Review The Corner - Sydney

Anakin Knight
Bourke Street Bakery is one of the best places to have breakfast/brunch. A good cozy ambience with very tasty food. Been here twice and got very freshly baked crispy yet soft dishes. I had croissant with jam once and veggie sandwich the other time. Definitely a 10.

The long queue at breakfast or lunchtime is a pretty good indicator why this is a Surry Hills institution. Definitely a must visit if you are looking for pastries, bread or a coffee. The pies, sausage rolls, and croissants are excellent and if you have a sweet tooth I recommend the chocolate sour cherry cookie, lemon curd tart, and the ginger crème broulee are excellent choices. It’s takeaway only so grab a picnic rug and enjoy the food nearby on the grass. And to avoid the long queue, best to go before 12pm!

I had a lemon curd tart and ginger brûlée tart . Love how the ginger tart tasted. It’s not overpowering sweet nor the texture is different. It has a delicate crispy texture and crunchy top layer. Overall it was good. Not the fan of the lemon tart, although the lemon in the middle is so smooth, the pastry is crunchy and perfectly blended not too sweet. I still prefer the ginger. It is quite on the pricey side though. The tarts are $6 and the chocolate drink is $5 😳 !

Quiet little corner spot. I noticed a queue but it moves fast so have your order ready. Be early or things will be sold out. Great coffee, delicious sourdough bread, and friendly staff.
Andreea Amarinei
Lovely place with nice staff and yummy treats. The red wine brisket pie was amazing, and the coffee is one of my favourite in Sydney. There was quite a line when we went but it was worth the wait. Will happily be back again to try more of their food for brunch as they look so good. Currently only doing takeaway but had a nice picnic at the nearby park

Excellent quiche, egg flavour was soft on the inside with a hard but not flaky crust. Perfect quiche. The croissants were amazing and the coffees went well with them all. Pastries to die for.
Neal
I love the Bourke St Bakery. I have often had a coffee and something to eat after a run, sitting in the park opposite. The food is great, the service is just as great. I love everything about the place. Well worth a visit.
Jason Lau
Pastries to die for. Loved eating their crossiant and pear danish! This place is definitely worth the line up.

I'm guessing that this store is the original Bourke St Bakery and it was a cut above the other branches that I've been to. The croissant was much better - only somewhat flaky and buttery but good for the price - and the coffee was heavy and syrupy but still creamy. Still serving the mid market rather than being a fancy bakery but doing it very well.
Yqyricky
I tried the combination of chocolate milk, pork sausage roll and ginger tart. They are so good!!! No wonder it is rated so high!
Yue Wang
This bakery truly deserves high rate! We had their signature sausage roll, ginger tart, custard tart, ricotta cheese cake. Really good!

Found this gem since 2010, a decade later this is pace only going stronger and still as delicious. My favourite is the ginger brûlée tart which has a slight hint of ginger and perfect for afternoon tea with coffee.

🥧Passionfruit Meringue ($5.5)<br/>🍪Dark Chocolate and sour cherry cookie ($4)<br/><br/>A small corner bakery, very charming and humble. Some outdoor seating but the baked goods are also good to takeaway for a snack.<br/><br/>Both of the treats were very nice for afternoon tea. The Dark chocolate cookie was so rich and I've never had a cookie with cherry🍒 before! I always love having meringue and the passionfruit was a perfect contrast with the sweetness. We also got a small loaf of sourdough which tasted nice with dinner 🥰
Kim My
Such an impressive ginger brûlée tart! I would definitely recommend this little cafe shop to anyone looking for vintage vibe with good desserts 😉
Croissant Addict
Saw some mixed reviews about their signature ginger brulee tart, and decided to see for myself. So glad I did. The ginger taste was subtle but pronounced enough to know that it was used. Kind of a beautiful collaboration between gingerbread and a custard tart. Absolutely enjoyed it.

Bourke Street Bakery continues to attract crowds and for good reason Pies are delicious. Limited seating. <br/><br/>its a shame the construction really lets the ambiance down It really is an eye sore. <br/><br/>I wouldnt recommend as a place to visit and relax although it is great if you want a quick stop for a delicious pie or pastry. <br/>
Sonja Dawkins
Famous for a reason! Great coffee, sweets and savoury pastries. Seating is on the sidewalk so it can feel a bit tight but it's better since the construction on Devonshire has lighten up.
Benitta
Best place for pies and coffee. The place is all the time crowded and their service is good too. The staff are polite and friendly. They have bacon pie , chicken pie and a variety of cakes.
Srslyfoods
This is an old bakery but their breads and cakes are very delicious. Their store is small, but you can order takeaway or just sit/stand outside. The Ginger Brulee Tarts are phenomenal and is unique in it's own charm.

Perhaps I just tried out all the bad stuff but I was unfortunately very underwhelmed and dissapointed with what I ate.<br/><br/>I bought three of their speciality tarts, although I forget the names, there was a fig creme brulee, a Lemond curd tart and a pecan(?) and chocolate tart. None of them were disgusting or badly cooked but the flavour combinations simply fell flat for me for all of them.<br/><br/>I'd be keen to go back and have them prove me wrong but for now I'm very on the fence about how much of Bourke Street Bakery is actually good food and how much is just hype.

Come back to this place everytime I go to Sydney. This Australia bakeries have a special place in my heart forever. So good to be back! This time, I ordered 3 must have menu and one new tart (as their running out the ginger creme brulee).<br/><br/>HOT CHAI LATTE – Oh I hope I could by the large jar for this chai latte. Their chai is the best one I ever had in my entire life. Top 3 on the list and it’s absolutely be my number 1. Absolutely no idea how to make the best and perfect chai latte. I wish I could drink that every morning. (10/10)<br/><br/>BEEF, BEER & BACON PIE WITH CHEESE MASH ($6.50) – When cravings are satisfied. Just want to eat a good pie with different texture like this one. Love the cheese mash and the beer bacon filling bring back old memories. YUM! (8/10)<br/><br/>THE FAMOUS BEEF PIE ($6) – The cool weather is perfect for a hot pie. Loving the famous beef pie from @bourkestreetbakery. It’s just amazing! That flaky pastry on point! And that ‘bolognaise-ish’ filling is numero uno! (9/10)<br/><br/>PORK AND FENNEL SAUSAGE ROLL ($5.50) - One of the best sausage roll I ever taste in Australia. I’ve even bought it for takeaway. I don’t know how to explain it but the beef taste different, it taste like some high level meat – which used to make this sausage roll. So beautiful both in texture and flavour! #loveit (10/10)<br/><br/>Their new CARAMEL CREAM CRUMBLE TARTS ($5.50) are on the list. Surprisingly, it’s not that sweet, there’s also a hint of saltiness and crunchy tarts as always. Best savoury tart with urbanspoon’s high ratings (4.9) and because of this one – their sweet tart will be acknowledge and be the must order menu too. (8/10)

I think this may be my favourite Bourke St Bakery, as the surrounding area is nice and quaint (besides the ongoing tram works - nothing they can do about it .. but once that’s done, it’ll be perfect again! + easier access for everyone!!)
Evelyn Chen
Their seats are really limited and it is usually hard to find a table to sit there. However their bakery is still able to attract a lot of people. I had their beef pie in one sunny morning, and the taste was as delight as the weather!
Sydneyhomecook
This place is divine!<br/><br/>Perfect place to fulfil your bakery cravings. This place is really nice. I ordered a cheese croissant and apple tart with my regular coffee and I think I am a regular already!
Tania Ng
Ordered the beef pie, pumpkin feta cheese quiche, rhubarb danish tart, carrot cake and dark chocolate berry muffin. Everything tasted wonderful. However my personal top favourites were the pumpkin quiche and beef pie. Definitely a must try. Will be coming back for more when I’m in this area.

Sausage roll ($5.50)<br/>Lemon curd ($6)<br/>Ginger creme brûlée ($6)<br/>Overall ⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️<br/>🍴Really good pastries from this bakery. The #sausagerolls are the top recommend and we really enjoyed the filling yummy tender meat in a flaky buttery pastry. We got one lamb and one pork roll and all preferred the pork version that was with fennel. The #gingercremebrulee is unique and well-executed with a perfect balance of soft custard with a crisp caramel topping and the addition of ginger made for a nice interesting flavour profile. While the #lemoncurd was also high quality in the perfect tart and smooth rich lemon, the lemon was a bit too sour for our palettes and perhaps would be best balanced with a meringue.<br/>📍@bourkestreetbakery, 633 Bourke Street Surry Hills, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia<br/>#cafehoppingkidssydney

Ginger tart can healing everything , already busy always good taste alway come back if you want please to have good bakery that’s the place to be
PassionatPenn
The ginger tart is just fine and really doesn’t live up to the hype. Lemon meringue tart is so average. Not sure what the fuss is about this place as the offerings are subpar for the price
Karen Zou
Surry Hills is always a good place to find great breakfast or brunch. The signature ginger lemon tart really gets me, and I always buy bakery every time I pass by
Asian Food Ninja
I crave for this Pork & Fennel sausage often but it must accompany with their homemade tomato sauce and a lemon tart. Perfect snack or lunch everyday.
Jennifer Zhou
Amazing food! it is a must try especially the creme brulee pie which is to die for. Overall, Highly recommended! The atmosphere is also very nice and relaxing for a afternoon
Ingrid Linardi
A must try, also one of the mandatory brunch place to go when I visit Sydney.<br/>Pork and fennel sausage roll is super good, creme brûlée pie is to die for, other foods are worth trying because so far everything taste delish!<br/>They only serve hot beverages but do have a fridge full of several cold drinks to try if you’re not into caffeinated drink. <br/>The place is typically crowded and because the seats are limited and located outside the cafe, they might get dirty often :(<br/>Staffs are very friendly, and dedicated! One time, a sweet lady who served my coffee noticed the mug was dirty so she went over the way to perfectly clean it. Wow.
Thewhereto
The original Bourke St Bakery - only a small place, but always busy. Plenty of breads, amazing sausage rolls and pies - we thoroughly recommend the lamb and harissa sausage roll! The creme brûlée tart is also amazing. On this visit I had a fluffy berry muffin and espresso!

It was love at first sight for me. This tiny bakery is adorable. It offers a good range of baked goodies and pastries.<br/><br/>The lemon tarts were amazing, the filling was so silky and smooth. It was definitely worth waiting in line for.<br/><br/>One slight problem was the size, there were way too many customers and not enough space to accommodate them.
Rafael Quevedo
Coffee mocha delivered me great dark chocolate flavour that immersed me into drinking more, it also had a great strong coffee presence (even though it was a decaf). You will immediately perceive the intensity, volume and substance of the coffee.
Ishu Jain
Knowing that it is the highest rated coffee place in town, my expectations were high and the place lived up to the expectations!! A cosy little cafe with amazing coffee and friendly staff. We asked the lady at the counter and she suggested the most popular tarts, ginger and lemon. Both were amazing to say the least.
Fanny Winardi
My go to bakery whenever I’m in Sydney. My personal fave would be their carrot cake and almond croissant. If I’m not mistaken they served a wonderful beef pie/quiche (might be a seasonal menu), and it was fantastic. All of their pastries are baked daily and fresh.<br/><br/>However their coffee was just okay. My piccolo was burnt and bitter. It would be good to have great coffee alongside a really great pastry. Or maybe it was just that time around my visit.<br/><br/>Price was normal, I feel like it’s worth it for the quality of food you’re paying. Place is tiny but very homey. There are a few seats outside so you can dine in with your doggos.

Delicious pies, sausage rolls, and tarts. Everything the sell is uber delicious and fresh! <br/>My favourite is their beef brisket pie, pork sausage roll, and ginger tart. <br/>The portion and feeling of the beef brisket pie is great enough for a breakfast with the price given.<br/>My fave drink is the iced chocolate milk, it’s a gem!<br/>I’d like to try their other tarts, chicken and vegetarian pies anytime soon. <br/>Definitely one of my fave in Sydney.
Tingwu729
Highly recommend the ginger tart<br/>Really love it <br/>The crossiant is also good<br/>Pork fennel roll is average<br/>This is crowd place but definitely will try other bakery next time<br/>
Rach
I’m not really a big fan of bakeries (except on my way to work lol) but wow, this one blew me away. Everything just tastes so good. The pork fennel sausage roll was great. The beef brisket pie my boyfriend had was great. And the tarts were AMAZING! We got one of each flavor expecting that the ginger creme brûlée would be the least tasteful but it turned out to be the best one!!
Ankit Malik
Everything here is just so good. One of the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life. well I walk quite a bit after reading reviews of the place and I must say the place did not disappoint me to say the least. Ambience is very good
Tulika Kabra
One of the best hot chocolates I have ever had in my life. The first sip just blew my mind. Loved it! And had the chocolate cake which was mind blowing too - truly chocolatyyy. #Yummy
Mykim
Everything here is just so good! Pies, bread, juices, sausage rolls, sandwiches, pastries and desserts!!! Made fresh, served hot and delicious! Definitely a place to return to anytime!
Chewynoms
Came for the ginger creme brulee and it didn't disappoint. Crust is crispy and the ginger infused custard is spot on, not overly sweet and not too ginger-y.<br/><br/>Other pastries were tad disappointing (maybe I expected too much). I got the chocolate tart, chocolate croissant, chicken pie and sausage lamb roll. They all tasted average and nothing to rave about.<br/><br/>There was a queue even at 10am on a Sunday. Limited spaces available so be prepared to takeaway.
HANGRYHUNGRY
Sussed out this place after seeing posts on Instagram. They offer a decent range of pastries, but they have more savoury pastries like meat pies, sausage rolls, etc. They have very limited outdoor seating. I am not a fan of rhubarb, but holy guacamole this soft rhubarb pastry was soo delicious! The strawberry meringue was also very tasty! They have decent pricing and it is usually very busy. Definitely would recommend coming here to try out their stuff!
Latika
Well I walked quite a bit, after reading reviews of the place. And I must say, the place did not disappoint me, to say the least. A fifteen minute walk from the central station, this place has a comfy feel to it. The small bakery sure does house a wide range of deliciousness, though the lamb sausage and mocha is all I had space for, in my tiny stomach. The sausage roll was a delight, and the mocha was different. Although it tasted strange in the first go, the flavour grew on me with every sip-until I began to love it, and left craving for more. The servings in simple steel plates and glasses reminds me of places back home, and adds to the comfort of the place in ways that are better felt than described. Would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Sydney.
Mrs Foodie
The pastry's here are to die for. Although this particular location is a tiny hole in the wall, the queue is definitely worth the wait. Everything is so fresh and reasonably priced for Surry Hills.

Ever went to their branch in Barangaroo but that time we just had coffee cause have eaten somewhere else. Last Friday got to chance to pay a visit again and I tried their famous ginger bread brulle tart ($4.5) and it was very delish. What i liked it's less sweet.
Hansi Dissanayake
Seriously the best pies around! It was great to pop in this morning and grab a pie, we had the Brisket and the Beef+Bacon Mash pies, and they were both so tender and fresh. Also had the Peach Vanilla Iced Tea and the Lemonade, Lemonade was a little tart for my liking but the iced tea is incredible! We will definitely be back!
Jonita🥢
This original Bourke st bakery has got to the best one!! <br/>Can’t fault any of the tarts - with my favourite being the ginger brûlée! It’s a must try!! <br/>The beef brisket pie and their ham & cheese croissants are also my all time favourites!
Rachael
Great little bakery with quick coffees and treats to share. I wanted an individual hot cross bun today being Easter Sunday but they only served them in packs of 6. <br/>The cold brew and the soy coffee were both very much appreciated. <br/>This is my second visit and I’ve enjoyed it all the more. Unfortunately there is a significant amount of roadworks still going on so beware of some noise and traffic inconvenience.
Dimzib
Their baked goods are no joke - the pastry is superbly made and is golden, flaky and crunchy, whilst remaining flavoursome and rich. All the fillings are more complex than in your average pastry. The coffee is good but not great, the staff are very friendly and organised, and the feel of the place quiet and tranquil; a great place to relax in the morning on a nice day.
Yukko
To be honest, I don't understand why the rate is so high, I went to different Bourke street bakery both in newtown and surry hills, ordered muffin, coffee and croissant, they are just normal. Maybe the ginger one is good? I may try it and add into my review.
Green Gourmet Giraffe
The Bourke Street Bakery offered a vegetarian Eggplant, chickpea, feta and spinach sausage roll for a reasonable $5.  Tomato sauce was 20c extra but it was home made and generous. Compared to most other brunch options, this was most satisfying and good value for money.  It is a sausage roll filling that I would never have thought of but it was really substantial and delicious with a wonderful flaky pastry.
Yummy
Best ginger lemon tart! And I am<br/>Not even a tart person. Also tried the quiche which was less impressive but still good. Service could improve a bit but overall I like this place.
Gigi
I like the sour dough bread and pies. I also like their healthy salads for lunch. Nice casual place to sit outside on a fine day and catch up with friends

I read about this place when I was at high school in Auckland, NZ (nearly 10 years ago). When I bit into the chocolate tart here I nearly cried - partly out of nostalgia, partly because of PMS & partly because it was one of the best chocolate tarts I've ever eaten. I wish Bourke St Bakery was in Brisbane too, although perhaps it's a blessing that it's not because I'd probably never be able to save a deposit for a house. Or something. The staff were so cheery and friendly too, love the vibe.

Ginger Creme Brûlée : 😍 Amazing <br/>Coffee : 😍 Amazing<br/>Service : 😊 Good <br/><br/>I’ve been dying to come and have a good cuppa here at Bourke Street Bakery and now that I have I can see what the hype is about. The ginger brûlée tart ticked all the boxed for me. It wasn’t too sweet and it had the right amount of spice from the ginger. Not to mention the outside and the top was still crispy and crumbly at the same time. The coffee is amazing. The smell of it just takes you to heaven. The service could of been better but I’m still willing to introduce this place to everyone.

I am wondering why the rating is so high: 4.7! I ordered flat white with almond and lemon ricotta cheese cake. They are good 4 out of 5. <br/><br/>The inside room is small, only 3 tiny tables but there are lots of seats outside. It is nice to have a cup of coffee outside at lovely warm cozy afternoon. <br/><br/>The ricotta cheese cake, aww, it is okay, transitional. Nothing extra. Fresh and ... and fresh.

Grabbed breakfast at Bourke Street Bakery with Iron Fist during our travels. Situated along its namesake, Bourke Street in Surry Hills, it comprised of a quaint little corner store. Like a moth drawn to flame, I was captivated by the pastry cabinet, with its tarts and cakes. Had it not been breakfast time, I surely would have gone for one of the cakes.
Wennie Yan
Very good street food compared the price level. I will strongly recommend the coffee, lamb role and tart. Very tasty and authentic.<br/>Most people do takeaway cuz it’s fast and cheap price. Sitting there might be a bit tight in the limited space, but still cozy.<br/>Looks very local and popular.<br/>Oh and we got the 2 tarts for free from the friendly staff.

This small shop offers very nice bakery. <br/><br/>The shop has been staying in my wish list for a long time. It was one Sunday we finally had that time to go to Surry Hills to visit the shop. On our way there I was surprised to find that they have many outlets. Nevertheless, the Surry Hills outlet has the highest rating among all.<br/><br/>The shop locates on a very quiet street in Surry Hills. It's really small and crowded as there are always customers coming and there are always new bakeries coming out from the oven.<br/><br/>It's a pleasure to enjoy the nice bakery in the open air. We had #Croissant# , which is crispy! The #sausage roll# is my favourite. It's hot and smells nice.<br/><br/>The #Chocolate Tart# and #Pear Danish# is OK but I had something similar in other bakeries, thus is not their special.
Jessenia Jauw
Much love for this bakery! The ginger brulee tart is amazinggg❤❤ you should order this guys! But i prefer to share rather than having the whole tart by myself. The lemon tart was kinda similar with the ginger brulee tart but without ginger and less crispy. The sausage roll is also popular but I dont really like it. <br/>The carrot cake was just okay for me
Sydney Food By Chloe
Worth the hype! My favourite thing to eat here is the lamb sausage roll with harissa! Just an explosion of flavours! Such a simple recipe yet such impact! Keen for a quick lunch or a stop over? Definitely try BSB!
Ferry Gondo
Definitely love the Pie and Iced Choco milk drinks here. The pie was crispy, crunchy, buttery, and flaky at the same time. Tried the sausage rolls. Did not dissapoint. Choc ganache tart, awesome. Perfect to be paired with intense choco drinks at the end.
@KeraBearEats
If you're after a quick meal or snack, or after the best damn creme brulee EVER... Bourke Street Bakery covers your deepest and unrelenting pastry desires... Pork and Fennel sausage rolls, the lightest Bacon quiches, a creme brulee that is basically a cream ginger nut cookie... This New Zealand girl has found the one bakery that reminds her of home
Sydneyfrenchfoodie
This bakery is an institution in Sydney. When I arrived here, people told me directly that if I was missing French bread and pastries I should definitively go there. The first time I went there I bought a baguette and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed because they are not crispy as I love the bread to be. But I came back another time to try their cakes and pasties and they are pretty good . I really love the ginger crème brulee pie. Just amazing taste!  And the Almond pain au chocolat is just the best combination for a perfect Sunday morning treat.

My first Bourke Street Bakery experience was way back in 2013 at this little gem on Bourke St in Surry Hills - and since then there have been so many more at other franchises. Love the coffee and the pastries, the aroma of in house baking on any weekday morning, and the hustle n bustle of patrons on a sunny Saturday queueing for their beverage.
Lauren Green
This bustling, tiny bakery appears to be very popular. We were lucky to score one of the 3 tiny tables inside, out of the wind. The whole time we were there, a constant stream of customers came and left, clutching delicious baked goods. The ginger creme brulee tart was a tasty treat, the almond croissant could have been crisper on the outside, but it was nice none the less.
Suzie Lee
We always visit the Bourke Street Bakery when we visit Sydney. The breads and pastries are legendary and we love the pork and fennel sausage rolls (with house made tomato sauce). We think that the coffee is pretty good too. On this visit we bought a baguette to take away and it was as good as any we've had in France!
Tommy Birken
Bourke Street Bakery is one of my favourite cafes in Sydney. On a nice day you can sit outside and eat your food while you fend of the pesky pigeons. <br/><br/>Today I had the pork and fennel sausage roll, the salad of the day which has tandoori chicken, roasted pumpkin, couscous, and roquette. The sausage roll is always great, but the salad really took me by surprised. The serving was HUGE, I instantly regretted ordering two items. The salad was fresh and tasty, highly recommend it! The coffee is okay.
Bill Anastasiadis
Great Bakery with fresh sausage rolls and pies...BUT...The pies and sausage rolls are always over cooked and pastry is on the verge of being burnt!!!
Facebook User
Best bakery in town in my opinion, the food is not instagram crazy but honest , tasty food . I loved everything I tired so far, sweet and savoury. The coffee is not too bad too .
Qianyu Ye
Really nice shop! The ginger tart is really nice! And I like the chicken and chrizo soup as well. The shop is a bit far away from the bus stop, but it is worthy!

Favorite place to pop in for a croissant and coffee. Every pastry is heavenly and always fresh. Love how friendly the workers are. I always get the chocolate croissants and they are always perfect. Quick service and excellent overall experience. Love the location too.
Hello Miss May
Oh my gosh. I've been eating Pork & Fennel for the past decade and I'm always so happy about this roll. It's the bomb! <br/><br/>And of course, the chocolate tarts and ginger brûlée tarts are to-die-for. Beautiful, buttery, flaky tarts... mmmm<br/><br/>For more foodie pix, @hellomissmay on Instagram<br/><br/>Blog<br/>Hellomissmay.com<br/><br/>Thank you for reading my review. Have a wonderful day everyone! xoM

Tried both the roast chicken sandwich and the beef brisket sandwich (both $9) and the chicken sandwich was a bit disappointing. For the price you pay, I didn't find it very filling or satisfying to eat. The beef brisket sandwich was actually quite good - the bread used was nice and crisp. I would like to try their sausage rolls and pies so will be returning to taste those however I dont think the sandwiches are worth the $9 you pay.

A must-do in Surry Hills: join the cue out the front of Bourke Street Bakery. This itsy-bitsy bakehouse – that has legendary status in Sydney – can barely fit two people inside but does a strapping sausage roll. The lemon tarts and various flavours of organic sourdough bread are equally as famous. Try the fig and cranberry.
Alisha Jason
The best bakery by far in the world ! The owners are wonderful guys . I've been here twice . The pear Danish is to die for! Also had the chicken sausage roll - yum! The beef pie - Epic ! Delicious coffee ☕️. And the GINGER CREME BRÛLÉE TART - A REVELATION ! The flavour is amazing . Nice crunch on top of the brûlée and the topping of pistachio is perfect . Once you bite into it , it melts in your mouth ! It's a very well priced place , had a hearty meal for 2 for $25 !! Highly recommend ❤
Don't Believe The Hype
Bourke st bakery perplexes me. I am often underwhelmed after eating it but then i can only name a couple better bakeries ive been to in Sydney. So that leaves me no choice but to give a good rating.
Reheenguin
Ginger tart and sausage roles are the best. Been going there for past 3 years as they are very close to my office. Also go to one in Kirrawee but Surry Hills is the best
Tina
Only tried apple crumbles. They are tasty. Not very filling which is good! You can tell the apples are fresh, not the ones in the can. The outside is not too sweet.
Fussyfoodie
Loved this place had a great feel and smell of course! Great, speedy service, incredible coffee . Would be even more enticing if this place had a few more gluten free options. In saying that their flourless chocolate cake was delicious, light and not overwhelmingly sweet.
Laura Cohen
sausage rolls - delicious, flavourful, favourite in sydney. price is however questionable<br/>ginger creme brulee tart - too pricey for the size and product, however tasty<br/>croissant - fairly reasonable, generous size, beautiful taste<br/>bread - delicious, i recommend the rosemary and olive bread loaf<br/><br/>the space is small, line is long, prices are extensive, however all in all, i really do find myself coming back here again and again!
Leon
I was attracted to Bourke Street Bakery because of the high ratings and ordered their three most popular munchies, the croissant, the ginger brûlée tart and the pork sausage roll.<br/><br/>The ginger brûlée tart was a pleasant surprise and probably one of the must try dish in Sydney. However, the croissant seems to be stale and exposed in the air for a long time. It does not have the crisp and fluff you expect in croissants. The pork sausage roll was terrible and tasted like a tree bark - dry, tasteless and unappetizing. I wonder why it was considered a delicacy among readers here.
Ann
Various of bakery choices! Smells nice, always a long waiting line there! Indoor space is very small but outdoor tables are pretty nice. Quite famours for those pies and rolls.

Ordered a flat white, chocolate croissant, lamb roll, and chocolate raspberry muffin. Flat white and chocolate croissant were both very good. But the muffin was amazing! Cute outdoor seating area. Not much room inside.<br/>Insta: @voraciousventures

I love this bakery. The baked goods are all very rich and tasty. Often very busy even early in the morning. It's such a place to go and grab morning tea. I'd go again for sure

Everything about this little place is good except for the queues. Their lamb sausage rolls.... Selection of cold drinks from Chai latte to iced coffee... Deserts... And variety of freshly baked bread.... All worth waiting in the line which moves very fast thanks to their super service

The ginger brûlée tart is my absolute favourite and I'll get one any time it's available. The coffee is ok as is the chilled bottled version they stock and for lunch their pies are rather nice. While very filling, I found the sandwiches rather dry which is a shame. <br/><br/>Nice little place to pick up something to go.
Jen
Coffee A+, sausage roll A+, croissants crispy and soft in all the right places. I wish it was a little easier to get to! Some street parking nearby-ish but otherwise a 15min walk from central station.
Caterina Bidini
I'm a regular here (every other day if not every day) and happy to support this family-owned business as the bread is fantastic, almond croissant simply delicious, and the creme-brûlé ginger tart is like haven! Absolutely worth queuing!!!
Dr. Foodie ..
This place is worth the hype and queues ......<br/>Best coffee 😍<br/>Best croissants😍<br/>Best pastries 😍<br/>Best people around 😍<br/>Very nice little neighborhood bakery which has so much to offer, right from sourdough bread to a brunch on an outdoor sitting area. My favorite here are the pies, various kinds of sausage rolls and coffee. Their dessert pastries are absolutely amazing. <br/> This place isn't that large but neat and tidy which left a big impression on me. <br/>A short queue is no surprise here, but their great service contributes to queue moving fast. <br/>A must try guys!!
Those Who Love To Eat
I've heard so much about this bakery and the line goes to show how popular this corner bakery truly is. So my curiousity got the better of me and off I went to check out and see what the rage is all about. <br/>The seating here is very limited, especially inside. There are out side seating but I suspect that most of the patrons are locals and they do alot take aways, but if you wish to bag a seat, you essentially have to be like a mag pie and swoop in, as soon as someone leaves and there is a free table. <br/>They mainly serve pastries, pies, quiches and sausage rolls. You know, the easy to eat kind of food. I ordered their lamb harissa sausage roll and their pre made iced coffee, seeing that it was a hot day, and I didn't really feel like a hot coffee. <br/>Whilst I enjoyed the buzz, honestly the hype and buzz just didn't really match with the reality. Whilst, the sausage roll was good and the iced coffee refreshing, there were no real outstanding features about this bakery. Perhaps I might have looked over minor details, which is highly probable. I dont know? Atleast I can say I've been here and tried their goodies!

Food here is great. Haven't had the coffee so can't speak for it however the baked goods are delicious yet they are way overpriced. Maybe it's just baked goods in general however paying around $5 for a small tart in my opinion isn't really worth it. Beyond that their other menu items are great. I have tried the hotdog which was a whopping $9 dollars (heck) but it was quite good I have to say. Overall the place is great yet a lot overpriced.

If you are craving a savoury pie or sweet pastry, then Bourke Street Bakery is your place. <br/><br/>It is a very popular bakery in Surry Hills and I can defintely see why... their food is delicious! They are famous for their pies and sausage rolls, especially the pork and fennel. It was a joy to eat for breakfast! Also loved their pear tart - hit the spot!<br/><br/>Not much seating inside and out, so best to get takeaway!

Bourke Street is one of our go-to's for pastries and desserts in Sydney. Every one of our visits here have been worthwhile and we've been consistently impressed. We definitely recommend their Sausage roll ($4.80) and Pear and Rhubarb Tart, however you can't go wrong with anything here!

Looking at all the patries and heaven, it was tough but we finally decided to buy only 3 items. The Ginger Creme Brulee Tart was everything good in the world combined: super creamy custard, flaky and buttery tart with a hint of ginger. The Carrot Walnut Cake was exceptional: not too sweet, had the perfect amount of spice. The cream cheese frosting was tangy and creamy. The biggest plus is that I can convince myself they are healthy (just lying to myself)... The Almond Praline Croissant was could have been more flaky and buttery and contain more nuts. The savoury things looked delicious as well but we were too full at this point.

I don't like many things made of ginger, i.e. Ginger bread. And ginger brûlée tart sounds weird to me, I hardly give it a try. Lol... but it reeeeeearlly tastes awesome.

Picture this. It is 2004 and two bakers, Paul Allam and David McGuinness decided to open up their own bakery. Quaint and full of life, the bakery is encompassed by the smell of freshly baked bread and an assortment of cakes. 12 years later, not much has changed, as the bakery is still the place to go if you love a good, hearty meal. While they have opened up branches throughout Sydney, we visited the original bakery which resides on, you guessed it, Bourke Street in Surry Hills.
