Had a bit of expectation when coming here after the reviews, but boy did they meet it! Was lovely service and delightful menu. the food was beyond delicious! Great serving sizes, helpful staff. The price is on the more expensive end but worth the experience, sustainability and good service. Would recommend a visit if in the CBD.

I'll be coming back to this place because I really like the airy, natural lobby feel and the extensive menu offerings. I've tried the eggplant sandwich and the porchetta sandwich and they were both delicious (I think the eggplant and the honey just edged out the porchetta).

Residing on the ground level of an impressive office building is Liminal, their speciality item is rotisserie meats but they also branch out in various directions. The crowd is mostly white collar and the pricing is indicative of this.

I had a latte which was great, a bit nutty and full bodied. My friend wanted a cold brew but they ran out, it was midday.

For food I couldn't bypass their porchetta which was quite generous and cut thick. The seasoning on the inside was copious and definitely not bland, nice fennel and spice kick. There are three layers, the crackling was an undeniable winner, nice and crunchy. Although I love fat, there were some pretty large slabs and it did get heavy, fast. The protein was a hit and miss, some of it was tender and some of it was really dry, may have some pieces that had been exposed too long to the heat.

The porchetta was paired with a salad of my choice, I couldn't resist the beetroot and fennel salad. It also came with a wedge of lemon and some herbaceous sauce for the meat, not necessarily required as the pork held its own but very much welcome for some variance on the plate.

I'd have to give their signature chicken roll a go next time. Beware the credit card surcharge.

A solid 4/5. I met a friend here for lunch and the service was great, except when we went to pay the bill and we couldn’t find any one lol

This is a relatively new cafe/wine shop in a building on Collins Street and to be honest if you didn’t know it’s there, you would simply keep walking.

But thankfully I knew where to go. This new cafe has a wine shop so you can get some take aways after you eat haha ... now that’s forward thinking!

I had a strong skinny latte which was good, but not exceptional. The coffee flavour was nice enough.

Food wise I tried some a 1/4 rotisserie chicken with beetroot and goats cheese. The chicken was superb w a crispy skin and the beetroot fresh and really tasty.

I particularly liked the seating arrangements at this cafe, allowing you to sit and do some work, sit on a comfy chair and enjoy a coffee, or to sit at a table or and yes there’s more haha to sit on a stool alone on a long bench.

It all made sense. This place is definitely worth a visit, just keep your eyes out lol.

This is a busy busy place, on any given day, and for how busy they are, they do well. Sometimes, you can get lost in the crowd, but the fact that the floor manager can pick these things up is what separates the exceptional places.
Frankly, the food and coffee is exceptional. It's that simple. Had the chicken burger with a side of fries. OMG! I had been craving a good chicken burger for quite some time, and finally, a place that nailed it.100% would return and would travel into the CBD for.

Liminal : A posh restaurant in a luxury end of Melbourne CBD

Pumpkin brioche first caught my attention as I love thick buttery bread. As you sliced into the brioche, the whipped buffalo curd + honey compliments the texture of soft and moist centred.

Then again, I have a weak spot for scrambled eggs ...

Will come for lunch next time for another menu

Beautiful space as with all of Mulberry group’s venue.

Food is decent and well priced. Good service.

Decent for a quick meal although would love to see more healthier options for lunch

I absolutely adore brunching in the city, as it reminds me of a lil’ staycation, only, focusing purely on the food element – duh.

Enter Liminal - the latest venture from The Mulberry Group (ex Top Paddock, Higher Ground and Kettle Black).

Food For Thought

The cafe is located within an office building... but once we got in, we were amazed at the design and ambience of this cafe restaurant and the friendliness of the staff. The kitchen was an open area which you could view the chefs in action from the seating area. I totally enjoyed my lamb skewers with roasted vegetable salad, which came with some refreshing pear pieces. Overall, I think the ambience, quality and flavour of food and service at this cafe was fabulous.

Liminal is located inside the lobby area of a corporate building, it has great ambience and is spacious. We had their roast chicken roll and the anchovy toast, both turned out very good. Will return when I feel like having something simple.

A great open plan place with a top notch fit out. QR code ordering at the table, quick easy and efficient. Food was tasty and batch brew coffee was good too.

Ocean trout salad was delicious. Serving size was small for a lunch portion, but flavours and textures were balanced. The mint leaves were an unexpected but nice touch of freshness.

Instagram: @ediblemelbourne The space is absolutely gorgeous - located on the ground floor of 161 Collins St, this place screams elegance and grace. Beautiful sections of tables with some communal ones, some private and some wavy-shaped couches. Very well thought through. Ordering here is through Mr Yum - sadly the system takes away from the elegance the interior promises. They've got an A4 sized QR code on the table as well as the table number as a round cut out. Not a very good impression in our humble opinion. We ordered a magic and the Hot Chicken Roll. They have two menus here, one for breakfast until 11 and one for lunch from 11 onward. Somehow Mr Yum allowed us to order from the lunch menu. The staff were amazing in accommodating it - they just advised that it might take a little longer (which we were fine with) BUT it actually came out so fast. The coffee was plain and simple not good - it was lukewarm, the cream was not great and sadly it was on the weaker side - more like a flat white 3/4 full. The Hot Chicken Roll was delicious - with small crispy bits of chicken skin, beautiful rotisserie chicken in a fresh, warm, brioche roll and a generous amount of gravy on the side. We didn't think that the gravy on the side was necessary and for the price ($16), we thought that some crisps of some sort would have made for the great addition and would have added value to it. Service is absolutely incredible - all smiles, professional, polite and fast. The takeaway section is full with fresh, delicious baguettes, toasties and things to go. We will visit again to try more.

Great service, staff were friendly. beautiful food & dining area with the open kitchen. Coffee was bit weak. The rice salad was bite dried and hard. Pastry escargot was perfect with coffee.

Fantastic food, however, prices are steep with the return of lunch time dining in the city. Challenge of running cafes for most CBD owners, however, staff provide excellent service and food is tasty.

Liminal was on my list to visit in Melbourne and it was worth it. The food was delicious, great interior and open plan kitchen. Lots of office workers from nearby offices and the vibe is interesting as it looked like it’s located in the lobby area of an office building (I think...) overall cool place

Wonderful space, very popular at lunch. Delicious food, including an extensive breakfast menu that is available all day. Good selection of wines and cocktails. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Prices are not cheap and servings are not large but overall a great place.
