Review Chinatown Noodle King - Sydney

Best ever Chinese cuisine you will find in the town. Just try to be there a bit early because its always busy. The mutton ribs is must try and its comes with so much spices. You will be licking your finger. The dumplings are best as well. If you want to go with your family, book the table before you go. I have posted the dumplings and ribs photos down.

A delicious, yet unassuming eatery on Sussex Street, in the middle of busy Chinatown. It should be noted that the prices in the window are a little higher, and haven’t been changed in some time, but the food is delicious, and the quality is consistently high. Furthermore, at the time of writing, the restaurant also offers a 5% discount for Cash Payment, something to keep in mind when coming in for some noodles or dumplings.

Better dumplings in Sydney you will not get. The food is brilliant and the service is quick and efficient. The noodles are hand made you can see in the kitchen and are delicious. It is a little rough and ready but it is quick, great value, and delicious. You can also take frozen dumplings home.

This was the loudest dining experience I've ever had. Bring your BFFs and yell at them! Many things were unavailable but it wasn't hard to find something delicious. The fresh dumplings were perfect and a plate of stir fried beans has never been so appetising. It was also my first experience of rice whisky, which was on key with the meal. Possibly the most fun I've had dining ever.

The food here was alright but the prices really didn’t add up and we may have been overcharged. As seen in the images with two cans of coke, we were charged $120ish with the 5% off for cash payment. What let this place down was probably the service as there were strong miscommunication as we were missing a set of cutlery and a cup and it took a few times before they were able to figure it out. They also did the thing where they have an underaged child serving things here and there. True Asian experience.

Really enjoyed having dinner here. The place looks a bit messy but you can be comfortable. There is no AC but there was a Fan but they didn't operated it😅 I suggest you should visit this place. I didn't feel it is expensive.

I had a great stir fried pancake noodles with beef with very generous portions. The prices are very affordable too, being around $15 for a meal. My only gripe was that when I ate here, pretty much half of the menu was marked as "N/A" even though it was peak dinner hour on Friday, which really limited my choices. Overall, keen to come back to try out more things hopefully with more of the menu options being available.

Really great food. Very affordable. Definitely recommend. Slightly disappointed the xiao long bao was not available.

We ordered a bunch of vegetables and of course - noodles at this restaurant. Everything was fresh and delicious. The noodles were light and fragrant whereas the veges were perfectly cooked and still crunchy.

Get around this place in a hurry!! Great portions, flavourful and packing heat. Great for a cold night (and any other time)! Would be recommending their hand-cut noodles and pork and chive dumplings.

Massive portion Chinese cuisine located in Sussex Street, we had a possitive experience dining in this restaurant. The place is old and it looks outdated but don't be fooled by it's cover. The food was pretty good, specially the hand noodles. They made a lot of effort with the dish, we were supprised of how big the portion of the food. I couldn't finished my noodles. But we finished the other food (dumplings and chives pancakes). The place is affordable, we paid less than 60 dollars for 4 dishes with beer and tea.

Would recommend for lunch or late lunch, just a warning the portion is huge.

Cheap, tasty and friendly staff. What more could you ask for. Their portions are quite big therefore between two people we shared a main and some dumpling. The pork and chive dumplings and anything with their homemade noodles are to die for. Would come here again and again. Cost under 30 to eat here for two for dinner. I was impressed

Actual rating 3.5/5

We ordered all their dumplings of which all flavours were quite enjoyable, and a noodle soup dish. Prices were decent and service was average for a Chinese restaurant.

This was one of the stops during a Taste of Chinatown tour I attended, and what a revelation - we had lamb dumplings and chicken noodles and both were fabulous. The guide says they do the best northern Chinese dumplings in Chinatown. I didn't get to check out the menu but I'm told they also do lamb skewers with cumin, so I'm definitely going back.

If you’re looking for a Chinese restaurant that has large portion sizes and is great value for money, I suggest visiting Chinatown Noodle King 🤴
The food here is average, especially the noods and dumplings pictured below, but a stand out dish for me was the Peking sauce pork (with pancakes) 🤤

Good Chinese restaurant with a variety of items to choose from. Had 3 different types of dumplings- all tasty- as well as Chinese broccoli. Prices reasonable, and BYO wine allowed.

We went there on Saturday night, too crowded and noisy! And the food serving was super slow. We ordered wonton soup, it turned out there r some dumplings inside, and the skin were too thick. The fried pancake was not that bad.

Price: Average

Portion: 5/5

Service: Decent, I went for late dinner (not many people), waiters/waitresses are ESL so best to be patient and speak more clearly when ordering

Hand-made Dumpling (Fried - Pork & Chives) - 4/5 - Perfectly fried and skin not too thick/thin, cheap and great portion. Could have had more juice/soup inside the dumpling

Spicy Chicken - 4.5/5 - Great with 2 options boneless or on-the-bone, great taste and actually spicy. A bit on the higher end of price for a chicken dish

Tea is included with your meal :)

You can follow me on Instagram: alexyduongy

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL. I am a massive fan of hand made noodles and dumplings. So I was very happy when we were heading to Noodle King as one of the venues as part of the Taste Food Tour.I hadn't been to Noodle King before however I have eaten a lot of hand made noodles and dumplings in Chinatown. So I was eager to try out a new venue.

Cheap Chinese cuisine and well done. Their noodles (which they have lots of choices of) and dumpling dishes (similarly quite a bit of choice) are their specialty.
McNuggets
A nice no-frills Chinese restaurant serving up a wide assortment of classic dishes (their flat noodles, cold or fried, are definitely to be looked out for) and most importantly, dumplings! The highlight was surprisingly the shallot or green onion pancakes - they were crispy yet flaky yet chewy and packed full of flavour, a must-try for any pancake enthusiast.

The price is definitely fair considering the quality and taste and there is plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs with tables and booths scattered about. And as if it couldn't sound any sweeter, it's also BYO so perfect for big groups.

Noodle King really is the king of noodles! Their laksa is probably one of the best in Sydney! Great for a cold winters night. Tastes just as good when taken away to be eaten in the comfort of your own home.

So happy to have found this place. Was in Beijing last year and wanted to find a local Chinese place that serves up authentic dishes like I tried in China and this place fits the bill. My favourite dish that you don't normally find at Chinese restaurants in Oz is the scallion pancake. A definite must!

Noodle king has always been a favourite of my work colleagues. The upstairs seating has soft cushiony seats and even a wall of books...very unexpected in a chinese restaurant. Usually it's not busy during lunchtimes either. Service is decent and they even allow for split bills. Food is best shared with my favourite being the shredded pork + wrap (used for peking duck usually). But the dumplings and noodles are all handmade and done quite well. Prices are not very high either.

Aching for some oily, delicious Chinese food, we decided to visit a small, popular restaurant on Sussex Street, near the main drag of Chinatown. Chinatown Noodle King is famous for their large servings of dumplings and handmade noodles with a reasonable price range and very casual atmosphere. They are open till 11:30pm every day and serve as a great destination to satisfy that late-night Chinese food craving.

With random cubicles made up of odd red couches with abnormally high back rests and a bookshelf in the upper seating area with dusty Asian comics and mags, Chinatown Noodle King has an outdated interior, however aims to serve up hearty traditional Chinese cuisine.

The dishes range from below average to really good. Smaller dishes shined here such as the pigs ears and potato strips, with the pigs ears being a clear standout. The cumin lamb was also a hit, being nice and peppery. Pork and cabbage dumplings were also decent. Then we move on to the lesser (tasting) dishes, with the Chinese cabbage in black vinegar being rather average. Wasn’t sour enough and cabbage wasn’t charred enough. The pork with pickled green beans had to be the biggest disappointment. The meat just tasted like bacon and was quite unexciting in general.

Overall dishes were very oily which is somewhat expected, but nice to have with some red wine to cut through it all. They are a BYO restaurant. Service was alright, strange to be expecting top class service anyway.

Seating arrangement is decent.waiters are okay but can be more responsive.I had to ask for water.free tea so that's good.i ordered prawn and egg fried rice and it was pretty nicely cooked except for the fact it had very less prawns but kinda okay for ten bucks.considering the price and their location and hours of service not a bad choice.

•A great place to have a feed, best to come with large groups of 6+, large variety of dishes = happier tummy
•We ordered several dishes that weren't in the photos, such as the dumplings (pork and chives), they were made fresh and it just makes the difference between an average dumpling and a great dumpling
•Duck giblets - the portion was a bit small, and the prices were small too, it made me feel like I was a giant. The taste was okay, nothing too special about it
•Boiled beef in soy sauce- this was a nice delicious entree, again, portion could of been larger
•Braised pork knuckles w/ secret spicy sauce - this is my favourite dish, if you are a true pork lover and also never had knuckles before, DO IT! The secret sauce also adds a kicker surprise to the mission!
•Spicy fish - a traditional Chinese dish, but it wasn't chilli enough, but a great dish nonetheless, you are only meant to have the fish, full of flavours!
•Shallot pancakes - crispy and not too salty, a nice entree or if you needed some carbs
•Overall, a great traditional Chinese restaurant, the store front is ambiguous, seating is at the back

We went to Chinatown Noodle King on the premise of a tasty, value for money meal, advised by family who'd been there before.

16 dumplings for the price you pay is impressive, however it's a shame the hand-made noodles and dumplings failed to do the same for my tastebuds.

Bang for buck this place delivers. On flavour the Chinese hamburger buns are top notch. Similar to authentic buns we have eaten in the Chinese city of Xian. Unfortunately, our experiences in Xian colour our judgement and ratings. The dumplings, although silky, were bland. However, at $8.00 for 16 it is hard to go past it for value. The hand made noodles were very good and we do appreciate the skill involved here. The wonton soup had seaweed as flavouring. For our palate it was lacking in flavour and the giant bland wontons gave it no kick. The restaurant has an authentic pale of cooking smoke that hangs on the lower level and the language barriers are real and challenging.

My kingdom for the perfect late night snack! But alas, I didn’t find it. After a movie (the very fun ‘Grandma’ with Lily Tomlin), we headed in search of something delectable, and I thought that the Zomato ratings on this were pretty high (3.9 at the time). With such modest exteriors, and a little further away from Chinatown, it’s not somewhere I would have wandered into casually.

Ok, it does not have an appealing entrance, or a grand interior deco, but you are here for the food! The dumplings are freshly made, and taste delicious. It is one the best-value dumpling houses in Chinatown. I love the pork & chives dumplings in hot & sour soup. I also heard this is where celebrity chefs dine afterwork!

For a long time the only place we would eat dumplings from was Noodle King on Sussex. The food was great, the price was cheap and the service.. well it was debatable but at least the food was great. Some nights there would be a bit of a struggle to get a seat as the place has an upstairs and downstairs but still gets pretty packed... We always opted for their pan fried green onion pancake.. a classic but a goodie, some dumplings in sour and spicy soup and our beloeved shredded pork in peking sauce with steamed pancake to wrap them in. It was simple food but it was good. The location is great but the parking around here is horrible. Next door and aboe this place is the sauna place and one time there seemed to be a leak dripping through which was quite disgusting. They dont always bring you the sauces you need to the table but they dont seem to care if you go up and get it yourself.

Always come here to eat the pan fried pork dumplings with chives and pancake with shredded pork and beef noodles which is pretty oily but tasty but also very filing as the portion of food is quite a lot usually 15 dumplings and then about 10 pancake skin and usually have to wash it down with some Chinese tea . Good value for money and never crowded and like to sit upstairs when they allow people to sit there.

Another dud by urbanspoon. The noodles are less than average - no flavour... The pork and prawn dumplings had bones in them. It had too many people crammed in to such a small place. Half expensive for the rude and horrible service.
DroolWorthyWorld
This was another handmade noodle dish. The double cooked pork, onions and leek were a great combination. In comparison to the previous noodle dish, the noodles here were plain, relying upon the pork and pastes to carry the flavour.

My family are the biggest critics and they loved it too. If your getting the fried dumplings make sure you ask for vinegar & soy sauce on the side. Can't get enough of the noodle action. Great value for money total bill was $32 for the above. My favourite dish is the hand made fried noodles, they are not consistent in size however that makes it taste even better. As you walk in you will find stairs leading you up to a dining area/library. A great place to go if your looking to get away from the Chinatown hustle or if your looking for a place to procrastinate whilst you study. If your in Chinatown, Sydney make sure you visit this hidden treasure. The fried beef noodles and fried dumplings are a must have. Loves Handmade noodles Steamed dumplings Fried dumplings Value for money Average Dumplings in vinegar Bao Rat

Chinatown Noodle King is pure old school Chinatown. It's chaotic yet relaxed, a bit shabby and rundown in a good way, in a perfect way. We love it to bits. Neil Perry gives it the ponytail up as well. Now to get drunk enough to shell out for the kangaroo stir fry...

And what of the noodles that the noodle king has been king'd for? They're pretty good! Soft and slippery, well cooked and well adorned with meat and vegetables

Randomly searching for some food in Chinatown, Chinatown Noodle King was our first stop. Our friend wasn’t feeling well, so we were just on the lookout for congee. Unfortunately we didn’t find any here, but we had already sat down. The hand pulled noodles caught my eye. We ordered Hand Pulled Noodles with Lamb, beef Stew with Rice Noodles, Green Onion Pancakes and Egg & Tomato Soup. The portions were pretty large here, but the food was just OK. We ordered egg and tomato soup because it something light, and hopefully wouldn’t upset my friend’s stomach. It was pretty bland though, as it seemed it was just water, then very lightly flavoured. Don’t know why anyone who would enjoy this. The green onion pancakes were also a bit bland, and could have used some extra salt in the dough. It was crisp, but a tiny bit chewy. The Pulled Noodles were my favourite. They were a bit bouncy, and slippery, and the meat was tender, but overall the dish was kind of salty. The Be

New owner = bad food and even worse service. This restaurant was one of my favourite places for cheap/decent priced Chinese food around Chinatown. The service used to be friendly and quick and food was delicious. However, after going there last night with a few friends, what used to be consistently good food and friendly service has now turned into a nightmare of a place due to a recent change in owners. One of our dishes took close to 1hr to come even though the restaurant wasn't even at 1/3rd capacity! The duck and pumpkin dish we ordered not only was extremely slow to arrive, but the duck itself had no meat on it and all you got was a mouthful of fragmented bones. In addition, one of the waitresses requested us to go downstairs and grab ourselves our own drinks from the fridge even though this is part of her role as a waitress. THE RESTAURANT SAID THEY RAN OUT OF RICE!! What Chinese restaurant ever runs out of rice? If you're not prepared for a busy kitchen, then do not run one. As we weren't happy with the long wait, the food, and the service, we kindly requested to speak to the manager. The waitress said she would raise it with the manager and that the manager would come and speak to us. Twenty minutes later, the waitress apologises and says that the manager is "too busy to talk to us". At 1/3 capacity?? So our table went to the counter to discuss our issues with the manager, who blatantly disregarded any of our concerns and so we figured we would just give up and pay. We decided to split the bill, to which the manager replies "can't you just pay all in one - it's too hard to split". If opening the cashier 3 times and pressing a few buttons on the calculator is too hard, please - do not run a restaurant.

I'm extremely disappointed in the recent service and general management of this restaurant. I will not return.

The food here was absolutely delicious. We had twice cooked pork noodles, pork and cabbage dumplings, wonton soup and spicy eggplant with a beer all for $48. Not bad prices at all, and the quality of the food was excellent. The service was pretty much absent, but if you don't mind walking up to someone to get them to take your order then it is worth it for the food (which arrived very promptly). The decor is very authentic, but pretty informal/dilapidated so I wouldn't go for a fancy date. Overall we loved it.

Dumplings Yum. I love my dumplings and these were delicious, including lamb dumplings that I have never had before, and they are very tasty. Love the $5.50 crown lager. Will return to try more dishes.

Terrible service! Couldn't get the waitress to take our order and had to walk to the counter to place the order. Thought if the food was okay, that should be fine as well. We ordered their special dish -spicy pot with veggie, chicken and beef which was below average. After having it, my mouth was so dry... Suspect they might have used MSG. Won't recommend it
Wei
This is one of those places where the food is amazing but the service... not so much.

What can one say about Noodle King that hasn't been said before?delicious steamed dumplings, delicious fried dumplings, delicious chilli dumplings.but let's be honest, the presidential dish here is the chilli beans.order it please.

Hila. The griddle cooked tea-tree mushrooms are to die for. Fantastic home-made noodles and chunky jelly-bean slices in gutsy Sichuan sauce. BIG portions, low prices and pleasant service. If you like it HOT, give it a try!

Food was quite good. The service was terrible, or more accurately, impossible in English. Fortunately the menu was all picture based. Beer and wine available but don't be in a hurry for a refill. I suspect there are many places both better and worse.
