Excellent food. Casual in atmosphere but refined in taste.
3 entrees: tuna, sourdough, croquette (all excellent but the tuna was the highlight)
Mains: tonnarelli and ragu
Great flavours but the tonnarelli was ill-equipped to soak up all the lovely sauce.
Dessert: panna cotta /w blood orange granita and gelato.
Princess Greedyguts
In the very chic & European laneway of Ash Street is this cafe. One side is the more formal osteria with hot dishes, wine and the other the cafe serving ready made sandwiches, a few dishes of the day and coffee both dine in and takeaway. On this occasion I had coffee & food at the cafe and the coffees are great. There us pizza by the slice which changes daily & this time it was marinated artichokes & salami. The topping was nice but the base was so hard and burnt (black) which was disappointing. The vegetarian frittata of the day was lovely and fluffy. Service is prompt and friendly.

Really authentic Italian experience here with some beautiful dishes. We did the 'feed us' menu @$65pp which didn't disappoint, lots of great dishes and the food kept coming. Included a beautiful pork, fish and pasta dish plus finished up with a lovely panacotta. Recommended!

There is no better pasta in Sydney, all made in house! The menu changes all the time, is super inventive and fresh. I love the wine list with really interesting skin-contact options. Friendly and informed service. Have been back again and again!

It was my second time back. The first time I was there was really good, amazing food and great atmosphere. However this time, the food was only mediocre. We ordered the crab pasta, fish of the day and the spatchcock. For antipasto, we had the tuna tartare and the tongue. Overall, the pasta was really salty, fish and spatchcock was just average. It was such a shame since we love everything before but was so disappointed this time (ps don’t think it’s the restaurant’s fault but we saw a cockroach, but it looks to have came in from the outside)

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and absolutely loved it. The staff were incredible and the food was absolutely divine. It honestly has to be the best Italian we have ever eaten. You cannot go past the gnocchi. We finished the night off with the most amazing tiramisu. Thank you so much to all the staff at Bacco for a beautiful evening. We can’t wait to come back!

We might have caught them on a bad night, but I cannot say good things about the service of Bacco Osteria. Let me go through some problems:
1) we had to wait 15 minutes for a table (we had a reservation), and we had to ask twice for a drinks menu and were not given the tasting menus without asking. The server also said we were going to be moved but weren’t (didn’t understand the hassle cause we said we liked were we were sitting.
2) our server, who I think was not a regular, gave us two additional dishes because she thought we had the $85 tasting menu and had to confirm with us three seperate times which one we had. Though, the extra dishes we had did not correspond with the tasting menu so who knows.
3) Waited 30 mins for a cocktail they forgot.
4) The food was actually quite good, but not incredible. The fish was awesome and the gnocchi was perfect, but the rest had somewhat weird flavours - this is entirely a personal preference thing though of course.
5) we didn’t get asked for dietary requirements or told the ingredients of the dishes we did not order.
Overall, our server seemed kind of clueless. Another girl served us for a bit and she was lovely, and made sure we were looked after. I think on another night it could’ve been great, but a disappointing experience overall.
