Went to this hotel for dinner twice during our 4 night stay in Hobart recently. We found the meals to be of a high standard with plenty of options for main and dessert. The prices were also VERY reasonable. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Would recommend.

waited 40 minutes for a steak to find out my docket hadn't been added to the chefs list. NOT HAPPY, poor service, hopefully better next time.
Update: i have now received my steak but instead of the ordered vegies i was given chips. the service just gets better.... downgrading to 1 star.

Can't rate the food or service highly enough, and the value was amazing!!! We were so impressed, that even though we were only in Tassie for 4 days, we ate dinner here twice!! The steaks here were better than one of the supposed "high end" resturants we ate at in Hobart!!!

Good service, food was awful. Chicken schnitzel cooked to a crisp, steak was tough definitely an old dairy cow. Never again. Caesar salad was nice.

This placed USED to be great but now it’s nothing short of terrible. The Chef is a rude and vulgar person who will practically bully his customers. We could hear him swearing from the kitchen while we were in the dining area. Even the staff told us that he has a bad reputation and receives many complaints. Do not go to this place due to “having a great experience a few years ago” as this is just not the case anymore. 0/5 Stars if it was possible!!!

There is nothing better than a friendly classic Aussie pub. We called in here for lunch and a beer on a Saturday afternoon. The place was filled with a mixture of locals and visitors. Guiness on tap which made my husband happy. The food was really good and value for money is incredible. We both got chicken snitzels and the meals were large and filling and delicious....and the price was soooo cheap for what you got.
If we had been staying in Hobart longer we would've eaten here multiple times. A great find.

I was in Hobart for a few days, and I couldn't find anywhere open to eat in the evenings, outside of subway and a lot of Asian cuisines (which unfortunately isn't my taste) and I was feeling increasingly desperate to locate somewhere to get a good easy meal.
I stumbled upon this little pub and honestly it's a absolute gem.
Good food, good service, simple and warm atmosphere, good location, and serves food on Sunday nights too!
I ate here the remaining 3 nights of my trip to Hobart and I'm sad I won't be able to go again.
If you're looking for a quick good meal, lots of variety and good servings at great prices, hit them up.
I also highly reccomend "the wedge parmy" and their soup of the day, YUM!

I had a meal here and it was terrible. I got a $26 400g scotch fillet and that was not what I got. I got a chewy 250g piece of shit. My friend ordered the same thing after I received mine and his was much bigger. I took it back and to complain and I didn't even get an apology let alone a refund for the meat I didn't get.
Won't be returning again and will not be recommend this place to anyone.

By far the best value in Hobart, $12 rump with chips and salad, $16 meat lovers parmy, $12 beef schnitzel.. great pub grub.. would give it 10/10 anyday !

Cannot believe our experience yesterday. Waited over an hour for our meal and instead of offering a discount or free drink or refund when asked about the long wait we got sworn at by the owner. Wait staff were equally rude.
Used to come here a lot and im flat out disappointed and appalled at their childish behaviour. My friends and i will never be back.

An absolute appalling night spent for my birthday dinner, never been to a pub that couldn't get a pub loaf cooked correctly, the rudest staff I've ever had the displeasure of being served by, usually have great meals at this establishment, after last night's meal ill be lucky to muster the enthusiasm to ever return! I suggest anyone looking for a cheap pub meal go to The Ocean's Child and or Hope and Anchor! No use supporting an ungrateful business!

Great value...great meal! How can you complain about a $10 lunch/dinner!! Quick service in the dining room and food was hot and well cooked. Better to go after parking hours as the parking is all metered during the day. We are now regulars...Can take all my boys for steak under $60 for 4 of us!

2 x porterhouse steak ordered 1 medium rare 1 medium, both overcooked probably because they were only 1cm thick. Dianne sauce tasted funny and had some red bits in it (not sure what they were maybe tomato?) and the salad too much lettuce. Very disappointing considering my wife had dinner there Friday night and loved it maybe a different chef tonight but below average for this meal.

The Shamrock Hotel is a cozy little pub/restaurant that has everything you would want in a bar. Good atmosphere(lovely open fire in winter), cheap good quality food ($10-25 bucks for mains, brilliant!) which are available all day (which suits me because I wont get off work to have my lunch until 3:30) cheap on tap drinks with a good wide range on tap, Happy hour that is technically hours* (runs for 2 hours) and great friendly staff that juggle a workload most people in hospitality couldn't hack. If you're looking for a fine-dining snooty experience look elsewhere, this is a good old classic family pub where people can relax and have a night out that doesn't clear out your wallet. My favorite spot in town to grab a feed/have a drink.

Has the best meals for great value. Met up with other travellers who too were going back for another meal. I would highly recommend. Nice selection of meals which all came in large servings. Staff were great. Need to book otherwise you could miss out.

We are so glad you didn’t get flooded. This was our favourite place to go each night while we were in Hobart. Best food, friendly atmosphere and a great Host. Looking forward to a return trip some day.
