Review Zumbo Patisserie Circular Quay - Sydney

Holly Corpe
I had very high hopes for my trip to Zumbo. I was semi-pleased with my adventure. The sweet look absolutely amazing, and, given that we eat with our eyes, this is definitely a win. All desserts items look fabulous. The cakes and macarons are so beautifully presented. I wasn't blown away but the flavours but that may have been because the choice that I made. The fruit mince pie was amazing, but the vanilla slice wasn't that great. I'm sure it's all very complicated and the staff member I spoke to told that it was in MasterChef and everything. I suppose it just wasn't my thing. It was ok. The fruit mince pie was way better.

It's a buy and take away store. No seating area and none of those ridiculously cool things we saw on Netflix's Zumbos. If you're looking for those awesome creations you saw on TV, I didn't see them in the store... Macroons were sweet and very fragile and crumply. Ordered the Coffee + 2 Macroons as that seemed like a good deal. Mango Pastry looks nice but was too sweet for any of us.

Zumbo is one of the best patisseries you can find in Sydney. They sell pretty and delicious looking cakes always nicely presented in their glass displays. A new addition to their Collection is the strawberry & yuzu cream cheesecake which is yummy if you like both flavours combined. Their signature cakes are their V8 series which consists of 8 layers. All the little cakes are quite small and can easily be finished in 3 spoon fulls not a dessert to be shared. Each miniature size dessert and cake size is quite expensive to buy, so not something you would buy regularly. In terms of creativity their behind many other top and new patisseries, there is just too much competition and talent in Sydney. Tip: if go after 5pm, you can pick pastries at half price (excludes cakes and macarons).

Awesome pastry shop! Services are great. You can taste every single layer of the croissant here. And the chocolate brownie is good as well.

Amazing macarons and great selection of cakes including a couple of gluten free options. Everything is almost too pretty to eat... almost!

Came from the states and was told to go here. Macaroons were incredible.

I've tried the croissant and coffee deal for $6 (tipical Italian breakfast 'cappuccino e brioche') and I've enjoyed. The croissant is not too sweet and the cappuccino was good - both for just a reasonable price. All other cakes, macaroons and pastries look amazing so I'll give a try in future!

The pie taste nice but 2 stars because they sold it cold and I had to reheat it in a microwave

Love coming here for edible gifts, whether it be for a birthday, Easter or Christmas. I have always loved Zumbo’s cakes, macarons and pastries. Always consistently good and always pretty to look at! #zumbo

Yum yum yum yum yum! Everything in this store is sooo beautiful. The cakes are insanely awesome and are made with so much detail. The variety of flavours the macaroons come in is wide and full of imagination.
The shop even sells Zumbo’s recipe books which are superb as well. I’ve tried a few of his recipes and had great success. I think it’s all because of how much detail the recipes go in to. It’s really really impressive. My favourite is the popcorn flavour! 🍿

Who doesn’t know Adriano Zumbo. I tried the nutela & creme brulee macarons. They are perfect, as usual. I’m not a fan of sweet dessert but this one is an exception.

I love zumbo desserts so when I walked past and saw it was super close to where I have to work some days, I was cheering.
Super close to Circular Quay station so is easy to get to.
They had some newbies for mother's day so couldn't help but try one of them and it was just divine!
The service is really good too and prices are good as you get something which is super tasty not to mention pretty.
Would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

What can I say? I love Zumbo. I devoured the salted caramel old fashioned ginger pudding zonut. I can't rate it high enough. Creamy, sweet and crunchy. I tried the macarons too. My favourite is the pistachio but the special candy cane one was delicious too.

This store is located into the nw Gateway building for perfect if you are around circular quay or if you want to treat yourself before boarding into the Ferry. I only have the chance (so far) to try one of their dessert which was the Dj chococo caramel / chocolate sucre shell, soft sea caramel, chocolate cake , chocolate ganache and caramel choc milk whipped ganache. I am a huge fan of caramel and it was really good! Some would say that it was too rich or dense but for me it has to be when you order a dessert with caramel. I am looking forward to try their V8 cube desserts.

Having a sweet-tooth, I was very excited to try Zumbo's cakes. What I love most in this place is the presentation of their cakes. They are made to perfection, every detail, every corner, angle..everything is amazing. So creative, colorful and flavourful. Their macarons (Zumbarons) are packed with flavours and are very chewy which I loved. I also had my birthday cake from here, but forgot what is's called but it's in the picture! It was perfect. Haha! Loved it here and will absolutely try more cakes next time. Although I wished they have a nice area to sit down and have dine-in.

With Zumbo having many indulgences to choose from it was a hard choice for me to pick something. Eventually i settled for the decorated fondant. It was very yummy and i can't wait to try something new again next time. Customer service was very good, the lady serving me was very friendly.

Being right next door to our office block, Adriano Zumbo has been the to go to patisserie for birthday cakes. Despite being only a low ley desserts enthusiast, countless of times has this foodie browsed the selection of goodies and marveled at the intricacies of its design.

The store front in Gateway conveniently faces Circular Quay station and is easy to spot with its flamboyant pink accents. Floor space is limited and during busy periods you may need to wriggle through the crowds to have a closer look at the desserts.

The selection I believe operates on a cycle, and as such there is always a new variety in store or one I've never took notice of. The cakes themselves never dissappoint and Adriano Zumbo sure knows how to create zesty flavours that leave you wanting more and not like you've consumed a tablespoon of raw sugar. The last piece of the passionfruit lemon tart was hard fought for amongst the team.

I'll be back next time.

Zumbo V8 Vanilla Cake Review. An interesting cake both visually and gastronomically. It is 8 layers of vanilla chantilly, toasted vanilla brulee, vanilla water gel, vanilla macaron, vanilla almond crunch, vanilla dacquoise, vanilla ganache and vanilla glaze. Cutting this cake into half enabled me to view this complex structure firsthand. Biting into this cake led me to an explosion of complex textures and subtle nuances of flavours. The water gel gave a slightly fruity tang to the cake while the dacquoise and macaron gave a nutty feel. The entire cake was really tasty yet it is only suitable as an occasional luxury. It is currently 10AUD per single serving. Would recommend to those seeking to taste the complexity of vanilla in different forms.

Tried the chocolate and cheese cake😍 the chocolate was one of the best I've tasted! Really loved the texture and the flavours of the chocolate. The cheese cake was also creamy with a touch of ginger in the pastry🖒

Everyone loves Zumbo and my go to are the Zumbarons. My favorite flavors on offer this week are the finger bun and toasted marshmallow. This store has a good selection and is in a great location at circular quay.

Cute store offering all the favourite zumbo cakes and favourites. The customer service is fast and very popular store. I highly recommend the macarons and cheese slice cake.

Adriano Zumbo's food empire is everywhere in Sydney, whether you are in the CBD or in the suburbs. I am looking for macarons which do not stick on my teeth and hoping that my second visit to a AZ patisserie will be much better than the first.

Unfortunately, the zumbarons are absolutely disappointing. The crust is hard and the filling is overly sticky. I hope AZ can spend more time overseeing the quality of his patisserie and less time on TV.

The Zumbo empire expands. And why not? I think the fame is not (only) based on his appearances on Masterchef and then his own dessert competition show, but because he makes beautiful pastries. I stopped in for a look. I didn’t know Zumbo was doing savoury. I grabbed a pate brisee tart, with pumpkin and pine nuts. My god. The pastry (as expected from a pastry chef of this quality) was delicious, buttery and crispy and falling apart in all the right places. Instead of six bucks, this is the kind of thing that could be considered a high-end dining appetizer at double the price.

Zumbo is spreading like wildfire, and tbh the more access I have to these creations the better. Opened in the new Gateway complex this newy is decked out with a huge collection of pastries and macarons in all the flavours!! The salted caramel v8 mini is always a winner, the Nutella macarons are the best I've had, and some of the cakes like the chocolate fondant are so meticulously decorated you'll feel bad for taking a bite. Zumbo is the pastry master and his creations are always on point!

CUTE MACARONS!

Always wanted to try one of Zumbo's macarons because it looks really colorful and cute.

Tried it but kind of have a love-hate relationship with it.
Flavors tried : fairy bread zumbaron & salted popcorn zumbaron

I love the texture of the macarons, how crunchy and crispy the shell is.

But I'm kind of disappointed with the macarons fillings. I like paste-like fillings on my macarons, the kind that is solid and dense.

I don't like fillings that are made out of jams or something soft and creamy.

Would I come back? Maybe I'll try other dessert that they have, but not their macarons.

Always a good experience at zumbo. Love the passionfruit tart! And I don't even like passionfruit usually. And the macaroons are great too! Will be coming back to try more of the zumbo lovely desserts!

Need a sugar hit late afternoon, what's better than a couple of Zumbo macaroons. Super handy location right opposite the Circular Quay Station. The products are pretty much same as all their stores. The service at this one is friendly & efficient, I was literally in & out in matter of minutes.

Every sweet tooth's dream is to walk into Zumbos. All the desserts are so delicate and beautifully presented. I tried the V5 Vanilla or was it V8? Either way it was amazing and so many layers of delicious goodness. I loved the almond crunch layer!

I've been an ardent Zumbo fan ever since I watched him on Masterchef Australia giving the contestants the massive Macaron Tower challenge.

I like how all the Zumbo outlets are so compact, yet catch your eye (because of the name of course) and offer a great variety of desserts.

I specifically went there for the macarons- Zumboron. I am a die-hard chocolate lover and chose to try the Nutella and Milo Zumborons. The Zumborons were definitely "melt in the mouth" material.

Definitely going back there for more flavours! SOON.

The Zumbo juggernaut keeps rolling on! In a prime position within the Gateway food court, all the food outlets look nice as recently renovated and opened now.

In the airy store, all the cabinets are filled with delicious looking cakes, Zumbarons, and Zonuts. The service is quick and helpful. I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted and didn't want to be a total glutton! I chose the Decorated Fondant. It was a flourless chocolate cake topped with delicious treats. The cake was rich, dense and extremely indulgent. It was a bit much to eat in one sitting but managed to enjoy it as an afternoon treat. I also enjoyed the multi-coloured Zumbaron on top. It was quite whimsical to look at. I also got a Golden Zonut Time. This is their take on a cronut with the flavours of a gaytime. I think they achieved this and the filling was oozy and delicious. The cronut was nice and crunchy.
The Next Rush
Woohoo grabbed these babies during their weekly “Two Tart Tuesdays” promo - so I took advantage of this steal and indulged. Basically by one tart and get the second one half price. Scored these 2 babies for just $13.50 instead of the near twenty bucks they usually command – awww snap!

You have to try these little mofos. I warmed up the pallette with the PARIS-BREST tart!!! Choux pastry with a crunchy hazelnute sablee (the richest of French short pastry crusts) with a hazelnute crème and liquid praline centre – OHHH my good god! YOU – MUST – TRY – THISSSS!!
BrunchQueen
So many wonderful options to choose from. Everything was so colourful and well presented. The macaroons were good value and tasted delicious. They were soft and full of flavour.
