Friendly staff, amazing food and drinks at reasonable prices. Rooftop bar is perfect to enjoy a sunny afternoon. One of my favourites in the city.

So many stairs, you will be a sweaty mess in summer if you go to the top. But the rooftop is really cool and worth it. Drinks are a good price. Food is standard pub fare stuff. The crowd is more laid-back than most bars in this part of town.

Phenomenal hospitality! Great venue with great food and service was awesome. Had everything - over the levels, relax have quite meal, take in the rooftop or be amongst the bustle! Spoke with the publican who is more than happy to have a chat. Perfect, well done!

My favourite pub in Sydney. Good old fashioned bar with no pretentious drinks or food on the menu. Grant & Pete are world class publicans who understand what makes the punters tick. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're after a fresh schooey of Carlton after a hard days graft in the city then look no further. The untouched interior takes me back to a simpler time when a man could have a bet on the horses and not be hassled by discerning Sydney vapers. Now I love garnish on my food as much as the next man, however on a bowl chips I feel a tad unnecessary, but other than that it is superb!

Had a birthday party event and booked out level 2. The staff did an amazing job and were extremely helpful. Level 2 was roomy and had space for people to sit down and also dance.

The rooftop bar is hard to beat. Super low key but just great to be outdoors. Lots of stairs to climb!

We were looking for a nice pub at close to end of the lunch hour.
Menu was quite limited and we both opted for the safe option of a chicken schnitzel, chips and salad. It was OK, a mountain of chips and a nice little salad.
Not sure if there is a lift, but there were lots of stairs to encounter, FYI, if you're mobility impaired.

Reputedly one of Sydney's oldest pubs and certainly one of its most dated. This is a superbly located venue that is crying out for a refurb and surely it's only a matter of time before it gets just that. Until then expect nasty carpets, garish lighting and cheapish lager. The roof terrace looks passable in the pictures but was unfortunately shut on the day we visited.
Great rooftop at the Metro... after work favourite for a drink (or even a sneaky lunch time drink). A bit of a workout to walk up so many flights of stairs but it's worth it once your at the top.

One of the few rooftop bars in sydney and this one is great!

I know of a few events that run at the Metropolitan Hotel. My friend often runs match making events at Metropolitan Hotel. I attended another event that looks live improv theatre but there's other workshops like confidence coaching. . It's a dingy looking pub, with reasonably priced drinks and killer sweet potato fries with a side of sweet chili sauce and sour cream ($9). The chips have a nice bit of crunch and saltiness. Stop by for a casual drink if you want a quiet pub (or random speed dating).

At the end of the day size does matter (once again). The sliders were good, but could be improved and they could probably raise the price a little and add another slider to make the meal bigger but also to assist with presentation. Take some off the green off it and it’d be a perfect little slider. The Pork Crackling is still a good idea, however it needs to be improved and would then definitely go well with a cold one.

The Metropolitan Hotel has been around for a long long time - in fact since 1834. It's probably best described as a country pub in the city. We started with a lovely serving of salt and pepper calamari. It had great flavours and the nam jim mayonnaise that came with it was a nice touch - you can never go wrong with nam jim!

...looking for a laid back pub to drink with some work mates or some friends on a Friday evening then this pub is perfect for you.

Terrible. We had a booking at 1pm. We turned up and the sour faced waitress argued with us that we had a booking at 12:30 and since we were late we didn't have a table and had to sit up on the roof in the wet and cold. We've waited more than 45 mins for our food. My wine was warm. Don't bother coming to this place!

Dont bother going here. Went here for a colleagues farewell lunch. Took well over an hour to deliver the food, 6 orders never arrived due to staff not being bothered to take the order to the kitchen. When asked where the meals were the staff didnt care and even questioned that we had ordered. Dont waste your time and money at this venue!

Rooftop!. Awesome rooftop to bask in the sun, place has been renovated nicely - Sweeney's could take a leaf out their book.

Tried the ribs which were average but other menu items have been great!

Staff are attentive and polite.

Just reopened, fresh paint, carpet and attitude. Really friendly, quiet enough to hear each other talk, simple food menu, cold beer. I suspect this will become a favourite for many an after work ale. Recommended.
