Review Old Wharf Restaurant - Hobart

The food was amazing, really tasty. The service was great. We had the pork belly and prawn cocktail to start and it was really yummy and well cooked. For a main I had the chicken which was well seasoned and tender. Would definitely recommend coming for a nice meal!

We were so Hungary..and this place is open later than others...good service, magnificent view, clean look. But oh dear God, the food was so bad, this is despite our hunger which usually makes almost anything eatable..not this one..I'm pretty sure there is no chef at the back and rather it's just some bored student putting matter on plates...good luck with you guys, but you do need a chef

Beautiful meal with good service. Highly recommended for special occasions or a romantic getaway dinner.

We had dinner and breakfast here. Both were just ok. It was expensive (as you would expect) but the meals were disappointing. The location and ambiance was great and the staff were great too. I almost went 4 stars because of these factors, but expensive and just ok food brought it down. We wont be dining here again as there are so many better options close by

Very pleased with the meal my partner and I had tonight, can highly recommend the "feed me" option on the menu. Wow was it a great way to experience more of the menu in one sitting, every plate was delicious. Our waitress Phoebe really stood out also, her down to earth personable touch certainly stood out to us. Thank you Phoebe and the Old Wharf for a great evening!

Brilliant Service! We dined for our 7 year anniversary and Valentines and was met with bubbles and a beautiful window table. The food was wonderfully presented and decent size for price! Beef cheeks and scallops 😋 We shared a mousse and raspberry special for dessert and was attended to politely and just enough to not have to wait for service. We will definitely be back again ! Thank You Simran was our waitress- excellent 😊 T&G xxx

We had dinner and breakfast here at the Old Wharf Restaurant as we stayed one night at the MacQ 01 hotel. The restaurant decor is beautiful, the staff were friendly and offered exceptional service, they went above and beyond. Loved it !!! For dinner we enjoyed the oyster kilpatrick and the fig and prosciutto salad for starters. My daughter loved the salad. For main we had the steak, pork cutlet, scallop pie and macaroni and cheese. All the dishes were outstanding. We did order the carrots side dish that we didn’t enjoy but staff were happy to take this off the bill. My daughter would of preferred more cheese on her macaroni and cheese but still enjoyed it. My son loved his pork cutlet not so much the slaw but we ordered fries for him. My hubby enjoyed his steak it was cooked to perfection ! I had the scallop pie and I loved it... the trick is add more curry sauce to the pie and this made it delicious 😋 Breakfast was great, my hubby and I enjoyed the baked eggs and bagel with salmon and scrambled eggs. The kids had room service as they like to sleep in and enjoyed poached eggs on toast with avocado and the continental breakfast. Best of all coffee was made to perfection. 10/10 for this restaurant!!!

The food was excellent, well cooked and presented. Flavours beautiful. Our evening was made even more enjoyable by the efficient and focussed wait staff. Great drinks list and a lovely venue. Comfortable chairs a bonus.

Situated within MAQC01 hotel on waterfront lies this beautiful gem, rather new restaurant and hotel by Federal Group. Fantastic views, with modern interiors and story telling concept that filters through decor, menu and theme. We had great seat next to the window as it was romantic outing with my partner who treated me to my birthday dinner. Staff acknowledged my birthday with complimentary glass of bubbly which is fantastic surprise! We had tempura oysters and enjoyed them even though my partner does not eat oysters. Our two starters were halloumi and trout. Trout dish was fantastic - halloumi was enjoyable but needed some lemon to cut through richness and saltiness of halloumi. Everything was well beautifully presented. For main dish we had main to share - pork shoulder. A winning dish! Just that would have been enough as serving was generous and it came with green beans, polenta and roasted cauliflower with grapes, pine nuts and manchego. We ordered Tasmanian Chardonnay on suggestion from one of their staff which complimented dish well. We loved attentive service, energetic staff and ambience and food was amazing!

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Old Wharf Restaurant. Our waitress, Irena explained the menu to us and when she understood what we were looking for made a recommendation. She recommended Mussels to go with the Prawns we had ordered. Well done Irena and thank you for taking the time to listen to us. As it is a limited menu this input into our meal was greatly appreciated. Food, wine and service - all good. Thoroughly recommend the Old Wharf. Proud to be a Tasmanian when we have such amazing restaurants.

Where does one start. I’m not one to normally complain however I feel compelled to write this review. After reading several reviews of great ambience, service and food I’m not sure if my expectations were too high or I dined on a poor night, but my experience was somewhat flat at best for a party of 2. The drinks menu is very extensive - on wine, but if you like your spirits - as I do, this was limiting. Table service was average. We were explained the function of the menu by our waitress however when the time came to take our drink and dinner orders it was slow. Waiting for our entree was slow. When it arrived it was ok. Perusing the restaurant we noticed a party of 7 adjacent to us - who arrived before us, however they were yet to receive their entree even though we finished ours. Approximately 20 minuets later our mains arrived. My wife’s eggplant dish was hot, whilst my pasta ragu was warm - at best. As much as I could have sent it back, I didn’t as I was coy completing my dinner with my wife. During our mains, our waitress asked about our experience. We explained the issue of my main. She was apologetic to our experience and conveyed this to the kitchen. A short time later she returned to advise that the dish would not be billed to our dining for which we were appreciative. In concluding, would I return, most likely not. It was somewhat disappointing and a let down.

Wow! From the Crab and avo starter then onto the Cape Grim steak it was superb. The service was friendly and efficient with top marks going to Stacey ⭐️. However the highlight for me was possibly the best restaurant desert I’ve ever had, Wildflower honey parfait 😋😋😋😋😋 While chatting with friends I washed it all down with a couple of Bundy n cokes and a spectacular view. It truly was a 5 star experience. Well done Old Wharf Restaurant 👌

I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. What a wonderful night i had with the woman of my dreams and a setting to match. The staff were helpful and friendly without being intrusive and food was just amazing. If your looking for a culinary experience rather than just dinner this is the place to go

Friendly, attentive, professional, knowledgable staff. Perfect spot to watch the harbour & the sunset behind Mt Wellington. Additionally had possibly the best (all time) Caesar salad via room service ever!! Seriously!!!!

They fit us in without a booking. The service was great. Food was excellent. The champagne sorbet oysters were the best I’ve ever eaten. They did a special meal order without fuss. A great night!

Great starter and dessert. Steak was well over cooked and the tiny 100g yellowfin tuna for $37 was dry as a bone. The dinner experience is nothing like breakfast.

I recently dined at the the Old Wharf restaurant with a friend. The view was lovely, we tried some interesting flavours and the ricotta dumplings delicious. However we had a 45 minute wait for our entrees, despite others who arrived after us being served quickly, and when they arrived we received the incorrect order and had a further wait for correct dish. We then had another lengthy wait for our main course and the duck ragu we ordered was cold. All of which really took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. I emailed the Old Wharf restaurant directly to offer some polite feedback on our experience but unfortunately no response was received.

Friends and I ate there for lunch on Saturday. From the moment I walked into Macq01 there was an understated feeling of opulence. The restaurant was stylish with lovely, comfortable leather seats and excellent tableware. It looked and felt exciting. There was 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals and sides, washed down with local wines. The service was both friendly and competent. We wanted for nothing. Pricing is competitive. I'll be eating there again for a special night out.
