Review Monsoon Thai Fusion - Hobart

Agung Wahyudi
Direction from google map is a bit misleading. Search "Galleria Salamanca" and enter from there up to the corner and go to second floor. Parking payable around Salamnca market. Place: plenty of table, clean toilet. Not so much on the Hobart view. Service was attentive and quick. Food: we ordered, pad thai, fried rice, chicken salad, and green curry. All comes with authentic Thai taste. Portion is good for the price. Definitely will come again if i visit Hobart.

Meals were delicious. Casual atmosphere with friendly staff. BYO from Drink Co bottle shop and bar on ground level before you head up to restaurant on first floor.

Delicious Thai food in Salamanca market. Their Pad Thai and crispy fish basil n chilli fried rice is very tasty. Must try if you are in Hobart looking for a good Thai food.

This is my first time visit Suwan Thai, I’m indeed impressed to find this high quality Thai in Tassie. Im a huge fan of pad Thai, had it all the time when I was in Bangkok. The pad Thai of suwan Thai is the first one I have had on this island so far really close to what I had in Thailand. We love the Tom Yam soup too, we cannot stop from drinking that, their chefs are definitely good at seasoning and know well about Thai cuisine. Though the mango sticky rice is quite expensive, $15, the portion is satisfactory. I cannot emphasis enough how surprise am I when I find the sticky rice have the same taste as I had back to Thailand. However, the texture of the rice is a bit too runny, and the mango is too sour (I cannot blame the restaurant on this) in the standard of Thai dessert. Overall, we had a wonderful Thai dinner today, will visit again for sure!

We had dinner at Suwan tonight and it was amazing!! Everything we ordered from the mixed entree to the curry and coconut rice was delicious! I especially loved the Tom Yum soup! One of the best I’ve ever had! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good Thai in Hobart!

The entree mix was good. Pad Thai noodles a little bit too soft. Portions were too small for me. But overall is good.

Absolutely delicious food. Customer service also good. We really enjoyed the lunch.

Not bad food by any means, it just wasnt very good. Portion sizes were good for both Pad Thai and Beef fried rice. Both beef and chicken were overcooked though and the Pad Thai was abnormally sweet, couldn't finish it off as the sweetness was a bit overpowering. Really nice people though, price was fair for the quality of the meal.

Hailing from sunny Queensland, it was a slightly strange experience to sit down to Thai in front of a crackling fireplace, but this Tasmanian gem of a restaurant was a delicious experience. Our party of three consisted of a vegetarian, a meat-and-potato oldie and a low sodium diet, but we all found something delicious on the menu. There was also a good wine list from which to choose. Wait staff were friendly and the attentive chef visited the table to check on the meals. Highly recommended.

Best meal I've had in Tasmania. Flavours popping off the plate. Great service and good wine. We liked it so much we went back for seconds the very next night.

For a lover of spicy foods i find it difficult to find restaurants that actually accomodate my love for chilli. Last night I had the most superb curry and got my dish 'thai' hot and it was certainly worth it! There is nothing better than having a little sweat running down your forehead whilst consuming so many vibrant flavours. Absolutely delicious!

The best Thai food we have ever tasted! We didn't book so were very lucky to get in. Many of the customers were locals, so that says a lot about the quality and consistency of their food. Service was a little slow but it was very busy for a week night so understandable

So yummy! The mock meats were so realistic we had to double-check with the waiter :D Lovely ambience too!

Lovely friendly staff and gorgeous food. Highly recommend

Oh wow. This was delicious!!! Can't believe it took us so long to dine here. Will definitely be back again...and again. Beautiful, tasty food and friendly service.

Great food and service. It was delicious. Lots of vegan options as well.

I went here for the first time tonight (after a friends recommendation) and had the roast duck curry. It was delicious and the service was fantastic! Was very impressed and will be back.

Had dinner here tonight, fantastic food, fantastic service. I've paid a lot more for a lot less, in the past. Caramelised pork was a particularly gelatinous slow cooked offering. Really nice, served properly hot, and a decent serving. We'll definitely be back.

Only a glass of wine is good. The food menu should have more explanations, need a bigger canopy in the kitchen.

Great food , good atmosphere , exceptional service , very impressive .

Always delicious with lovely service. The vege tom yum, pumpkin tofu Stir-fry and coconut rice are just a few of my favourites there. Great for people who are vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.

Service was lack lustre. Enjoyed a selection of starters but was not impressed with the mains we ordered. Penang curry was a delicate serve with very little flavour. Bento pork was dry and overdone. At best an average experience that we probably won't return too. Vastly overpriced for the experience.

Best Thai food, better then any Thai restaurants in Melbourne! Lovely staff and delicious cocktails!!

My dad and I had dinner here a few days ago and both loved it. The staff were friendly and our meals were delicious + well presented. I had the veggie dumplings for entree and the Pad Thai chicken for main. I will definitely be going back for another meal

OK little spot. I enjoy the ambience, the curries are maybe a little watery and perhaps a touch overpriced. Always full though so has a nice ambience about it, friendly staff.

I was a little disappointed in my meal I thought I was going to get a succulent piece of pork belly but instead all I got was Barbecued pieces of pork, oh well!! they must of thought I wouldn't notice the difference. On a better note my husbands red curry was delicious.

On arrival at Monsoon you'll be drenched with the sweet aroma of a busy kitchen with non functional extractor fans.
Otherwise you will enjoy an delicious meal, fantastic flavours and exquisitely prepared.
Don't miss the kids corner for unsharperned pencils and cold drafts of air from the bathroom.
Thanks Monsoon, the food was moist ;)

Great food but even more amazing atmosphere for dating. Not crowdy at night. Perfect dating spot. This is my first time giving a review. I had to make one because this place seems so underrated for such great food and atmosphere. The staffs give great service too. They always smile!

It really is that good. Great menu, smells, tastes and value in a gorgeous and quiet setting. I can't think of any reason why I will not come back

A little good find thai fusion restaurant found along the Hampden road at battery point. The taste was a little too sweet for my liking but the taste is actually very tasty. The steam trout was beautifully prepared, fresh and taste gorgeous.

You don’t have to travel far for a good green curry with Hobart’s plethora of Thai restaurants. Our surging restaurant scene means you also don’t need to go far from your suburb to enjoy a meal out. Which is why I last ate in Battery Point circa 2003. But I love Thai food and I love a good deal. Monsoon Thai Fusion is in the Entertainment Book so Boozy Friday Friend and I booked in.

Last minute booking which they fitted us in, a plus. Options of adjusting spicyness level when ordering our mains as my girlfriend can't handle much (yet) was a pleasant surprise considering Thai focus cuisine are generally quite spicy.. Service was very attentive and food- brilliant and tasty. My only concern is their table layout as our initial table was next to the main foot traffic area which would've been quite annoying had we stayed on that same table but other than that, it was a welcome positive first food experience in TAS. Definitely will be back.

Wow! Fantastic fresh flavours. It was really quite busy in the restaurant and the service was still fabulous. It was the best tasting Thai food I have had for a long time.

Customer service poor. Sat for 30 mins before someone took our drinks order (after we went up to counter to order). Staff were stressed, dealing with unhappy customers that booking was mucked up and were turned away. Entrees were good - dumplings and satay chicken. Had duck salad and tomyum soup for mains. Hardly any salad mostly duck (which some might prefer). Soup wasn't anything special. We ordered a side of bread that didn't come out until we were leaving!!!Average experience. Disappointed as we had heard good things. Wouldn't go back.

Delicious food and friendly customer service! We'd definitely go back. We tried red curry and tofu stake. Definitely recommend this place.
Really nice Dishes! Pre-booking recommend! The scollops and prawn with chill sauce was really fresh and good! The noodles with chicken and prawn are wonderful as well. Don't forget to try the Tomyum soup! That's amazing!

Some process problems to work out, a few incorrect orders and staff seem to be stressed a lot of the time, but the tasty food, interior and friendliness of the staff make up for it.

Loved the freshness of the food. Had the crispy pork, duck, satay, and duck pancakes. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. Nice feel to the place, well worth checking out!

Happy Smiling Staff - poor service. Saturday night dining. Full restaurant. Banquet. Beautiful food especially the duck curry (part of the banquet) and chocolate souffle (not part of the banquet). Lots of happy friendly staff but the service ranged from quick to painfully slow. Had to ask for the rice (part of the banquet) and had to ask for tea and coffee (part of the banquet). At the end we had to question the bill as tea and coffee which IS part of the banquet we were charged for.
Price very reasonable.

Poor Service. Dined here on a very busy Saturday night and experienced very bad service.
It took at least 15mins to receive menus and a further 20mins before they came back to take our order.

The food is lovely however service was definitely not up to scratch!

Moonsoon. Sunday night meal
Pad Thai - miniscule serving of a few noodles, one piece of broccoli and three tiny bits of Tofu.
NO herbs insite !! of any of the dishes.
Calamari was tough no flavour.
Other dishes were oily and still no herbs...
Service poor
Vic
Great food. Honestly I can't explain the 62% rating. Jealous competitors? The food was fantastic, and really enjoyed the dishes that came out.
Prices? Not exactly cheap, but it's the same as the acclaimed All Thai and less than Mai Ake. The food's just as good if not better. Only complaint is that it could be warmer - need dress warmly unless you're by the fireplace!

I had been there recently . It so romantic place for my dinner, perfect taste , very creative food , love to bring my good friends there. Reasonable price I will definitely back there , no wonder lots of people talking about this new restaurant. I love marinated prawn and chicken rocky road .

Perfect!!! This was the best Thai dinner we have ever eaten. Had chicken wings with superb dipping sauce, beautiful duck pancakes for entre. Mains of snow chicken perfect with the coconut rice, lamb chop special and amazing rocky road chicken. A must when in Hobart.
