They say good things in come in small packages. This small outlet serves excellent Indonesian street food. Located on Foveaux Street in Surry Hills. The service is very good.

We came as a group here and got to experience a lot of the menu. Their signature item as the restaurant’s name suggests is their Sate. We sampled all 4 options which were chicken, pork, lamb, and vegetarian. All were lovely and the pork definitely had the spiciest kick to it. I enjoyed the lamb and chicken skewers the most. The Fried Chicken was mouthwatering. I also enjoyed the Fried Mushrooms a lot. Crunchy on the outside with a nice pop of mushroom in the middle. Their Haus Style Gado Gado is an Indonesian modern take of a vegetarian Caesar salad. Really fresh and tasty. The snack menu pairs well with the Asian beers they have on offer. We finished off with the Deep Fried Banana. These bite sized pieces of goodness burst with sweetness and served with a pandan coconut sauce.

It’s a great place to enjoy a snack or a full meal.

Sate Haus is an Indonesian restaurant that specialises in sate skewers. In Indonesian, the word “satay” is actually pronounced “sate” hence it is called sate haus and of course “haus” is a play on the word house. Dustin and Philip are the owners and we were privileged to meet Dustin who hosted us and honestly one of the warmest and friendliest owners I’ve met. There is a hand painted mural that depicts their incredible journeys which I thought was beautiful and interesting.

Presented:
•Chicken skewers
•Beef skewers
•Pork belly skewers
•Vegetarian skewers
•Turmeric rice
•Coconut rice
•Gado gado salad
•French fries
•Glass of rose

My favourites were the pork belly skewers smothered in their delicious housemade peanut sauce with turmeric rice and gado gado salad. The pork belly skewers packed more of a punch with its spice and grilled nicely which went so well with the turmeric rice. The gado gado salad was surprisingly tasty and it was mixed in with Sate Haus’ special peanut sauce. Everything was fresh and marinated in house on the day and the atmosphere was casual and laid back. Grab a beer or glass of rose and enjoy the good vibes.

Thank you to @fcba x @satehaus for the invite!

I dined here on a Wednesday night as part of a foodie event (thanks to FCBA for organising). We were lucky enough to try a spread of most items on the menu including:

- chicken skewers with sate sauce
- spicy pork skewers
- gado gado salad
- turmeric rice
- coconut rice
- fries with spicy mayo

Everything is made in-house in their open kitchen. I thought the sate sauce was rich in flavour and worked well with all the dishes we were served. The pork skewers had a great amount of spice for my personal liking but there was extra chilli on the side for those who crave an extra spice hit.
It was my first time trying a gado gado salad but i thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a good mixture of textures with the egg, green beans and thick sate sauce.

Overall, I liked the selection of menu items on offer. It is a nice place for a cheap and cheerful meal before a night out on the town.

I love a grilled meat skewer and even better when the skewer can be smothered in a delicious peanut sate sauce.

Sate Haus, the latest addition in Surry Hills, is dishing up Indonesian street food. Owner Dustin started Sate Haus with a vision to create a relaxed, chilled out venue with an Indonesian vibe where friends can casually hang out and enjoy some delicious skewers whilst washing it down with a beer or wine (I recommend the house rose) and you got yourself a sate party!

Choose from chicken, pork or veggie skewers which are all cooked to order. The pork belly skewers are marinated in a spicy manadonese sauce which give them a fiery kick! The sate sauce is made fresh daily, you can really taste the peanuts and aromatic spices in the sauce. It’s hands down the best sate sauce I’ve had in Sydney!

We also tried the gado gado salad (Indonesian speciality made with layered veggies, egg and sate sauce) and the sate haus fries served with sate or chilli mayo sauce. There is also a choice of turmeric or coconut rice to accompany your skewers.

Don’t forget to check out the awesome graffiti wall inside and try and spot the names of the owner’s kids and other halves, fave sports heroes and movie stars plus some sate Haus inspirational ‘inspo’ quotes. Also, spot owner Dustin’s face on the graffiti wall and on the beer mugs! I love the personal touches at the Sate Haus.

A big thanks Sate Haus for supplying this awesome feed.

Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views and opinions expressed above are my own.

Unwind this weekend with some Indonesian sate skewers and drinks! This was the first time I’ve had Indonesian food and I must say their skewers were marinated and grilled perfectly and dipped with their signature peanut sauce 🥜 it’s so flavourful! If you like spicy 🌶 then I’d recommend adding the manadonese spicy sauce on top!

Featured: •Chicken sate skewers🍗 •Pork sate skewers🥓 •Veggie sate skewers🥒 •Gado Gado salad 🥗

Thanks Sate Haus and FCBA for the invite!

Indonesian style satay.

Venue:
54 favoux street, love the wall art, there is also scripture from Matthew chapter 19: verse 26 written on the right hand side corner of the wall.

Service:
Very basic but friendly.

Food & Drink:
Prost to start with.
Indonesian lager with triple hop and triple cold brew through 28 days maturation process.
Taste quite refreshing to me.

sate ayam ( chicken satay ) $16
5 pieces came with peanut sauce.the best peanut sauce to date in any Indonesian restaurant.
For lunch, Rice is included, but dinner you have to buy separate.
I choose coconut rice instead.
Rice was soft( ratio of water is way too much !) however the flavour was spot on, only the texture I don’t like.

Sate Babi ( pork satay)
Love the texture and flavour.
The only thing that the sauce, spicy manadonese style sauce was a little sour rather than spicy.
Otherwise it was good.

I have very little experience with Indonesian food outside of Ayam Goreng 99 and so far Indonesian food hasn't disappointed!! I love Sate Haus so much!! The chicken sate is EXCELLENT! I honestly had no opinions about peanut sauce but after having Indonesian food it might just be one of my favourite sauces ever. The pork sate was ALSO EXCELLENT! I don't eat pork much but I really loved this one. It was juicy and tender and good and wow. Also got the yellow rice. So good with chicken sate I promise.

Attended here with Red on a Groupon recently. A great selection of saté sticks available, we chose five each of the chicken, pork belly and lamb. All were cooked perfectly and mouth-wateringly tasty. Next time we would definitely get one of the side dishes of rice. The fried mushrooms were nicely cooked, juicy and a good portion. There was a good selection of beer and craft beer available. Next time I’m keen to try their Gado Gado.

Missing that Saté goodness in your life? Saté Haus has you covered! Absolutely delicious with super tasty peanut sauce provided on the side to allow for as much or as little coverage as you want. I will be back here again! (especially as the stores bearded man logo is actually a real person?!)

Great sate place. Not traditional but definitely tasty. Got a Groupon voucher which was definitely worth it. $58 for 30 sticks and 4 alcoholic drinks.
