move onto Banjarra Tikka ($16). Think of this as...
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Location Location Location! For stunning views whilst experiencing fine dining Indian cuisine – Manjits @ The Wharf ticks all the boxes!. We decided to start with a couple of cocktails. Sir loves his rum so he had the impressively presented “The smoking Napali”. It was made up of Nepalese Khukri rum with honey, lime, fig and cinnamon served smoked. You could taste the smokiness and he thoroughly enjoyed this rum based delight.

Over rated. Good view. Terribly Slow service. Undercooked food. Friendly staff. If you are after authentic Indian food, there are far many better options than this. No go for me.

Located at waterfront of Darling Harbour, this Indian cuisine restaurant in Sydney has very good ambience. Food is good too. Service was prompt. Good and exhaustive menu for beverages (alcoholic as well as non alcoholic) Food menu is also exhaustive with more choices for non 𝚟𝚎get .<br/>
Snapshots Of Food
We were treated to an Indian feast at Manjit's at the Wharf. At Manjit's, you can expect to see traditional Indian food with a few modern twists. It's amazing interior is so grand, spacious and perfect for a special evening. The venue is fit for a wedding or big celebrations; one where you can impress your guests. What you see on the table above is what we were served. We were overwhelmed with the amount of food coming out of the kitchen. It was literally never ending! We were having a conversation with Varun who told us this can easily feed two indians. GEEZ, we were in disbelief. If you want to impress your guests, ask for the giant naan bread. It'll sure be the topic of the night. We loved the butter chicken, lamb cutlet and the amazing biryani. The biryani was served with pastry on a hot pot. It was cut right infront of us and mixed together with the chicken and the rice. Such an honour to see how traditional Indian food should be served. The dishes were prepared so well, cooked to perfect and with love. This is definitely an unforgettable Indian feast in one of Sydney's waterfront location.

Terrible experience <br/>Visited the restaurant at around 7 pm restaurant was empty and the service guy asked me wether i have a reservation i mean like what kind of sense that question made at that point and asked me to wait for 2 minutes.<br/>Once received the table i decided to order some starters as i was not keen on having main course.<br/>The waiter asked me wether i will have main course along or no as they have a policy of minimum billing of 30 aud and he simple refused to take my order. <br/>This was the most pathetic experience and i straight away walked out of that place and advised them to write outside their restaurant regarding their so called minimum billing policy !!!

Booked a table at this Indian resto as my friend was Prague loves Indian good. We were there on a Saturday night and it wasn’t full to my surprise. Anyways we ordered for a stuffed mushrooms in the entrees which was good. The mains has the chicken madras and manjits special stuffed naan. The food was delicious but overly priced. I think the money is more about the view rather then food. But I am glad my friend enjoyed it. The quantity and taste was good.<br/>Service - 3/5<br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Ambience - 4/5<br/>Value for Money - 3/5

Food is not authentic india, maybe had something to do with spices. Gravy was a bit sweet. Staff was friendly though. Prices are a bit on the higher side.

A fine dine, with a spectacular view of the darling harbour.<br/><br/>This Indian restaurant offers everything from Indian curries, snacks and dessert.<br/>‱ Gol gol gappe: the quantity served is too less. Just 4 pcs with not an extra drop of mint water.<br/>These were quite nice in taste.<br/>‱ Malai kofta: delectable and soft.<br/>‱ Naan: not very thin nor that crispy.<br/>‱ Lassi: tasty is the word.<br/><br/> Also, they will charge you extra for raw onions which should come complimentary.<br/><br/>This place will take off a lot of load off of your pocket. And yes, they do make you wait for the table even when half the restaurant is empty.

We visited on 27/5/2018 with 22 people. Food is good but it’s not an honest restaurant. They are big cheaters in billings. They charged 14 rice instead of 2, breads 35 pcs instead of 21 pcs. Excess bills for pyaz, lemon, papad & mint. Upon realising them they reduced everything after lots of arguments. <br/><br/>This happened with our two tables. Be aware and careful while paying at this restaurant and check their bills properly.

We dined in today (27-April-2018) at Manjit's and discovered how Manjit's could take you on a ride. We ordered a lot of food. The quality of the food was below average. Sorry, horrible!!!<br/><br/>While I was doing the payment, I discovered, I was overcharged. I asked why? The cashier said Malabar Prawns is $42. I said menu displays $32. I refused to accept this misguiding and bitter experience. I don't mind paying for the price for its location but not being cheated. The Manjit's and the team were defending to prove their point that the addendum on first page had an updated note.<br/><br/>When you are in a rush with a family on a sightseeing trip at the location, who would read the addendum. As usual, we looked at main menu and ordered food. NOTE: On the menu the Malabar Jhinga (prawns) was priced $32. As a courtesy, the waiter could have alerted us. Service and food was not even worth a single star.<br/><br/>I did pay in full price but was shocked to see the horrible services at Manjit's<br/><br/>If you wish to experience sweet talk with stale food - not fresh, ready to experience defensive management who does not care nor knows what customer service is or if you wish to get charged with misguided or misinformation - just drop by this place.<br/><br/>The service and food quality is better elsewhere than being ripped off at Manjit's at the wharf.<br/><br/>Shame on Manjit's at the wharf. Disappointed... 😡

Well it was really the service and the effort of the staff that has let me down on this very elegant place with a much better view. The staff and especially the manager really need to learn some manners and try and deliver the quality which should come with a place like this. I had missed lunch today and was really hungry so I went in for an early dinner and ordered the drinks and a madras chicken and breads ands soon as I got in and within 2 minutes the waitress came over and said that we will have to leave soon and about a time cap in an empty restaurant as I had got in at 6:20 pm today. I was really shocked and I didn’t know how to respond to that and then came the food I had requested the food to be spicy and all that they did was serve the curry with some extra black pepper. It is not asking too much if you ask for some customisation in a 30$ curry to start with and to make matters worse they don’t know anything about a Madras curry. It was just a generic curry made by twisting around the one red gravy they made. Honestly this is just one of those places for the pretentious few from Sydney would like to go to who say they like Indian food but don’t know anything beyond butter chicken. If all you are interested in good pictures and a good Instagram/Snapchat experience it is a good place to visit but for those who really like and understand what a good Indian cuisine or good service is I would really recommend you give it a miss.

There is a great ambience and superb customer service at this restaurant. They also have really creative cocktails on the menu which I thoroughly enjoyed. Ask the waiter for a recommendation, you definitely won’t be disappointed. I was delightfully surprised that the food cost here was not that expensive compared to other Indian restaurants I have been to (which aren’t as high end). The food was delicious. I shared the vegetarian dishes with my friend; palak paneer and malai kofta. The food was great. I really enjoyed the malai kofta which was deep fried dumplings which I have never had before (mine are usually soft and bathing in the gravy sauce). The paneer was nice and fluffy as it should be. My other friends had the meat based dishes; I believe goat and beef which they also thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was also very a accommodating and brought out some really hot chili’s for me when they overheard that I really liked heat in my food. A very pleasant experience.

Wonderful experience dinning at manjits@wharf. An amazing view of harbour and a beautifully crafted menu with banquets assortment that is rarely available at any other indian restaurants in sydney. We tried the manjits maharaja banquet that the chef suggested and it was indeed a beautiful dinning journey throughout the meal courses. Special attraction was the giant family naan, smoked eggplant dish and the smoking Nepali cocktail. Highly recommended. We will definitely visit back. <br/>

Their servicing needs a lot of improvement. First they make you wait for seating even when there are empty tables. Then they make you wait for taking order. After that they make you wait between dishes despite placing the full order in one go... And so on. The food isn't good either. The "kaju ki sabji" I ordered was mix veg with kaju generously sprinkled over it. Didn't taste good as properly cooked kaju masala you get in India. Then they serve you cold tea. Overall, not worth a visit. There are better places to visit in sydney both in terms of pricing and quality.

We went to Manjit’s for dinner. It was a good experience. Ambience was perfect and the food was good as well. The serving staff was very polite. <br/>The place is a bit overpriced, but that is what you can expect of any restaurant at Darling Harbour. Only thing missing we observed was that during the long the waiting time, they did not serve anything complementary like papad and chutney, to keep us busy. Anyways, I would totally recommend this place for its great ambience and food.

Solution of Indian Food Craving :)<br/><br/>Detailed Review : facebook.com/iBhukkad/posts/558903251138054 <br/><br/>Visited : Jan 2018<br/><br/>When you are away from your home and everyday craving for some good Indian food, at that time this place gave me a relief. <br/><br/>Location : Its located at the main Darling Harbor dock with a pretty nice view towards the Water and the Ferries Passing. <br/><br/>Ambiance : As soon as you will enter, you will get a nice feel of Indian Culture. Then especially you will get the Indian feel when you see many of the Staff Members and Guests are Indians or Asians Sitting across and at last when you leave, just before the gate, you will see the Flavoued Variyali (Sauf) as Mouth Freshner, will complete the dinner.<br/><br/>Food and Taste : It was really a good Taste overall. We were three and initially we tried Beer and Shikanji. I was the Shikanji Drinker and trust me, it will take to Jain Shikanji of Modinagar, extremely Good. Then we jumped for Main Course Directly, and it was Garlic Naan, Plain Naan, Keema Naan in Breads and Dal Makhni, and Paneer Saag.<br/><br/>Personally, we didn't liked Paneer Saag that much, but Dal Makhni steal the show. It was amazing. I tried Garlic and Plain Naan and both were Hot served and soft. So Overall a pretty good deal.<br/><br/>Price : It seems good and nothing on the higher side. <br/><br/>Cons / Things to Improve : They should add some more Vegetarian Items in Starters and Main Course.<br/><br/>Overall, a Must try.

Arun and Amit provided my father and my mother excellent service for their 26th anniversary. Thank you so much! They were made to feel incredibly special on their joyous day. The complimentary dessert was greatly appreciated. Food was delicious as always.

Awesome. I honestly didn’t like Indian food until last night because I didn’t taste any and they are just spicy. However, Manjit approves that they cook Indian food really well. All staffs are nice and kind. Outlook view from the restaurant is fabulous. You won’t regret.
Amrisha Sridharan
Ambience and service were good! But the food ain't great. It failed miserably promoting the concept of authentic Indian food. The tandoori chicken was a perfect blend of spices and the biryani was complete shocker. There signature dishes were good. Overall food could be more appealing. $90 for 2.

Excellent food, excellent service! We tried almost all Indian restaurants on our visit to Sydney! But, hands down this is the best Sydney has! We had Jhinga, and Amritsari Machhli and Dal makhni on all our visits and it was delicious. Great work guys! Hope this standard is maintained throughout! Will be there next time for sure. 👍👍😀😀

We had been there today and had vivid special royal feast. No other Indian restaurant in Sydney can beat their delicious food, good service, generous quantity and Friendly staff. It was an awesome experience. Now I know where to go for real Indian food in Sydney. Its Sydney's best India restaurant. Love the whole experience of royal feast. Specially being vegetarian I hardly get so much variety and quality of food. It was 3 course dinner, can't pick what was the best, every dish was as perfect as it can be. Even though they were fully booked today, there was no compromise on food. I think I can go many more time

Half empty restaurant and still they were taking ages to assign a table. <br/>Useless service. <br/>Not recommended if don't wanna spoil your mood before eating.

My reviews are based on my personal experience of visiting this Restaurant and can be categorised as per below :<br/>------------------------------------------------<br/>- Location : 15 min walk from Wynard Station.situated right next to the wraf. Fantastic location.<br/>- Cuisine : Indian<br/>- Taste : Average food , little bland to meet Indian palate<br/>- Staff : superb friendly staff and very welcoming<br/>- Ambience : Excellent, Restaurant gives a classy feel<br/>- Serving per plate : Very low quantity<br/>- Cost for two :Approx 70 for two<br/>- What I tried : Tandoori chicken (Good), amritsaari machali(ok), Dum biryani(too costly for the quantity and taste ), Chicken curry(ok), breads were good.<br/>Aloo tiki was good.Kajoo curry was good<br/>- In short : Very costly restaurant and would not recommend it. Waiting time has erased the entire appetite.

“Absolutely the best!!”<br/>The best indian food experience ever. Me and my friends from Blue Mountains were searching for indian restaurant in sydney. We were googled Manjits and just wanted to try it out.<br/><br/>Delicious! We found the the best lamb cutlets and curries here. The food was great, their is a room for improvement in service but the ambience was beautiful at night.<br/><br/>We found the best indian food in sydney. :) Will come back again!

Manjits is a very well known fine dining restaurant in darling harbor.<br/><br/>It is facing the harbor and in the evening lights, it is just beautiful, also the ambience is really rich, posh and classy! Real fine dining experience.<br/><br/>There was a lot of innovation on food here. Highlights were the pani-puri shots, pan-papdi chaat, etc. The best was Panneer Tikka, it was heavenly.<br/><br/>Don't miss out on the lassi experience, it is made extra foamy using a siphon and looks really cool.<br/><br/>On the whole, it was a memorable - heavy on the pocket - experience. But worth it.

Wonderful views... Great service... Reasonable price and creative dishes. Good during lunch for business meetings when I went. Very welcoming people... If you let them know before they will create a good chefs tasting plate for you. Highly recommended

2nd review, 1/April 18;<br/><br/>We came back for lunch given my previous experience (below) was great. Unfortunately Manjits dropped the ball this time with the Madras. It tasted like the Pataks canned sauce and barely had any spice flavour. The lamb was chewy like pulled beef so I was disappointed. we also ordered the Tandoori whole chicken which succulent and juicy. I would say that it needed more time in marinate given the inside meat was plain. rating had been downgraded. The last time I was here the owner (son) was actually cooking so I presume this wasn't the case.<br/><br/>Older;<br/>I dropped by Manjit's for some lunch with some friends during the weekday, I ordered the Chicken Madras and also sampled the Lamb Korma. I didn't expect to get such a flavoursome dish in Darling Harbour as my experience has somewhat led me to believe that the more authentic dishes are generally in the local areas. Anyway, the madras sauce was rich, full of flavour and you can almost taste the individual spice notes. I can usually tell whether the sauce is just dumped from a jar or actually made from scratch. On the other hand the lamb korma was nice but wasn't much of a 'wow' factor. The garlic naan was crisp and fresh and pretty much as good as it gets, so when your fingers still smell on spices after you've washed them the first time, there's a good chance ingredients were authentic. Seating arrangements are good, plenty of inner space and as everyone else here pointed out, the views are good. I really liked how the waiter/waitress often checked our table for empty bowls/plates and removed them without waving around so the dining experience was pleasant. As you'd expect from a place in Darling Harbour it's not cheap but we cannot complain given the location.

Can't even give one star because what manjith did was completely against basic customer service. We, an Indian family of 5, who had relatives visiting and we went around the city, very tired in the evening, searched for an Indian restaurant to have vegetarian food, entered Manjith's. After sitting st the table, we ordered food which came to 20$ to 25$ per person. The hostess, might have thought we were not classy enough for the hotel. She told us a rule that we had to order min 30$ per person. That would have meant a massive amount of food which we couldn't eat. I have never heard of such a rule. We got up and she smiled at the fellow hostess. It almost seemed as if they didn't want to serve us because we didn't look a particular standard.<br/>Haven't felt so insulted with my family from India <br/>Harini Warrier

I'm not sure where to start with this, but let's get the context in first... We had a large group of approximately 20 book into Manjit's on the weekend. All of us had the $55.90 banquet which included the following:<br/>Raita + Pappadums<br/><br/>EntrĂ©es – Banjara Tikka, Fish Amrtisari, Dilbahar Tikki<br/><br/>3 main courses – Butter chicken, Bakra Roganjosh, Baigan Takatak<br/><br/>Naan<br/><br/>Rice<br/><br/>To the review, starting with the good (since there wasn't much of it):<br/>The waiters were above average, attentive and ensuring that we were happy. My chair got pushed in, but the napkin wasn't prepared, an odd combination. They made sure that we had enough drink (take note of this point for later) so we never went thirsty.<br/><br/>The food was okay without being great. You're paying for the view here. More on this later.<br/><br/>That's where it ends for the good points...<br/><br/>As stated above, the waiters made sure we were well watered. But too much. I felt I was pestered the whole night given I only had one cider (I drove), and was more than happy with my water. While polite,  I found it excessive. Only a small mark against them, there is worse.<br/><br/>Again, as mentioned before, the food was okay. And that's all well and good when I get $10 takeaway from the cornerstore down the road - not when it's $55.90. I did cross check with my Indian friend who sat opposite. I trust my tastebuds, but felt like I was being harsh until he agreed with me most of the time. We'll go one by one here, with the brackets showing the quantity supplied per person:<br/><br/>Raita + Pappadums:  (one small roll) as good as they can be I guess, but nothing to write home about.<br/><br/>Banjara Tikka: (one piece) not bad, but the dal was an odd match. <br/><br/>Fish Amrtisari: (one piece)  simply deep fried fish which I could do at home. I was recently at another Indian place that did this far better.<br/><br/>Dilbahar Tikki (one piece): I liked it due to the spice, but otherwise just some fried potato with chilli.<br/><br/>Butter chicken (unlimited):  very buttery, but lacking depth. This just seemed like it wasn't cooked for long enough - was missing the usual body of a good butter chicken<br/><br/>Bakra Roganjosh (unlimited): again like the butter chicken - lacking depth. The lamb was ok in terms of softness, but the flavours of the roganjosh were muted.<br/><br/>Baigan Takatak (unlimited): probably the best of the mains with better depth than the rest. Surprising given it's the vegetarian dish.<br/><br/>Naan/Rice: as much as naan/rice it can be. I expected some biryani given the price.<br/><br/>So the food doesn't sound too bad, but the kicker was that this took almost 3 hours to come out. Between each entree, it took over 30 minutes for the next piece of food to come through. Not acceptable. Whether this was a large group and they struggled, it doesn't matter given the capacity of the place is well over 150. They should be ready. We started at 7:45pm and had long intervals between each dish. We timed it between the fish and tikki, and that alone took 45 minutes. Then between the tikki and the main took another 55 minutes. This is the key failure of Manjits. It also magnified the effect of the pestering waiters trying to take drink orders - it felt like they were trying to rip us off with drink orders. I thought no meant no. The enthusiatic waiters also shot themselves in the foot with overhyping the main dishes by giving them all the glorious food snob descriptions while serving it. This may have worked if we were in the mood, but by the time the mains came out (10:35pm), most of us were beyond hungry, annoyed and the food up to that point wasn't great. Seems like some emotional intelligence training is required of the waiters so they can sense that the diners aren't particularly happy because most of us simply weren't having any of it. With the overhyping of the food, once we ate it, we simply didn't feel it matched their descriptions. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing.<br/><br/>In a few sentences, Manjits has disappointed myself and 20 others that night. Being charged $55.9 for small pieces of entrees and average mains that come out extremely late is almost robbery. You pay for the view and the over enthusiastic waiters. Go get your quality Indian from the local suburbs like Harris Park.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a great Indian restaurant in the city and not too heavy on the purse! Perfect location could have a better view...but hey its the food that matters!!! Great selection of food, we tried the bharrah kebab and fish arbitrarily which was to die for. However the scallops were mediocre, prawn Malabar wad great as mains. Will surely return here.
Namit Kamat
The restaurant is on the Darling Harbour but no outside sitting... so though you have the view but cannot enjoy the breeze.<br/><br/>With the premium location , the price is also premium.. its bit expensive and the food is more suitable for the locals rather than the desi..<br/><br/>The restaurant has open kitchen and you can see your dishes been cooked .. the ambiance is good and so is the service. <br/><br/>The menu is quite well spread and lots of options for both veg and non vegetarians.. <br/> <br/>I had the butter chicken, Dal Makhani and naans there... the dal was very tasty , chicken was ok..The naans were cooked well and soft.
Salted Caramel
Top class restaurant- lovely location- impeccable service- attentive and attention to detail. Went here spontaneously - didn't regret it! <br/>Bharat kebab - amazing lamb cutlets like you've never had before. Marinated with yogurt, garlic, lemon juices and spices. <br/>Mums goat curry; chicken midras( southern Indian food... This is the sister restaurant to the Balmain one... We enjoyed it! Think I would order differently next time- I enjoyed the entrees more than the mains.
Arnav K. Chugh
Sitting here with a couple of friends and it has been 40 mins but the waiter is just telling us sorry we have a large group of people so everything is running a little slow. What is a point of doing a booking if the chefs can't even provide food. We haven't even got any entrées.! Pathetic service!
Nidhi Madan
The location and service were fantastic. So recommend making a reservation as it's quite crowded. <br/>The starters and deserts were above average good, mains were a bit underwhelming. Overall a great experience.

We had bad experience with this restaurant. Price list shown in zomato is not correct. Actual price list at the restaurant menu is double. We booked a table near the window which was confirmed by them but we were given a table in the middle which is unprofessional.<br/>I was also not given any napkins at the table <br/>Lasty the food was bad specially malai kofta which was stale and hard unlike regular creamy sweet soft malai kofta. Daal was ok. Fingures crossed for my stomach for the morning.<br/>

I had visited this place with my office fellas.Nice place with good ambience and a fantastic river view. Staffs were very cordial. We had ordered the banquet which was suggested by the staff. It had nice entreĂšs of chicken, fish and potato. They have got me special paneer tikka, mushrooms from veggie option. Main course had garlic naan, rice few curries of chicken, fish and lamb along with spinach and daal. Naan was really good, soft and warm. Curries were just average, not bad though. A funkie egg plant dish delivered in a smoke plate was interesting. The non-indians liked it very much and am balanced. But its a nice place to go during a sunny afternoon and have a lazy munch.

Firstly I've gotta say, Wow ! This place is not your traditional Indian restaurant. They have a variety of fusion dishes and the waiters were very courteous and warm, explaining the dishes. The prices are on the premium end but yeah it's definitely worth the cost ! Go for the dinner service, its right out there on King's wharf ! Manjit is one of my favourites in Sydney

I always keep saying for me the authenticity of the food flavor is more important. When my team mates decided to go to an Indian restraint in Sydney I was sceptic about – the spice must be toned down to meet the palate of the westerners. <br/><br/>Well I was proven wrong – the food was authentic Indian with hint of hing and mustard. We underestimated the quantity and over ordered. The family Naan can feed 4 people and stays soft for a long time. Definitely order the Mutton Raan and the biryani. I was looking for loop holes in the recipe but alas none was spotted.<br/><br/>I realized mutton raan and red wine is an inseparable combination. The wine aggravates the flavor of the mutton in so many ways that it’s difficult to explain the feeling.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a family evening here
Spooning Australia
If you think Indian food is only something you collect on the way home in a plastic container think again, this is not traditional. Manjit’s has taken the traditional and made it exquisite while maintaining respect for the ingredients and the dishes you may know.<br/><br/>It’s a perfect five spoons from me, the only one awarded this year so far.<br/><br/>I got to have three of the best things in my life. 1) The best lamb cutlets I have ever eaten, 2) The best Indian food I have ever eaten and 3) (the most important) – the best meal I have been able to take my mum out to. It honestly doesn’t get any better than that.
Vikas Yagnik
I liked a few things there but not everything is worth the hype. They spend a lot of time in presentation of food instead of preparation and thus it looks good but tastes OK, just OK. <br/>Highly over priced and not at all value. I will give 5/5 for ambience and presentation but what all matters is taste which is not authentic Indian so 3/5.
ChubbyMilo
Best Indian food I have had in Australia - try the Morton Bay Bug curry.. Just one of the incredibly tasty dishes they have on offer. The food is elegantly presented in a slick beautiful dining room, perfect for date night or business lunches - the staff are sweet and attentive and are looking to give you exceptional personal service.

By far the best Indian food I have eaten at a restaurant in Sydney. A true culinary experience overlooking the Darling harbour. The staff are very friendly.<br/><br/>For starters, we had the Bharrah Kebab (lamb cutlets) and the Dilbahar tikki (potato tikki). The lamb was tender, juicy and had the right amount of spice. <br/><br/>For mains we had the Baingan Takatak which is the chef's version of a bharta which comes in a smoked jar. Their signature dish the Lamb Shoulder Anarkali was just mouth watering though I think it would be better to use a cut of leg rather than the shoulder. <br/><br/>Overall a very good dining experience. Would definitely go back to try out the other dishes on the menu.

Excellent location good decor, very good dhal Makhni, goat curry was yummy too, <br/>I would have given 5 out 5 if the entree's were good BUT the Fish Amritsari was bland tasteless NOT worth it, chicken tikka recommend by the staff was mediocre the only good thing in the entree was the cauliflower purĂ©e which was yumm...! Deserts were good Chai spiced Creme brĂ»lĂ©e but still needs more spices, Apple jalebi good one but serve only two pieces with the ice cream which is more then enough, Both the deserts were good something new in a Indian restaurant. And in the beginning the service was very slow but picked up after it got busy....🙄. Food for two $150 plus <br/>Entree, mans and deserts and couple of beer each. Very very expensive. Can't blame them MOST of the money is for the view/Location.......!!! All the best.
Vivek Khandelwal
Tasty food, good service and excellent location sums up the review. Don't go there for lots of food items on the menu but whatever they serve is tasty. The view overlooking the harbour is fantastic and service is just fine. Whether your taste is desi or Aussie Indian, you can go here for your special day.
Alisa Nakamura
We ordered the delicious cashew nuts, which as the menu states is a specialty and I've never had anything like it. However, the two chicken dishes we ordered were too dry and flaky.
Vazza G
Had dinner here with a group of work friends, it was busy and we were seated in the lounge which was a good way to unwind after rater than being rushed to a table like other places do. we had a round of beers and some poppadoms and then escorted to the table. service was fantastic, the chefs were nice enough to say hello even though they were clearly busy. we ordered the tandoori fish starter, scallops and mains the slow cooked beef cheek vindallo (HOT!!!) and the bryani, WOW!!! we saw other tables do the eggplant dish which look out of this world.<br/>Good wine list and reasonable priced $110 including numerous drinks  defiantly will be back!!!

The best way we can describe Manjit’s at the Wharf is with a comparison. You know the Malaya just round the corner and how it does tremendously great Malaysian/Chinese food? Well, Manjit’s is like that but with Indian food.
Two Girls One Fork
When thinking about Indian food, the words innovative, delicate and sophisticated don't ordinarily come to mind but @manjitsatthewharf are turning a food synonymous (at least to us!) with sweatpants and couches, into a fine dining experience, complete with imported Indian wine, cocktails and absolutely stunning decor. <br/>An example of their brilliance is the Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Khumb. Grilled whole organic mushrooms filled with paneer and cottage cheese, spiced corn and water chestnut. Our vegetarian has been subjected to many heinous mushrooms in her time but these... well... she ate ALL of them. The quality of food and uniqueness of each dish is second to no other Indian we have ever had... and yes, we completely understand the gravity of that comment. <br/><br/><br/>Stop mucking around and just do this. You won't be sorry.

Manjits @ The Wharf is an upscale Indian restaurant located right by the water at King Street Wharf. This venue is an offshoot of the original venue located out at Balmain which has been operating and bringing great Indian food to the Sydney dining scene for over 30 years. Just late last week I had the pleasure of visiting and checking out the new venue at King Street Wharf.

A new addition to Darling harbour's ever changing culinary scene . This one will give stiff completion. To Zaafran for sure . Had a dinner here . With a decent wine collection , we , for a change opted for red wine ( instead of beer) . It was a indeed a good selection and with nicely done aloo tiki as starter , we settled for a sumptuous dinner . For main course I only ordered daal of the day ( it was yellow dal for<br/>That day) along with tandoori tikka roti (crispy) . Dal, as expect , was delicious . Service was extremely friendly . A bit pricy ( per person approx $ 40.00 per person witb glass of wine) but it is worth it . Try it - I am sure you will enjoy !!!!

Have tried both take away and the in dining.I just loved the food at the Manjit's.The menu showed for Manjit's in zomato for take away is not from The Wharf but some other branch of theirs. They even made me Shahi Paneer evem though it was not in the menu.Staff is super friendly. So people may have problem locating the place as it is at the back side of the restaurants on the harbour.

Food was lovely. <br/>Only complaint is that we were forced into buying a bottle of wine. We were encouraged to buy a certain wine to which I said okay I will have a glass. A bottle was opened and left on the table. That is where it stayed as it was terrible. Still I was charged for the bottle despite agreeing to only a glass out of obligation. <br/>Other than that though, lovely food, good service and great views.

A really wonderful and authentic Indian experience. The ambience and view is breathtaking, it's the perfect function space.<br/><br/>The curry prawns, the giant naans, the flavoursome curries and delectable desserts all presented superbly on the plate. <br/><br/>Highly recommend to avid Indian lovers as well as newcomers to the cusine.

Good service through and through. Amazing food!! Good portions and economical. Will definitely keep them on my go-to list<br/> and would recommend to everyone who loves Indian food.

Amazing food. Most theatrical Indian experience I've ever had. Service was really great too. Was worried that the pictures spoke louder than the taste, but the food really was incredible. Even the People on the table next to us asked to point out the chef to say thank you and we followed suit. The view is great too.

Saw pictures of the food on social media and always wanted to try the Manjit in Armadale. Being really far away never made it decided to try it at the wharf today.<br/><br/>Being Valentine's day we had to go for the banquet menu which was 75$pp. What I really liked was that they had a separate vegetarian menu which had as many dishes as the meat menu.<br/><br/>We started with a gol gappa and mini chat really good flavours and took me back home, wish I had more than one piece of each. Entree was 4 dishes tandoori zucchini, aloo tikki, a paneer and finally the mushroom. The aloo and paneer were pretty standard, zucchini was interesting a very new flavor, the mushroom were a stand out. They were portebello mushrooms filled with paneer and topped with cheese. Absolutely unhealthy heaven.<br/><br/>The mains were a Dal, eggplant vegetable, kaju sabhji (cashew nut curry), malai kofta, paneer again, rice and rotis. The mains were a bit of a step down. All of them were pretty average.<br/><br/>Dessert we got a mini tasting of shahi tukda, pistachio and mango kulfi and apple jalebi. I am personally not a fan of shahi tukda, the pistachio kulfi was lovely and apple jalebi had a lovely flavor. Was actually hoping they had the chai spiced creme brulee, will have to make another trip for that.<br/><br/>Overall the evening was lovely beautiful ambience looking over the harbour, wonderful staff and decent Indian food. A place when you have a special occasion in mind as it can set you back quite a few dollars. <br/><br/>Oh and if you get the chance have a look at their cocktails they have very interesting twists on them. We had the sharabhi lassi which was great.

The fun of eating Indian food abroad is a complete different experience altogether. After munching on the respective country's cuisine esp Australian for en number of days, you crave to have some hot n spicy taste in your mouth. <br/>I and my wife were in Australia for honeymoon, travelling and trying out conti food though they were good but finally had to eat some Indian food so we found out abt this place and barged in. This has a huge seating area with lovely wooden decor and comfortable chairs. The ambiance made us feel relaxed. The restaurant overlooks the river where you can see maritime museum. The staff is friendly and informative. <br/>Let's star with food, for starters we chose chicken banjara tikka. Simple yet elegant presentation, a white oval bowl filled with 6 lovely yellow slightly burnt chicken pieces, surrounded with pureé of cauliflower and lemon. Back in India, I have eaten this dish mostly in functions and in restaurants, but I never came across such amazing quality of tikkas. Chicken was soft, fresh, succulent with slight crispiness in the first bite. Marination was done well, hence we could enjou the balance in the taste. Rite amount of spiciness coupled with a hint of tanginess thanks to the pureé served with it. Next for main course we boiled down to Murg Mumtaz Begum or populaly known as butter chicken. One of my favrt curries. 3 quite big chicken pieces cooked well in thick orangish red curry minced with finely grinded cashews and corriander leaves sprinkled over it. The well cut tender chicken pieces were cooked to perfection. I was blown away by the Well spiced gravy with appropriate thickness and lovely colour. Though I woukd criticise on the quantity. Its not enough for 2 ppl. We had it with naan, the quality was nearly the same as what you get in 4 star and above class restaurants in India. Soft, slight buttery and hot. Enjoyed the meal thoroughly. <br/>In the end, we satisfied our craving for such food with happiness. Places like these who serve such splendis cuisine of their country abroad, cooking such fantastic dishes for the foreigners, helps them realise how rich the county is in food and how well Indians are in mixing well the spices to create such masterpieces. Feels proud to find such ppl. <br/>I would recommend you to dine at this place if u are nearby.

Sam: Nice location and great ambiance. Inside, they have house made chill not for the faint-hearted. The lamb vindaloo is very nice also the goat curry is worth a mention. Also enjoyed the fish curry too. Was little unimpressed with the house specialty the smoked vegetable curry as an eggplant hater this dish may have been wasted on me. The waiter is very nice and accommodating. They also did Indian cocktails well. And had nice Indian Whiskey which I tried for the first time and I was impressed by the quality. They lost some point in the dessert. There are better and cheaper Indian place in Western Sydney but please keep in mind you are paying for the location, the nice ambiance and those quirky Bollywood cocktails.

A spontaneous visit to King Street Wharf’s newest kid on the block, Manjits@the Wharf, had my group wanting to traverse more of the surprises on the menu. Let’s face it Indian food is usually shelved in its usual place of ethnic take out or urban weeknight indulgences. Not since Oh Calcutta left its Darlinghurst post code has a contender offered such a different take on east-meets-west Indo cuisine. Manjits is bold, ambitious and determined. Chef Varan Gujral is like a talented genie in a bottle, emerging with coloured smoke puffs, discovering the endless creative opportunity in blended cuisines. With the support and backing of a strong family pedigree in the business, the Darling Harbour precinct is about to have a monsoonic summer of flavour!<br/><br/>Founded and successful on its catering laurels, the restaurant offering is in a different class amongst established neighbours such as Malaya and Kobe Jones. The warmth and staff attention started the night off with confidence as suggestions from our waiter kept us imagining deep into the vortex of all things spice. <br/><br/>Hungry and intoxicated by the exotic aromas, we decided on a medley of entrees which featured Bharra Kebab (tandoor spiced lamb cutlets). Fish Amritsari (melt in your mouth soft battered fillets with a hint of tamarind), Dilbahar Tikki (potato discs in a shallow dune of beetroot powder and sour green chilli) and my favourite, the Banjara Tikka (pillowy and soft grain-fed chicken served with cauliflower smudge). Ok, getting ridiculously gluttonous by now as we await the mains. <br/><br/>First comes what I’m calling a biryani pie. The iconic layered rice’n meat favourite protected by a lightly spiced pastry cover. We also had goat, lamb and tiger prawn curries (tradish I know, but we just gotta!). The show stopper had to be the smoked aubergine. Which arrived with a Heston-esque air of drama and pomp. Concealed in a wide berth test-tube cone, our waiter unveiled this little treasure, ensuring the steam was appropriately circled to carefully release the smoky mist. Food of the Gods. <br/><br/>We felt angelic ending on this note but our dessert stomachs had other evil plans. This included a new and better take on jalebi. Apple ricotta parcels finished with a subtle tangy syrup. Sweet but definitely not sickly. We cross plated with the kulfi and mango ice cream cone and I highly recommend this pairing as a dessert consortium!<br/><br/>Ooff! Totz stuffed. But Varun rightly pointed out we sort of played it safe and are yet to behold the crazy items on the menu. Like the lamb shoulder potted in a rich pomegranate and molasses gravy. Or the stewed Balmain bug infused with a creamy green chilli and coconut sauce. He is right – we must reach for the stars next time. Go there folks. Behold the magic of Indo Oz gastronomy.
