Review Nourishing Quarter - Sydney

Jen Lo
Best vegan restaurant in Sydney. Loved everything we had on the menu. Even my daughter enjoyed it. Great call for money too!

I can't praise these guys enough. The staff are incredibly friendly and take the time to educate you about the food and the love that's been invested in creating it. While not being vegan myself, my carnivorous friends have also been turned. Lastly, l also love the delightfully kitsch setting which makes for a fun night out.

I love this place! The food is beautifully tasty and healthy, well presented and well thought out. The menu is excitingly poetic and adds another level to enjoy the nourishing meal you are about to experience! The atmosphere is wonderful, and is enhanced by the outstanding customer service. Highly reccomend to all!

Really tasty food. The biggest gripe I had was the wait times between food. I ordered the nourishing rolls, banh khot, caramelised layers of necessity and congee (which at the time was technically not available, so they were very accommodating in allowing me to order it). I probably waited 30 minutes for the entree, and maybe another 20 minutes until the congee, and maybe another 20 minutes. The food size for the shared meals is quite small, we devoured the nourishing rolls very quickly due to how hungry we were. The menu was somewhat confusing, they should streamline it and include a simple ingredients list at the top to make it easy to order if you don't feel like reading. As I was insanely hungry prior, the wait was painful and I felt a bit sick while waiting for the food. If it weren't for the long wait times I would absolutely return, as the food itself is superb and is one of the best vegan food I've had. Service is friendly and apologetic. If the wait times can be improved I would absolutely return without hesitation.

Delicious. I enjoyed all the meals. Nice flavours, a variety of textures, and friendly service. Thankyou.

Love this place. Great vegan and vegetarian food. Beautiful fusion food - Asian - European and Indian - and quirky decor. Great service. It's small restaurant so booking is highly recommended. They also have two sittings which is a bit of bore as you either have to eat early or late. Sittings are at 18:00 and 20:30. But as it's a small restaurant it's understandable that they want to do that to be profitable. I highly recommend this place for healthy and yet very fresh and tasty food.

Outstanding food, pretty certain it's the best vegan food I've had to date! You really don't feel like you're missing out by not having meat / dairy on the plate. Each dish has been really thought through in terms of taste and nutritional value. Lam the owner is a wonderful guy and the service is amazing. To top it off it's BYO. Absolute winner, i'll be back more than once for sure.

This was my first visit - I'd never been there before and my friend suggested it. We had two types of Vietnamese spring rolls, the little tarts and the noodle salad with tofu. Everything was delicious but I think my favourite was the noodle salad with the tofu. Everything was really fresh and tasted amazing - the ingredients were fresh and well balanced. I'd love to go back and try more dishes but one thing is probably the price - it's not cheap. $26 for a main dish which isn't huge is a bit much as is $10.50 for two spring rolls. if you're used to your moderately priced Thai/Asian restaurants this will be a bit of a letdown. However, the food is well worth it. The restaurant is pretty small and the tables are close together. We were unfortunately placed between two very loud tables and I had to ask my friend to repeat what she'd said on multiple occasions as I simply couldn't hear a word with the two girls on either side of us. Service wasn't the most attentive I've experienced but very friendly. I think we were lucky to get a table as most people seem to book due to the limited space there.

Despite our pho was served a bit cold, food is nice. Fresh ingredients and amazing flavour. Will definitely visit again. The place is small. Booking in advanced is recommended.

The best vegan restaurant I have been to in Sydney, The food is amazing with a great range of choice all of which are great. The owner was really friendly and came out and had a nice informal chat with us about different types of foods to embrace when going vegan and trying to eat less processed foods. The venue decor is quirky. BYO

Such a great, friendly, fully vegan restaurant. We ordered a bunch of dishes and tried a variety of foods such as dumplings, rice paper rolls and tofu. The portions were fairly small for the price but super delicious.

Nourishing Quarter is an absolute hidden gem! This plant based restaurant has created a menu inspired by the flavours of Vietnam with a modern Western twist that is a delight to the palette! The banquet menu will fill you up but leaving you wanting to come back for more. <br/><br/>Course 1: Sweet Angel Wraps (4/5): The texture of the rice paper roll is much softer than your average roll but in a good way, combined with the sweet kumara noodles it almost melts in the mouth. Dip it in the sauce and it's a match made in heaven. <br/><br/>Course 2: Sacred Khot (5/5): My favourite dish of the night! Crispy khot tarts that are soft in the centre and topped with creamy mung bean with coconut undertones paired so beautifully with the sweet and salty "fish sauce"<br/><br/>Course 3: Pretty Dumplings (3/5): These were enjoyable but not the best dumplings I've had. The dumpling sauce was lovely but I enjoyed the other dishes much more. <br/><br/>Course 4: Ancient Pearls (3.5/5): Like a vegan "San choy bow" made with a medley of quinoa, bean curd, mushrooms and sprouts. I did love the crispy bits of tofu found in the mix but overall it wasn't the highlight of the night. <br/><br/>Course 5: Amaranth and Quinoa Noodles (4/5): YUM! I loved this dish! The noodles are mixed in a beautiful light and flavoursome sauce and the crispy tofu strips were full of flavour and crunch that adds a wonderful texture to the dish. <br/><br/>Dessert: Chocolate Cake (4/5): The slice we had was still very icy, I could tell it would have better texture when it was a bit melted but the flavour was there. The chocolate layer on top was dark and rich, the centre was coconuty and light, the bottom layer was sweet from dates and crunchy from almonds. Overall it was lovely! <br/><br/>Will be back for more for sure :)

This place was seriously amazing! The food was delicious... like a must try. I don't write to many reviews but I had to. Every dish just delicious... experience amazing so passionate about the plant based nutrition food. 10/10

This was my first (but definitely not my last) vegan dining experience. I ordered the dumplings and the quinoa noodle salad and was surprised by how delicious and filling the meal was. The meal was a little pricey for Viet food but its worth every dollar.
J
Delicious vegan food, loved every bite (we are not vegetarian or vegan). Recommend coming here with a friend or two so you can order a lot and share because all the dishes are worth trying.

Was a bit of a skeptic at first as I don't eat vegetarian out but the food was amazing. I've never had such tasty and well cooked tofu. Meals were very fragrant and light but filling. Atmosphere was cute and cosy and the service was great. Owner took time to explain menu items and specific ingredients.

This place is highly rated, but I thought the pho was pretty average, the rice paper rolls and the dumplings. The pho was pretty sweet, had no chilli and lacked lime or lemon - maybe they were too busy and forgot to put some in. Dumplings were okay, not sure about the quinoa and were pretty small - also stingy on the sauce. Rice paper rolls had a unique flavour. The wait time was also long, approximately 45 minutes for the entrees. The place is cosy and the owner seems nice but had way better Vietnamese in other places in Surry Hills.

Amazing food!  Amazing taste!  Beautiful presentation.  We shared two entries (Dumplings &<br/>Sacred Knot) and one main (Amaranth & Quimoa Noodles Salad).  The flavours were light, delicate and refreshing.  <br/><br/>The team were very friendly and helpful.  The decor somewhat unusual with an old-world, casual vintage Royal Britannia theme. <br/><br/>I highly recommend this place.  Nourishing Quarter proved to me that eating a vegetarian meal can be very enjoyable for a guy who also  appreciates a good burger.

Quaint and cosy, I recommend this place if you are pursuing an intimate experience. Dimly lit, there is a mood and the tables are close enough to overhear your neighbours' gossip. Although it took a bit of time for each dish to come out it was definitely worth the wait. We started off fresh, with the rice paper rolls containing a pleasant spearmint highlight. I recommend the "sacred khots", which were like egg tarts with julienned veggies. They had a fine crunch but also an intriguing creamy and fluffy texture. The best faux pork belly I have tasted is in this dish called "The caramelised layers of necessity". The faux pork belly had crispy layers that were sweet, salty and even a top fatty layer to imitate pork belly was absolutely well done. The vegan pho broth was healing to my soul without making me feel the usual thirst of a regular beef msg filled broth! Will definitely visit again !
Frankiieshungrytummy
Oh my! What can I say but this is one of the yummiest vegan places I've eaten at next to Bodhi.<br/>Food was absolutely divine and presentation was also beautiful not to mention the decor of the restaurant.<br/>It looks like the inside of a house from the outside that you might just miss it!<br/>This little place gets packed so make sure you either get in early or book yourself a table as it is rather small.<br/>Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow the night we went as there was only one person in the kitchen but that was excused once we tasted the food.<br/>Service was absolutist wonderful and the chef made sure we were looked after.<br/>Would definitely recommend this place and would visit again very soon.<br/>It's located in a place easy to get to if you're driving but otherwise you would need to catch a bus from Central Station.
Leon
Amazing how this restaurant gets 4.6.<br/><br/>In all my reviews, I have mentioned that cafes and restaurants in Sydney have extremely good service but service in Nourishing Quarter is terrible. You need to walk to the counter to ask for menus, order food, get your water and the waitress hides herself in the kitchen or ignores your presence.<br/><br/>Second, the food. How can dumplings be a recommended food here? Can anyone taste that the dumplings are made from packaged ones from supermarkets and cost $14? <br/><br/>The noodle salad is not bad but not special.

We came here with a few vegetarian friends who suggested this place, as they had seen reviews about it saying how good and cheap it was. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Vietnamese, although I do like Pho. <br/><br/>We didn't get the Pho dish at this place, we went for some lettuce cups with some sort of mushroom and lentil filling, quinoa rice noodles and a dish called Caramelised Layers of Nourishing Necessity (a fantastic name for a dish) which had layers of eggplant and tofu layered in a way that reminds me of pork Belly surprisingly. All the dishes certainly tasted very nice, despite me and my partner not being vegetarian it was still very delicious. I really would've liked bigger portions on everything, considering the Caramelised Layers cost over $20 for barely two mouthfuls. <br/><br/>Between the four of us, it wasn't really enough food, but the total came to over $80 which was not what we were expecting considering someone said it would be 'cheap'. Overall a very strange and interesting experience, but I'm not a good judge since I'm not a vegetarian.

I loved this restaurant for so many different reasons! 1) We were able to talk in normal conversational tones and actually hear one another, which is a rarity in a Sydney restaurant on a Friday night. 2) The food was really good - tofu that made you ask, "Is this really tofu?" and a variety of dishes that I haven't seen at other Vietnamese restaurants. 3) The owner (I presume he was the owner) came to our table and explained the ingredients in one of their feature dishes for the evening -he was clearly very passionate about his food and happy to explain ingredients that we probably hadn't tasted before. 4) The decor was very funky and interesting. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would say, relax and enjoy the experience!

Came here with a group of 6 and most were a bit dubious because of the website and the menu (and they're not vegans) but everyone left really satisfied and we agreed to add Nourishing Quarter to our rotation. <br/><br/>My partner and I ordered the pho and this was nice and very filling. Our friends all gravitated towards the noodle salad and scoffed them down happily.<br/><br/>Service is a tad slow but the meals are huge and satisfying. All of us ordered dumplings as a starter but I'd say you can skip them even though they're a tempting safety.
MerryJ
Came across this resto on zomato when we were looking for dinner place on our way to airport. We initially thought we went to the wrong place as there's hardly any signboard and it looks like a western restaurant rather than vietnamese with their quaint deco.<br/><br/>On the waitress's recommendation, we had Angel roll, pretty dumplings, pho-ever soup, noodle salad with crispy beancurd. The noodle salad and crispy beancurd was superb! Love the tangy refreshing sauce and the crispy beancurd was divine! The taste was so good that the boys did not complain even though they were brought to a vegan resto.

What an absolutely delicious dinner! We loved every single mouth full - from the rice-paper roles, to the dumplings, mini tarts, nourishing stack and desert! So flavoursome! Couldn't fault the food or the staff. Will definitely return back soon :)

This is a great restaurant for light healthy vegan Vietnamese food. We had the vermicelli quinoa salad and the pho. I have a he better vegetarian pho elsewhere and was a little disappointed. The vermicelli was very good for a cold salad. This would have made a great lunchtime meal. For being a vegan restaurant I do expect there to be more vegetables though, however the crispy tofu was amazing. Very nice decor and friendly staff, will definitely return to try other items on the menu.
Peony
Always delightful. <br/><br/>The staff are sometimes a bit slow/tentative/vague, but the owners are gorgeous - welcoming, enthusiastic, so happy to be there serving you and sharing their love through food. And the food really is lovely.<br/><br/>The rolls, the dumplings and the vermicelli salad never disappoint. In fact, get anything with the crispy tofu, it is out of this world! The curry is simple and nourishing, not as exciting as the rest of the food.<br/><br/>All this held in a sweet, cosy little cavern with quirky decor that is the cherry on top of this lovingly currated experience.
James
Nice food, but way over priced for what its worth!<br/>Spent $115 for 3 people and not even including dessert. Food all tasted okay but not enough ingredients especially when u paying 19 bucks for a phó. And the soup was lukewarm.<br/>Won't be going back there.

Been here multiple times. When I first came, I absolutely loved this place. How can healthy food taste so good! The mango cheesecake here is divine. I usually get the pho-ever more, bun rieu or passage to India. I've tried everything on the menu. Over the 10 time I've been here, I've noticed a decrease in standard, quality and quantity. I think it may be under new management. -- The Food --  Aromatic Curry Dish with chickpeas, pumpkin, peas, tofu, Amaranth seeds Served with quinoa and salad. The curry was turmeric based. The curry sauce is extremely flavourful for what it is. Goes well with the quinoa. Feel healthier after one meal. But as I mentioned, the standard has decreased compared to when I first came here. Having said that, this curry dish is still good.  If you would like to try this place during the weekend, make sure you make a booking! Overall food is pretty good but I probably won't be back anytime soon... hopefully when I return, the standard and quality will also return

Being in Nourishing Quarter is like being in a vintage furniture shop, except you’re being served delicious Asian food rather than manhandling furniture you’re probably not going to buy. I love the mismatched crockery and the equally mismatched furniture. It just adds to the whole charm of the place.<br/>
Hide And Seek
The focus is on sourcing unique, plant-based, ‘super’ foods. In practice, this means there’s a whole lotta tofu, pumpkin, chickpeas and unusual grains going on, in dishes that would verge on the obscenely wholesome were they not just so damn delicious. So much so, I can even forgive them for naff names such as ‘Sweet Angel Wraps’, ‘Monastic Fried Spring Rolls’ and ‘Sacred Congee’.
Glutenfreewheeler
...The density of the nutrients are so obvious to the eye and to the palate, the textures so gentle and alive, it’s quite overwhelming. Nourishing? Absolutely.
Cappucino
Situated near the Norfolk on Cleveland St, Surry Hills, Nourishing Quarter is close enough to the city to make dinner a viable option after work, but far enough from the city lights that you don't feel as though you're still at work. The perfect place to unwind.
Kitti
The food is full of herbs and rather tasty, although I am very keen to come back and sample some of the other selections to really get a feel for why this place has been so raved about since it opened in August (!!! sweep, sweep that dust from under the rug) of last year. Now that I have been, I expect I will be back, again, and again, and again.
Sydneycool
Our lunch was quinoa noodle salad, humble pie and rice paper rolls – most of the food is gluten free and some dishes are also wheat free.

I'm SOLD. I'm so glad I went. I can't think of a single con (maybe except for the fact that they over charged us for the cake.. i think it's only meant to be $5.5), worth dinning, good food, great service. Will return.

The unique charm of this cosy restaurant, Nourishing Quarter, is the eclectic mismatched vintage crockery, old photographs above the fireplace mantle and mini figurines of Queen Elizabeth II and Buddha. The Eastern and Western influences of the decor extend to the complete vegetarian and vegan menu. My dear friend Miss V is a devout Buddhist so on certain days she can only eat vegetarian food, with that in mind, we opted to go to one of her favourite restaurants. A popular nook on the borderline of Redfern and Surry Hills.  Amaranth and quinoa noodles salad w/ crispy tofu lingerings $26 An Asian-inspired noodle salad with clear quinoa noodles very similar to potato noodles, carrots, salad greens, crunchy beansprouts, Vietnamese mint, roasted nuts, shittake mushrooms, tofu and coriander. It’s tossed in a zesty lime, balsamic vinegar, chilli and sesame oil. I loved how the tofu was marinated in a sweet sauce and soaked up the salad dressing.  Nourishing rolls
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Nourishing Quarter is a new addition to the vegetarian scene but in a fortunate position next to the super-popular Norfolk on Cleveland Street. They have a unique approach in that they fuse the healing properties of Latin American ingredients with exotic Asian and Mediterranean soul foods.
I Ate My Way Through
An extremely unique and eclectic eatery focused on reconnecting, healing, nourishing and flourishing, Nourishing Quarter is widely praised as the best vegetarian restaurant in Sydney. It is so busy that it’s usually wise to make a booking. Offering an interesting fusion of Latin American and Asian cuisine, they are willing to accommodate to any food allergies or sensitivities and create flavourful and healthful food without any meat whatsoever.

Awesome. Totally surprised! In town for the weekend, it was a stumble from our hotel! So impressed, worth every cent and we practically licked our plates!!
Notpaidtowritethis
OVERRATED + OVERPRICED. I've just left the restaurant and can only say that I was disappointed. As other reviewers have pointed out, the food is tasty but overpriced. You can buy similar vegetarian dishes of similar quality at Vietnamese (and other) restaurants for much less. The service is, well, non-existent or luke warm at best... just as our main was - we ordered the Tasty Lemongrass Tofu Strips. The vegies were not "crunchy" as the menu described but served almost cold, and the flavours of the dish lacked the complexity that Vietnamese cuisine can offer. The Sacri Bi Rolls had a unique flavour but at $5.25 each, so they should. The Ancient Pearls were also good but not above average by any means. The seating is uncomfortable and the ambience dull. Nothing here is above average. Oh and the menu is written with such floury self-indulgence that I should have spotted the red flag. I won't return, which is a shame because I live only a few streets away.

Food made from heart.. All about love on the foods... passion... great service and explanation....

Didn't realise vegetarian Vietnamese could be so interesting. Portions are small but very yummy food. Space out the back seemed nicer.

Great food. Just great. We.... Great food. Just great. <br/>We keep coming back. <br/>I'm not even a vego and I love it.

I can't believe how delicious this food was! Can't wait to go back again and again. Also the service is amazing - really friendly staff.

An amazing find. Coming from Melbourne and being a Vegan I was unsure about where to eat on my stay in Sydney. After doing some research I came across the Nourishing Quarter online, and I'm SO glad I did. What a wonderful experience. The cuisine was divine, the atmosphere quaint and quirky, and the food is made with love. The owners of the restaurant are clearly passionate about what they do and a great deal of thought and care is put into the food that is created. The lovely couple (owners) both took time to come to our table and talk us through the menu and their food philosophy. I can not recommend it highly enough. I'll definitely be back on my next trip to Sydney.
Hyggehunter
Clever menu, but overall underwhelming and overpriced. <br/>Nourishing Rolls were the highlight, but the Curry left us mightily disappointed - a few bits of pumpkin, a dash of peas and chickpeas in a very watery and bland sauce. Service was sweet, yet a little scatty. For a huge vego fan and one not so much, we were both left a little deflated.
Asha
Came here because heard so many good things about it however was very disappointed. Don't know how it is justified to charge $14 for 3 rice paper rolls and $25+ each of mains in this place. Even more established restaurants cannot charge this price. The food is very simple and does not cost that much to make. Tofu, quinoa - they are pretty cheap to buy these days. Flavours are pretty much the same. We also waited almost half hour for each dish, which are mainly served raw so not sure why the wait. The staff were very nice, wish I could give a better review but won't be back.
Bree
As a melbournian who embraces a plant-based diet it is always glorious to find a friendly, atmospheric eating spot with gorgeous menu options as well as a comprehensive menu including explanations of the qualities of the foods incorporated into the menu outside of my home city. Highly recommended!
Taty.niki
Cosy but overpriced. Food was good, however not exceptional, and the prices charged were well over what we would have expected to pay for what we were served. $28 for a curry that would have cost about $14 at any Indian restaurant... nothing particularly exceptional however there was nothing particularly wrong with the food either.<br/><br/>Service was fine and food was fine, but won't be returning because it is by no means a special experience for the price paid. (i.e. no good service, no exceptional atmosphere, cramped seating, nothing to justify the price paid)
Rebecca Chen
Reasonably good food in a claustrophobic environment. Came here the other night for dinner. Food was fairly good though not quite as good as on previous visits to this restaurant and could have been warmer in temperature with more generous serving sizes (the pho was lukewarm and came with barely any noodles). What really stood out to me this time was the decor - the environment is fairly quaint with lots of antiques / op shop type decorations and lots of trinkets everywhere which added a vintage / bohemian type feel to the place, however everything was very dusty which made the place feel claustrophobic and unclean. I was placed in a corner table seated right next to an old dress that had been hung up as decoration but it was very dusty which was distracting and a turn-off.
Yeliayhtu
Lovely wholesome, nourishing food. Really rate the food, the menu does not disappoint and is beautifully cooked. The ambience is really nice, although seating is a bit cramped inside - should be spaced out a little more as loud diners can affect the enjoyment of your meal when you're right next to them. Would go again and again and recommend to others definitely. Gold stars.
Likes It A Little
Although the food is SENSATIONAL, the experience is horrible. Terribly cramped making it near impossible to comfortable eat. The service was dreadful. We received one entree in the middle of our mains, this was after waiting near 40 minutes for all meals to get to our table, 3 people sitting there waiting with their meals while the rest sat with nothing for more than half an hour. We were then booted out immediately after eating (before 8pm). Food, excellent. Everything else, terrible.
Sydneysider
Great little find. We had the soups for mains and mango cheesecake for desert. <br/><br/>Soups were flavoursome with generous portions of tofu and quite good value for money. The cheesecake was yummy considering it was dairy & gluten free but did lack the mango taste I was looking for.The tea is great, and is served in cute vintage tea pots. <br/><br/>Service was very friendly and the food arrived together. Cost was approx. $50 for two people.<br/><br/>I would not hesitate to go here again.
Jono C
Very bland. We eat out a lot and mostly vegetarian, while the place is charming and the service was friendly i must say the food was quite forgettable. many of the dishes blurred in both texture and flavour..
Miss Deliziosa
I agree with Nicole's review, quite expensive for the quality you get....the flavours were ok but the service was too slow, as was the wait for each dish to come through considering the majority of the food we ordered was not cooked.....you can get better rice paper rolls at a viet restaurant & twice the size!
Melissa
This place delivers every time. Great value and beautiful food. I love the pretty dumplings and the curry. Rice paper rolls also great. I haven't tried any desserts yet but need to soon!! I'm reluctant posting this review cause its already hard enough to get a table ;)
SpicyCurry
Very yummy!. Went here for dinner with a friend and enjoyed it a lot. It is quiet, but cosy and service is reasonably quick. The food tastes amazing, we had the rice paper rolls, dumplings, noodle salad and pho soup. The pho soup, particularly, was absolutely delicious. Very different tastes to what we expect when we see an Asian soup. Special mention to their use of tofu - I have never had better cooked tofu. They have managed to create wonderful textures and tastes. <br/>Only one criticism - the vintage furniture shop feel is great, but rickety tables are not, so would be great if they fixed this. Ours was wobbling to and fro all night.
Nicole Raynal
The only reason this place is popular is because of the lack of purely vegetarian restaurants in Sydney. We went there on a rainy night and there was a freezing draft running through the restaurant. It was hard to get the waitresses attention and the worst part of the experience was that they brought out the first dish at least 10 minutes before the second one came out. Then we had to wait for each following dish even though they were fully aware that we weren't sharing the mains. The first dishes quickly became cold. The flavours were pleasant but nothing special, the curry was salty and the fried tofu was sloppy. The dishes were pretty pricey for what you actually received. We won't be returning.
Lily_nz80
Beautiful vegetarian food. Decided to try the Nourishing Quarter after reading all the good reviews. The guys in the group were a bit sceptical about a vegetarian dinner but they were all amazed after the first mouthful of rice paper rolls. The banh khot were delicious too. It's hard to find this Vietnamese dish in Sydney city apart from out West. So good we ordered another plate.<br/><br/>The menu isn't large so we ordered almost one of everything except the noodle soups as we were sharing between a large number of us. The curry was flavoursome, the noodle salad was really tasty as was the cheesecake.<br/><br/>The waitress was lovely. The atmosphere is cosy and cute. I would definitely return.
Alan Chan
Absolutely Delicious!. I've eaten at a number of vegetarian/vegan restaurants but this one has definitely been my top favourite. The food is packed full of flavour and very reasonably priced. I love the interior decor and the beautiful warmth as you enter the door. The service is good and very friendly. My favourite dishes include the Passage to India and the Quinoa Noodle Salad with the delicious crinkly tofu strips. They are must haves! And the Three Sisters Rice Paper Rolls, I could easily eat ten of those, they were that good! I will definitely be recommending my friends here!

Fantastic place - check it out. Well worth the trip from town - but book a table first. This top notch health-concious place is small and fills up very quickly. <br/><br/>Food is delicious, portions generous, prices very reasonably. Service is quick. Wait staff are humorous and helpful.<br/><br/>Try it while it's hot!
Anton Vinokurov
Nice place with good selection of food, I was expecting the food to be too spicy as it usually is in most themed places like this one, but i was surprised, it was ok (spicy but bearable), delicious and nutricious dishes. A little pricy for the portion sizes you get but justified I guess with attention to food

LOVE!. I am in love with Nourishing Quarter's food! Best tasting healthy food I have ever had. Had withdrawals when they were no longer at my local Saturday markets - will be going to the restaurant soon! I highly recommend the congee - bursting with flavour!

Me and my partner absolutely love this place. If we could we would 'get nourished' everyday. The food is delicious, healthy and cruelty free. Man I could race about this place for hours. I highly recommend you give it a go!!

Check your bill. We went to NQ tonight. The food was lovely. The service, while friendly, was poor. We had to ask three times to be given wine glasses, then two meals never came and we had to ask twice for them to be brought out. The meals all came at different times. At the end of the night, the bill came to $231 which was ridiculous. We asked the waitress to add it up again and she came to $215. When we questioned the bill she said "that's the cost". So we took a menu and calculated all our dishes and it came to $153. When we told another waiter they had no problem and apologized saying "we have no full time staff". I'm sorry, but full time or part time your staff should at least be able to add up a bill. While the food and atmosphere was nice, we won't be going back.
CeK
YUM!. Great service and lovely food! especially the pretty dumplings
Gaby
From the moment we entered we were greeted with smiles, soft acoustic guitar and an intimate antique decor. The staff could only be friendlier had they invited us back to their own houses. They addressed everyone of our needs and desires both culinarily and personally and made the entire dining experience and unforgettable one. For someone who usually finds it incredibly difficult to eat out due to allergies, vegetarianism and food intolerances, the staff were more than accommodating making recommendations with patience and understanding even to the point where the restaurant owner approached us after our meal to ensure I had not had a reaction. I would certainly reccomed this place as a number one dining spot!! Enjoy and check it out!

Incredible veggie food. Incredible food that could make meat eaters reconsider. Wonderful appetizers "sweet angel wraps" and "sacre-bi rolls". Then the sublime Pretty Dumplings-quinoa grains, dried tofu, chopped veggies, subtle seasonings. All beautifully presented. Courteous service, too.
Michelle.merry86
An amazing experience!. I cannot fault this place!! <br/>I love the mismatched crockery and quaint pictures of the queen all over the place, and the staff were all so lovely. <br/><br/>I had the pretty dumplings, the passage to India (really yummy curry), and the vegan raspberry chocolate cheesecake for desert which was to die for! Loved the mixed grains you get instead of rice with the curry too..<br/><br/>I left feeling totally content and like my body was saying thank you for such a healthy meal!

Recommended. When the only quibble is the small size of the table for a group of three, the rest of the experience must have been very, very good.<br/><br/>As a group of three, we decided to try the daily banquet. Beautiful, flavoursome, thoughtful food. We still managed dessert and the lemon and blueberry cheesecake provided just the right clean taste to complete an excellent meal.<br/><br/>Highly recommended.

As an unashamed omnivore I went to The Nourishing Quarter with a healthy degree of trepidation. I needn't have, the food is divine. What first strikes you is the quirky decor; chintsy porcelain and latin american decor mixed inexplicably with portraits of the Queen. Service was friendly and helpful, they know everything there is to know about their food. Food is tasty and filling; of particular note were the rice paper rolls (try them all), the veggie pie, the curry and the extraordinarily nice desserts which you would NEVER believe were dairy free (but they were). We had an immensely fun evening. The veggie and vegan that I went with were pleased that the omnivore didn't need her threatened kebab afterwards.

Delicious cheesecake BUT expensive!. The cheesecake here is delicious and even better, so much healthier than normal cheesecakes. Only downside is that an average sized slice cost $11!

Great find - interesting, great food and quirky - we enjoyed a great meal, the flavors and textures were amazing (especially liked the lemongrass tofu) - recommend booking and aim for inside table during cooler weather.

A very different dining experience. We had the Pretty Dumplings as an entree, and soups for mains. All of the dishes were subtle yet flavoursome, although none of them particularly stood out. Soups were quite good value for money but the other mains seemed too expensive. The tea is great, and is served in vintage tea pots that you won't find anywhere else. Service was very friendly, although a bit clueless at times, and the food took a very long time to arrive. Overall, this felt more like "home dining" rather than "eating out", and I guess that's part of the experience.

Vegetarian for my brithday!!. What is the world coming to? My wife books a vegetarian restaurant for my birthday. Me? A fundamentalist card carrying carnivore. Was she trying to tell me something? Divorce looming?<br/>Surprisingly, it was nothing of the kind. We started with the aptly named pretty Dumplings and Vietnamese Mung Bean Tarts. The dumplings were very tasty, the sauce with hints of citrus. Apparently they were full of Quinoa and some other vegetarian stuff, but delicious. The Tarts, served on Amaranth leaves were the highlight, crispy edges with a goozy centre, totally unlike the dry offerings regularly served at many vietnamese restaurants. We followed this with a very tasty indian curry followed by a vege pho. Sacrilege really but delightful. A strong broth, presumably made from vegetarian bones with some kind of tofu masquerading as brisket, a little sweet but hearty, clean flavoured and filling.<br/>I left stuffed, it cost a pittance and I didn't even have to grab a souvlaki on the way home.

My girlfriend and I went there for dinner. Surprisingly for Wednesday night, it was very busy. I just wanna sy that the food delicious! We shared "pretty dumplings" and some Indian curry. The staff are lovely. However, there's one thing you should be prepared for - it takes quite a while for ur to arrive! But the food is really nice:)
