Massive restaurant hidden in a little alleyway in the CBD. They got a wide variety on their menu with decent quality ingredients. The prices are higher than the typical Korean restaurant though.
Danjee is one of the premium Korean restaurants in city. It’s probably the only place that I’d take the special guests. Interior is nice, it’s clean, dishes are presented well and has a very good range of Korean food. Lunch box is also very good. Highly recommended for business lunches & special occasion gatherings. I give this place 4 bears
If you’re a fan of bibimbap, definitely give this place a try. It’s filling and flavorful with plenty of side dishes included. Servers were attentive around lunch time, food came quickly, and it didn’t seem to get too busy in the restaurant. Place was clean and not sticky feeling, and even though they serve alcohol it doesn’t feel like a bar. Overall, great ambiance/music with a lot of younger patrons.
Amazing food and service. Beware the soju and hite. Strong stuff!
One of my favourite Korean places in Sydney!
Great taste and amazing Korean lunch boxes!
Staff are hit and miss. It can often take a long time to get their attention.
A nice place for trying Korean BBQ options.. Good ambience and variety of options.
The food is wonderful and saucy but expensive price. There are 2 kinds of meal, one is BBQ one is normal meal. Should try the BBQ next time 😋
It is located in a little corner near Event Cinema, so it is quite hidden🤨
Our go-to Korean BBQ!!! Food is great and the staff are very helpful. Their wagyu rib finger tastes amazing as well as their ox tongue. The cheese-flavoured fried chicken remains my personal favourite. It is always good go to Danjee for bbq as air circulates pretty well inside the area. Could never go wrong with the ambience, food, and service.
I've been here for more than 3 times as I'm a big fan of Korean food&culture. The food is absolutely wonderful, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the Sausage+kimchi hotpot 부대찌개!!!
I wandered in with two friends on a Thursday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant was filling up quickly (it was almost 7:00 pm) but we managed to snag a table. The fried chicken is incredible and the prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places in town. Highly recommend!
Danjee is a popular Korean BBQ restaurant in Sydney CBD. I go there frequently with friends and we enjoy the BBQ as well as the fried chicken there, pairs well with soju.
I went to Danjee with a few friends as we were feeling like a Korean meal. I like Danjee as it is a step above most of the Korean restaurants in the area.
We ended up choosing the haemul pajeon, a seafood pancake, dak hanmari, a chicken and vegetable hotpot with whole chicken in it and
osam bulgogi, which is stir fried pork with squid.
The meal was very good as we have come to expect at Danjee. A small criticism was that the dak hanmari was very under-seasoned but otherwise, a very enjoyable meal.
Delicious Bimbimbap and bbq! Best bimbimbap ive ever had so far in Sydney. Love the ambience, cleanliness, and staffs are friendly. Will recommend this place to others for sure.
Came here to try some Korean specialty dishes, bibimbap and cold noodle soup. Never though the cold noodles would be so shockingly cold in ice soup with barely any flavour. Soup was too acidic for our liking. Would not pay $17 for it again. In comparison the bibimbap was really satisfactory with the warm flavours.
Keep going back here cos the food is sooo good. The Danjee chicken is a staple on my menu and up to you to pick and choose other dishes to your taste. It’s best to get a few dishes and share. Meals come served with an array of delicious pickles and miso. Not a bad wine list either.
Great little kbbq joint tucked away in an alleyway. Visited for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised by everything. Food was all top notch. Highly recommend this one!
Going to be the best memory with my besties!
The restaurant gets really busy at night, quite popular! Both inside seating and yard seating are available, bright and roomy.
5/5 vegetable salad. A little bit spicy vege salad with yummy sauce! Really good starters!
5/5 spicy charcoal grill pork trotter
Omg 😮 this might be a unique dish for non-Asian foodies! But please try it! It’s amazing! The texture remind me of the soft candy~ very authentic Korean cuisine!
4.5/5 Bibimbap beef
Better than lots of other Korean restaurants! Much better! More Korean local favour! But you do need to make some effort to stir it up. fresh veges, fried eggs and black rice, it’s really nice!
3/5 spicy Stir-fried chicken
This is the last dish came to the table.
So, we were both quite full at the time, this dish failed to leave us a deep impression.
Unforgettable experience with my girls 💓 good choice for 6 to 12 get-together
Extensive menu, good presentation and great selection of side dishes.
The portions are somewhat smaller than what I remember them to be but overall not too bad.
Get the Korean rice salad if you're up for trying something different. Can't go wrong with the japchae.
Nice clean environment, decent Korean food. Ordered the salad with crispy rice, bossam and beef japchae. All dishes were yummy, couldn’t pick a particular favourite.
Overall positive experience.
This place won 1 hat award!
Wow.. You know because of the location on alleyway doesn’t mean that food is not great!
Located just behind Albion, this place was hidden gem for Korean food.
I’ve been told by my Korean friend that that recently the change the menu, and we come and check it out.
I ordered “mul-naeng myeon” buckwheat Noodle I’m chilled soup.
OMG, I never thought that frozen beef consome is actually the star of the dish.
Yeah, it’s slighly frozen, because as you can see in my picture it was forming like shave ice, and I can find chunk of frozen consome inside the bowl.
Season well with pickle and slice pear, slices of beef that I reckon is a beef brisket, and slice 1/2 boil egg.
This is going to be a new favorite dish for Summer that is just around the corner.
They have the best deep fried chicken in Sydney, crispy outside and very tender inside. Noodle in cold beef soup is tasty as well. Definitely we will come back.
If you're are looking to experiment different Korean foods this would be the place to trial. Their tradition korean dishes have a home cooked feel and don't disappoint. I really enjoyed their Babimbap, not the best I've had but definitely up there. KBBQ was about 7/10
The best korean restaurant in Sydney! If you're looking for an authentic korean meal, Danjee should definitely be your first choice. The food is great, very healthy and tasty. I went to this place almost ten times now and it never disappoints me.
I have been to Danjee four times during the last three months. I have been to nearly ten Korean resturants in Sydney, and Danjee is my clear favorite. The food is delicious, the service is good and the atmosphere is good. The over all value is great and the side dishes are great too! My dish recommendations are hwae dup bap (sashimi bibimbap) and soy marinated pork ribs. Personally I find these dishes going very well together.
We came here for a Friday lunch and ordered stone pot bibimbap, and regular bibimbap also. We had some fried chicken too. First up the service is quite friendly and we were served quickly too. The food didn't take too long to reach us which was great. The only thing that bugged me was that for the price difference between the stone pot and regular bibimbap, not only did we not get a hot pot, but we also didn't get rice. For me it wasn't so much an issue since I wouldn't have finished it all, but in terms of value... go for the stone pot one. The chicken was super tender, which I loved, and all the flavours were quite nice. Not the best korean food I have had, but it is certainly a decent place to head for lunch or dinner in the city.
Great Korean food hidden in an alleyway in the heart of the city. Would definitely recommend the seafood pancake, one of the best ones I've had. Traditional dishes like the soups and fried chicken were also delicious. Nice ambience, plenty of space so great for groups.

Rammed with a mostly-Korean crowd, Danjee is still pretty much the top of the food chain as far as Sydney’s Korean restaurants go. I tend to venture down the tiny alley between George Street and Kent Street for their extensive Korean booze selection and for my favourite fire chicken – Bul Dak ($38) – fix. To put out the fire (because this dish is seriously hot) we road-tested a Korean Rice Beer Sampler ($20).Offering up a rack of four brightly coloured, flavoured rice beers, this one’s more gimmick than great. However as you tuck into the dish’s spicy chicken thigh pieces, chewy tteok (rice cakes), pineapple hunks and cheese, I guarantee you’ll be reaching for these quirky but cooling liquids. You can also order the more sophisticated version...
All thanks to a mate who had recommended this joint, I dropped by on a Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised by how I didn't have to talk/scream at the top of my lungs to be heard!
Their menu featured a wide array of options and I would say that the Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) & Danjee Fried Chicken are must haves if you're dining in with a group of 3 or more.
This is one of my fav Korean restaurant. The restaurant is quite popular, so if you go on Fri or weekends, may need to wait for a table. I absolutely love every dish I've tried so far. From side dishes to mains or BBQ. (Especially Yukhoe (a raw beef dish like beef tartare), and never be disappointed.) my Korean friend also said it's a good restaurant to go to. I'll definitely go back!
This is my favourite Korean restaurant for a good overall spread of the classic Korean dishes. The dining area is huge but be sure to book beforehand for larger groups during peak times.
My favourites are the ddeokbokki (with seafood and melted cheese; had mul ddok bokk gi), charcoal BBQ spicy eel and the slow cooked beef ribs (gal bi jjim). The fried chicken is also super crunchy and juicy with dipping sauces on the side. I usually prefer to have the sauce already on the chicken but this is still super delicious.
The raw beef tastes so good!!!! it is defiantly a must-try in Danjee. I never ate raw food before until my friend took me to here and tried the raw beef for once! Now they have raw skate fish, and I'd really like to give it a crack next time. we also ordered the slow cook pork rib soup, it's beautiful. Staffs are nice. A good place for a casual dining with friend!
danjee looks and feels pretty traditional. galbijjim was lacking in flavor and i don't remember much of the fried chicken, bt the photo makes me wanna try again tbh.. looking extra crispy and all. i do remember the bomb banchan .. maybe it's a sydney thing to care more about the banchan than the flavor of the dishes 🙊 what's a good naengmyun spot tho? lmk
I've had lunch here a few times. I can only comment on the lunch special because that's all I've had every time I come here. Love the lunch special (lunch box). Good value and food is always fresh. The a la carte menu is a little on the pricey side but I'll definitely try it one day if I can get pass the lunch box. 😄

Try the authentic korean dishes in This Place. Their Restaurant is traditional modern So it still feel like korean traditional and their side dish kimchi is really pretty.. i ordered their pork belly in the pot and beef in the pot WITh some healthy Ingredients and korean fried chicken and assorted pancake.. the assorted pancake Not like in usual Restaurant and their pork belly in the pot its So fresh and has So strong kimchi flavour
loved their fried chicken, moist and juicy, unfortunately doesnt have the glaze outside. loved their soup, super yummy, as well as the bul dak. the only thing I didnt like was the beef tenderloin, and it was expensive too. everything else was yum yum yum!!! willing to try more!!!
Not sure why it took me so long to dine at Danjee but I've been missing out. We shared a kimchi pork ribs stew, cold noodles, grilled beef, fried chicken and grilled whole squid. Aside from the squid which was a tad overcooked and chewy, the food was really good and a bit more refined than the other casual Korean joints nearby. Great charcoal flavour in the tender beef. The chicken was crunchy, moist yet not greasy. It came with sweet mustard and chilli sauces for added flavour. Loved the variety of sides (ban chan) which included shredded beef and egg, a rare sight in Sydney! Service was efficient and our food came pretty quickly. The restaurant is spacious and clean. They take bookings online as well and tend to fill up fast most nights, especially Fridays and Saturdays. Not the cheapest Korean place around but worth it for the quality and I'd definitely recommend it.
I came here with a group of girls and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was relatively more quiet to your typical Korean restaurant scene which made it more house warming and calm. I liked how each dish was slightly different to the usual Korean food you'd find elsewhere. The stone pot bibimbap was made with purple rice. The kimchi pancakes had mung bean incorporated. The side dishes were also delicious. The seasoning of the soy fried chicken was really nice, but could have been better if there was a boneless option. Last but not least, the seafood rice cakes and cold rice noodles were really enjoyable to have in combination with everything else. I really like this restaurant because they make their own strawberry soju which was very easily downed. Prices were on the slightly higher end but the food was great quality. Will definitely be coming back.
Located in a little lane (Albion place), Danjee is very popular despite its tucked away location. It offers a good selection of side dishes, BBQ meat and fried chicken. Everything you want and expect from a Korean BBQ really.
I highly recommend the steam pork with radish. It is really nice! Most of dishes are served quite nicely and neatly.
And squid with spicy souce was very delicious
As I am Korean, this restaurant is the best Korean restaurant I have ever tried in Sydney so far. I felt it a bit pricey but at least I have never regretted to pay for it. It is totally worths it! A number of Korean restaurants in Sydney made me down. But this one is :D
Neat and traditional atmosphere, friendly staffs, nice food :D
Best Korean cuisine I've ever had in syd. Cold noodles and lunch bento were so good. Don't forget to order the Korean rice wine too.
Definitely will return & super Recommend!
The restaurant is hidden on the second floor of the building. Decor and ambiance is good. Food was okay if you know what to order. Servers could be a bit more helpful with recommending dishes.
Whatsayme?
Absolutely love the vibes of this Korean joint which is located down a little alley in the city!
Highlights would be the japchae which is a glass noodle dish, the soy fried chicken, and the spicy tofu soup- which anyone would love on a cold day.
One of the best Korean places I've been to, where have you been all these years? Good location and environment, service's fast and side dishes are good
Great place if you want to try Korean food. Personally I love their Kimchi Jjim and its the best one in Sydney! I recommend this place for friends n family!
This Korean restaurant is hidden away down a dodgy looking alley and is surprisingly bigger when you walk in. The menu is nice and diverse and I found that no matter what you order it comes both quickly and deliciously. It's pretty casual with a nice atmosphere and very genuine korean dishes that are generous and not overly expensive. Definitely try it out if you get the chance but because it's open i'd avoid it on a humid day.
Favourite Korean food in Sydney! I've tried so many different Korean restaurants during my 6 years of stay in Sydney, I have to give Danjee top 1, fried chicken, kimchi stew, samgyetang...everything just perfect, you may think they are nothing special, but for the same price, they really make the best Korean cuisine! Very good customer service as well, traditional side dishes, I do think the side dishes can be a bit more variable :)
Love the jap chae, the fried chicken, and the tofu soup at Danjee. The vibe is pretty casual and it's not expensive. A good option for a quick lunch or dinner in the city.
Would definitely go back a really nice restaurant good service and nice clean decor, the place it quite spacious with two separate dining areas, we only tried the pork kim chi hot pot which had tender pork ribs and pork belly slices in a warm kim chi broth, the bimbibab also had a fresh mix of veg including shitake mushrooms, sesame beansprouts and bulgogi. Next time will definitely try cheesy fire chicken and see how that fares.
Service and staff both friendly and quick. I came here for my early bday dinner with friends, ordered sweet and spicy crispy fried chicken, beef japchae, and sweet potato noodle with cold beef broth soup.
The quantity of chicken is good cause it's a whole chicken (15pieces $40), japchae $15 & sweet potato noodle $16 (reg size).
Costing us: $71
Which is good enough to feed on an empty stomach.
NOTE: there's a 2% surcharge on card, if paying by card.
This restaurant been introduce by one of my Korean friend🎎🎎, order the lunch box set for AUD15 per person which is taste good and does offer a miso and green tea along the lunch box set👌🏼
P.S. There are 4x lunch box in the picture
Upon downloading the Free Wines app onto your phone, and visiting a participating restaurant. As long as you meet the minimum spend of said restaurant, you’re eligible for a free bottle of an award-winning wine to enjoy with your meal. I’ll let this handy little infographic explain the process:
I was with a group of 7 and we had to wait >1 hour to be seated at another restaurant but since we were all hungry, we decided to try a friend's suggestion of having korean food at Danjee. Despite a group of 7 and having many people before us, we didn't have to wait long for a table. We only waited 10 minutes! We were escorted to another building that was across from Danjee and didn't realise that it was a fairly large restaurant. I had the bibambap with raw marinated meat. I was disappointed. I assumed the rice would of been hot enough to cook the meat a tiny bit so the whole meal was cold (I'll remember for next time). Next time I'll just order a regular bibambap with a stone bowl. My friend's japchae was delicious and my group of friends and I shared a plate of 'fire chicken' and some fried chicken. The fire chicken... the spicy sauce was delicious! The chicken packs a kick and is also moist. We loved the sauce so much that we scraped the sauce into a small bowl and used it to coat our fried chicken. The fried chicken was crispy, moist and not oily. The service was impeccable because one of my friends accidentally dropped her spoon and the waiter immediately got us a new spoon without us telling him! Best service ever! Would come back again. I didn't get to take any photos because I was hungry.
it was great restaurant i have ever had
the dishes are very clear and Pork belly with Kimchi is so good.
staff and manager are kind and quickly before asking they approached ours
this is one of my best korean restaurant in sydney
Over all a great Korean food restaurant. I regularly go there. Great atmosphere and the japchae is the best I've ever tried there. Would recommend it for Bbq and casseroles. Not so much for soups.
Let's just focus on the food. It's amazing!
Ever since moving down to Sydney, I was yet to find a delightful Korean Hot Pot place.
After voicing my frustration to my friends who were chefs, they introduced me to this place.
Tonight was my first visit, and as usual, I ordered my favourite kimchi hot pot stew with pork belly.
And I must say, it just blew my mind. The soup was soury, just the way I like it, the pork belly, oh my, the pork belly was succulent and the fatty bits literally dissolved in my mouth.
Definitely not the last time I'm here. 3.5 is definitely an understatement!
I ordered Bi bim bap. Didnt taste particularly bad or good but somewhat edible. The service was 5 stars! We had a group of 14 people and he not only attended to our needs but also assisted with the cooking of the bbq meat. He had a very friendly attitude which was welcoming. The food tasted much better because of his service.
We were looking for a place near George Street cinema to have early dinner before the movie and this place was one of the few that opened before 6pm. I was not new to Korean food but never big on fried chicken, so out of ordinary we went for the KFC (aka Korean Fried Chicken). It was a huge plate of piping hot deep fried chicken coated in spices and seasoning. Skin was crispy and thin, meat was chunky and fell off the bones. It was so good we finished the whole plate as well as a bowl of cold potato noodles and complimentary side dishes. I believe this restaurant is run by the same people that own Madang on Pitt street.
Pretty tasty. Only got the soon-dubu jjigae so I need to return and try more dishes to give them a proper review. The dish I got was pretty good. The restaurant is very nice and looks slightly upmarket compared to most Korean restaurants.
The atmosphere is very nice; urbanized korean style interior and clean! The staffs are very friendly with good manner. Nonetheless, I loved the food there the most! Banchan (side dishes) are tasty, i havent tried all the menus yet but, I heard spicky jokbal is really good! I LOVED this beef bbq dish. The price is reasonbly high compared to other restaurants but worthwhile for sure! ;) must try yall!
Inspired by Korean cooking shows and eventhough it was well over 30 degrees celsius in the middle of summer, we decided to stop by and try out this dish, Bul Dak. The location was quite convenient as it was in the middle of Town Hall, and after a quick Google search; it was said that in the whole of Sydney, Danjee were crowned the leader in delivering this fiery dish.
With hopeful hearts, we decided to give it a go.
Walking into the restaurant, the interior design was quite modern and stylish, fully air conditioned and I felt quite comfortable sitting at the table.
The service was good, the staff were quite attentive eventhough it was lunch hour.
With a small tear lolling around in the corner of my eye, I still managed to finish my half of the plate despite having a fairly high tolerance of spicy foods.
So for those who generally can’t handle their spices, I wouldn’t recommend trying this because your mouth will literally feel like it’s on fire (as suggested by the name of the dish) but it’s definitely worth a try if you’re game/into chili foods.
While Danjee is typically known for their fried chicken, their extensive menu has a lot to offer as well. I really think their sole fish is a good and affordable option and generally what I order every time I go back. The japchae is a little on the oily side but the flavour is strong take my tip and order the mushroom one, it's too good! Lastly they do a yukhoe too which I personally don't mind but may be off-putting for some because it is served literally as thinly sliced frozen beef sticks.
Continuing the run of good food karma, we tried Danjee in the CBD. This is a spacious and popular Korean restaurant, which is a little more upmarket than the usual. We ordered the sweet potato noodles with cold beef broth, the stonepot bibim bop and Korean fried chicken with dipping sauces. I'd never tried the noodles before and they were delectable, a fantastic summer dish. The bibim bop and KFC were also really good. The service was efficient and generally friendly (apart from a waitress who clearly had other things on her mind) and the food came very quickly. Would happily come here again.
decidedly more upmarket than the dozen casual Korean places dotted around the city, Danjee serves a solid range of Korean classics. note that the "vegetarian" options marked on the menu often contain seafood, but nevertheless good veggie offerings are found such as mushroom japchae and tofu bibimbap
There are many of these restaurants doted around the CBD but this one was memorable - the food was excellent and quick to be served. The waiters friendly and attentive. If you go there in a group make sure you book well ahead as it gets packed with patrons. Clearly a very popular eatery. Highly recommended.
Catching a film on the Easter long weekend gave me the perfect excuse to revisit Danjee Korean BBQ Restaurant. Located in an alleyway just near Event Cinemas, this Korean BBQ restaurant puts out above average Korean dishes. Even taking their latest reservation (8.30pm) into a mostly empty restaurant (the new normal for the second sitting) saw us receive one of the best kimchi jeon ($28) I’ve had. This crisp and airy spicy pork and pan-fried kimchi pancake was great against complimentary and happily replenished banchan (side dishes), including their standout kimchi.
My other highlight was the dwejigogi dolsot bibimbap ($22). Presented in a super-heated stone bowl, this combination of spicy pork and black wild rice with kimchi, pickled and fresh vegetables, crisp seaweed and a raw egg combined into a very tasty melange. The temperature of earthenware serving vessel gives the rice a desirable crunchy crust. We also ordered bul dak ($48), a hot and spicy chicken dish with tteokbokki (rice cakes), pineapple pieces and a dusting of cheese melted over the top. It’s a particularly fiery dish here, so make good use of the pickled radish to put out the fire in your mouth. We over-ordered and ended up with enough containers of food to enjoy a no-cook dinner the next day. It was all so good, I will not leave it so long between visits again.
Being located at a convenient place, the restaurant gives a fine dine experience with its amicable and welcoming staff. The wait time is very conceivable so thats a plus, although as a personal suggestion there could be more vegetarian options on the list but the existing ones are good too. Presentation of the food is commendable and gives the authentic feeling. Dine in space is clean and tidy, keeping in maneuver the reverance of regulations relevant to the post pandemic guidelines.
Food was excellent. Wasn't busy when we arrived. It was a last minute decision to dine here and we had a 5 month old baby with us. The restaurant is not a pram or accessibility friendly restaurant. The staff didn't seem particularly happy that we needed the pram to leave the baby in at the table (she was sleeping in it, and she can't sit up unsupported in a high chair yet). Besides the pram issues, good food and excellent food service.
Beautiful and spacious restaurant.
However, can be very smoky.
There should be exhaust vent pipe I believe.
And also, we weren't given lettuce for the bbq.
I'm not entirely sure if they are included tho but it should be.
Otherwise, I love their soju with fresh strawberries. 😋
