I used a Groupon (2ppl) for all you can eat hot pot & a boat full of sashimi and seafood with great presentation. I liked the wide variety from fried rice to sushi and of course the hot pot ingredients. Staff were friendly. Only thing i didn't like was the tongs used to grab food were put all in one container which mixed up with non meat and meat food. No food poisoning so far, but pretty good quality meat though!
I recently visit Umi Sushi Nabe in Haymarket which has recently launched their new Hot Pot menu. I am dining with a group and was surprised to see that there are individual hot pots! No sharing !!! Hurrah for me. I've never seen individual hot pots before and I am impressed. As you walk in, you can see the hot pot buffet area and I am seated to the back of the restaurant. There are lots of groups of people dining, drinking, chatting and enjoying their food. I order a nice glass of red wine while Mr Weekend Food Escapes enjoys a nice refreshing beer. The all you can eat hot pot buffet has a special at the moment of $23.80 pp at lunch (60 minute time limit) or $29.80 pp at dinner where there 90 minute limit.
I love this place, this is my first time to try there food. It is absolutely amazing, all the foods that I ordered was fresh and juicy. Will be back here again next time.
Umi Sushi & Bar in Haymarket was closed for a while due to renovation and I have to say I like it better following the renovation. I mean look at this sashimi platter, all of my favourite sashimi served at once. Will be back for sure!
(4.5 Stars) UMI SUSHI AND BAR is an exceptional all rounder Japanese venue that gave us the best of the best of a taste experience. It was my second best Japanese dining experience of 2018 just behind a Chankonabe feast in the snow in Hokkaido earlier in the year. I love this place and will return.

Like it’s little sister Umi Sushi Express on George Street, flagship restaurant Umi Sushi & Bar echoes downtown Tokyo with its metal grates and bright red neon signs. With an extensive menu covering every kind of sushi roll, nigiri and gunkan imaginable in addition to live seafood, yakitori, hot pot (including a delicious seafood soy milk udon with wagyu!) and udon. We sampled an epic sushi/sashimi boat which was incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared
Umi Sushi group was first established in 2006, and since then, the owners have expanded their restaurant into three stores and spent years perfecting the menu, to preserve delicate flavours of traditional sushi, whilst bringing innovation to the world of sushi. In 2017 their flagship store, Umi Sushi & Bar underwent a refurbishment and now provides entertainment and dining with the option of private rooms perfect for parties. Their menu includes premium expert crafted sushi and sashimi as well as wagyu and hot pot and a range of traditional and modern Japanese drinks.

We were lucky enough to be asked to join some our fellow foodies for a banquet of Japanese food at Umi Sushi in Haymarket. Umi Sushi have other locations in Darling Quarter and Town Hall. The Haymarket store is super big with a bar to sit at, a range of smaller tables and also some private rooms that also have karaoke. It is conviently close to central station and also the capitol theatre for those theatre lovers amongst us.
There are sushi bars where you come and eat tuna rolls or salmon sashimi; then there is Umi Sushi & Bar where you come and get blown away. At a recent tasting event, we were taken on a culinary journey that showcased some of the best Japanese cuisine on offer in Sydney. If asked to name our favourite Japanese dishes, our pick would be in the order of otoro (fatty tuna), miso cod, wagyu beef and grilled eel. We were mesmerised when they all appeared on one menu at Umi.
If you're thinking Umi Sushi sounds familiar than you've probably been to one of their location in Darling Quarter, Town Hall or Haymarket. We had a quick tour around their Haymarket location and saw live seafood in fish tanks, experienced chef's preparing sashimi, a gorgeous bar and a private dining room. If you are interested in dining here, feel free to make a booking. Click here to book your experience at Umi Sushi
