Review Bar Pho - Sydney

Jimmy LEE
This Pho restaurant is pretty closed to CBD and in walking distance from Circular Quay station. I guess other food may be better, but Pho was a bit disappointing because of quality and taste of broth in a Pho. - It was a bit mild and plain in comparison with other Vietnamese restaurants selling Pho at the similar price - This Pho could be better if the broth was kept boiling in low heat until the meats fully flavor the broth. This restaurant accepts Amex but they would charge you additional 1.5% so it would be good to be aware of this. Not recommended for Pho as of 20 July 2022

I tried due to some good reviews. I feel very disappointed of the soup. The soup is too dilute and sweet. Customers should not accept poor quality of soup like this so that the restaurant could improve their quality.

One of my favourite food court stores. The Vietnamese food here is delicious and super healthy. You can tell that the ingredients are excellent quality and they don't use MSG. The servings are generous. If you are after something tasty and healthy have one of the salads. Otherwise the pho is awesome. If you're feeling under the weather.. Definitely definitely have the Ginger Chicken noodle soup.

Quick efficient and tasty food. I always get the large master beef pho which is supposedly cooked for 18 hours and given how it tastes I guess it is probably true. A regular spot that I eat at during lunch hours though try to get there earlier around 12 as the food court does get quite busy.

As someone that loves loads and loads of flavours, the pho soup base was a bit disappointing. It's very light and feels somewhat diluted. It has a good portion size though. It's a very popular restaurant within the food court so do prepare to wait a while for your food during the lunch rush hour.

I had the master beef pho here today. Very quick even though it was a pretty busy lunchtime. The serving size was good too with a good amount of meat. The actual stock was nice but not great comparing to others I have had.

This place is consistently high quality. The broth is flavoursome and the ingredients fresh. I highly recommend the master beef pho. They use two different types of beef and both are tender and you can tell not cheap cuts.

Tasty pho from their "master beef stock". Even better when you add the option of bone marrow. Their large serving is quite generous and don't forget to add their home made chilli sauce for an extra kick to the flavour! Price wise is reasonable given the quality is better than most other places, but the extras can all add up when they are $2.50 each. (most other place charge $1 at most for extras such as beef balls). Service quality has improved a lot since the early days and is now consistently fast l, friendly and professional. All in all this is still one of my favourite places to go for pho cravings!

Since Bar Pho opened at the Bondi Markets many years ago our family has not missed a Saturday. A bowl of Pho from Tina and her crew is now one of our reasons to live. Bar Pho’s pho is nourishment, medicine and joy. The ingredients are fresh, the best quality and in perfect ratio. Above all the Bar Pho staff are an essential part of our community and talking with them is as good as the food they produce.

Had the worse chicken pho I've ever eaten in my life. The soup was extremely oily to the extent that it felt like there was 20% oil in my soup. Also the chicken broth taste was non existent. At 14.5 as well for such poor quality food i would not recommend to anyone. Also have to caveat this with it may be because I ate lunch late at 230 however I would rather they just say they sold out.

One of my favourite Phos in Sydney.
Delicious broth, fresh quality produce, friendly staff.
I ❤ they have daikon noodles available for a lighter option.
Absolutely perfect on a cold winters morning in the Bondi farmers market too.
Tortuguita Comiendo
Great that they have vegetarian option which is actually vegetarian with a vegetable broth. The vegetarian pho did not taste like pho but it was delicious full of mushrooms, carrots and radish. A bit expensive but that's city prices

I was a bit disappointed with this place as the line was super long so was expecting really good food.
Unfortunately the rice paper rolls were quite bland and mainly filled with noodles.
If you look at them from the top it looks like they're jam packed with lots of delicious ingredients but sadly not.
The service was good though but probably won't go back.

I have created a Zomato account just to write a review for this place. That’s how bad it is. I come from a Vietnamese background and the pho here is an absolute mockery of our cuisine. The fatty broth has no trace of authentic pho flavour and leaves a oily aftertaste in the mouth. I have never been let down by a bowl of pho until today. You have been warned!!

Avid and experienced pho eater. Excellent broth, meat selection on the beet pho is delicious. Best option for miles.

Quick service and nice staff.

I had high hopes for this pho, I was craving one so badly so thought I'd try somewhere new.... I was disappointed but not defeated. PROS - noodles were springy and fine and moreish, the brisket was thinly sliced and melted in the mouth. CONS - broth was bland, needed salt and lacked that signature pho aniseed flavour, almost like they've modernised it in a bad way. Rare beef was a bit chewey. They also garnish it with sliced shallots and they were tough. Onion works better. Will I go back, nope. Cured my hangover though so all is not lost.

I have the beef pho whenever I'm at the carriageworks farmers markets, and it never disappoints. There is always a great amount of beef, lots of fresh noodles and the broth is always tasty, warming and light. Nice selection of condiments, but make sure you taste the chilli oil before adding too much!

Pho beef is not bad, its more towards western palette, small condiments and a bit pricey. 💸💸💸 However the staff were friendly. 😊😊😊 Will come back to try the others.

This is my fave lunch spot - warming pho in winter and crispy salads in summer! The food is so fresh and full of flavour and the staff are always super friendly. My favourites are the pork salad and rice paper rolls 😋😋😋

It's all about that master stock beef pho, which is full of flavour and comes with all the right condiments/extras. They have other things on the menu but I doubt I'll ever order something other than the pho.

Knocking off half a point purely because house-made iced tea would make this the absolute perfect pho place ;)

Pho does taste homemade and is delicious. However I've experienced beef not tasting very fresh and having a smell a few times when eating here on Mondays.

My girlfriend and I visited after having craved pho for weeks. We have been looking for somewhere that provides a good ratio of meat to noodles to soup. This is one of the few places that are willing to change their orders to make customers happy.

The flavour of the broth was deep and complex, the beef tender and flavoursome and the sides fresh and crisp. The flavour of the broth is no doubt due to the lengthy process used. It also doesn't leave you feeling off like some of the cheaper places do. We will definitely be coming back!

The main thing you’ll want to order at Bar Pho is their Master Beef pho. They offer this in 2 sizes – small for $9 and large for $12.50. Obviously go for the large, as I have seen the small bowl and it is super small, whilst the large bowl is normal sized, and quite honestly, is not very dense at all.

Can't believe this place would use phó in the name... It's the last place I'd want to eat phó, I'd rather take the day off work, train to Bankstown and eat decent phó there. The soup is too sweet and too much of it, very poor noodles/meat ratio @ all. Then they provided an extra small serving of bean sprout!
Littlefoodie
Pretty good pho but not the best.
$12.50 for pho would be too expensive in suburban areas but considering it is in the CBD hub (everything is overpriced here) the food is pretty good.
Chilli is actually chilli so be prepared. Also my friends ordered the salad and it was lacking in flavour so i'd probably stick with ordering the master beef pho :)

The Beef Pho I had delicious. Wish it was hotter and the addition of purchased meatballs turned out to be just one meatball. Apart from that the stock was flavoursome and tasty.

Tried their Beef pho last weekend at Finders Keepers market last Saturday. Chilli sauce was very hot & spicy (use a few droplets and you'll be fine). The soup smelled refreshing, tasted fresh and had no MSG. Friendly service. Will find time to visit their CBD outlet. :)

Found this little gem in The Wintergarden foodcourt. I ordered the Chicken and Mint Salad, which was light, fresh and filling. Prices are great and staff are efficient and friendly. Will definitely be a regular, especially in the winter due to their selection of pho.

Bar Pho, who make one of my favourite Pho in Sydney have stepped up from markets and pop-ups to a permanent location at The Wintergarden, a posh food court conveniently located close to my office. A proper shop means a bigger menu. Apart from their awesome beef pho, there are a couple more soup options, as well as salads, rolls and rice paper rolls. All of their food is MSG-free and most is gluten-free as well. The first time I had a big bowl of Master Pho with a rich, flavoursome broth cooked for 18 hours, plus lots of fatty tender grass-fed beef and the usual suspects. I ordered mine without noodles and extra marrow and left completely satisfied.

Bar Pho used to appear at various Sydney markets and has now set up permanently at Wintergarden. There are 4 different pho (including a vegetarian) and 4 different salads as well as rice paper rolls. Pho comes in two sizes, large is very generous. Lovely simple fresh Vietnamese and good quality ingredients.
