Great food, brilliant service and affordable prices. I got both the unagi don and tofu don (I eat a lot). The unagi don was as good as I've had, and Ive had quite a lot as of late, and was quite cheap at 13.90. The tofu don lacked a bit of flavour but was light and healthy. Would recommend adding an egg to the tofu don for some added flavour. Can't complain about anything. Will be coming back.
Really fast serving and friendly staff. Taste is always good and consistency. I came back lunch and dinner. Variety menu. Highly recommend
The chicken katsu is absolutely delicious! Probably the best one I have ever had in Melbourne. Not many places in Melbourne do soba, given the price it was very very very good
Tokyo Table is a cosy and affordable Japanese restaurant located along Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.
Visiting for lunch I ordered the zaru soba (cold soba with sipping sauce) which is perfect for warmer weather from the extensive menu. The serve of soba was generous and very filling. The service was friendly and in addition to the reasonable prices the tea was complimentary.
Overall I enjoyed my meal at Tokyo Table and give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. I’d love to go back and try one of the bbq dishes.
Amazing! Great value and unique menu.
Tonkasu ramen here is actually better than many other dedicated ramen shops. Flavours are deep but not oily.
Nagasaki Champon was probably my favourite of the night. The soup base is a bit lighter than tonkasu and there's a generous amount of seafood. You can't find this type of ramen anywhere else!
The wagyu BBQ was also great. I was amazed how much meat I got. It was easy to cook and so tender even with it cooked to well done.
The only down side is the queue and no booking. Wait for getting a table especially for more than 2ppl can be quite long.
One of my fav dish from Tokyo Table is actually their chicken w curry. But recently they’ve added teriyaki noodles into their menu. I’d definitely recommend everyone to try their seafood teriyaki noodles if you don’t feel like having curry & rice. Nevertheless, they’ve also have amazing Wagyu barbecue. The only one down side for this restaurant will be the lack of air ventilation, so you’d probably stink like food after dining in. Waitresses are always quick and polite.
only review needed: BEST JAPANESE IN MELBOURNE HANDS DOWN!!!!
Absolutely loved this place, service was amazing and food was so good! We were going to order quite a few dishes but the kind lady serving us told us that it would be too much food for us to finish so she helped us order the perfect amount of food. Would definitely come back again!!
What to have on a cold day when your in a rush?
Unagi Don and Katsu Curry Don.
It is a small little Japanese resturant with a wide selection from the menu.
Staff are friendly but would say the food is amazing.
I found that my Unagi Don little tough and salty.
The Katsu Curry Don was nice but too much curry sauce which ended flooding the dish.
If your not to fussed with quality of food then its a cool little joint. I guess comparing from a beautiful fresh Unagi Don I had the other night, it made this one not so good.
Worth a try :)

It’s simple basic Japanese food for good prices.
Only thing lacking is the raw sushi, sashimi range. Not many fish options.
Staff are friendly, you can get seated quickly and free tea is the best.
A couple of spelling typos on the menu which is funny because my boyfriend almost ordered the chichen katsu. 😂
What a find! The food here is incredible! Don't be fooled by the prices, this is cheap and cheerful done right. Pork Katsu are excellent, very crisp and juicy. The Karaage Chicken was large, crisp and tasty. The place was super busy but the service was fast and attentive. Lot's of variety on the menu to keep going back, which we will. Add this place to the rotation.
Came here for lunch, I’d recommend coming here before 12 noon if you can to avoid the lunch crowd. Ordered the zaru soba noodles as a healthy option and was happy with it. Prices I think are reasonable. Plenty of great choices in the area and I think this deserves to be up the top.
An amazing spot for dinner. Prices are affordable and the food is delicious, reminded me of when I was back in Japan. Service was amazingly fast as well for a Friday night! 100% recommend!!
I ordered the chicken karaage curry and it was delicious!! so filling in fact, that I actually couldn't finish the last two pieces because I was so full. A very good sauce to rice ratio.
My one critique was the confusion in ordering, there was no clear sign of whether you order from your table or go up to the counter. In the end I went up to give my order. I'd recommend to them perhaps setting up a QR code ordering system.
EDIT: on our last visit the new staff member was so unpleasant and rude to us that it has put us off from revisiting the restaurant again.
Very affordable and generous portions. The katsu wasn't the most authentic, but definitely still tasty in its own right. Relieved to see that they provided the typical sides (rice, miso soup, cabbage and bulldog sauce) for free. The green tea and sesame ice cream are the best we've had in this neighbourhood. It's usually very busy so it's best if you reserve in advance so that you don't end having to wait outside for a while. Would definitely recommend!
Cozy Japanese restaurant. Crisp original Karaage chicken (not those cheap bag frozen ones), tasty curry, flavourful ramen base and very interesting bread crumb beef. All served in generous portions and good value! Will be back for more.
Very tasty chicken karaage curry! It’s different from other chicken karaage that I ate in the other Japanese resto. This one is crispy and worked well with the curry. Also this Japanese curry is more like a soup than the thicker version of the curry. It’s a surprised for me as I have never tried this version of curry before.
Overall, it’s highly recommended!
