Review Kalbi Korean Restaurant - Hobart

Staff are friendly and nice. Reasonable price. Stir-fried spicy pork was a bit dry and smelly, but it was edible. I was satisfied with the seafood pajeon because it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside but there’s little seafood. Soy bean soup was good enough.

We arrived on a Saturday night without a booking and were lucky to get a seat. We had a friendly waiter who helped us pick a few dishes. All were great bimbap and fried chicken were delicious. We got the special of the chilli squid which was eaten like san choy bow and it was great if not too spicy (and we love heat!)

Customer Service - 5 stars Fast and friendly staff. Easy to book last minute seats. Price - 4.5 stars It is cheaper compared to other Korean restaurants. We ordered 4 dish for two person and it only cost us $70+. We finished all and we were so full. Place - 4 stars Rustic feel and felt comfortable. They even provided hangers and hooks for your coat. Food - 3.5 stars Fried Chicken - 4.5 stars Soft and less oily meat (not that dry) when compared to the usual Korean fried chicken. Lacks crunch appeal. We ordered half sweet & spicy and the other half is the original (need to pay extra $1 to have different flavours). I like how the original have fried garlic bits, small cubes of raddish and seaweed. The sweet & spicy is not that spicy. Generous serving of the meat and I like that it is boneless. Seafood Pajeon - 1 star It should be called tiny prawn pancake. If you are used to the usual Korean seafood pancake, it's better not to order this one. Kalbi Beef - 3.5 star Generous serving of the beef, tasty, soft and not that chewy. This is the first time I tried Cos lettuce for the wrap and it's just ok, it also comes with shredded scallions. I still prefer oakleaf/butter lettuce. I love eating korean side dish and I'm a bit dissapointed. I think the serving of the side dish is not enough. Fourth meal - I never had the chance to try it. I was so full.

Went for dinner and received a very good service but food was really so so .. Ordered an army stew (for two) $36 but taste is very bland and comes with really cheap ingredients .. (Looked like the cheapest spam and sausages from Woolies, pity portion of side dish as well) Sauce for the fried chicken was good but the portion was really small and disappointing with less than 8 pieces for $18 (they mentioned it’s half chicken but it shouldn’t be that small portion eventhough it’s boneless) No Korea taste at all eventhough there’s Korean in the kitchen. The management should really look into it and improve their food.

Staff are not friendly, the food was looking good but not and good taste restaurant. The meat that i tried is very dry out. Specially, signature crispy chicken are not juice and not fresh. Taste like has been double cooked and preheat. Not recommended

From the moment I entered I could just tell that the food would be delicious. The aromas that were floating around inside was a sign of things to come. I had made a booking earlier on and good thing I did as they were very busy. There was about 20-30 minute wait time for anyone walking in off the street. Takeaway orders were constantly going out the door. I had wanted to try Bibimbap for sometime so was glad to finally get the chance to do so. As a side I had the Crispy Tofu. Prices were very good for the great quality of food you get. Considering how hungry I was I was highly appreciative of the fact that it wasn't a long wait for the food to arrive. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and offered great service. I sat near the front counter facing the kitchen where I enjoyed watching them do their magic. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

This is not Korean food!!!! 100% different. I think this korean restaurant really doesn't know what korean food is. I ordered kimchi fried rice but It taste like ... I don't know what it is. I'm surely this is not kimchi fried rice flavor I'm disappointed even if you follow the recipe from the online, It will be so much better than this.

For those who think Asian food means Chinese, Japanese, or Thai—Kalbi is a great introduction to a distinctive Korean cuisine characterized by spiciness, flavours and a unique brand of BBQ (Gu-Yi). Carnivores will relish the savory beef ribs, the delicious fried chicken and pork dishes, but they are accommodating to Vegan options as well as Gluten free. Also offering a Take Away menu. Red peppers, garlic, soy sauce and green onions abound, as does Kimchi (zesty and spicy fermented pickled cabbage), crispy tofu and other tantalizing and varied accompaniments, making for an out of the ordinary eating experience, in a fantastic location with friendly and helpful staff to match!

This small BYO restaurant has had a funky make over and now serves authentic Korean food with efficient friendly service. It is perfectly positioned for a refreshing meal before or after a movie at the State cinema. The twice cooked soy chicken pieces and lettuce wraps were delicious.

It was surprisingly great! You guys have great kimchi there. The soup tasted amazing and i have to say that all dishes taste more "clean" (as in fresh) than a lot of Korean places in mainland i have been to. Would love to come back again!!
