Review House Bar And Bistrot - Sydney

Gil Ho
I write this as I sit having finished the meal. The vibe / mood is so cozy, charming and sets the mood. It really makes you feel like tonight is a special occasion. The lighting, decor, and noise level were perfect. The food was very delicious and felt fair price. It felt like the chef here priotises taste over presentation. The flavours come out and have a party in your mouth. Home baked sourdough, organically grown veggies… whats there not to like Plus a very kind waiting staff topped it all off. Im 100% coming here again.

Phenomenal food and service at fair price! I had the sour dough bread with mussels and a pumpkin straciatella pasta! Amazing

Wonderful service. Lovely dishes to choose from - we did Trout pate, Whitlings, Burrata, Duck with pancakes, pamparelle, and Brussel sprouts. Everything was so tasty and gorgeous. Dog friendly - as have a little balcony out front.

4.5 Stars. Because the food was phenomenal! We had amazing food from start to finish. The staff were super friendly and we had a great chat to them throughout the night. However, we felt like the service fell down a bit, as they kinda forgot about us and didn't check in with us for a while when we were needed some water (and also accidentally delivered a full strength beer instead of a Zero Alcohol Beer - they did however not charge us for the replacement Zero Beer).

My favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney! The food, the atmosphere, the service - everything is always spot on. Mauro and his team have created an amazing venue where you can enjoy the best of Italian food. Our go to place to take friends and family! Highly recommended!

Came here for my boyfriends birthday and the atmosphere was so cosy and the staff were very accomodating. Their homemade pasta is absolutely amazing, I’ve never tasted pasta so fresh and authentic before. Plus they have a great selection of cocktails and wine. Their serving sizes are quite small for the price, but I do recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

Perfect little restaurant! Amelie and Mauro have created a delicious menu and wine list. The whole experience was lovely - wonderful service (thanks Amelie and Kat), good ambience, really unique and delish dishes, and seriously good Italian wine (try the Nebbiolo!). Thank you, we’ll be back.

Great Italian restaurant. Mauro (hope I got the name right) and the team know what they are doing. Excellent quality well executed meals. The wine list is superb without being pretentious. Will definitely come back.

We were the only ones dining here on a Friday night. Friendly and efficient service from both the waitress and French chef. The food was absolutely Devine and would recommend.

My favorite place in Sydney with his ever changing menu it’s a pleasure to come every week to discover new dishes. It’s really a place where you feel like home.
The chef is friendly and love talking about how he makes the food and the waitress have a lovely french accent and knows everything about the food and good drinks to go with ahaha :) .

Wow , found a treasure , House Bar & Bistrot , Kellett Street , Potts point. The risotto had that perfect balance; rich and creamy, the swordfish was perfectly prepared. Beautiful side dishes , arugula & cherry tomatoes with a lovely house dressing and the raw zucchini salad were superb . The House made sourdough bread with gorgonzola cheese and honey was beautiful.

The service was outstanding and was only exceeded by the quality of the food.

Yes , we will be going back!

Nestled behind Kings Cross at the end of Kellett Street is the House Bar and Bistrot. Chef Mauro Forgillo, who has worked at Fratelli Fresh, Rockpool and Merivale restaurants had the dream to open his own restaurant, and he’s achieved it at 27-years-old. The result is a charming place in two adjoining terrace houses, serving food that highlights good produce and tasty simple cooking.

Stepping inside the restaurant, this charming Victorian House gives glimpse to its defining features and high ceilings. The dining area offers a lot of natural light, with a cozy and homely feel along with a verandah for alfresco dining. The menu consists of starters, sides, mains and desserts including a separate vegetarian menu. The wine list offers a pleasing selection and is displayed above of the fireplace.
If you’re in the mood for delicious Italian cuisine, cocktails and wine, why not check House Bar & Bistrot out.

When you hear that everything is made freshly and prepared in house you know it’s going to be good! The flour used is all organic and straight from the farmers and producers.

We started with some delicious starters on sourdough bread. Our favourites were the cherry tomatoes and caramelised onions and the pork belly and cabbage.

The mains that we tasted and would recommend is the sirloin beef steak with potatoes, the lamb backstrap egg plants caviar and roasted chickpeas, tagliatelle with cherry tomato salsa, the slow cooked ragu pork.

The restaurant is located in the quite streets of Potts Point and hosts a number of tables with the option of outdoor and indoor seating. The restaurants decor is very authentic and homely.

Mauro (ex-Fratelli Fresh Chef and owner of House Bar & Bistro) has created a cute hidden treasure in the middle of potts point. Nestled at the end of Kellet Street you’ll find this spacious and pretty venue open on Sundays for functions and during the week for lunch & dinners!

To start the lunch we had some delicious sourdough with various toppings such as; pork belly with cabbage & seeded mustard, caremalised onions and cherry tomatoes, marinated sardines with butter & lemon zest and parmigiana, pumpkin & thyme. The highlight was definitely the pork belly!

Next we had two salads, white cabbage and Zucchini salad. We also had the Tagliolini with Zucchini flowers and cherry tomatoes. We also had the Tagliatte with braised pork belly and duck egg with parmesan. Highlight of those was the Braised pork belly with duck egg tagliatte, and the zucchini salad. Beautiful dishes to compliment the mains!

Next we had some Greens and Cheese bread dumplings! i thought these were very clever served in a butter sauce and paremsan, i havent tried anything like it before! thoroughly enjoyed those :)

For mains we had the perfectly cooked rump steak with potatoe croquettes, and the melt in the mouth lamb with brown sauce and chickpeas. Highlight for me was the lamb which had a delicious flavour through the sauce!

Loved the house-made pastas which were super fresh, Mauro who cooked it all did a great job! Recommend this place for functions or a lovely lunch/dinner with friends and family. Friendly and hospitable staff too! Please check out my full review!
Love At First Bite
House Bar Bistrot is a new restaurant located in Potts Point. All the food on the menu is updated weekly and everything is made fresh in store from the highest quality ingredients. We decided to check out this restaurant for dinner one night. We ordered two dishes, the first was My moms roast turkey with cheese and mortadella. This was a great dish, the turkey was tender and well roasted, with the cheese adding good flavour.

House Bar & Bistrot is a new European style Bistrot in Potts Point. Located at the end of Kellett Street, not far from the main strip. The food here is mainly Italian inspired, all made from scratch including the bread and Pastas. This was certainly evident when tasting as the food was incredible. Set up in an old Victorian style terrace, with multiple dining spaces including outdoor, which was lovely to sit at during the evening we visited. It is a good spot to enjoy a drink with some great food.

One morning, an invitation email came into my mailbox. It was a long and elaborate email from Mauro, the head chef of House Bar and Bistrot. Mauro was a chef in a number of high-end restaurants in Sydney before he decided to open his own. The suburb that he chose to be the place for his restaurant is Potts Point. The restaurant looked like two regular houses from the outside.

In Short: Take an Italian passeggiata at House Bar & Bistrot, the latest authentic Italian restaurant in Potts Point. Come for the expertly home-made and locally grown ingredients, crafted into incredible dishes on the ever-changing menu, that is sure to satisfy all your Italian food cravings.

Ah, Italy. Long, lazy summer afternoons, amazing food, good wine, friends, and families sharing meals, stories (somewhat exaggerated!), and laughter. These are the memories of my childhood, and of the countless trips I’ve made back to my family’s ancesetral home. So while I patiently await my lotto win, so that I can retire in a villa in Sardinia on la Costa Smeralda, I love discovering new places that feed my nostalgia and bring that little bit of Italy right to my doorstep.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
I'm dining at House Bar & Bistrot, which should really be called 'Houses', because there are two wide terraces, set at the foot of Kellett Street. We’re dining al fresco, while the evenings still warrant it. We're kept entertained by a cockatoo feeding neighbour, who is posing for selfies out her third floor window, with her raucous white feathered friends perched upon her shoulder. The squawks of their squabbling drown out the music emanating from the small dining room, which is decorated with the first oyster themed mural I’ve ever seen. With a cocktail in my hand - a Barrel Aged Negroni ($15) with good hunger-inducing bitterness – the background sights and sounds makes me feel like I’m in the colourful Kings Cross of old, before the suburb was locked down and rebranded as the upwardly mobile Potts Point. Lost in memories I chase crisp apples around a glass of Fireball Sangria ($14) with a thoughtfully provided teaspoon. The cinnamon liqueur gives this drink a lovely roundness, and the spoon shows you they're proud of the quality of their fruit. Care has also gone into the selection of...

House Bar and Bistrot in Potts Point is a new European Eatery. The Australian Good Food Guide recommended I stop by and check out this new establishment. A short stroll from Kings Cross Station, House Bar and Bistrot is located among many residential houses. While it's nice and cosy inside, Matt and I decide to sit outside to enjoy the light breeze that's coming through. Mauro, the owner and head chef, has been in the hospitality industry for 10 years with an Italian background - his philosophy is fresh, seasonal produce combined with traditional Italian cooking techniques. He tells me he personally goes to the market himself and selects the best produce to put on the menu.
